Rana Schehera is fully content with her simple life. Kamaran knew the throne was inevitable, but he wasn’t prepared for it to be his so soon. Now, reeling from loss and weighed down by the crown he never wanted and the responsibilities he never cared for, his council of viziers has added insult to injury by arranging for him to select a bride. His plan is Go through the motions, eliminate a prospect each week, and hope that by the end, the last one standing will be at least tolerable. What he didn’t plan for was the pragmatic princess with an obsession for needlework and stories that capture his imagination.
With each evening that passes, Rana begins to see that Kamaran is more than the fickle, irresponsible Sultan he pretends to be, and she wants to be the one to fill the empty spaces in his heart. But as the end of the competition draws near, it becomes all too clear that the story she’s weaving may never have a happy ending.

4 stars ⭐️ Clean Fiction - Fairytale Retelling (no actual magic, but a fairytale/children’s bedtime story is told has magic)
Be still my fairytale loving heart; these two were so cute and so good together. 🥹🥹🥹
As soon as I finished the book, I went to buy a physical copy because this was such a great story. This book is set in the same world as one of my favorite books by this author, “A Wishful Hope”, and we get to see some special characters again. 🥹 I wish I would have reread that book before starting this one, but I was honestly too excited to wait. I’ll make sure I reread it and this book before Jasper gets his own story one day. (Because I refuse to believe that he’s not going to be the star of his own book, thankyouverymuch.) Jasper is such a menace of a little brother character; I just love him.
I also love how Sarah Beran shares the gist of the original fairytale at the beginning of all of her stories—she is so much better at summarizing them than Wikipedia and makes it so entertaining. Even the recipe in the back of the book was in her humorous writing style. 😂
Out of the seven books I’ve read in this multi-authored series, this is the first one with the male love interest having a POV and thus the book having a Male Main Character as well! Which perfectly fit the book because we needed to have Kamaran’s viewpoint in this book. Their banter back and forth made me laugh multiple times and they were so cute together (I already said this, but it deserves to be said again)!
Such a good retelling and such a good story overall! Also, I have to give a shout out to Rana’s grandmother, Teta, because she reminded me of the grandmother from Mulan. 😉

10/10!!!! ARC Review - A Filling Fables and Firelight by Sarah Beran.
A 1001 Nights retelling and possibly my favorite book so far in the series. I have never heard of the original fairytale, but it sounds very interesting and this retelling was amazing. It was filled with awesome humor, love and heartbreak all together. Also a book with two animal companions and I adored both.
Rana was a super FMC. Strong willed and not afraid to speak her mind. She went to the palace with a strong opinion of the Sultan.
Kamaran was also a very likable character and you can’t help but love him and wanting to see him succeed after everything you learn about him.
The humor throughout the book was my highlight! Sarah really knows how to write those lines and the absolute best comparisons to things where you can just see this picture in year head and burst out laughing.
It’s easy to read and understandable with a flowing story.
I also want to read the story of Aida which is an important side character.
Highly recommend to any reader who needs a fun and lovely story. It’s a no spice, clean fairytale retelling and will re-read this book any day.

I received this ebook arc in exchange for an honest review. Sarah Beran does it again! This was SO good! She is definitely one of my favorite fairytale retelling authors of all time! I haven’t read a 1,000 nights retelling and this did not disappoint! The cover is stunning! Rana was a character and I loved her! Her sass and wit was great! I really liked that she was a seamstress. That was so interesting to see. I loved Kamaran! He was sweet, charming and funny! They were perfect for each other. I loved every second of them together! Their banter was hilarious. I was cheering them on from the start! This whole story was SO good! I highly recommend! This is definitely one of my favorites by Sarah Beran! I can’t wait to buy my physical copy!

