I really liked the idea of this fictional memoir and was eager to dig into all of the rich emotions that I believed it would hold.
It was well-written and easily able to transition me into each love story of Lucki's past. The additional details and background were embedded into the story nicely and helped to make everything come into better focus.
Following Lucki on her relationship journeys, starting from high school, was an enjoyable experience. There were moments where it made me reminisce about my own journey as well.
Being able to observe her misadventures and mistakes, as well as being able to see her learn and grow, was quite lovely. The road trip with her family was a good chance for her to grow close to them again, although some of the scenes (especially the food scenes) got a bit long-winded. Girl was definitely eating good, but it did take a away a bit from her familial and emotional journey.
I was very eager to get back to Kris and curious to see what exactly would happen with him. Knowing how they'd met and how far apart in distance they were from the start really made me wonder how this relationship would progress. Then...WOW...that was unexpected! I was on the edge of my seat to see the ramifications of their new status. And when the tides turned on this one, oh did they turn! Each failure seemed even harder on Lucki than the previous one. I was ready for the girl to catch a break, but she needed to get her head on straight and start looking for the right ones with the right intentions.
Maybe this next one would be better...
I felt for Lucki and just wanted things to be better for her.
The ending of this one was super satisfying.
I also enjoyed all of the additional material at the end of the book.

This book has a very unreliable narrator. The FMC will make a statement and then two paragraphs later directly contradict herself. It left me as a reader feeling confused and taken out of the story to fact check what I thought I knew only to confirm I wasn't going crazy.
The FMC also has a young/immature voice. The text reads like a teenage diary, very direct with details about obscure things and overly focused on food. Maybe it's because I'm from the FAFO generation, but Baby Girl spends a lot of time making impulsive decisions and then acting like the victim for how she got to such a place. She just needs to grow up a little and learn to love herself. A man isn't going to fix everything nor make you feel complete. I was a bit surprised no one ever took her to the doctor to screen her for Depression.
I had a hard time rooting for the FMC or this book because it was messy and I felt frustrated standing on the sidelines watching her self-sabotage. The religious aspect also annoyed me. She wants to cherry pick it to fit her lifestyle.
I enjoyed her grandparents a lot and they definitely added to the positive parts of the story! It was nice that she felt so loved despite all her shenanigans. We all need a Gran in our lives!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Pen Pinery.

I truly loved this book. Very well
Written Lucki is like so many of us women when we are first learning yo navigate love in the world falling all
Over ourselves for each relationship bc we don’t know what love actually is how we truly need to realize that God will give us who and what we need if we just have faith and talk to
Him I’d definitely read more from this author
