I thought the worst thing that could happen on Valentine’s Day was getting stood up.

I was wrong.

When my date ghosts me and I decide to confront him, I don’t expect the night to spiral. I don’t expect danger and I definitely don’t expect the quiet, intense man from down the hall to step in and change everything.

Damian Salvanti is calm under pressure.

Terrifyingly observant.
And far too willing to put himself between me and the world.

The more time I spend with him, the more unsettling the truth becomes.

He knows me.
My routines.
My fears.
The things I want but never say out loud.

Because Damian hasn’t just been watching out for me.

He’s been watching me…

Cupid Is a Liar is a dark, fast-paced Valentine’s romance featuring an obsessive, morally gray hero who falls first, a heroine who chooses danger over safety, and a love story that blurs the line between devotion and obsession.

I really liked this, it was quick and entertaining, with a little spice and obsession mixed with action and a incredibly sweet Valentine's date!!

Hannah got stood up on Valentine's Day and she's determined to confront the man. Damian, her quiet and mysterious neighbour, is determined to stop her.. She doesn't back down, so he accompanies her. He's been watching her and he's ready to burn the world to protect her, especially since danger is waiting..

I had so much fun, Hannah was determined and ready to call out her date for ditching her, I loved her drive.
Damian was a man obsessed, he really was ready for everything to protect her, and he was so sweet. We love a stalker that's obsessive, but respectful.
I loved them together, it was very fast-burn, as this is a short novella, but we did get some great moments and a lot of action, who doesn't love some gunshots and life-threatening situations that bring them closer together..

The last scene was adorable and spicy, I really enjoyed it!!
I do wish we got more scenes with just them, it would've made this even better..

I really like Lexi Davis and the way she writes, she's definitely an author I'll always read!!

Okay, I LOVED this! 🩷🖤🩷

This is a short little Valentine’s Day novella that can be read in one sitting, but it’s packed full of all the good stuff. I love my stalker romances with some humor, and this delivers. There’s action, obsession, and the sweetest (unhinged) MMC you’ll ever see!

Hannah is sick of everyone’s nonsense, and ready to tackle the world, even if it means trouble. Lucky for her, her quiet and mysterious neighbor is ready to keep her safe while she does. Damian is SO SWEET! I mean, yeah he stalks her but he also takes care of everyone and worships the ground she walks on, so… 🤷‍♀️

If you like Lights Out, you’ll love this bite-size read. 🤭

Huge thanks to NetGalley, Victory Editing, and the author for the arc! 🖤

I've actually never read a romance book that's like, this centered on Valentine's day and I loved this experience!!!

it was fast paced (but that was purposeful! y'all it's 54 pages you gotta get to the point BEFORE the end of the book 😭)

Everytime I enjoy a standalone novella I always want more!! and I really enjoyed this one!! I loved the two main characters 𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙖𝙣 + 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖𝙝, I think they had amazing chemistry and despite the book only being 54 pages I was rooting for them the entire way!

I actually also got the ARC for Davis's Christmas novella and LOVED it! so happy I can say the same for this sweet Valentine's novella!

I loved this stalker valentine novella! Perfect read for the holiday. Quick overview, Damien is the mysterious techy hacker guy slash bad boy golden retriever that lives across the hall from Hannah. He secretly keeps tabs on his neighbors especially Hannah. Obsessed is an understatement, he knows her routine and everything about her. If you love stalker romance reads, you need this! 🖤

Cupid Is A Liar was the first novella I’ve ever read, and I had way more fun with it than I expected. I finished it in just a couple of hours, which made it the perfect quick read to put me straight into a Valentine’s Day mood. Short, addictive, and exactly what it promised to be.

Apparently my reader kryptonite is mysterious hacker men who stalk the woman they love, are unhingedly devoted, and would burn the world down for her. Noted. 😮‍💨 Damien was everything. Absolute swoon material. I loved both main characters and honestly could have devoured a full-length novel about their love story without hesitation.