A Filling of Fables and Firelight was ADORABLE!!! What a fabulous and unique retelling of 1001 nights. I’m going to tell you a secret: *whispers* I can’t stand the “widowed” trope (In most cases). I’m so happy to read a version that doesn’t involve offed wives and an insane MMC. Crazy, right?! A completion is such a lovely replacement.
I cannot stress how much I love Rana and Kamaran! They have such a sweet but teasing relationship. Rana is so relatable. I, too, would like to stay holed up working on my projects. Kamaran is such a sweetheart. He’s a bit of a flirt but his heart is in the right place and I ached for him. I was also delighted to see characters from A Wishful Hope! Beran’s stories are so much fun because of all the cameos. All in all, I really loved this story and can’t wait to see if any other stories appear in the same world. I would adore a story for Jasper *hint, hint*.

My synopsis
When the Sultan suddenly dies, his irresponsible son Kamaran is pushed into power. Knowing the new Sultan needs a level headed ruler by his side, his viziers look for a bride amongst the surrounding nations. But Kamaran's reputation as a notorious flirt is making things difficult, with heartbroken princesses refusing the offer. In desperation, his viziers reinstate the archaic Queen's Contest, inviting high society women to compete for the Sultan's hand, much to Kamaran's dismay and his wishes to marry for love.
For seamstress Rana, the Queen's Contest is a golden opportunity to profit off the sudden demand for beautiful gowns. But when she's summoned to the palace as the contestants personal seamstress, she finds more than just fashion drama. Mistaking Rana for a secretive contestant, Kamaran begins stealing away from the crowded contest to catch moments with her and the stories she spins. But as danger threatens and their secrets are revealed, can love blossom despite their differences?
My review
This sweet story was so fun with loveable characters in a vibrant world, although the romance was a little fast-paced romance, and I felt like I was missing references because I didn't realise there was a connected prequel.
What I enjoyed:
- I loved the fun twist of Rana being the seamstress helping the contestants in the bride competition rather than a contestant herself as it leant to more natural friendship developing before the romance began.
- The world was beautifully described and filled with colour.
- Rana was a strong, independent lead and I loved that she wasn't intimidated by Kamaran's status as the Sultan at all, frequently putting him in his place while also encouraging and supporting him.
- I love when a main character has an animal companion, and Zade was an adorable fennec fox who fit into the story really well!
- Including the recipe for Adhavian Delight (i.e., Turkish delight) at the end of the book was such a sweet touch
What didn't quite work for me:
- While I loved that Rana and Kamaran built a sweet friendship first, when the romance appeared it moved a little too fast. Given how long the story was spread over, I had hoped for more character interactions and subplot development before the romance overtook the plot.
- Rana felt a little insensitive and uncaring at times, which made her harder to connect with, although I did end up warming to her.
- There wasn't any note at the beginning mentioning this book had a prequel, so few of the references and relationships didn't quite make sense to me since I hadn't read their story.

This is a standalone and - as always - extremely entertaining retelling. I love how Sarah always puts a summary of the fairytale in the beginning of her books for people who may not have read the original version, especially as she writes the summaries in her usual quirky and fun style. The story was adorable, but despite it being a standalone I ended up rereading A Wishful Hope first because Dan and Aida and Jasper feature quite heavily in this novel and I couldn't remember how everyone connected. It was the right decision, and I would recommend that step to other readers who have both books as having that context greatly increased my enjoyment of A Filling of Fables and Firelight. That said, I do think it's impossible NOT to enjoy anything written by the inimitable Sarah Beran!
I enjoyed getting to know Kamaran through Rana's eyes and the misunderstanding between them was extremely entertaining. Their story gave me joy from beginning to end (with a tinge of sadness cause the Sultan was actually a really nice guy and I missed him, but nowhere near as much as Kamaran and Aida would have.) It was heartening to watch Kamaran grow as a person and learn to be the leader he was always meant to be - a sultan with a heart for his people rather than a spoiled prince. I loved Rana's no-nonsense attitude and how she kept his curiosity alive by never ending the serial story she told him during his nightly visits. Watching them fall in love melted me and made me wish for a love story like that of my own. And at the end I cried SO hard! (Good tears, don't worry!)
The tiger was the best! I thought Spot was super cute and I laughed so hard watching the havoc he created sometimes! I'm so glad Sarah gave Jasper a tiger at last, it was freaking awesome!! (Also, now I want a pet tiger, so thank you Sarah for giving me unreachable dreams! lol) The only thing I didn't like about this book was that it ended, but I guess I could always reread it about a million and one times because there's no way I'd ever get bored of it! I doubt there'd be more stories about this crew as this one had the world's most perfect ending, but if Sarah ever decides to pen another one about these characters I will be first in line to gobble it up! - And talking of gobbling, it is my opinion that ALL recipes should be written Sarah style because reading a retelling of Turkish Delight is a good deal more interesting than just reading ingredients and instructions. Somebody should make it a law that all recipes should be written that way from now on - it would transform cooking! I'm not brave enough to try to make the Adhavian Delight myself (I'd probably burn my kitchen down) but I do plan to beg somebody to make some for me for my next birthday or maybe Christmas.

