Zeus crushed the ancient Titans in a war that shook the heavens, then hurled the vanquished into an abyss of ice and torment buried far beneath the underworld itself, sealed forever. Or so he believed.
Now, high in Crete's mountains, archaeologists have unearthed a crumbling manuscript that promises whoever opens the gates to Tartarus will command the unstoppable beings capable of bringing the modern world to its knees.
Linguist Matt Kearns discovers irrefutable evidence that a reclusive billionaire believes the myth is real and plans to free the Titans.
Only one man can stop Alex Hunter, the legendary Arcadian, leading the elite HAWC commandos into the depths of the Earth to confront horrors never faced before. But victory demands the impossible - Alex must find and recruit Zeus himself.
In this thunderous collision of ancient myth and cutting-edge military fury, Greig Beck unleashes a relentless, blood-soaked epic tale that races from buried Tartarean ruins to the marble arenas of Olympus itself, leaving you breathless until the final, cataclysmic page is turned.
Hi GoodReaders, I’m an Australian author residing in Sydney with my wife, son and a mad Golden Retriever named Jessie. My novels are now available globally, also in Large Print and now in full AUDIO format.
I grew up spending my days surfing at Bondi Beach before entering a career in Information technology which took me around the world. After completing an MBA, i was appointed both an Australasian director of a multinational software company, and tasked with setting up the USA arm of the organisation.
Today, I spend most of my time writing... with plenty left over for surfing.
More information about me and my works can be found at either www.greigbeck.com, or join me on FaceBook (Greig Beck Author).
When I saw the previews and cover for this book, I thought gut “Cool - the Arcadian versus mythological Greek gods and monsters.” And that is exactly what I got, in a very satisfying way. Greig Beck wastes no time in this book, throwing our heroic HAWCs (and the rest of the world) not peril within the first few chapters. And this being a Beck book, you just know there are going to be some subterranean exploits! Beyond the full-speed-ahead action, there are some interesting subplot developments, and a few mythological cameos that will make you smile. Beck’s Arcadian books never let me down.
I VERY MUCH Enjoy reading the Alex hunter series. I have ALL 12 in my library. They are well written. Looking for Alex Hunter #13. Keep up the great work Greg
Great to get my hands on another Alex hunter book. What a start, it was absolutely fantastic the robot attack set piece at the start. The main threat was quickly revealed and things started well there on. My main complaint was the middle part of the book. It lost a lot of steam moving around pieces on the chess-board and not a lot of focus.
The main mission started way into the second half. Previously I loved the books in the series when the missing started in earnest and there was a clear focus which was missing from this book. The action moved globally in many places. Even at 80% there wasn't a clear resolution in sight and I thought this would be like Devil's peak, continued in the second half. However things were wrapped up pretty fast in the end which felt a bit rushed.
The big bad Kronos didn't get to do much. It felt like Alex hunter got a cheat code in the end in the form of Zeus.
The antagonist in the first half who were trying to free Kronos also met an untimely and underwhelming end.
Having dissed on it so much, there were many bright spotlights, did I mention the explosive start. The explosive travel into the first Olympics in Greece, greek gods and most of all the return of an old frenemy who may yet be redeemed.
I can't wait to see where the series would now lead.
I know the author is Australian but there was one of the most American moments ever in this book. The team uses a bomb to stop a hurricane. Floridians reading this are all excited for their next hurricane. As far as the rest of the book goes, it was pretty good. The initial villians have 0 build up or explanation for their motivations, which was pretty disappointing. An old enemy returns but I doubt it's the last we've seen of them. The ending gets wrapped up pretty quickly and could have been better.
Fantastic read!!! Greig Beck is a master story teller and has produced an exciting and compelling story that is very hard to put down!! Loved the familiar characters, Alex Hunter and the HAWKS!! Can’t wait for the next book!!
Love the Arcadian series. Read every one! Can’t wait for the next book. Greig is a great writer, love to sit over a beer and talk about the characters with him.
Alex Hunter and his HAWCs return, this time old friend Matt Kearns asks for help as the Titans from Greek mythology have been found and released into the world. Alex will need all the help he can get, could that be from Zeus, who originally imprisoned the Titans.
Where do I even begin- The Titans brought not only Alex, Sam and Casey to the brink of the world's end, but Matt Kearns was pulled back into the fold again. The Titans brought back the fact that though Alex, the Arcadian, is a formidable soldier, he can't beat them all; he doesn't stop trying either. With Cronos and his minions out in the world, causing havoc, they also have to deal with the cantankerous yet unyielding temperament of Zeus, father of all the gods. It takes a while to get him to see his help is needed- no, wanted.
The Titans was the biggest novel by Greig Beck, to date! It's full of amazing, mythological adventure, and not to mention fleets of fully armoured ships and such being sucked into the belly of the beast. What is not to love? Each book brings on fears unimagined and laughs by the minute. I mean, how could you not laugh when you're fighting alongside gods? Alex Hunter and his team of HAWCS rule!
4.5 ⭐️ The perfect campy crossover of sci-fi and fantasy that I always love.. Although, after 12 books I’m noticing a little decline in writing and physical book quality 🤔