This was my first book by Lexi Davis, and it definitely won’t be my last. It immediately bumped her other books higher on my TBR. Pretty Vicious has been glaring at me from my list for a while now, and after this, it’s getting read very soon.

If you’re in the mood for a quick Valentine’s Day read with a little spice, a lot of obsession, and a MMC who knows exactly what he wants, this is a great pick.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

: ̗̀➛ Post-reading:
I’ve never thought of myself as a dark romance reader (not for a lack of interest, I just haven’t ventured into that genre yet), but I was really hoping this could be a fun lil introductory read for me 🤭.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ I found the holding-my-hand-while-we-read-the-trigger-warning-together to be SO CUTEEE!

This is my first Lexi Davis story, and I acknowledge that you can only do so much within a novella. While the pacing was well done and the writing solid, I didn’t quite connect with the characters, which was disappointing, as I genuinely wanted to like Damien and Hannah.

While the story was very quick-paced and filled with action, it just lacked something I personally felt I’d been expecting and hoping to connect with. I’m not sure if I would have liked there to be more spice, for the book to be darker or if I just don’t like stalker-romance stories… so I’m thinking this is more on me rather than the story itself.

I’ll still definitely be checking out Davis’ other work at a later day, but all in all I’d still recommend this story for a nice lil Valentine’s Day read. It’s also a great pick for readers wanting to dip their toes into the dark-romance genre.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Lexi Davis & Victory Editing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. ⋆˙⟡

I absolutely devoured this novella.

Cupid Is a Liar is the perfect reminder that a short book can still deliver a completely addictive, emotionally satisfying reading experience. Lexi Davis packed so much tension, chemistry, and obsession into these pages that I genuinely didn’t want it to end.

And Damian… wow. Dark romance readers are going to fall hard for him. He is protective, morally gray, quietly intense, and just unhinged enough to keep you on edge in the best possible way. There is something irresistible about a hero who falls first and loves with unwavering focus, and every moment he was on the page felt electric.

What I loved most was how the romance balances that delicious line between devotion and obsession. It’s swoony while still carrying a darker edge, which made the emotional tension impossible to look away from. The pacing is fast, the connection feels real, and the suspense threaded throughout kept me flying through the story.

Some novellas leave you wishing there had been more because the story feels incomplete but this one left me wanting more simply because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters yet.

If you enjoy dark romance with obsessive energy, Valentine’s atmosphere, and a hero who would do absolutely anything for the woman he loves, I highly recommend picking this one up. It’s a one-sitting read that delivers far more punch than its length suggests.

Thank you to Lexi Davis for the early reading opportunity!

First of all, Lexi Davis, I absolutely love being part of your team! Not only are all the members amazing, but you are by far the most enthusiastic of all, and I truly love that!

When this novella was introduced to the team, and written in what felt like record time, I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, because I’m not usually a big fan of novellas… they always feel too short.

But this one, even though I wanted more of those two, because they are truly amazing, is so well written and so well developed that it lacks absolutely nothing. Nothing at all!

Short story: he’s a hacker and a stalker with some social anxiety, so he lives shut away in his house. He believes that being behind a computer, watching the world, watching Hannah, is fine and enough… but all it takes is a little time spent with her for his quiet life behind a screen to no longer be enough.

I only wished for a little bit more, because they are so incredible together, so sweet, that I just wanted more!

Run and read it, enjoy this novella that you can devour in one sitting, that gives off dark vibes but with a Valentine’s Day kind of spirit.🩷

ARC REVIEW

“There’s something calming about Damian. It’s partly his size, the knowledge that he could handle anything or anyone that threatens me, but it’s more than that. It’s his composure. The way his eyes scan the street, alert without being frantic. The way he keeps close without crowding me, his presence a quiet shield”

Lexi Davis does it again! 🔥
Cupid Is a Liar is a spicy, addictive stalker romance packed with humour and action. Fans of Lights Out by Navessa Allen, consider this your sign.