A Filling of Fables and Firelight is a sweet retelling of 1,001 Nights with an adorable romance, bridal competition, and mistaken identities!
I loved this book so, so much! This was exactly the retelling of 1,001 Nights I needed. I have a read a few retellings of this story, and this is by far my favorite! It focuses on the romance a lot more and twists the reason for having so many brides in such a nice way that doesn’t include murder.
I loved that this book had a bridal competition! It made the story a little cozier but had the drama and tension. There were also a number of attempts on Kamaran’s life, which added tension.
I loved Rana! She was a no-nonsense girl, who really cared about her work. She was such a lovely narrator, and I did really enjoy how much she cared about her job. She had motivators outside of romance or power, as well. Rana also had her sassy moments, which I just loved. She really didn’t care what others thought of her.
Kamaran was also amazing! In the beginning of the book, you get the idea that he is flaky and doesn’t care about his responsibilities. Throughout the course of the story, you come to understand that he is very good at understanding people, and has certain issues that make it hard for him to complete his work. I loved the dyslexia representation in this book! It was really well done, and I loved that the people close to him helped him and reassured him of his strenghts and intelligence. It was really well done! There was also some grief explored throughout Kamaran’s story, which was well done and powerful. It wasn’t the main focus of the book, but I liked the inclusion and how it was done.
The romance between Kamaren and Rana was so, so cute! I loved it! They had wonderful chemistry and they challenged each other nicely but also supported each other. Rana truly didn’t care that he was a Sultan, allowing for wonderful banter. They were also able to get to know each other on a deeper level without the pretenses. There was a little bit of mistaken identity, as Kamaran thought Rana was participating in the bridal competition, when she was just the seamstress. There were some fun moments because of this. There was also not a third-act break-up, which typically follows these revelations. I enjoyed this a lot. They were so protective and understanding of each other, which I loved!
The side characters were the best! Jasper was the younger brother character, and he was amazing! He brought a fun energy to the story, as well as some insights for both of the characters. Rana’s grandmother was a fun side character, who was a little bit of a meddler, which I loved! Zamar, which was Kamaran’s advisor, was a nice addition to the story and I enjoyed his fatherly relationship with Kamaran. Zade and Spot were the animal companions, and they were some of the best parts of the book!
The storytelling aspect was incorporated nicely into the story. There was one story that was told throughout the course of the book, and I enjoyed how Kamaran took part in the telling. The story also helped Kamaran realize some of his flaws, which was a nice touch.

This book was utterly and absolutely amazing!
By far, this was the book I was looking forward to the most out of this series. Not only did the synopsis sound just up my alley, but I was also super curious to read a 1,001 Nights retelling. And, of course, it’s Sarah Beran, and I have yet to read one of her books that I didn’t love. Well, let me tell y’all, I was not disappointed! I adored every second of this story. From Rana’s sassiness and Kamaran’s uncertainty about being worthy of the throne, to the stories Rana tells, to the classic Sarah Beran humor and puns that made me laugh out loud, I loved it all.
Guys... there is a tiger named Spot. That is awesome. Also, Zade totally reminded me of my dog. He is such a naughty rascal, but just like Zade, somehow we can never stay mad at him because he is so cute.
We also got to see a few characters from A Wishful Hope, which is one of the author’s books set in the same world. You don’t have to read that one first, but I strongly suggest reading it anyway. Not only because that book is awesome, though that is very true, but also because you’ll understand the little insider hints and references.
All in all, if you haven't put this book on your TBR yet, then you need to! Actually, you should really just go and start reading it right now, it's worth it!
Also, I really, really hope that we get Jasper's story sometime in the future!

