My Sister's Secret

Rate this book
Two sisters bound by a secret that could tear them apart . . .

Rosy is the responsible one, well-behaved and organized. Amy is the free spirit, never following the rules. But despite their differences, they can never break loose from each other.

Because only they know what happened that day years ago. Because only they know that one wrong move could destroy them both.

But when Amy's new psychiatrist attempts to dig into her past, he begins to suspect something is amiss between the sisters. His gut tells him to run, but his own dark history draws him ever closer to the two women . . . and they to him.

As cracks form in the sisters' carefully constructed façade, one thing becomes three's a crowd, and one of them has to go.

Unfortunately, this one just didn’t work for me. I found it very difficult to connect with any of the characters, as they were all so unlikable. They often came across as childish, with moods that seemed to change without any real explanation, sometimes within the space of a single sentence or paragraph.
The storyline felt just as dysfunctional as the characters themselves, making it difficult for me to become invested in what was happening. While I can appreciate that the author was aiming to portray complicated relationships and flawed personalities, I struggled to become invested in the story. Ultimately, this was a disappointing read for me, though it may appeal more to readers who enjoy emotionally charged family dramas with complex characters.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada, and Doubleday Canada for the Advanced Reader’s Copy of My Sister’s Secret by Jane Corry. This will be published on October 27, 2026.

Blood is thicker than water… That bastardized tag line tells you all you need to know for what you’re getting into. You’ll find a family story filled with trust issues, manipulation, lies and protecting the family’s secrets. And you will not be disappointed.

The story is told from three POV: Rosy, the good sister; Amy, the committed sister; and James, Amy’s psychiatrist. You’re consistently suspicious of all three and the secrets they’re hiding. You know they’re hiding secrets but you don’t know what the secrets are. That’s what keeps you reading chapter after chapter.

The story progresses steadily and there were many instances where my jaw is on the floor for some of what transpires. With the short chapters, it’s easy to say one more chapter. For a book with 400+ pages, it sure reads like a short book.

The twist and turns in the story are often and consistent. You’re providing with enough information that makes you questions events so you can anticipate the twists to come. You can also anticipate some of the secrets but even those secrets continue to the end.

This was my first Jane Corry book and it will definitely not be my last. I do have The Stranger in Room Six on my TBR at home and look forward to reading it.

The correct quote: The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.

Rosy is the responsible sister and Amy is a wild free spirit, and the two of them share a secret that they will do anything to protect. When Amy confides in her new psychiatrist James, he starts to suspect that one sister is covering for the other and attempts to dig up the truth. 4/5 for me! Tons of twists that left me questioning which sister to trust and who was hiding what. The narrators did a great job bringing the three main characters to life, which made the audiobook an easy one to follow and get hooked on, while also having you questioning where the story is heading.
