Welcome to Taurus Ranch, where the romance is high-heat and heartfelt, and the cowboys are cow men.
Broke, jobless, and surrounded by exes and friends I’m pretty sure don’t actually like me, I’m at my wits’ end. So when I get a call that my estranged grandma died and gave me half her guest ranch, I do the only logical thing—pack up my entire life and move across the country to a place I haven’t been since I was six.
Reckless? Absolutely. In my defense, I have nothing to lose.
Or so I thought. Turns out that the ranch has seen better days and needs a miracle to bring it back to life. To make matters worse, Cal, the grumpy minotaur who got the other half of the ranch, seems determined to make my life a living hell.
Too bad for him, I’m as stubborn as the ranch’s namesake. This is my chance to start over and find a place where I belong, and I won’t give up because some rude, annoyingly hot cow man thinks I’m not good enough.
As we learn to work together, stern glares and cutting barbs give way to lingering glances and flirty banter. But wanting Cal is far more dangerous than hating him. My heart can’t handle being tossed aside by yet another man, and I refuse to run away from what I’m building.
But when he puts his hat on my head and calls me “darlin’”, how am I supposed to resist him?
Cowboy rom com meets monster romance in this sweet and spicy story of a fish out of water human FMC trying to rediscover her roots and the experienced minotaur rancher MMC who can’t lose the only place he’s ever called home. Expect witty banter, a grumpy x sunshine slow burn that still packs plenty of heat, and a colorful cast of characters that will have you wanting to revisit the ranch again soon!
Emily loves cozy, emotional, and spicy romances with a monstrous twist. When she isn’t musing on the merits of doting, dominant monsters, she reads an obscene amount of romance novels, and cultivates her eccentric recluse persona.
Prewarning - there is a LOT of cock mentioned in this book ;)
Safe to say I now want to move to a ranch run by Minotaurs.
Emily never fails to keep me entertained and not quite knowing where the story will go next.
Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man is definitely a sweet but spicy 'monster' romance with a twist. Belle is lost, she has no job, no real friends (except Gretchen) and no reason to stick around and be tormented by fake friends and douchey exs. A chance meeting with a Tarot reader and a surprise call from a Lawyer completely change her life and I loved every second of it. She's sassy, stubborn and very easy to identify with (being a neurodivergent chaos gremlin myself) and I love how she refuses to back down.
Cal is grumpy, filled with anxiety and you just want to hug him and slap him 90% of the time. He is also hot AF. Flannel clad, muscular Minotaurs in cowboy hats are a kink I never knew I had. His story is a little heartbreaking and you can see why he feels the way he does about the ranch and about having Belle suddenly appear.
I loved the two of them together, it's very Grumpy x Sunshine but the sunshine has a few rain clouds of her own rolling in.
This story is unquestionably a slow burn romance but absolutely worth reading because it will hit you in all the feels. The spice is spicing between these two but it is also very tender and caring.
5 stars all day long, cant wait for the rest of the series and what happens with all the other Cow Men at Taurus Ranch
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve downloaded and devoured an entire 350+ page ARC on the day that I received it, but the stars aligned and my bodymind allowed it — so, devoured I did. Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man was such a fun and genuinely funny romp that it was all too easy to curl up and spend the afternoon indulging in the escape that Taurus Ranch offers.
I have to say that I never expected the cowboy/rancher subgenre and associated romance tropes to spill over into the alien and monster romance genre, but I honestly love that it is having its moment right now. And imho Emily Antoinette’s addition to the new sub-genre is an invaluable one, because while it does have the deviously delicious spice and unique monstrous features that the MonsterRom genre is adored for, it has SO much more than that. Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man has some of the best sexual tension and playful banter I’ve read in ages, a heavy dose of heartfelt moments with bittersweet grief expertly woven in, hallmark-movie-esque romance beats and setting that feel familiar in a nostalgic way, and a ton of hilarious rooster and bull jokes (as well Emily’s usual signature humor that I cannot get enough of) thrown in for good measure. Add to that well-fleshed out supporting characters that are as integral to the story as they are charming, a feisty FMC that doesn’t back down from a challenge that you can’t help but root for, an equally stubborn but soft-hearted minotaur MMC that is the perfect mix of competence and vulnerability, and a pesky potentially magical rooster. All of those things come together in a nearly impossible to put down story that I’m eager to see become one of the must-read staples for this niche community.
