Eldrith Manor

Rate this book
ONE GHOST. ONE DEMON. ONE HAUNTED MANOR.

The Ghost

What happens when someone accidentally summons a demon? They die and become a ghost.

I didn’t believe in Heaven or Hell. I thought the pain would stop, and I’d taste sweet oblivion. But I was wrong. Hell does exist. It’s not just a place, but a person too.

His name is Lynx.

Night after night, day after day, I try to escape and break free of the cage I’ve been damned into. I can’t hide from him, and he can’t outrun me. I’m trapped in the manor with the monster who killed me.

The Demon

Be careful who you steal from. They might just come for your soul.

They called me a sinner, then stuck a blade through my heart and cursed my soul to an eternity in flames, turning me into the demon they claimed I was.

For centuries, I suffered and screamed. Made other souls wish they were never born. It was an endless cycle I couldn’t break until one day, she called me forward. A little human who played with someone else’s toys.

I thought I could get rid of her, but I was wrong. I can’t escape her no matter what I do.

At least, I know one thing for certain. Sable looks pretty for a dead thing.

Was this fun? Yes. Was it page-turning? Not really. The FMC annoyed the hell out of me. That said, I lived for every moment Tony showed up, he’s hilarious and gave me major BASE vibes from the Edge of Darkness trilogy. (Still hoping Queen Leigh Rivers gives us his book) I was there for the Lincolns passiveness! Yes please...

“I will kill every last person in this room, in this world, anyone by your side who isn’t me, just to call your fucking bluff. As soon as this curse is lifted and you get to run along to the other side, I’ll still hunt anyone who thinks about going near you.”

PRE-READ.. Anything Queen Leigh Rivers writes I will read! I loved all her books so much! per usual I am going into this blind! haha here we go!

ARC REVIEW 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eldrith Manor is everything I was hoping it would be. Dark, fun, and emotional.

A girl turned ghost trapped with the demon that killed her and his *quite* endearing hellhound best friend. What more could I want?!

The banter is fun, witty and so funny and the enemies to lovers was GIVING. Topping that off, the characters are written so well. Lynx and Sable were relatable, tragic, and so lovable.

I am so grateful to Leigh and Avina for creating the magic that is Eldrith Manor. I loved every moment of this. 🖤

3.75-4ish⭐️ I found the start pretty slow but once this kicked into gear, I enjoyed the story. The enemies to lovers paranormal plot was good. I loved the back and forth arguing/flirting between our MCs, grumpy demon Lynx, and sassy ghost Sable. They had some great one-liners that made me laugh. The spice we got was hot. Lynx has some serious confident moves and a filthy mouth. When he said, “Look at my pretty dead pussy”🤣 and “I’m going to fuck you so well, your heart will start beating again,” I was like," Excuse me! 👏🏻🤣". He was also really sweet at times too for a demon😄. Lynx’s best friend Tony, aka Tidus, was a fun side character, often stealing the show with his antics. I’d be interested in his backstory.

Overall, I liked this. It wasn’t perfect. I had a few niggles with parts of it but not so much it ruined the vibe of the story as a whole. I can’t be arsed going into the negatives, read it and make your own mind up 😄. I smiled a fair bit whilst reading, so that’s a good sign. Not bad. Definitely read the bonus epilogue. That’s it.

4⭐️ Big thank you to Leigh and Avina for the ARC copy of this!!

Demon x ghost girl. LOVED the spooky manor vibes!! I quite literally will devour anything Leigh Rivers writes. Including her grocery list at this point. This was such a fun hawt ride!! I’d let Lynx do anything he wanted to do with me - Body and soul included. The hellhound was such a fun little surprise hehe. Every time he popped up I giggled and kicked my feet. Def one of my fav side characters. Had such a fun time!

I have beef with this book. I have been waiting over a year for Leigh rivers to release book two in her satanic shadows series. ALOT OF US HAVE.
So the fact that THIS has been written and released instead, means this should have been a book that knocked us off our asses.
Should have been a book we all loved so much, it excuses the lack of updates and basic acknowledgment ,Leigh rivers have given over the series she hasn’t finished.
(Side note, the release date for the next book is bs. Two years? It was released in dec 2024, the next books release date is 12/2026? We have to wait a whole year.. again? The insatiable trilogy was released fully within a 7 month time frame. THIS book should not have taken precedent over her unfinished series that so many fans have been begging for her to release)

It was bad. Even if I didn’t read this while waiting for her to release something else, you could not have convinced me Leigh rivers had a hand in this book at all.

