I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I enjoyed this book it had a lot of upbeat things and tried to help you be more self aware. However there were a few times I found the way they worded something to be rather offensive. One page said "Body language is the most important factor in choosing to be a target or not." I found that offensive, it sort of sounded like "Welp you are standing a little weird so it's your fault you got attacked." I know the authors absolutely didn't mean it that way, that's just the way it came across to me. No one chooses to be a target, they are chosen as a target by someone else but they don't personally try to be targeted. Again I enjoyed this book and the prompts and spaces it gave you to fill in your own information and customize the mantras and such. I just felt like sometimes it could have been more thoughtful towards woman who have been or could find themselves in sucky situations.
While it seems targeted at twenty and thirty-year-olds, I think women of all ages can get something from reading it. It's kinda like stopping at a convenience store--the essentials are covered. I particularly liked the two chapters on appreciating yourself. There were good exercises for identifying and recognizing qualities. In the chapter on how to deal with come-ons from men though, I wasn't sure I agreed with one example where we are to make a snide comment back to the jerk. It seems like once communication is established he may not like what you said and follow you to settle it.
I received this book as a Goodreads first read. The book gives some good guidelines to follow regarding safety for women and things to consider in the dating world and just your general well being. It was a quick read, but seems to be aimed more at young adults although information in it can be valuable to all women. There are sections that discuss learning to love yourself better and how to get in better shape physically and emotionally. It seems more of a self-help book with areas you can fill in to fit to your own needs.
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. This book is full of important information for all women, it has good points about safety and some good things to do for better health and happiness. Overall a good read to help boost your awareness about being a better woman for yourself and keeping negativity out or down to a minimum in your life.