The FMC is a feisty, no-nonsense queen living her best independent life with her cat, Mr Wiggles, while the MMC is a reclusive, morally grey hacker who thrives behind a screen. Their dynamic? Deliciously unhinged in the best way.

This is a slow-burn novella but it was so fast paced, it didn’t feel like that until towards the end.

Thank you Lexi Davis and NetGalley for accepting me to ARC read this book!

This was such a good read! I loved the FMC and her ‘I’m not letting him get away with this’ attitude. Damian is the perfect person for Hannah, despite having stalked her for the last 2 years.
The plot was brilliant, especially for such a short story. Marco’s involvement was just right, not too long and not too short. I didn’t want the story to be overpowered by him standing up Hannah. Although that was the storyline, it is what led Hannah and Damian to finally meet in person.

Hannah is literally living every booktok girls dream!

Back with another ARC from my good friend and talented author @
This is a stalkerish novella with a fast pace. Again it's a novella so it's perfect for a quick read but dont expect it to dive deeply into everything. Just hold on and enjoy the ride 😘 I always feel so honored to be part of the early steps of her writing her stories.

Damian
Quiet and closed off man who is good at hacking and observing. He owns the apartment complex and takes really good care of the people living there. He may or may not keep a little too close of an eye on his tenants but its always with care. Hes protective and listens when told no or stop. He is a consent king and I love him for that.

Hannah
She is a super sweet but closed off person. She hasn't dated in years and took the time to love herself. She learned to only do things she wants and to stand up for herself. However she finds herself in a life threatening situation because she didn't listen to her hot mysterious neighbor who came out of nowhere.

I loved how Hannah wouldn't take anyones sh and kept giving everyone a piece of her mind. She was spunky and caring throughout the whole story even when her life was in danger she still was kind to those around her even when they didnt deserve it.

This short story was absolutely perfect and cute. It easily could become a full novel but at the same time it doesn't need to. Lexi plans it all out so well that you honestly forget it's a novella because it never feels rushed and has such a great flow!

The roof scene was 🥵🥵

If you are looking for a shy catnapper hacker who will do anything to keep you safe and respected then this is the novella for you! Plus it can help with your books read this year 😉

Cupid Is A Liar is a fast-paced dark romance novella that wastes no time pulling you into obsession, danger, and twisted devotion. This story follows Hannah and Damian, where protection crosses lines, watching turns into wanting, and love is anything but safe.
Damian is not the kind of hero you justify. He is intense, controlling, and deeply obsessed. He watches Hannah, tracks her life, and inserts himself where he does not belong. And yet, every single action comes from one place. Keeping her alive.
Hannah starts off unaware, slightly annoyed, and confused by Damian’s presence. But as the story unfolds and danger explodes around her, she begins to see the truth. Damian is dangerous, yes. But he is also the only one willing to burn everything down to keep her breathing.
The Valentine’s Day chaos, the restaurant scene, the gunfire, and the emotional shift between fear and trust were written perfectly for a novella format. The tension is sharp. The spice is bold. The consent is clear. The obsession is mutual by the end.
This is not a healthy love story. It is a chosen one.
Dark. Intense. Self-aware.
Damian stole the show for me. His calm violence, panic beneath control, and unwavering focus on Hannah made him unforgettable. The rooftop Valentine’s setup was unhinged in the best way and sealed the tone of the book completely.
If you love dark romance where the MMC is morally grey, protective to a dangerous level, and fully obsessed, this book is for you.
Thank you so much author for the free ARC!

Before I get into the actual review of Cupid Is A Liar, I wanted to start by saying that this novella has the BEST Trigger Warnings section that I've ever seen. Not only are the content warnings specific and descriptive, they occur at the start of the book (it sounds obvious but the number of books that I've read where the TWs are only at the back of the book or buried in the author's website somewhere is astounding). The TW section also explains the intentional pace and depth of the book, and what it is and what it isn't because of that novella length. I found it extremely informative and I went into it knowing exactly what I was about to read. It's perfect for mood readers as they can use this section to work out if they're in the mood for a pacy novella with spice or not.