This book was so much fun!
Rana is just there to be the seamstress for the competition. She had no interest in the sultan but what happens when he won’t leave her alone?
Kamaran suddenly is sultan after his father passed and is told you need a wife. He just lost his father and they want him married and stepping into the shoes he didn’t think he was ready for. I felt for Kamaran and everything he went through. The fact that he struggled to read was something I found to be sad because he’s sultan and expected to be perfect basically.
Rana and Kamaran were a fun pair. He didn’t know she wasn’t a part of the competition. It was fun watching him worry she would be eliminated when she wasn’t even a part of the competition to begin with. That did make it sad because in the end she wouldn’t be the winner. His reaction to finding out was hilarious.
I loved the story Rana told and how it developed just like the main story did. The story told the truth that they both needed without actually outright saying it.
I loved Jasper he was a joy and a breath of fresh air to the palace life. I also loved Spot and Zade and their antics. Those two caused a few issues but also saved Kamaran.
While this book is a standalone A Wishful Hope is also set in this world and takes place before this one staring Dan and Aida. I have not read it but I plan to because I’m interested in their story now.

I love Sarah Beran’s books and this one was no different! It was cute and I loved getting to see a different side to Kamaran after having seen him in A Wishful Hope. And Rana was the perfect person to break Kamaran out of his old attitudes/actions. I loved that she made it clear to him that she didn’t care about his status and later she came to fall for him for who he was instead of his royal status. I also loved Rana’s grandmother and her teasing! She and Jasper brought a lot of fun to the story along with Rana’s fennec fox & Jasper’s tiger! 😂
I’m not sure if it’s a possibility for a future book or not, but I’d love to see what kind of story Jasper could have! He’s been fun in this story and in A Wishful Hope!
Summary:

Another excellent retelling by Sarah Beran! The book was so funny, even though it wasn't really full of the puns Sarah Beran is famous for. There were so many humorous lines that had me bursting into laughter. The plot was also really great. It was completely different from what I expected a 1,001 Arabian Nights retelling to be, but it was AWESOME!
The two main characters, Rana and Kamaran, were incredible! They were so perfect for each other and I love their banter and how they each keep the other on their toes. I love how Rana, even though she hated Kamaran at first, realised that he was not at all what she had previously thought, and built him up rather than put him down.
I also loved getting to see Aida and Dan again, although I will admit that, since I read A Wishful Hope so long ago, I didn't recognise them at first. It was only at the end when Sarah Beran wrote that Aida and Dan had their own story in A Wishful Hope that I realised who they were 🤭.
The book was rather short, however. I would have definitely liked to see more of the competition and each of the stages, as well as got to know some of the competitors better. This was an absolutely beautiful story about becoming a better person, finding yourself, and falling in love along the way. The banter between Rana and Kamaran had me giggling, while the tale she was sharing with him throughout the bridal competition brought a deep connection to their budding friendship. Their very accidental meet cute was made better by the reality that Rana didn't want to be there, let alone near Kamaran, and it only drew him toward her more. The fact that Kamaran didn't realize Rana was the seamstress and not a contestant was charming to me because he kept expecting to see her everywhere, and sought her out when he didn't. I felt heartbroken over Kamaran's grief and the huge burdens and responsibilities that he had to carry, along with hiding a secret and always wearing a mask for the public. I enjoyed watching them open up to each other and how they brought the best out of themselves when they saw their actions in another light. I loved the side characters especially Jasper and Teta because they brought even more humor into the story. I was really surprised when an assassination plot was found out because I didn't even see it weaving into the plot. I also appreciated that the author put a summary of the original fairytale at the beginning. I highly recommend this cozy, slow-burn, no-spice retelling to any fantasy reader!

