Only his memories can save her…

A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come.

But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him. Cas is given some advice, though—something he plans to cling to as he waits to see her beautiful eyes open once more: Talk to her.

And so, he does. He reminds Poppy how their journey began, revealing things about himself that only Kieran knows in the process. But it’s anybody’s guess what she’ll wake to or exactly how much of the realm and Cas will have changed when she does.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout revisits Poppy and Casteel’s epic love story in the next installment of the Blood and Ash series. But this time, Hawke gets to tell the tale.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Pretty much could have skipped the majority of this book and read the last little bit is all. No wonder it took me so long to read it…

There is minimal new progression to the overall story. It is basically a recap of the beginning of the story to the middle-ish. Aside from Poppy and Cas, we are introduced to a new character that gets even more page time than both of them combined. This is Cas's cock. There are entire paragraphs of the level of hardness his cock has, how his hard cock is clouding his thoughts, how his cock feels at the moment and a play by play of his ever growing cock. You get the picture. I am honestly impressed with how much his cock is referenced in both part 1 and part 2. It's really a review of his cock the entire time and how it felt throughout the story, it's level of hardness, how horny the scene made him at the moment and how his cock responded to it.

If you're into that, I recommend this book. If you want something with more story and less cock play by play look elsewhere 😂

first of all, my review isn't gonna be scathing bc of the audiobook adaptation itself, but bc of the actual book content. granted, part 2 did come out a hot minute after i had already listened to part 1 but omg this entire book was just an exact recounting of what happened previously which was SO BORING!!! if i had wanted a retelling, i would've just relistened the previous books, so idk what the point of this book was

Basic Plot: Cas continues to tell Poppy the story of their time together while she heals.

This book is still rehashing the events from the first book or two of the series, but from Cas's perspective. We get a lot more insight into why he did some of the crazy things he did, plus a mild advancement of the characters into the next book.

When Poppy suddenly falls into coma-like stasis in order to complete her Culling, Cas talks to her as he sits vigil. Kieran and Delano also stay close as she sleeps. Casteel retells the story of their relationship (Book 1) from his perspective. It is a gut-tingling recount full of searing passion. There is an interesting new development at the end of the story and it finishes on a cliff-hanger.

The entire book is narrated by my fave voice actor, Stewart Crank. He is the PERFECT Casteel! And Torian Brackett is perfectly matched as his bond-brother. Together, they take a great piece of writing full of excellent banter, tenderness and steely resolve, and send it up with their sexy as f*ck voices. I could start this book over again right now, just to continue the bliss this combo brought me.

But that's not all. I loved all the voice actors, the music and sound effects. Graphic Audio just keeps getting better at their craft, especially when they have a great story to work from. I can't wait for their recording of Jennifer Armentrout's Book 6 "The Primal of Blood and Bone"!!

What an absolute waste of a 20 hour audiobook for there to be only ONE HOUR of plot progression at the very end! There is absolutely no new information or perspective provided from having Cas’s account of how every scene in book 1 played out. Other reviews got it right by saying he literally just recounts how hard his cock was the whole book….. 😒 we already know he deceived Poppy and then fell in love with her. Nothing shocked or surprised me to hear. Then for the plot twist of the very last hour of the book to be that HES ALSO A FUCKING CAVE CAT NOW? Good lord she is running out of ideas with this series.

2 stars because the full cast for the audiobook is phenomenal as always

Brutal & beautiful! Sarah has an incredible talent for world building, slow burn, and intertwining magic systems & relationships. This was an emotional rollercoaster. She is a literary chess master. Another page turner. Can’t wait for the next book in the Crescent City series!

Graphic audio was excellent as always.

Honestly, this book minus the last 30-60 minutes is the only part that brings anything more to the story. The second POV is nice but should have been done in parallel to the original story.

I really found this book so pointless. Yes, I enjoyed Cass's POV but like why?! It seemed so unnecessary to the plot and storyline.