It’s so hard to say much more without spoilers, so I hope that my fellow readers will see this and take it as the sign they’re looking for to pick the story up and give it a chance. And I hope that Emily Antoinette considers writing more in this world, because I for one, would LOVE to see August find his sweetheart too (and lets be real, Remy and Wiley, and even Rhett too, lol).
Thank you so much to Emily and her team for the opportunity to be an early reader for this super sweet genre melding monster cowboy romance! I enjoyed it immensely 💙
Tropes: minotaur x human • grumpy x sunshine • slow burn • size difference • found family • cowboy... well, cowman!
I received an advance review copy (ARC) and am sharing my honest, unbiased review.
Let's take a trip to Taurus Ranch!
This is such a warm book, a read-by-the-fire-when-the-winds-blow-in-the-fall book 💓
While this is definitely a romance story as well, more than anything else, this book is about a girl who is given a new chance at life - but it's a chance she has to carve out herself inch by inch. Yes, she's given a ranch, but it's on the verge of ruin and her presence is not welcome AT ALL.
Cal makes absolutely sure she has to fight for the chance even more than she already had to. Being absolutely convinced that Belle is out to destroy the farm - well, technically the first thing she does is destroy the farm... sign. I would like to have seen a little more grovel on his part. I love the grovel - who doesn't? - but it's not really a thing, other than he apologizes and feels bad.
The story is very unlike anything else I've read by Emily Antoinette. It is an extremely slow burn and the spice doesn't start spicing before 85%-ish. (Which is why I note that this is more a journey of healing and growth for Belle than a romance.) While I enjoyed the book, I missed the spice. Emily Antoinette is, in my opinion, one of the uncrowned queens of spice, and I felt a bit cheated of her talents.
This book is for you if you want a warm read of a woman's journey through healing to independence. And minotaurs! Aaaaaall the minotaurs!!
4.25. Thank you to Emily Antoinette for sending me an ARC of Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man in exchange for an honest review.
This was a delightful cowboy romance with a twist, I had a great time!!
Belle is floating through life - her “friends” don’t seem to like her, she’s lost her job and she’s broke af. She gets an unexpected call informing her that her grandma has died and left her half of her ranch. With nothing tying her to her life in the city, she packs up and decides to move across the country to the ranch she’s not set foot on since she was a kid. What’s the worst that could happen?
Cal is the grumpy Minotaur who owns the other half of the ranch. The last thing he needs is some city girl showing up and deciding she knows best or worse, selling the ranch to make a quick buck. These two are as stubborn as one another, and have to learn how to work together. The snipping and hazing soon becomes flirty banter and pining, but it’s not like anything could actually happen between them…right?
Cowboy romance with a monster twist, I fucking loved this! It was light and fluffy but also dealt with the weight of grief, expectations, self doubt..what a treat!
Belle was a chaotic ball of sunshine, I loved her and her bedazzled cowgirl aesthetic. She was giving cowgirl barbie, which is honestly just a dream 💖 her sassy, stubborn streak was so relatable, I too will do things I don’t want to just to spite a man! Also, her bond with Doodle was 🤌🐓
Cal, my anxiety riddled grumpy king. ILY. I would have been infuriated with him 80% of the time too if I were in Belle’s boots, but I say that with love. His possessive, jealous yearning was delish. No notes!
The found family aspect was lovely, always one of my favourite parts of these books and Emily Antoinette did not disappoint. I loved every character on that dang ranch, and I cannot wait for the next book (daddy August, pls?)
Considering this was a cowboy monster romance, I was expecting this to be a LOT of spice and not a lot of plot. I am blown away by the heart in this story, and the fact that this was such a slow burn! What an unexpected, but hugely appreciated, surprise. Yearning and pining leading up to a “fuck it” moment always hits just right.
Please don’t let the title or idea of the MMC bring a Minotaur put you off if this isn’t in your wheelhouse, if you are a romance fan I am confident you will have a fun time with this one!
“She doesn’t realize it, but I don’t need Belle to convince me of anything. I already know I misjudged her. I already know she’s special.”
“She doesn’t realize it, but I don’t need Belle to convince me of anything. I already know I misjudged her. I already know she’s special.”
══════ ❀ ══════
This was such a cute book. I really needed something low angst, and this absolutely hit the spot. The ranch setting was adorable, the atmosphere was cosy as hell, and all the cock jokes had me giggling like an idiot. It knew exactly what kind of book it wanted to be and just leaned right into it.
