This was fun little heist novella with a unique take on that story featuring a groups of 80 year olds who want a thousand more years of life, which is actually attainable through the invading alien technology.

Another glimpse into yet another strange yet familiar world. I love how with everything he does McIntosh weaves together a discussion of some current world issue/dabate with realistic and very sympathetic characters and then adds a science fictional element to the whole thing. Put together it's compelling storytelling and I will keep coming back for more. In fact, I would definitely read an entire novel in this setting with these characters and can only hope that the Heist, like "Bridesicle" will become his next book.

I'd recommend this for a short look into what seems like just the beginning of a weird and wonderful story. What if you could bet years instead of money? Win 10,000 more years of life? Or lose everything? What is behind the curtain of this life exchanging technology? A group of seniors are set to find out as they attempt to rob an alien casino for all the years locked in it's vault.
