Car bombs are exploding on the streets of Brentwood, and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets caught in the blast. Add to that a rash of poisonings that leaves several Walshes incapacitated, and the clan is more vulnerable than ever. And that’s before you take into consideration that Mercer Bates now rules the Sartori pack.
There’s also the small fact Carmichael is still out there, no doubt plotting his revenge. He might no longer be an alpha, but he’s still a threat, and Ana is his number one target. To eliminate the danger he poses to her new life, she’ll have to track him down. But she’s not the only predator on the hunt, and silver or not, her claws might not be the sharpest this time.
Hailey Edwards writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.
I love love love this series and I would have been grateful if these books were longer but Ms Edwards manages a lot of intrigue and some laugh out loud moments in a short amount of time.
Ana has dealt with a lot and the end isn't quite in sight yet. Her number one issue at the moment is putting a stop to Carmichael's claim on her and cutting off the threat of her being used against the Walshes. Well, that and the car bombs and the poisonings. I mean, all those are important. But until they figure out what to do about Carmichael, Ana needs to keep the bond between them intact so she can track him.
Which is risky and dangerous all all sorts of other things that are probably making Rian's hair stand on end. But he's wise enough to realize he needs to give Ana the space to make her own choices after she'd been punched down for so long. (Still, the guy is dealing with things, you know. THINGS.)
Meanwhile, there are those car bombs. And the poisonings. And Ana beginning to fledge into her dragon-ish nature. We have some closure on a few things and a few dangling threads that are leading us to the finale. THINGS ARE HAPPENING and I'm super excited about it!
I’ve been reading this author for a while, and I know that I’ll pretty much love whatever she writes, including this latest. We are back with Ana and all the other characters that I just love, and this latest has poisonings, bombs, and all kinds of drama that I can’t seem to live without. For some reason, I thought this was the last book, so I’m excited there’s still another book as this one just made me eager for more…as all books by this author does. Wonderful installment to the series, and I really can’t wait for more. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
For a book on the shorter side, there manages to be a lot packed into it. Ana finally learns what she is, which is good, very special in deed. I'm sure that will bring about lots of things once it's know more in the clan. There is finally resolution with her "father", part good, part bad, but at least there is a bit of a free feeling for her mind in how things ended. The town and their clan seem to be under a threat, so many getting hurt. Part of the threat is found out and maybe taken care of, the other part not so much, which isn't good. I did like how this one ended, loved how the mural seemed to give all the good feels to everyone who say it.
There’s reference to Rian having a breakdown when he thought something had happened to Ana. I don’t remember this and I wish I did.
Ana improves her status with the clan 1000% when her instincts keep Rian from being hurt or worse. The two of them haven’t fully bonded yet but Ana’s dragon is making herself known a bit more every day.
Het bestie Sloane and Rian’s cousin Liam have an ongoing oneupmanship rivalry which leads the reader to suspect there’s more to it than sheer love of competition. Time will tell and since there’s only one more book to follow, I hope to find out.
The protective wards are taken down (why?) and members start being poisoned and vehicles blown up. Ana is convinced Carmichael Sartori is behind this. She still has a tenuous connection to him and a unit is formed to find him. This does not work out as hoped and a new enemy makes himself known.
I have literally every book Ms. Edwards has written since I discovered her. Every book has kept my interest. However, the ones I like the most are the ones that shock that inadvertent laugh out of you. I am very happy to report that this particular book got more than a few of those out of me. Maybe not to the epicness of the friendship in the Necromancy series (my mind just went blank) but Sloan comes into a close second with that series. I can happily say ….buy buy buy buy this book.
I thought this was the last book in the series, as it was listed as book 4 of 4, but I guess there will be more forthcoming? Which, I like this series - this 4th book was definitely a turn back in the right direction after the disappointment of the 3rd installment - but I also don't want this series to be drug on till is gets stale either. Hopefully we will see the end of this story next time, and it will be on a positive note!
The saga continues and just when you think Ana has been through enough, has found her people and is good enough, here comes trouble. Strange things are happening and the Walsh Clan doesn’t know what to believe. Is Ana at risk, from Charmichael, an enemy or from within, after all she is hot commodity now. Can Rién and the Clan help her? Can she be everything they need. Can she help herself?
Looking forward to the next one. Relationships are evolving. Bombers are bombing - as an aside one would think with all their super senses they would know when a bomb went off in their charming little town…just sayin’…mysterious poisonings, a bit of fire here and there, all sorts of goings on.
Ana is finally learning more about her dragon. She believes it’s a fire dragon, but throughout this book, she finally is told what type of dragon hers really is. She is also earning more trust amongst the clan because of her actions with all the stupid car bombings. The author seems to pack a lot of action within these short books.
This series so far is amazing its a fast fluid read that still hits deep emotions. The characters are quirky think Gilmore girls meets Stephanie Plum. I personally can't wait to read the next book. While I do wait I'm going to start some of her other series and see if the writing style continues. Keep up the amazing work Hailey!!!
I’m loving this series, but it irritates me that so many authors are taking one story and chopping it into bitesized bits so they can release the next part of the story every six months. I’d much rather wait and read one book than a bunch of shorts.
This series keeps getting better and better. Ana if finding herself and what she is supposed to be and Rian supports her all the way. Love the characters and their journey .
This series has been so much fun! I love the characters - although Goldie has stolen my heart and will likely charge to return it. I am thoroughly enjoying every book and can't wait for the next release!
Every book is better than the last. There are some new discoveries revealed in this book and it was so worth the wait. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
I had not really clicked with this series until this book. But this was nice. The cast of characters are really fun. There is the ubiquitous (for this author) wacky, irrepressible bestie; the whole perfect mate thing; found family. All coming together very nicely.
Loved it! I really enjoyed getting to read the first 4 in a row, but now I sit down to wait for book 5. :::sigh::: These characters are just so fun, and Edwards is carrying the plot forward nicely, not dragging out certain plot points too long. I’m appreciating the humor and banter very much.
I loved this book, it might be my favorite from the series! Ana and Rian are so cute, I love the slow build between them. I can't wait to read the next book.
