Y’ALL! Addison Chained absolutely wrecked me—in the best, can’t-look-away, heart-in-my-throat way.
This is dark romance with teeth. Addison isn’t a fragile victim waiting to be saved—she’s raw, messy, self-aware, and spiraling, using s3x as both escape and punishment. When a supposedly “safe” hookup goes horrifyingly wrong, the story plunges into kidnapping, sexual violence, and psychological abuse—not for shock value, but as a brutal cautionary tale about control, consent, and survival. Read the triggers. Respect them.
What hooked me? The voice. The writing is sharp, intimate, and unapologetically honest—every scene feels close enough to taste the fear, smell the sweat, and hear the panic in Addison’s head. I flew through this one because every chapter ends with that “okay ONE more” energy. 😮💨📖 And Addison’s inner monologue? Snarky, painful, defiant. She knows she’s playing with fire—and when everything turns into a living hell, her refusal to give up is chilling and empowering at the same time.

First of all—thank you, Victoria, for this personal copy. Truly. Also… thank you for permanently ruining the idea of “meeting someone online.” Love that for me. Really. 🙃
Trigger warnings? Oh, absolutely. If you’re fragile, emotionally stable, or enjoy sleeping peacefully—this isn’t for you. We’re talking rape, torture, kidnapping, corruption… basically a checklist of humanity at its worst. So yeah. Proceed accordingly.
Now… this book did something weird to me.
It made me feel everything—and somehow nothing at the same time.
I was there, reading, watching it unfold… but emotionally? I was a shadow. Detached. Floating just outside of it. And I don’t even fully know why. Maybe it’s a me problem. Maybe it’s trauma. Maybe my brain just went, “Nope, we’re not unpacking this today.” 🙄
And honestly? That distance might’ve been self-preservation.
Because what Addison goes through? It’s not just dark—it’s suffocating.
I loved the pacing though. The buildup? Exactly where it needed to be. No dragging, no rushing—just this steady tightening around your throat.
Addison… she’s already broken before things even start. Carrying a loss no one should have to survive. There’s this emptiness in her, this numb, hollow space—and when you’re that far gone, danger doesn’t feel dangerous anymore. It feels like something. And sometimes something is enough.
She doesn’t open up. Not even to the people closest to her. And then she makes that one decision—you know the one—and everything spirals straight into hell.
What follows? Brutal. Humiliating. Unthinkable.
And still… she fights.
That’s what got me. Not the horror, not the cruelty—but the fact that she keeps going. Keeps resisting. Keeps existing in a place designed to erase her.
But how long can someone actually hold on before they break?
Yeah… I’ll let you sit with that.
The twists? Some of them you see coming from a mile away. And honestly? I didn’t hate that. It makes you read faster, sharper—like you’re trying to catch the story slipping. Like you know something’s off and you’re just waiting for it to explode.
And then other twists?
Yeah. No.
Those hit where you didn’t even know you had something left to feel.
The ending… hmm.
Satisfying? Yes.
Complete? Not quite.
It felt a little abrupt compared to everything that came before. Like I needed just a bit more—more closure, more justice, more… something. Some characters deserved more weight in the aftermath. And I wanted it.
But maybe that’s the point.
Not everything gets wrapped up nicely. Not everything feels fair.
And apparently, I handle fictional suffering a little too well—so here we are at four and a half chained stars.
Because yeah… I was hooked.
If you want a story that wraps itself around your throat and occasionally forgets to let go—this is it.
Also… quick life tip?
Don’t meet strangers from the internet.
And if you do—maybe let someone know where you’re going.

This is the third book I’ve read from Victoria L. Hicks - Author, and I have to say, she is up there with one of my favourite authors.
“Addison Chained” is sharp, raw and to the point. Addison’s past changes who she is, and her way of coping is questionable, which her best friend Barb notices.
Not listening to her friends concerns, she carries on with her antics, which leads her into grave danger.
Detectives are informed of her disappearance and tell Barb, Addison’s best friend that they are looking for her. But, not everything is as it appears.
The twists and turns keep you turning those pages, and the story becomes even more compelling as you move through the book.
Another amazing psychological thriller by this author, and I will continue to follow her journey and support her writing, because it’s extremely good 😊

Typical scenario of so.many.other.books. Girl has been a bad girl, gets kidnapped, is tortured and beaten. Guy slips up, she takes the opportunity to flee. And survives! It's an original!

This book was totally mesmerising and edge of the seat reading. Loved the chapter headings about each character. Story flowed well and left nothing to the imagination. Brutal in places but great to read something that isn’t all ‘fluffy’. Absolutely loved it & hope there will be more like this to come.

Omg this book was so intense. The twists and turns were wild. Once I got into the first chapter, I know I was in this for the long haul. I was immediately pulled in. This one was hell of a thriller. Addy wasn’t about to go quietly it just sit and play victim. This was so wild. I was totally captivated by this one.

A dark, emotional thriller about survival. Hicks accurately touches on psychological control, grief and loss, and other mental health speak. As a therapist, I appreciate the accuracy. There are a ton of surprises and twists here...you will be caught off guard. Please check TWs as there are some very graphic and dark scenes. Victoria L. Hicks is slowly becoming an auto-buy author for me.

Addison Chained is a very intense thriller. Addison attempts to cope with her depression by joining a hookup app, where she meets a man who calls himself “Daddy”—a man who ultimately captures her. While in captivity, she meets another woman, and together they try to escape the clutches of this abusive monster.
Written with multiple POVs, this book is packed with twists. I literally had to put it down a couple of times because my anxiety was through the roof. If you enjoy abduction and captivity tropes, this one is definitely for you. Grab it now!

great quick read.
This book had me hooked from the start. Book is around Addison who already went through a life changing experience. And After a couple of years of just existing she is now facing another unpleasant situation. I really enjoyed this book. :)

Def a good psych thriller read. It was entertaining for those who enjoy these reads. I definitely am a hard one to hook and this did it, I just have been so desensitized no trigger warnings seem to be too much for me.

Hicks does an excellent job portraying grief, depression, and survivor’s guilt, showing how deeply they can fracture a person’s sense of self while still highlighting an unyielding will to survive.

Despite the heavy themes, there’s well-timed humor that provides brief moments of relief, Barb was an absolute standout and a favorite. Just when you think you see where the story is heading, the twisty ending pulls the rug out from under you. Dark, emotional, and impossible to put down.

I did enjoy this. I was hooked from the beginning and it was great right up until the end. Fast paced and a fast read. Now, it was sometimes repetitive in words the author used mostly the word listless. I was annoyed at that and I really thought more would happen within the period that Addy was taken and stuff. Don’t get me wrong it was great but it was just constant a*use and the story didn’t really get deep like I had read with others in the kidnapping scenario. I enjoyed it though and the ending was good too. Let’s just say everyone got that they deserved.