Cal definitely frustrated me at first. He was so prickly that I just wanted Belle to kick his ass. But the second he started softening toward Belle, I started softening too. Watching him go from grumpy pain in the ass to the anxious, quietly sweet Minotaur he was, completely won over. And Belle was so relatable to me. Running mostly on stubbornness, wounded pride, and an almost embarrassing need to prove yourself? Yeah. I get her. She is me fr.
What held this back from being a full five stars was honestly the lack of description. I had such a hard time picturing everyone. For a book with minotaurs, I really wanted more. I kept waiting for more details about Cal, more of August beyond being dappled, more of Belle, just something to really lock them into my head. I constantly had to look at the covers to picture them.
I also desperately want more about how the minotaurs came to Earth, because every little mention of that sounded genuinely fascinating and I wanted to know everything immediately.
Onve this book finally stopped dancing around the tension and got to the spice… whew. HAWT. Very hot. The kind of hot that makes you understand why Belle owned that pink sparkly toy. Overall, I really adored this. Sweet, funny, low stress, and exactly what I needed. If the next book is August and Gretchen, I will be there so fast.
P.S Doodle won my heart and I want a Rooster who purrs.
This was seriously the book I didn't even know I needed in my life! It was such a perfect blend of monster romance mixed with a cowboy vibe. We get the classic "city girl" who is totally down on her luck and suddenly finds herself the owner of a ranch she knows absolutely nothing about. Then there’s the grumpy "cow-man" who has been running the place. He is immediately defensive and just wants her gone. I’d definitely call this a frenemies-to-lovers story with a hell of a slow burn, but trust me, the build-up is so WORTH IT!
Cal had me absolutely swooning. He has that perfect "I’m grumpy and kinda mean (but not too mean) because I’m secretly a total softie" thing going on. Plus, the banter between him and Belle was total perfection. Between Belle’s sassy "try me" attitude and Cal’s bullheadedness, the snipes and tension were the perfect foreplay.
Belle was such a fun character! Her slight awkwardness mixed with her determination to prove everyone wrong made her so dynamic and interesting. I especially loved her little bit of payback to those unexpected ranch guests. I was honestly giggling the whole time!
The side characters were also quite memorable. "Cow Daddy" August was definitely a favorite, and I really hope we get some sort of happy ending for him. I also need way more info on what happened with Dutch. Gretchen is the perfect BFF who definitely needs her own book. And finally, we have to talk about Doodle! I always love an animal sidekick, and Doodle performed his duties to perfection. Not to mention, the amount of "rooster" jokes that were made because of him was top-tier.
This book was amazing and I truly can't wait to see where the author takes us next!
I wanna start by saying thank you so much to Emily for allowing me to read this as an arc. And I'm so excited to see where this series goes.
This is my first Minotaurs style book I have ever read and I don't think it will be my last 🤣. I mean god damn grumpy cowman cowboy eat your heart out. I want to also add that the artwork for the cover is super cute. The map is adorable and loved the colours and plus a map is helpful to workout where we are within the ranch in the book. Plus the sudden artwork in the book *blush* oh HELLO 🤣 god damn. I wasn't expecting it but it was super funny as well.
The storyline was so sweet as it was a slow burn romance which I loved as it allowed Belle and Cal to bond with each other. Seeing as he was literally a stubborn ass when he discovered Belle was coming to stay. And poor Belle just wanted a fresh start after losing her job and discovering her poor grandmother she loved had passed away.
Alongside the main character we have some amazing side characters which I loved and hope to see in the next books maybe even a little cow daddy book with his girls. Not saying anymore for spoiler reason 🤣. Plus many jokes about cocks I think that's the most cocks I've read about. (Plus love the name).
I will say the only thing I wish it had a bit more of was spice. It had a little bit to be a spicy book however I kinda hoped for a bit more. But otherwise it kept the book flowing and added to their romance.
I can't wait to see where this series goes and who the next book will be about.
Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man! A Minotaur Cowboy Romance Tauras Ranch Book One
Author: Emily Antoinette Release: May 15, 2026
Genre: Monster Romance, Minotaur Cowboy Romance, Rom Com
Tropes: Size Difference, Grumpy x Sunshine, Slow Burn, Found Family
This was a cozy minotaur rom com with a slow burn and a bit of spice. Perfect for readers who want to dip their two into the world of Minotaur’s but don’t want to be scared away! Cal (MMC) AKA Grumpy Jerkface & Belle (FMC) are the perfect blend of grumpy cinnamon roll and sassy sunshine. After dealing with a group of the worst friend a person could imagine, we follow the FMC to her grandmother’s ranch only to crash into a sign when a crazy rooster runs into the road. The meeting of the FMC & MMC is chef’s kiss. Doodle is the Disney princess sidekick no one expected. The amount of surprise bedazzled clothes is hysterical and our girl owns it. We can tell by the get go that Belle is in her element, but she needs to earn Cals trust – she hasn’t done anything wrong, but we get to learn histories for both characters. There was so much that happened in this book to keep the story interesting – here’s looking at you ‘The Rodeo’ that it was such an easy read. The characters were written well and settings well described, while there is a ranch map in the book it was easy to visualize the ranch/lodge/town. The intro of Rhett made me bust a gut and fingers crossed that we see August in book 2!
This was my first step into minotaur romance, and honestly, the title alone completely captivated my imagination — I just had to give it a try.
Filled with innuendo, jokes and light-hearted banter, this turned out to be a really sweet slow-burn romance. With hints of Beauty and the Beast, human Belle finds herself thrown into the path of grumpy Cal, her minotaur business partner, and things definitely don’t start off smoothly.
That rocky beginning eventually gives way to a strong, believable bond between the two main characters. The author has clearly put a lot of effort into the world-building — there’s even a map of Taurus Ranch in the book — and the fun, interesting background characters make it impossible not to fall in love with the setting.
It’s surprisingly easy to forget the cross-species aspect of the relationship, as the minotaurs are simply accepted as they should be. It’s a sweet, monster-based romance with a happy-ever-after ending, although I would have loved to see the hinted-at proposal actually happen.
I wasn’t entirely sure what I was letting myself in for when I opened this book, but the story was genuinely sweet. The build-up takes most of the book, yet it feels paced just right, and the characters come across as authentic and well written.
I very much loved this book and can’t wait to see what happens next on the ranch if Emily continues the journey. A solid 4.5 stars — a more defined conclusion would have made it a full five.
Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man was such a fun, spicy, cozy monster romance. Belle is 27, struggling with ADHD, a fear of failure, and trying to figure out what she wants out of life after losing her job. When she inherits half of her grandmother’s ranch, she heads there hoping for a fresh start and a chance to feel connected to something meaningful again. Then there’s Cal — the grumpy, hardworking Minotaur ranch manager who is NOT thrilled about suddenly having a co-owner 😮💨 The banter between these two was genuinely one of my favorite parts of the book. Belle brings complete chaos while Cal is all structure and responsibility, and the dynamic works so well. The ranch/social media storyline was hilarious, especially once Belle’s posts start gaining attention online 👀🐂 The chemistry between Belle and Cal?? SO GOOD. The tension, the flirting, the spicy moments… were perfection. I also really loved the cozy ranch atmosphere and the found family vibes throughout the story. August (Cal’s best friend) added so much warmth and humor whenever he was on page. Doodle (the cock)was always on the loose causing chaos. Underneath all the humor and spice, this story also had a lot of heart. Watching Belle slowly gain confidence in herself and realize she’s more capable than she thinks was really satisfying. If you love: 🐂 Monster romance 🤠 Grumpy x sunshine 🔥 Spicy banter 🏡 Cozy ranch vibes 💻 Social media chaos 💕 Found family & healing …you definitely need this one.
“Let me make one thing clear, darlin’. I don’t do anything I don’t want to. So either tell me you want me to stop because you don’t want this. Or quit worrying, be a good girl, and do as I say” - Cal. * * No need to tell me twice 🫠 This is like nothing I’ve read before. Minotaur x human, grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, self healing journey, slow burn and the insane amount of the word ‘cock’ flying across the pages 🤣
I absolutely adored this read! It had me giggling a lot! The banter quips were top notch. The FMC Belle took no crap from no one and loved a challenge to prove people wrong 💪 Cal was your typical grumpy cow man. He knows best, doesn’t need help from nobody and does what he can to drive Belle away. But due to her stubbornness, it doesn’t quite go as easily as planned. And of course, every cowboy romance needs that furry companion. In this case we had a Rooster called ‘Doodle’. A Complete menace but adorably loveable towards those he trusts. If he doesn’t like you, you’ll know about it 😆. * * * I don’t want to say too much because it’ll be too easy for me to give the story and elements away. But it was fantastic.
