I Carry Your Heart

Rate this book
They say there’s a fine line between love and hate

When it comes in the form of a hot, tattooed bad boy, well…you could excuse a girl for stumbling

He’s my Brother’s best friend and he’s everything I despise

Arrogant, cocky, player…I could go on...

But he’s the only guy I’ll ever want

He treats me like a Sister, when I want to be so much more

He teases and taunts me, not realising his touch drives me wild

I keep my distance, if only to save myself

Until a chance encounter at a party changes everything…

Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18

I don't often leave bad detailed reviews, but... bloody hell, what a torture!

I don't understand how it is possible to turn a promising storyplot into a dreadful, boring, atrocely long storytelling such as this one. 665 pages on my Calibre, and the book ends with a cliffhanger. Not that I mind, because I gave up after roughly 200 pages (9 chapters).

The main problem for me was with the characters. They made no sense to me AT ALL.
The "heroine" is a whinny, cyclothymic, immature chit. She spends her time fawning over the hero (I've lost count on how many times she stops before entering a room to drool over his god-like looks, about which the author gives us 2 full pages of description EACH TIME), wallowing in her own misery (boohoohoo, I'm so pretty and so clever and so in love, my life sucks!!!), freaking out (oh gosh, a gorgeous stranger is hitting on me, quick, I'll just grab my purse and flee and make sure to avoid him at all costs in the future!!!), snapping at everyone, crying (and I mean the curling-up-on-the-bathroom-floor-and-wishing-for-death kind of crying) and fawning some more.
The "hero", besides being the modern reincarnation of Adonis himself, is just without substance. He goes from being a jerk, to being tender and sensitive, to being a jerk again. It's obvious he has daddy issues and can't deal with his emotions well, but that's so cliché I found nothing special with this character, which made heroine's fascination with him all the more weird.
The heroine's brother and mother are not even worth mentionning.
Only the heroine's bestie was fun enough, though the gay-fashion-addicted-best-friend is so expected, his character was really without surprise.

The rythm is completely irrational, dragging for pages and pages at times, going really fast forward at others. Given how long this book is (especially for a serial book!!!!), that's really beyond understanding.

The writing is sluggish, and the book is in serious need of some good editing, making the reading mostly unpleasant.

To sum it up, I had hopes for this book reading the synopsis, but I was sorely disappointed, up to the point I couldn't find the courage to finish it.

I really wanted to be able to give this book 5 stars, because the storyline was a great idea, but I had so many issues with some of the characters that I couldn't even fully enjoy the book. First of all, Izzy was very annoying at times. I get that she's loved him forever, but not only did I feel she forgave him too easily for what he did towards the beginning of the book, her extreme reactions to whatever he did or her insecurities getting in the way were unnecessary to me. She just had these ridiculous mood swings and said so many things that crossed a line of what you should say to someone you're apparently in love with. Then Joel, was just irritating at times. Like I get that his home life isn't the best, but his whole 'I love you but I don't deserve you' act got tired after a while. The other thing that irritates me about him was how many times some girl from his past would show up and get all flirty with him around Izzy. We get it, he was hot and had hooked up a lot in the past. But that doesn't mean every single chapter has to have this issue keep coming up. Literally every time a girl so much as looked at him or breathed in his general direction Izzy would lose her shit. Also the way Izzy's brother reacted to them two being together was just so over the top I couldn't believe it. I can understand him being mad, but how he handled it could've been toned down a bit. I get with romance books there usually is conflicts, insecurities, and other things put into the story, but this book took all those things and put it to the max. If the author could have just dialed down a bit on some of that, I would've really loved this book. The main characters just had too many issues between them for me to actually enjoy the times when their relationship was going well.

WARNING: this book ends with a major cliffhanger that forces you to have to read the next book. If you're like me, then you won't be able to resist reading the next one even if you didn't enjoy the first one much.

