After a lifetime of scheming, and the success of capturing Vishnue at the Battle of Nellaun, Queen Reinna holds all the cards, and her agenda has just begun.

Half of Oenai's crew is dead, and the other half must train a group of untired misfits during the maiden voyage of the Shepherd, under the direction of their one-eyed Captain.

Iesslian has betrayed his wife, Vishnue, and turned her over to his mother, the self-proclaimed Queen of the Realm, who is only returning Vishnue to Renou for her public execution. In response to Iesslian's heinous betrayal, Oenai has locked him up, and now finds that she must place her trust in the most unlikely of allies as she endeavors to rescue her friend and leader. And what happened to the citizens of Renou? Her family? Where is Uncle Garrien and her sister Meera? Are they even alive?

Oenai's journey is just beginning, and where she goes, tragedy is sure to follow.

Can an Earthling really prove to be honorable? Or is Oenai putting her trust in the wrong hands?

This book as even better than the first! The emotional roller coaster gave it a different feel than the first, and I wanted the author to kill off Reinna, but I know it will come later on!
I can't wait for the third book! I want to find out what happens!

What did I think! I thin k this book was even better than the first! Although it was a bit darker than the first, it is easily the best book I have ever read!
And I am very impatiently awaiting the third!!!