So thank you Emily for the opportunity to read an ARC of this 🤩 I can’t wait to see what happens next at the ranch! Especially with “Cow Daddy” 🤭
Oh my GOSH. My first Emile Antoinette book and you’re telling me I waited this long?! Because this was an absolute banger. I was locked in from page one and didn’t come up for air. And the slow burn was just perfect! I could literally turn around and reread it right now like I don’t have responsibilities.
Belle is that girl. Independent, stubborn, and absolutely refuses to be told what to do, which, honestly, same. She will go out of her way to prove someone wrong and I support that level of petty determination. But she also knows exactly what she wants and goes after it with zero hesitation. QUEEN.
And Cal… sir. You can try to act all big, bad, tough minotaur, but we all see the truth. This man is SOFT. Like, embarrassingly soft when it comes to Belle. Ooey gooey doesn’t even begin to cover it. But also, the pride & the need to do everything perfectly. He really wants to make sure everything its the best it can be.
Together they just work. The chemistry & the tension are amazing. And somehow, it’s not even just them. The entire farm cast had me invested like I was ready to pack my bags and move in.
Emily really said “you’re not just reading this book, you’re living here now,” and honestly… I didn’t fight it.
Buckle up, because this ride is fun, chaotic, and a little bit addictive.
Save a Horse, Ride a Cow man is a cowboy minotaur romance and a standalone story (with a HEA for the main characters) in an interconnected series, Taurus Ranch. Think cowboy rom-com meets monster romance plus sweet spice. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author for my eArc.
Tropes and themes include: ✨Grumpy x sunshine ✨Only one horse ✨Neurodiversity rep (ADHD) ✨Banter ✨“Breathe with me” ✨She’s stubborn to the max ✨Size difference ✨Slowburn ✨“Good girl” ✨Found family ✨Stargazing ✨Fish out of water FMC ✨Dual, first person POV
Rating: 4/5 Stars 3/5 Flames Nickname: Darlin’
The Lovely: I loved this kind of cozy and sweet, but also spicy, monster romance. Many of the male characters are minotaurs (or cow/bull men). It was cute and kind of funny at times (mostly due to a meddlesome rooster). All around, this made for a fun read!
The Mundane: The story felt a little too long to me, I think due to some prolonged inner monologues. Some of these were starting to seem kind of repetitive.
Recommendation: This book is full of cute chaos with a side of monster spice. If you’re in the mood for a cowboy ranch staffed by minotaurs with a new human owner and all the found family vibes, I think you might like this book.
As a Taurus girls this book is so important to me haha! 💜♉️
Not but seriously even though the astrology is not the main plot of this story, it did sets the tone of the beginning of Belle’s journey and that felt magical and ominous.
Belle’s journey takes her to Taurus ranch, which is co owned by her and Cal, yes, a Minotaur… who’s grumpy, very reserved and that is not completely sure of what’s this city girl means for his precious ranch. Luckily, Belle’s stubborn, enchanting personality and general sweetness is going to win him over and believe me, this cow man doesn’t make her life easy!
This is a very slow burning, their relationship is slowly turning into something else but first they have a lot of tension between them to burn! I really enjoyed the rhythm of their story, the slow pace gives us as readers the chance of enjoying every little moment as a much deserved and sweet milestone.
The second characters were so sweet and easygoing, that bunch of Minotaurs really stole your heart! Of course my favorite being August, that old man is as sweet as sexy and witty haha
And lastly, Doodle, he’s the ranch’s most prominent character, I still think he is a magician, because how the hell he manages to scape all the time!! Haha
Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man is book one in the Taurus Ranch series. This delivered a Minotaur cowboy romance with slow burn and a lot of cock. Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm referring to Doodle a meddlesome rooster. Don't worry there is plenty of spice too. Belle has a determined personality and if you tell her she can't do it, she will do her damndest to get it done while plotting ways to murder you with huge grin on her face. I can relate to this completely. Cal comes in hot and ready to drive Belle away. When that fails he comes in hot from a different angle and that method is successful. So these two personalities do a little clashing, they have shared grief, develop a friendship and eventually shared respect. There were a lot of chuckles and I enjoyed all the side characters. I can't wait to see what happens with August, Remy, Wylie and Rhett. Hopefully Gretchen finds some love too. True Emily fashion, this was a fun read that I was reluctant to put down.
And you know your limits, so read the author's content warnings. I received a copy of this book from Emily Antoinette, and this is my honest review.
