Anna Walker writes and illustrates children’s books, including six with author Jane Godwin as well as her own Florette. The illustrator’s imagery is inspired by tiny details in the world around her. She lives in Melbourne, Australia.
Anna Walker has produced another gorgeously illustrated and sparsely narrated picture book in Between. The text begins with a series of opposites while the illustrations allow us to see the story of two characters searching for each other with a happy and successful resolution. As an adult I loved the concept and the book but I am not convinced that children will have the same level of interest or attraction. Nevertheless, I can see the book being a perfect introduction to a writing exercise using opposites to create a narrative as well as to the technique of spatter painting.
