Traveling across Florida in a motorhome, Walker and his cat, Mango Bob, are enjoying a laid back lifestyle while trying to stay out of trouble. But trouble seems to find them wherever they go.
Walker's agreed to take the lovely and recently single Doctor Joy to the Oasis Ranger Station in the Everglades. It's supposed to be an easy trip, just down and back.
But Doctor Joy has plans for Walker that involve a lot more than just a drive into the Everglades. An ex-boyfriend, poachers, and a skunk ape?
Ride along on another fun romp in the Mango Bob series, one you won't want to miss!
I really like this series; easy to read, well edited and good story lines. My only critisism is the overbearing and devious women he tends to befriend. We know he can handle himself in the face of adversity yet he needs to stand up for himself where the 'weaker' sex are concerned. I forgot to mention...I love Bob!
I've enjoyed the other books in this series, but this one was just bad. The plot was boring and the main characters had absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. I'm a little tired of Walker having a new love interest in every book, but I'm going if there is another book, this I've isn't in out much. The writing in this book was atrocious. I'm guessing the author was contacted tho write a book of a certain length, so instead of writing more, he simply kept repeating exactly what had just happened. That was very distracting. If there are more Mango Bob books, hopefully the author steps up his game. I volunteer to test read the next book before it's published. Bob deserves better than this.
That is not a typo. Panthers abound in this story. Crazy mixed up situations also abound. A fun story. In the next sequel maybe some treasure is waiting to be found.
As one reviewer said, these stories must be good, if I read one after the other. That has certainly been the case. Maybe it is because they are a bit more laid back and don't demand a lot of the reader. In this one, Walker is conned, by Polly, into taking Veterinarian, Dr. Joy, to an endangered animal rescue to check on a panther that has been run over by a car. Now there really is an injured panther, but Polly's real reason for involving Walker, was a bit of match making. Turns out the panther doesn't have any fatal injuries, but had recently given birth. So now the race is on to find the kittens. Thankfully, the collar on the panther gave pretty precise GPS coordinates. With a little bit of trouble, they did find 1, but someone had gotten there first and taken the other two. They need a plan to get them back. Then they need to get them and the mom to the panther rehab. to prepare them for return to the wild. Very interesting as the places listed are real as is the presence of panthers in FL.
I love the Mango Bob series. This book (like the others) is a light and fun book which takes the reader to sunny Florida (even if only in you mind). While the writing is only average, the characters and situation more than make up for it. I love rooting for Walker and Bob as they get in and out of trouble and meet new people. If you’re looking for a beach read with a few laughs and twists along the way give this series a try.
This 4th book in the series has Walker and Bob helping a friend and spending time in the Florida Everglades. Walker is a very patient man and I’m starting to find myself getting angry on his behalf as the women in his life tell him what to do all the time. Also, the author tends to “bring you up to speed” at the beginning of each chapter which I could understand if you were waiting a week or a month in between before reading the next chapter but is completely unnecessary when you are reading the book in a “normal” way. Still enjoying the series and looking forward to the next book. Looks like it might be another treasure hunt coming up.
What starts out as an easy drive to alligator alley becomes a nightmare to Walker. A sucker for helping someone leaves him kicked out of his own home. Ever a gentleman, Walker helps rescue a panther kitten. allowing it to move into his motor home. and before long he has the mama and 3 babies living in his home. The woman behind it all is Dr. Joy. Wile she calls the shots, Walker never seems to mind stepping in to do whatever she wants. A fun story with lots of twists along the way. Good characters and great descriptions made me feel I was in the Everglades on this adventure. Terrific book by an author who knows how to hook you and then shows you many interesting sides to Florida.
i really love this series. i love all the interesting places Walker visits in Florida, and the fact that he really knows cats!!!! so reminds me of my cat. My one complaint is all the women seem to be the same. They are constantly telling Walker what to do, and he has no problem with that. The fact that they are usually right about things, still is annoying that they always tell him what to do ---even the common, mundane things like when he can take a shower. He is just such a nice man--i have never found a man that would let me treat him like that!! All in all, a very enjoyable series!!
