They write about me in the papers. They speak my name in the streets. A city legend is a convenient disguise for one's real name and one's motives.
Still, power rises to the surface, no matter how deep its hiding place. And I no longer feel like hiding.
There are intrigues and conspiracies more lethal than any ancient horror. Only I can flush my enemies into the open—and drown them in the tide of their own deception.
I received a review copy of this book. Aquilon is the fifth book in this series, and it brings the story a long way toward conclusion. Many things happen in this piece of the story that change the fortunes of the main character greatly. I'd wager there aren't very many books left in the series, but even so, I liked this book, and most definitely look forward to the next one, which should be an interesting tale of what comes next.
Very engaging story, especially as an American I found that I really enjoy reading eastern bloc writers. Especially as the US administration is embracing the kind of blatant corruption that is reputedly the norm in much of the world. Corrupt nobles and businessmen treat those "beneath their station" as second classes and have no qualms about killing them in job lots , while pursuing their nefarious schemes.
Best book of the series so far and I can't wait for the next volume!! Danilo continues to develop his strength, and deals mercilessly with his enemies. Dr. Svetlova really steps into her own. Great story jeeps getting better.