I couldn't finish it. Sorry but it wasn't for me. The characters were too childish with their mouse and cat play, they are 18 and 21 for God's sake! He was an ass most of the time (I read a 20% of the book) and she? Man, she was 'ugh' sickly obsessed with him, "irrevocably in love with him" meh... I seriously don't know what she saw in him.
Anyways, even though it wasn't for me, it might be entertaining to someone else.
The ones who purchase it: Hope you enjoy it :)

Ps. Dear author I'm sorry, I usually don't write bad reviews. This is an honest review, and I really hope it will serve as a constructive opinion. Love, Rocio.

Was hard to finish

I chose 1 star for this book because the story kept repeating the same angst over and over again. There were so many spelling and grammar errors that it distracted me from the story at times.

This was actually EXHAUSTING to read. It was just plain horrible, I don't think I've ever read a book with a relationship as abusive and toxic as this. The main characters Izzy and Joel were both horrible and did and say so many stuff to each other to purposely hurt the other. I can't believe I even finished it tbh

Poorly written drivel, riddled with angst, OTT language, and constant swooning. The heroine spends pages swooning over the creepy hero. The first few chapters are an treatise to his good looks. Every time she sees or thinks of him it's another ode to his good looks.

description
MELODRAMATIC, OVERLY ANGST-Y, OTT HEROINE
description

Heroine: a tragic angry tedious ME ME ME MY LIFE IS SO TOUGH BEING BEAUTIFUL little girl, who is also a female hating (actually seems to hate almost everyone including the members of her family and the hero), angst-y, overly emotional, suffering from some sort of mental issue melodramatic prima donna. Almost every page she's ABOUT TO DIE... or THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IS ABOUT TO END.... or she's screaming or shrieking, or crying (like proper sobbing) or hating someone.

HEROINE IS CONSTANTLY SCREAMING, YELLING OR SHRIEKING
description
description
And she appears to have no female friends. No surprise. In the heroine's eyes every girl is a b*tch s*kank wh*ore who wears too much make-up and is after the hero. She isn't even that keen on her own mother.
SO MUCH GIRL-ON-GIRL HATE AND JEALOUSY
description
Every guy (apart from the cliché camp fasionista gay best friend) is a creep, pervert and loser after her. Oh and they're blond.
description

Hero: tall, dark handsome cliché with tats who sleeps around massively (seriously?). From the beginning of the book he's inappropriately touching the heroine and he's as interesting as watching paint dry.
description
The language was the worst bit. I gave up reading after a few chapters. Its' INSTA-LUST, constant swooning (the heroine swoons so often thought she'd end up having cardiac arrest), and the pages upon ages devoted to the hero's good-looks - like almost every chapter has to offer a tribute (WE GET IT - HE IS HOT - CAN WE GET TO THE STORY NOW?!) and the hating and melodramatic emotions, reactions etc was tedious.

Altogether - a pathetic story with pathetic characters.

An okay book!

It was a good book, but I totally dislike Iz. She was whiny, clingy and annoying. She had her heart and mind set on Joel since she was twelve. She found every guy that got near her irritating and perverse. When she didn't even know them, just because a guy checks you out doesn't mean they are perverse. But if Joel did it it was the hots thing in the world. Joel does some mess up shit and I finally find some hope she will grow some balls. She did for a while but she just went back to her clingy over obsessed self. I dislike clingy over dramatic jealous girls on books give some bad ass girl power chick. Not some chick that will be stuck on the same dude even do he messes up At every turn. It's a pretty long book and I stick to reading it to the end. I saw hope again for Iz so I bought the second book let me say is the same thing all over again.
1 star for a great cover and description
1star because even do I dislike Iz their was other like able characters
1 star because it would of been a great story if we would of read about a chick who didn't let a guy step all over her.
* I'm off to write a review for the second book than I didn't feel like finishing.