I would recommend reading A Wishful Hope first. There aren't too many significant spoilers, but the fact that this takes place after that book makes it give away some things about how A Wishful Hope ended

I gave this book 3.5 stars, because I’m not too big into the mystery genre and about halfway through the book it was discovered that one of the contestants was trying to kill the Sultan. So much so that they made 4 different attempts throughout the book at his life.
Otherwise, there were many aspects of the book that I did like such as how Kamaran had mistaken her as a contestant in the competition instead of being the tailor and how Rana and Kamaran come to love each other throughout the course of the story. It’s a sweet love story, but not in the “I’m a damsel in distress way.” As the first time Kamaran interacts with Rana she ends up insulting him many times and the two engage in playful jest. This isn’t quite a retelling of the fairy tale, though you might call it an adaptation. The main connection is the story being told over a number of days before finally being completed.
I appreciate stories where characters have their negative or judgmental assumptions proven wrong, because so many people are convinced they know everything about everyone else and so confident in ill-informed opinions of others. It’s so important to be careful how you evaluate the things you see because what you get is often not the full picture.
I was not expecting who would turn out to be the one trying to get the Sultan killed, because of how they were portrayed in relation to the other characters.

You will want to read A Wishful Hope before this book because many of the characters have backgrounds included in that book. It would be nice if standalone books in multi-author series could have a note before the story begins that significant information will be missing if you haven’t read a book from a different series.
This isn’t quite a retelling of the fairy tale, though you might call it an adaptation. The main connection is the story being told over a number of days before finally being completed.
I appreciate stories where characters have their negative or judgmental assumptions proven wrong, because so many people are convinced they know everything about everyone else and so confident in ill-informed opinions of others. It’s so important to be careful how you evaluate the things you see because what you get is often not the full picture.
I was not expecting who would turn out to be the one trying to get the Sultan killed, because of how they were portrayed in relation to the other characters.

Stories forge connection
I knew I'd like this book from the moment I read the blurb and saw the cover. I was not disappointed. A Filling of Fables and Firelight have incredible characters and a good plot that feels complete even with the shorter length of this book. I liked getting to see a marriage competition from the point of view of someone who wasn't competing for once. Rana and Kamaran are perfect together. Rana's independence and personality match Kamaran's, and the way they each make each other better seals the deal. I loved the addition of the fox and tiger pets. While I wouldn't want to own either in real life, they add so much fun. The minor characters like Jasper added the levity necessary to make the book lighthearted. Also, this book reminded me of how much I like Turkish delight, and now I need to go get some of my own.

This book was so sweet, so adorable, and so full of humour! Rana and Kamaran are so sweet together and I loved how they bonded through Rana's storytelling. This book is a wonderful retelling of 101 Arabian Nights and I absolutely loved how Sarah Beran wrote the story. The plot is wonderful and I loved how realistic the novel is and how many important themes and messages were included. In terms of plot, I found this novel perfect as there was just the right amount of relationship growth and emotions while also having some mild high-stakes that didn't make the book feel boring. The side characters were wonderful to see, especially Jasper, and I also loved the pets! The Adhavian Delights were so mouthwatering and this book was a perfect, cozy read! Rana is such a wonderful heroine: sharp, practical, and not afraid to speak her mind. Kamaran was also a wonderful MC as he had self-doubts from his dyslexia and Rana helped him overcome it, helping him to realise the his disability didn't mean he wasn't intelligent. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and I found it such a wonderful book to read!