I again chose 5 stars for this book because of what I learned about all of the adventure to be had by living aboard an RV in Florida. I get such a kick out of Walker's conversations with Mango Bob and enjoy picturing Bob doing things exactly the way Walker describes. I would have like for certain characters to have been punished for taking those panther kittens and to lose their credibility in the field but c'est la vie. Still an enjoyable read. Oh, and seriously, Walker is too good to be true. He is THE perfect guy!
I very much enjoyed your first three books but this one.....not so much. The LORI was just plain awful. As she is in other books I won't bother reading those. The two characters did not blend at all. You made him look stupid and gullible! He paid and did everything and she was a bitch...plain and simple......farewell Mango Bob.
I like these books. To me the stories can get a little mechanical and everything works out perfectly in the end too much. But! They are fun to just go with the flow and Bill does add in real locations in southern Florida which I enjoy being a long way from there... each book gets a little better than the last, on to the next one
I loved the book...You never knis whst kind of adventure Walker & Mango Bob are going on ....I liked the character's too...Lori would be an excellent " no longer pretend girlfriend to Walker"! ...Bob likes her too! Looking forward to more stories ....Thanks for the fun read! M.L.🙂
I have read 3 of the first 4 books t in is series of13 books as at this time . plan read that first one I missed. They seem to be very interesting FL adventures. So far each book has a different theme at a different locations in Florida. Try at least one book. I think you are in for a treat Enjoyy
This is the worst of the series so far. The female main character is, I guess, supposed to be spunky and independent. What she is is a bully and a selfish twit. And, for a vet, she is mind-numbing oblivious to standard animal-animal and animal-human contact protocols.
I’m going to have to do some serious reconsideration on completing this series.
This is the 2nd of the 11 book series that I have read & I loved it. I read Mango Bob and was hooked from the beginning. Just downloaded the remaining 9 books and wait to continue reading about his adventures.
I loved this book. Won't say what it's about, no spoilers. It's weird, cute, and of course has Mango Bob. The only reason it's four and not five stars is because Walker may be laid back but this was too laid back.
I am sad as each book ends and filled with anticipation when the next in the series begins. There is nothing special about the series, but the ease of the story line keeps me wanting more.
Like these series. Clean, entertaining, fast moving. Characters in the book are good people with high morals and ethics, who do the right things and help others; makes you feel good after finishing the book. Looking forward the next book in series.
Poison ivy is not contagious to another person once residue from the plant has been washed from the skin. Fluid from the blisters will not spread it to another person. Otherwise good read. Please write more!
I have enjoyed the first three Mango Bob books and this one took a turn I did not expect. Lots of twists and turns with some intrigue and a little romance mixed in. An enjoyable read!
What can I say that I haven't already said? This series is easy to read. If you like mysteries, adventures , a little romance and fun, then you will love this series. Now, I am on to the next book in Bob's adventures.
Mango Bob meets gators and panthers in the Everglades when Walker steps out of his comfort zone to help Dr Joy in this outing of man-with-cat-in-motorhome. It's a likable story, but this far into the series, I find I'm wanting both more and less from the author: More in the way of description and vivid detail, as he wends the characters' way through gorgeous scenery that not all of us are familiar with, perhaps, and less tedious detail of every rote habit of motorhome life (we see him readying the rig for the road once, and don't need to see him doing it again and again in such excruciating detail over and over). I would like more attention to what has already been written in the case of Walker's back-story; it shifts in alarmingly fundamental ways from book to book. And I would like a bit less fantasy in what Walker is able to accomplish; he is singlehandedly able to shuffle people and vehicles around in this one in a way that is just a bit to superheroish to me. The series is coming to the slippery edge of having stretched its premise just far enough - much more and it just might exceed its own limits.