As my monster romance renaissance continues, I find myself drawn to gentle giants, slice-of-life, slow burns, and tongue-in-cheek self-awareness. Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man has all that in spades!
Cal and Belle's relationship shifts believably over the course of the story from begrudged business partners, to friends, to lovers, as they share the common goal of saving Taurus Ranch. It's sweet, spicy, funny, and an absolute delight. A few scenes really stuck out to me, like when Belle starts crying with fear at the sight of a horse, and Cal -- who up to that point was essentially trying to scare her off the ranch, drops the act and comforts her. Or learning that the big surly minotaur cowpoke's favourite colour is pink.
Knowing this is the first in a series was an interesting experience, meeting characters and then seeing the breadcrumb trail leading to entries still to come. I do wish that some of the side characters got more of a chance to shine as such (I'm thinking specifically about Dutch, who existed almost entirely in the periphery of the story before disappearing).
It was so insanely cute. I related to Belle so much (maybe a little too much sometimes🤣). She has struggled with her job and personal life for a while, so when she inherits part of her grandmother’s ranch, she takes a leap of faith and moves there.
Cal has no interest in some city girl coming to take over the ranch he’s been living for. But surprisingly the girl in her sparkly cowgirl outfits ends up putting her entire heart into reviving the ranch.
This chemistry between the characters is off the charts and was a very realistic slow burn. I adore how Emily writes her characters with so much depth. There’s a lot of humour in this book and yet so many heartfelt moments that made me tear up too.
This book had so many of my favourite tropes. You have a grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, a slow burn romance, a lot of banter, a possessive swoony mmc, a strong and sweet fmc and a big dose of humour. (And quite a few 🐓 jokes).
I wish I could move to Taurus Ranch myself so I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Thank you Emily for the chance to read this ARC in return for an honest review🥰
4.5 stars. This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast-paced, sweet and steamy, size difference, fish out of water/opposites attract, western contemporary fantasy romantic comedy between ranch co-owners, Cal, the male minotaur rancher lead, and the female human granddaughter of the now-deceased previous owner of the ranch (and his adopted mother/grandmother) lead, Belle. I empathised with the struggles of Cal’s anxiety and Belle’s ADHD, as well as their mutual grief over the death of Belle’s grandmother. I enjoyed Belle’s determination to succeed at this new venture and to find a space where she felt she belonged. I enjoyed Cal’s determination to make the ranch succeed and preserve his home. I chuckled at his machinations to push Belle to leave. I laughed at the banter. I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially the indomitable rooster. I enjoyed the building relationship and steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the found family vibes and the emotional growth of the characters. I enjoyed the scene setting and am looking forward to more in this series.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
The cover had me hooked from the start. Cowboys? Tick. Cowboy Minotaurs? Tick, tick, tick!
Belle is feeling a bit lost in life when a tarot reading hints that change and good things are coming her way. Soon after, she learns that her estranged grandmother has passed away and left her half of Taurus Ranch. If that’s not a sign from the universe, I don’t know what is.
She packs up her life in the city and moves to the ranch, where she meets Cal the co-owner who has been working tirelessly to keep it running after the death of Dawn, someone who was like family to him. Understandably, he assumes the worst when Belle, Dawn's granddaughter, suddenly shows up, having never met her before.
But Belle is determined to prove the very hot, very grumpy minotaur wrong. She wants to make the ranch her home and a success.
This book is full of found family, slow-burn romance, and set against the backdrop of a beautiful ranch complete with hot minotaurs and some very cheeky COCKerels.
I’m so excited to see more from this world and the characters we got to know so well in this story.
How many cock jokes can you fit in a book? Turns out, quite a few!
Human Belle & Minotaur Cal seem to have been pushed together by Belle’s grandmother, Dawn, who left Taurus Ranch to them both when she passed. The Ranch is struggling; so when Belle arrives with gusto, Cal is immediately on the offensive. He doesn’t trust her, & does everything in how power to make her turn around & go back where she came from. But Belle is a stubborn woman, & if someone says she can’t do it - she’ll prove them wrong. Standing up to Cal, you can feel the tension as their relationship begins to morph into something more.