I received this as an arc and I found it very exciting. The story takes place a few years after the events of A Wishful Hope and while we are reunited with a few familiar characters (e.g., Aida, Dan, and Jasper) it begins on a sad note. The kind Sultan has tragically died, making Prince Kamaran (this book’s MMC) now the ruler of El Huram (something he never wanted). Along with his grueling new responsibilities he has to select a wife from the kingdom’s traditional competition arranged by his advisers.
The FMC, Rana, is chosen as one of the seamstresses chosen to attend to the competitors. What she was not expecting is Kamaran mistaking her for one the actual princesses he is meant to court and constantly visiting her.
However, as the two spend time together she discovers there is more to Kamaran than who he pretends to be and ends up falling in with him and he her. However, he has to pick one of the computers, which may break her heart.

ARC Review: I fell so hard for this story!! Rana is truly my spirit animal!! She is feisty, strong, bold, confident, everything I strive to be! Kamaran is suave, handsome, flirty… and everything he thinks people expect to see out of him. When Kamaran loses his father and becomes Sultan much earlier than he expected, he not only is now the ruler of his people, but he needs to reassure his people that all is well by getting married to continue the lineage. And what better way than having a contest to become queen?? Follow along Rana’s journey of becoming the Queens Contest seamstress and the you likely friendship that blossoms between two strangers that were meant to be more. I love a good character growth story and this has it in spades!! And I love the always present when it matters Jasper & Spot!! He is such a fun lovable character that makes this story that much better! And add in Zade, the Fennec Fox? I was done for! If you love no spice, no cursing, sweet romance with banter and lots of character growth, this one is for you!!

This was a wonderful book! The setting reminded me of the live Aladdin movie. Because I was unfamiliar with Sarah Beran’s world, I didn’t know who some of the mentioned characters were. However, it did not stop me from quickly getting to know and love each and every character in the book. While I already enjoy the story of “One Thousand and One Nights”, I really enjoyed this retelling. Not only did I love the interaction and witty banter, but I loved the fact that the characters each had flaws that they admitted to and worked on changing. Sarah also mentioned an issue that one of the characters has that my daughter also has. So, it made me smile as I read the book because I thought of how my daughter and I are currently working on this problem. If you’re curious as to what the problem is, read the book. It is a wonderful, cozy read! I highly recommend it! And, I can’t wait to start reading her other books connected to this world as well.

The retelling of 1,001 nights fit really well, and it was definitely a nice, clean version with the bridal competition instead of execution. The storytelling inside of the main story was nicely incorporated too, I just wish there was more of it.
The banter between Kamaran and Rana was a lot of fun. I do wish there was more time to get to know each other the characters, especially the side characters. A lot of them felt very one dimensional. Jasper was really funny though! The fox and tiger's relationship were adorable too.
Overall, the story was short and sweet. I did feel like something was missing or maybe it should've been longer. I did see at the end of the book that this one is actually a companion to Wishful Hope which I have yet to read, so maybe that will have the context that I'm missing.

This was such a delightful read!
I loved Kamaran and Rana’s banter and their sweet relationship as they got to know each other. Rana’s compassion for Kamaran was exactly what he needed to grow and see the value he has.
I loved the friendships shown in this story as well! They have each others back while also being able to tease each other!
Rana’s storytelling to Kamaran was a nice nod to the 1001 nights tale and I loved how Kamaran was to hear the story each night!
This was such a sweet love story and I loved the depth as we get to see Kamaran and Rana fall for each other.
The mystery component added an extra layer that made this a completely bingeable book!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean fairytale love stories!

I can't believe I just devoured this book like Kamaran did with Rana's desserts.
The story flowed so well and love how it has several different morals. One don't judge someone before getting to know them and the other is to give yourself some grace
I understand what Kamaran is going through. Mine isn't as bad as his, but I understand how stupid one feels when they don't fully understand what they are reading. Rana was relatable too she was hiding behind her sarcasm afraid she would get hurt.
I💜LOVED the critters and their antics in this one,but my favorite is when Zade helped Kamaran. I don't want to spoil how, but wow it makes you love that cuddle seeking menace more lol. Also Spot with Zade reminded me of Rajah and Abu teaming up and getting themselves in trouble. The chemistry was slow burn, but you could feel it growing with each scene. Rana really needed to relax and Kamaran really needed to be seen like she saw him. I could go on and on