This was not what I’m use to getting from Leigh Rivers. Maybe my high expectations are what set me up to fail.
She has never written a book that didn’t alter my brain chemistry in the most beautiful way.

So idk what went wrong with this book.

I started to dread the chapters from sables pov.
The story stalled hard and repetitive with her.
She had the longest chapters, her inner monologue was just the same story of her dead sister , shitty parents, being a ghost, etc like omg. We get it, we don’t care anymore. She could not go 2 sentences without repeating it all over again. We should have semblance of a plot by 50% that has progressed past them being stuck in the house, but we didn’t. They were no closer to even talking about what actually happened. All that time and the fact that he was not from that time period had not been mentioned. Which is a great to show that they spent no time talking to each other on a level deeper then how they started. (Bc the chapters were too busy repeating the same shit to include any plot progression.)

After 50% I wasn’t even able to enjoy Lynx pov.

You could tell two different authors wrote this, in lynx pov he’s pining for her and his actions and behaviors speak on it. We also see a sable that is feisty, angry and outgoing. He’s constantly finding these things about her attractive, and it’s written that he lets physical cues show. Smirks, swallowing, instinctively reaching for her but pausing and pulling back. The way he speaks to her is snarky but it’s totally different than the way sables pov portrays him.

In hers, he’s a different person. And not ln a “he’s so good at masking it, not letting her see how she gets to him.” Sort of way. This is not a clear case of him being written in a way that we the reader, see how he struggles with his inner self. But keeps it from showing. No no.

It’s written in a way that seems like the two authors were not keeping track of how the other portrayed their characters. in sables pov, lynx is Cold, says things that are so vastly contradictory to lynx’s character.

In his pov, we are a consistent path of him losing his dislike on her, at one point he’s completely over his dislike of her, and is only struggling with allowing himself to give into his emotions bc the future of them together is uncertain. Not because he doesn’t want to he just is scared to get hurt if they end up not being tethered together forever.

But in sables pov he says the most horrible things to her. To hurt her. Literally tells her he doesn’t care about her at all he’s just bored. Like she is just thinking he’s kind and might care for her, and he out of the blue is like “don’t think this means you matter at all.”

Like they just wrote the story separately then combined what they had together and didn’t care if it matched up or made sense.

This felt like a Disney Coded dark romance.

The book had a strong start ... the premise pulled me in immediately and had me hooked. But after that, it slowly went downhill. The demon killing the girl had no real backstory or motivation, which made the conflict feel hollow. Their banter often felt less like tension-filled chemistry and more like step-siblings arguing over chocolate cake.

The emotional depth was missing, and many moments came off as silly rather than dark or intense. The FMC is introduced as a completely normal girl with a normal job, yet she becomes strangely comfortable with severed limbs, including her own, far too quickly.

Deadly Demons ❌
Disney Demon ✅

The epilogue did manage to land emotionally, but overall the story felt underwhelming, with too many loose ends left unresolved. Ironically, Satan in Hell ended up being more interesting than most of the main plot.

Oof, I don't know guys. Maybe Leigh Rivers is just not for me. I hoped that her tandem work with Avina might vibe with me better, but nope. I still find it meh. I have one last hope with Insatiable and then if that doesn't work either - I'm washing my hands and calling it quits.
The premise sounded fun and entertaining but in the end was somewhat shallow and unfulfilled. It tried to be funny at times and yet I wasn't even smiling. Credit where it's due - I got misty eyed a couple of times. Aaaand that's about all I got from this book.

It was so boring and repetitive. Nothing happened. But maybe it’s my fault for going in with very high expectations as this is co-written by two of my favorite authors.

y'all I'm not surprised by how much I loved Eldrith Manor. this was exactly what I was hoping it would be with a perfect blend of paranormal and dark romance!!!

St. Graves and Rivers play on those familiar PNR/gothic elements that we love, a decaying manor and dark family secrets, and don't pull ANY punches when it comes to these two mc's banter/dynamics. Sable and Lynx are a little toxic and a LOT of fun. I was gasping, giggling, sweating, and straight up didn't want to put it down once I hit the 40% mark. also for such a big bad demon, Lynx really had me swooning there lmao. I think this might be my new favorite book by both authors 🙂‍↕️

I read and reviewed an advanced reader copy provided by the author's team.