I love a cowboy romance; & merging cowboy and monster romance is genius. When the stars align for Belle & Cal, & things get hot & heavy between them, the spice cranks up. This slow burn, forced proximity, found family monster romance will have you page turning quicker than it takes for (potentially magical) cock, Doodles, to escape from his enclosure 😂
I received an ARC for this book, and you can’t believe how fast I downloaded and read this book in under a day. 🤣 I absolutely adored this from start to finish. It was such a sweet hallmarky slowburn romance with minotaurs. I loved the banter between Cal and Belle. It was probably one of the highlights of the book for me, especially with all the cock puns 🤣 shoutout to Doodle. 🐓 I actually didn’t mind that this was a little bit of a slower burn. Plus when the spice got going it was hotttt 🔥 I just melted at how sweet they were together too.
I really hope we get more books to the series with the other cow men on the ranch like August and Rhett. Also Remy and Wylie, they were fun side characters in this one. I wasn’t ready to leave the Taurus Ranch world ✨ I’m here for this minotaur cowboy era.
Thanks so much to Emily and her team for the ARC ❤️❤️
Yee to the haw!! 🤠 Thank you so much for the ARC and for having me on the team!
This was such a fun read, I was giggling and kicking my feet more times than I can count. I loved watching their relationship unfold, and the puns + tension? Elite.
Now listen… I did spend a good chunk of this book wanting to gently (okay, aggressively) shake them and say JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER 😂 Communication struggles are a personal pet peeve, so that’s more of a me thing…but it definitely had me yelling at my Kindle.
I also wouldn’t have complained about a little more spice 👀 I’m not exactly a slow-burn girly, but even with that, I still had such a great time with this one.
Overall: charming, funny, and full of cowboy chaos, I’d definitely recommend!
Absolutely loved this take on a cowboy romance from Emily Antoinette! It starts off as a meet-ugly with a little bit rivals-to-lovers, with ranch hand Cal believing that city girl Belle is here to tear down his only home, after her grandma leaves it to her in her will. Luckily, Belle and Cal both want the ranch to do well and end up on the same side. As they work together to save the ranch, they end up falling together too.
This was a really low-angst romance, which I loved. The rivalry at the beginning never got so bad that it made me doubt the relationship between Cal and Belle, and their relationship evolved naturally over the slow-burn. My only complaint is once they got together, I did want to see more of them and their relationship.
The cast of side characters was also wonderful! I want to see August and Rhett get their romances next!

**Book one in the new Taurus Ranch series**
This was SO much fun. Cal & Belle were absolutely perfect together and the grumpy/sunshine dynamic delivered.
Belle is sweet, quirky, and impossible not to love, while Cal is that perfect mix of grumpy, protective, slightly possessive cowboy energy.
But honestly? Doodle the chicken nearly stole the whole book. That bird had me laughing out loud more than once with his absolute menace behaviour.

Sweet, steamy, and totally bingeable. Belle’s determined fresh start energy is such a mood, and watching her push through self doubt while falling for Cal is the kind of emotional pay off romance addicts live for. The banter is witty, the flirtation sizzles, and those small, soft scenes (you know the ones) hit right in the chest. The slow burn chemistry builds with perfect little payoffs, and every reluctant “darlin’” landed like a sucker punch to my heart. This book blends romcom comfort with monster romance spice in a way that’s endlessly rereadable. Bring tissues for the heart melty parts and maybe something else for the spicy ones. 👀
Thank you to Emily for providing me with a copy of Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Man. As always, my opinions are my own.
Thank you to Emily for letting me be apart of her ARC team!
Oh yes, absolutely yes. If you like your men in monster form and you especially like them wearing cowboy hats, look no further for you've found the perfect book for you. This was such a great well written cowboy romance that jist checked all the boxes. Belle and Cal were so cute together and the two of them are absolutely one of my favorite book couples.
The writing was well done, the story flowed well, and the plot was all there. Interesting it wasn't all that spicy considering it's a monster romance, which isn't typically the norm, but the spice that was there was fantastic.
Definitely recommend to my fellow minotaur lovers!
⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️ (4.5⭐️ ) Man the slow burn that I loved every second of. The rivalry/enemies to lovers, size difference, and just overall banter between these two made it such a fun and wonderful read. Who doesn't like some bedazzled pink denim and some grumpy minotaur "handlebars". This felt like a spicy hallmark western in the absolute best way possible. Belle and Cal were the perfect foils to each other, really bringing out the best in each other once they took a second to see each others true intentions for the ranch and the legacy of Dawn. I especially loved August and the other Minotaur crew, they were so silly and sweet, I hope we see more of them and their future loves as this series continues!
