A little bit of nostalgia. Includes all the pictures. Shame they are black and white. Could have done with this book in 1984 though.

I decided to go back in time and finish an adventure on the wonderful computer of my youth the ZX Spectrum. That this game was contained in 48k (significantly less than an email these days) is amazing.
Anyway, I open up Spectaculator (an emulator as my dear old Speccy needs a new membrane and I wanted to be able to save easily so I wouldn't have to keep going back!) and decided I would buy this book to support me!
Was it really necessary? Not at all! But the nostalgia of reading this whilst playing the game was satisfying.
It's pretty basic (lol) with poor black and white pictures, but it has a nice refresher of how to play and an outline of the key areas to give you a clue how you are getting on.
The final section with individual room descriptions is filler really.
I loved having it alongside me as I played anyway.

Have I finished the game yet? Nearly! Just need to get Bard to kill the damned dragon and then get home.

I will post my map when I finish it on CASA (The Classic Adventures Solution Archive).

I loved The Hobbit, but was thoroughly stuck whichever route I took, so I went to the Breaker's Yard, our local computer game shop (it had begun life as a CB shop), noted down the ISBN and author of this, and asked the local library to order it for me. I finally got to see the end of the game. I can't stand the idea of playing a game through from the beginning with a game guide in hand, but if you're well and truly stuck after playing it a while they can be revelatory.