Love a good ‘whoopsie daisy, I summoned a demon’ romance and this one has the fun twist of him killing her to kick it off. Talk about enemies to lovers.

I was unprepared to want to rage and cry during the prologue. They definitely tug on your heart strings with these characters back stories and it had me rooting for both of them immediately.

The banter and chemistry between Lynx and Sable is fantastic and I loved every second of the development of their relationship.

This book also has a great balance of gross gory content, devastating moments, hot spice, and comedic relief. It’s a great time but also a book that will make you fall completely in love with its characters.

The ending left me with a few questions but not enough to affect the overall experience too much.

Definitely recommend for my demon romance lovers, and if you haven’t read a demon romance yet, you’re missing out!
Give this one a try.

This was just not for me. The idea itself is fun and totally for me, but the writing and lack of any kind of depth leaves a lot to be desired. I just skim read to the end and found it predictable.

I'm obsessed with Leigh Rivers, Malachi Vize still haunts my dreams. I've been SO excited to read this and did it deliver. 🖤

I went into it as blind as possible and those opening chapters, SNAP - Completely unhinged. The shocks hit hard and fast. Both the MMC and FMC carry deeply tragic pasts that fuel the story and become the perfect blend of dark romance and paranormal tension. Definitely check the triggers. I loved her taking no shit attitude and his growth as a character and sharp banter.

Ohhh the Spice, perfection. Horns, pointed ears, sharp canines…Oh Lynx 🥵🥵🥵

The dark humour throughout the story kept the heaviness from ever feeling overwhelming given the characters situations. Tony was hilarious and brought lightheartedness to the dreary manor.

I loved the overall story, did the manor setting make me feel a touch claustrophobic at times? Yes. But it is so clearly intentional, feeling as trapped as the characters.

Overall, LOVE LOVE LOVED.

What to expect:
Enemies to lovers
Dual POV
Forced proximity
Paranormal romance
Touch her and die (made even hotter by the fact she cannot actually be touched)

Mmhh… wait. He’s from another era right? and about two hundred years older than her. Cars, phones, modern clothes… he’s lost. He doesn’t even get what a middle finger means when she flips him off.
But then later, his demon best friend, who he’s spent ages in Hell, casually flips him off too. So… did he really not know the gesture before her, or what? Whatever. Problem is, at the same time he talks exactly like a normal dude from our time. Modern slang, casual swearing, expressions that feel completely current.
The contrast is just off… You notice it, and once you notice it, it’s hard to unsee.
And then there’s him casually taking a shower in the mansion, abandoned and all (???). Well, how, sir? With what water? Who’s paying the bills??
Idk, these things kept pulling me out of the story, which is a shame because at the start I was into it. The banter is fun, and for once I didn’t hate the FMC. But after a while the story drags, the worldbuilding stays surface-level, and around 60% in I realized I was kinda bored and didn’t feel like continuing.
So yeah not a terrible book, but not that good either.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️another 6 stars because of course it was written by leigh rivers and avina st. graves. when these two write together, it simply does not miss. 😌 omg…hold on, let me collect myself. 🥹 wow. i genuinely don’t have the words for how good this was. the trauma, the grief, the sacrifices they made for each other?? absolutely wrecked me. 😭i was tearing up and smiling at the same time. i loved everything about this book the spice, the connection, the paranormal romance, all of it. literally couldn’t put it down. this is officially a new favourite for me. 🥹🖤

‘“Because I would slaughter an army of demons to keep from losing another person I would take a blade for. You want to know why I’m standing here? This doesn’t feel like a prison when I’m with you.”’😭🖤

ARC read! 4.5⭐️

Absolutely lovedddd this! And I feel I can tell who wrote which character 🤭 This was a perfect storyline. A sexy demon? Yes, yes and more YES!

Lynx- what a mannn, (I mean demon 😈) rough around the edges, and doesn’t care about anyone or anything, but after some forced proximity, she’s the only one that matters 🫠😌 he was a fantastic MMC and was unintentionally funny because of the century he grew up in 😂

Sable- she was a great FMC, she also made me laugh with her witty comebacks. To fall for the one that ended your life? Get it girlllll 🤭😜

Together they made a perfect match! They had so much in common when it came to their life stories. And how everything played out, they were literally meant for each other 🥹😍 their banter was *chefs kiss*, and the TENSION was everything I wanted it to be and more!