I loved this sweet 1001 nights retelling! If a 1001 nights met the Selection with a hints of Aladdin, it would be this fun story! I loved Rana & Kamaran! They had all of the wit & banter but also got to know each other through fireside conversations & the stories Rana spins that feel like slowly falling for your best friend! This was so beautifully done with a vibrant setting, depth, twists, & a slow burn romance that leaves you smiling & satisfied! I also really enjoyed Rana’s feisty grandmother, Jasper (who is like an impish little brother), & the pets (Zade (fox) & Spot (Tiger)! After reading this book, I now want to know more about Aida, Dan, & Jasper who were featured in an earlier book! This is my first book by Sarah & I absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to explore more of her stories!

I loved this story! Watching Rana and Kamaran grow in their respect and love for each other was a delight. I thought I knew Kamaran from a previous story, but, like Rana, I only saw the surface. Sometimes it is easy to see the lizard and forget that there is a prince behind scales. This prince just needed the right woman to see him.
It was so fun to get more of Jasper. The perfect mix of responsible, protective, and annoying younger brother. And his tiger.
Note: you do not need to have read “A Wishful Hope” before reading this story, but I found that I appreciated some of the characters more because I had known them before.

This was one of the books in this series that I was looking forward to the most and Sarah Beran did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Rana and Kamaran. The tiger and fennec fox were fun additions to the story as well.
Furthermore, I enjoyed the change in Rana and Kamaran attitudes toward each other as the story progressed, as well as, the acceptance of their personal faults and each others.
I would highly recommend this story for those who enjoy themes of He falls first, acceptance, trust, and loyalty.
There are scenes that dive into the theme of grief after a major loss which can be a trigger for some whom are experiencing it or have recently gone through similar grief.

This was such a cute and fun read.

Rana is a seamstress.
Kamaran is the new sultan. Crowned before his father's body cooled. And then immediately thrown into a wife-finding tourney.
With all the new people at the palace, a seamstress was needed to help the contestants. Enter Rana!
However, she's mistaken for a contestant by Kamaran!
This is a case of mistaken placement! In that, Rana was brought to the palace at the same time as all of the contestants; therefore, she "must" be vying for the sultan's hand.
Super fast and wonderful read! This was so great!!
Another animal fox familiar too!!

Love 1,001 Nights retellings
It's not done often enough, surely because it's difficult to weave together a storyteller within a story without driving your audience loony, but Sarah Beran managed it. Lovely. Although I do think it was VERY sad that Kasmaran was too scared to be honest with his father. And I thought it odd that her author's note didn't mention dyslexia, though as far as I know, that's what he had. I also want to give her credit for being the first author to not make a grand vizier evil. I've read at least three stories with them, and everyone of them has been evil. The Disney influence is strong and deep. But it's still stupid to label 3rd person perspectives. Although I'm happy we got both of them. I love getting to be in the guy's head, too.

I don’t know how the author crammed so much into this short story but it was amazing!
I love banter, a feisty, strong female lead and an adorable MMC, both with room to grow.
And this had it all and so much more!
This touched on grief, friendship, strong family ties and the kind of love everyone should seek…
Love that accepts you as you are but also challenges you to be better in every way!
Somehow this story also was a fast paced, incredible adventure with a tiger, fennec fox and assassins.
One of my favorite lines…
“I’m just saying—he deserves someone who allows him to be himself, and you deserve a man who’s not going to try to make you into something less than you are.”
Definitely a re-read and one I would pass on to YA readers as well!

Ok, I read this one really fast (because it was so good) and that was a few weeks ago, so details are going to be sparse. This was a fun take on the 1,001 Nights story. I really liked the mistaken identity. It wasn't like Rana tried to hide who she was; Kamaran was just that busy with things going on. He did eventually figure things out, though, which I appreciated. Then I enjoyed watching them figure out how they could make their relationship work within the court's rules. How could a sultan and a seamstress combine their lives? The humor sprinkled throughout the story was delightful. I always enjoy when a book makes me smile.
