Born in the artists’ community of Woodstock, NY, Morgan Elektra discovered her passion for writing at a young age, penning stories of witches, vampires, and monsters at the dining room table. After years working day jobs and moonlighting as a reviewer for popular genre website Dread Central, Morgan left the comfort of an office to follow her dreams of writing fiction. She spent the early twenty-teens as a freelance ghostwriter of erotica, but has now put aside the masks to write under her own name. Morgan graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with her MFA in Creative Writing. She writes dark fiction, paranormal romance, and erotica for those who, like her, are in love with the dark.

When not writing she can be found reading, or volunteering with and participating in her local LGBTQ+ community.

She currently lives near Savannah, GA with her husband, their cat Harlequin, and—if the rumours are to be believed (and she sincerely hopes they are)—an awful lot of ghosts.

If you have any questions this almost entirely true bio doesn't answer, Morgan encourages you to ask! She is an open book... cracked spine and all!

Burned is an exciting urban fantasy mystery that follows Alek Knight, a powerful immortal who has served a demon lord for over a thousand years. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and this story is mixed with supernatural elements with crime-solving as Alek investigates the murder of a human friend whose soul has mysteriously vanished. It definitely caught my attention once I got to the middle part, and I love solving crimes plots!
One of the strongest parts of the book is the main character herself. She is tough, sarcastic, and emotionally guarded, but still deeply affected by loss. Her interaction with a human police officer adds tension and humor, especially when he has no idea what or who she really is. Their uneasy teamwork keeps the story interesting.
The world-building is intriguing without being overwhelming, making the story easy to follow. Overall, Burned is a fun and fast-paced read that will appeal to fans of supernatural mysteries and strong female leads.

This book did not disappoint! I love supernatural and paranormal stories, so when you mix those elements with a badass fmc and a murder mystery, I was instantly hooked. I loved how well-developed these characters are, especially Alek, because, even though she is supposed to be this hardened "fixer" for this demon, she is still very human (when she talks about Bryce and how she is around children). I especially liked how the author took creative liberties with the history of Heaven and Hell to explain the current world state. It was a refreshing twist, one I haven't read before in these types of novels. The dialogue has some nice, quippy comebacks, and the overall writing is really good. The only thing I'm not happy about is that ending because I want more!

I'm happy to receive a free advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This story was quite the emotional rollercoaster including the cliffhanger! I definitely feel in love with the characters and cannot wait for the series to continue. I still have so many questions unabated that I hope come with the continuation. Definitely not your usual take on heaven/hell angels/demons. There were several twists I didn't see coming before they arrived.

I cannot wait for the second book!! I wasn’t not expecting to be captivated by this book. It’s not my usual fantasy but I was so wrong. I dream about this book! You have to read this! You will not regret it.