Tony/Tidus, I love you my friend 🥹

I only had a few questions when reading this, but my god, did I love it! Can’t wait to have this baby in my shelf!

What happens when you accidentally summon a demon? Well you die and then you get to read a HECK of a story written by two amazing authors!

This story was absolutely amazing. We start with the backstory of Lynx. Getting to know Lynx before he went to depths of hell.

Next we get to hear the story of Sable. How her life has been before she summoned a demon.

When I say this is enemies to love books, I truly mean this is an enemies to lovers book! These two together make for one wild ride of a story. When Sable summons Lynx it becomes a true hatred towards each other.

You will also get some funny moments, some banter, and who could forget a hellhound!

This book was an amazing ride and I was happy reading this book. I loved it all and I hope everyone else loves it as much as I did.

i loved every minute of this book, sable and lynx individual as well as together are some of my favorite main characters from all of the dark romance books i’ve read thus far. their backstories and the way they connect was so good. i had a feeling what the big twist would be but this book still kept me on my toes constantly trying to guess what would happen next. leigh and avina do such a great job creating morally grey characters and miscommunication tropes. i love a good enemies to lovers romance where they both think they hate each other until they finally realize they don’t🤭🤭🥲

I loved the whole vibe of this book. Who wouldn’t be interested in a girl trying to summon someone who ends up being a demon and turning her into a ghost 👀

Lynx and Sables chemistry was off the charts. The banter was giving me life! I swear some of the sheit they were saying had me rolling!

On a serious note, they were intense, finding their grief and understanding. Every single part in between was a rollercoaster I enjoyed getting to know!

The tears were flowing towards the end. Honestly, what an unexpected turn of events and closure that pulled at my heart.

Thank you thank you for this arc 🖤

No surprise here but this was incredible. It has everything... Emotional traumas, true enemies-to-lovers, heart breaking back stories, banter and incredible chemistry.

As someone who has suffered sibling loss, this one hit a little deeper but it was done so beautifully. Leigh and Avina both shined in this one and meshed their writing styles perfectly. Definitely a top read.

Where do I even start with this one? I genuinely don’t know what it was about this book. I couldn’t (soft)DNF it, but I also didn’t really want to keep reading. And here’s the weird part: I didn’t think it was that bad. It was actually really funny most of the time, and I genuinely loved the banter between the characters. I highlighted a lot of quotes, which for me is usually a very good sign. I didnt expect it, but the epilogue was beautiful and it was a great ending of this book.

But if I’m being completely honest? I gave exactly zero fucks about the actual story. If you’re going to write a book that takes place almost entirely in one location, the plot really needs to carry it. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t. About 70% of the book felt repetitive, and even though I skimmed through some parts, I still feel like I missed absolutely nothing important.

So yeah it was a confusing reading experience. I laughed, I enjoyed moments, there were genuinely good and fun scenes in here. But as a whole, it just didn’t grab me. I’m still rating this 3⭐️ but this is my least favorite Leigh Rivers book and I’m glad I’m done with it.

FIVE. FUCKING. STARS. I am UNWELL.

I devoured this book like it personally owed me money. The main characters? Obsessed. The side characters? Would die for them. The humour? Perfectly unhinged. The yearning? Criminal. The angst? Unbelievable. The hate? Delicious. The smut? Yes. Just, yes.

This is one of those books that drags you by the throat and goes “welcome home”. I wasn’t reading about Eldrith Manor, I was LIVING there. Breathing the air. Lurking in the corridors. And honestly? I want to go back immediately and never leave.

It drops 4th February and I am not asking, you need to read it. End of discussion. I will not be taking questions

Tropes (aka reasons I lost my mind):
👹 Enemies to lovers
🏠 Forced proximity
🔥 Slow-ish burn (the GOOD kind)
💔 Yearning that hurts your chest
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4/5 spice, thank you very much)
👻 Demon x ghost (HELLO??)
✨ HEA because I deserve happiness

Read it. Or don’t. But if you don’t, just know I’ll be judging you quietly. 😌📖

I had a great time reading this book it was such a vibe and it was genuinely so so funny and had me cracking up, I haven’t laughed this much in quite a bit. Aside from this, I enjoyed the plot and the vulnerable moments we got between Lynx and Sable. This was a fun paranormal romance!