I was really hoping to like this book but seriously I couldnt wait to finish it. Joel and Izzy are like 2 nutcases from one extreme to another. First there is the hate and brother best friend deal and then it went to the next extreme where they were so in love with each other but at the same time they both had major insecurity issues with each other. Why could they just not be happy with each other instead of always having doubts of "he loves me, he loves me not" or "i dont deserve her but i love you so much" kind of shit. I was already fed up with both of them by half of the book. It seemed like when it was finally at the point that they were happy, Joel or Iz would flip to the negativity and the doubts. I understand the issues Joel had with his father but it was too extreme for someone who was so sexy and had alot going for him like he played football, finished school, had Mike and Iz's family for support, had a job at the pub, no problems with his sex life and have Izzy as his girlfried and then to describe him as the most insecure and lowest self esteem just didnt add up. THe end was even worse for the cliffhanger but I dont think I can go for book 2. Sorry :(

Okay so this book was completely hot and cold. That's the only way I can describe it. One second your falling in love with their love and a second later your heart is breaking with their hearts.

For the most part I liked the characters in this book. I loved how strong and brave Izzy was, but I felt like she was always crying. It didn't matter if she was happy or sad she would just cry and that kind of annoyed me. Joel was the typical "bad boy"" stereotype with daddy issues. The thing about Joel was that his insecurities always got the best of him. My absolute very character was Elijah and I was very disappointed that he was not fully developed as a character and I wanted to know so much more about him. I would totally read a book on just Elijah alone.

To sum it up my opinion on this book was just like their love story, hot and cold. One minute I loved it and the next I was just annoyed. I gave this book three stars because I don't regret reading it and I didn't hate it it just wasn't the best.
long story short though I'll probably read the second one just to find out what happens.

I had a hard time getting into this book. Izzy was so naive and whiny it was hard to relate to her. The hero was the quintessential man whore who couldn't deal with his feelings. I loved Elijah! He was hilarious and a much needed distraction.

it was good until..

It's a pretty good read up until around the 65-70% mark. Then it's a lot of fillers( lots of sex, crying, and exes, etc.). The characters are quite insecure about themselves which was starting to get repetitive and annoying. I don't need to be reminded every time someone cries as to why they are crying- and trust me there's a lot of crying. I skimmed over the last chapters until I got to the very last. That will fill you in on the wtf just happened and makes you curious about the next book, which I'm on now... So hopefully it's gotten a bit better. Love Elijah and Sam, they crack me up :)

Wish I could give this book a 3 1/2, Amazon has got to start that as an option!

I LOVE THIS BOOK. OMG this book is amazing. I couldn't believe I had found a book so good. it is so good. After reading for the first time I couldn't put it down, I swear, I first read it about six months ago I'm still reading it. I gave it four stars instead of five because of the content. The way Joel treated Izzy at the beginning and at the end put me into tears. If it wasn't for the way Izzy was so happy in the middle of the book and the way C.M. King has written the book it would have only gotten two stars

But in all in all the book is amazing and I literally jumped over the moon when I found out there were more books. WOO HOO :)

As soon as I started reading I knew it was a book that was going to have me hooked. From our loud 'Oh My Gods' to the jaw dropping and not being able to read quick enough. Just when you think they had found their happily ever after a tear drops and your heart breaks for Izzy. I have instantly purchased the second one to see what happens I am however hoping that she finds him cradling a small baby bump.......

Such a promising storyline but just dragged far to much for me and I skipped to the end at 70% eeekkk I know but I just needed to know the end... And then it was a cliff!! I read the blurb for book 2 and I just can't read it, another guy to add to the story.

I'm really sorry but it just didn't have it

It's very unusual for me to not finish a book, but I just couldn't finish this. Only made it half way through and even that took some effort. Storyline gave me whiplash and I felt characters were very immature.

An ok read

It was ok. I was frustrated at the amount of time the author spends on the sex scenes. It became monotonous after a while. I was irritated the fact that both of the characters were obsessed with each other, and not in a good way.

Oh man. This was a long drawn out book of two incredibly immature people. Izzy was by far more annoying, but the story had just enough intrigue towards the end to have me wondering what happens next. Yet, I'm not sure I can endure another book.