It is a short novella but it's fast paced and fun. I really enjoyed it, and it did everything that the author mentioned she wanted it to do! It's a great dark romcom novella for Valentine's Day - not too dark, still funny and a quick, pacy read!

In the words from Lexi Davis: Strap in and Hold On.

Obsession wrapped up in a sweet Valentine’s date. This novella felt like a high-octane action movie. The story moves fast, with a lot packed into a short amount of time, but it works exactly the way it’s meant to. Nothing feels rushed or missing. Despite the quick pace, I was surprised by how much depth we get with the characters.

I loved Hannah’s breaking point when she snaps and decides to confront her ex-date for standing her up on Valentine’s Day. Damian, her neighbor, landlord, and secret stalker, sees what’s unfolding and jumps in to protect her, sending everything into overdrive.

With high stakes and nonstop adrenaline, Hannah and Damian are pushed together fast. When Damian finally comes clean about watching her, Hannah has to decide what she really wants… spoiler: it’s Damian.

I really enjoy Lexi Davis’s writing style, and her seasonal novellas have become such fun, easy reads for me.
Cute, funny, action-packed, and spicy - perfect for getting into the Valentine’s Day mood. 💕🔥

Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this novella, it was such a fun and swoon worthy read, filled with a mix of humour, suspense and a little spice at the end.

Damian was such a green flag despite being an obsessed hacker and stalker, his devotion to Hannah made me melt, and I've always loved romance stories with men who really see their women (both metaphorically and stalkery). Hannah was so relatable honestly, and I adored Mr Wiggles the cat.

Whilst the plot wasn't anything too deep, which I knew of and didn't mind, it still had all the chaos and banter I enjoy reading, Damian and Hannah had such amazing chemistry right from the get go, and the meaningful moments were so cute too.

Overall, despite this being only around 100 pages long, I really did love this book, I love me a hacker romance, and this novella hit all the marks, I yearned for it to be longer because it was just that good!!

Okaaaaaaay. Lexi Davis has been on my radar for a little while now, ever since I stumbled across her spoopy season novella. I still have yet to get around to that honestly, but I’m absolutely thrilled I was selected to arc read this one! And booooooy am I glad I was. This novella makes me want to read everything else she has written.

This was short, sweet and a little unhinged. The story didn’t linger too long and the MC’s???? Chef’s kiss. Would not change a single thing. Hannah is feisty and over getting burned. Damian is quiet and just the right amount of unhinged. A stalker you probably wouldn’t mind. Sure, he knows everything about you. He knows everything you want, but we could probably look past that, right?

This is a love story that blurs the line between obsession and devotion.

After being stood up on Valentine’s Day, Hannah confronts the man who betrayed her—only to uncover secrets that send everything spiralling out of control.

What she doesn’t know is that her neighbour and landlord, Damian, has been watching her for two years with hidden cameras. . Loving her from the shadows—and is ready to step in at the first sign of trouble

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a short read at just 66 pages and makes for a quick, fun stalker romance. Damian is actually really lovely—yes, he’s a stalker, but hey, no one’s perfect 😂. I flew through this and had a great time reading it. The only reason it missed a star for me is that I would’ve loved a little more spice… but that’s just me! 😆🔥

Talk about an action packed quick read!
How do I review this without spoilers?!! Hannah is the subject of Damien’s obsession and when he has a chance to jump into her life he takes it, even when there’s chaos happening at the restaurant when she goes to confront someone, he haves her more than once.
And when she learns just how much he knows and how he knows all he asks is 1 chance to show her something and thankfully she takes it!

It’s such a quick read and such a fun valentines novella that’s a great read if you want something fun to read!

My unhinged ass really loves a good stalker romance so for me this was the perfect novella leading up to Valentine's Day.

This was cute, fast paced, funny and a little steamy... the smut was only a tiny portion of the story but what we got was enjoyable.

To be completely honest, I would love to see these characters again someday in a full length story.
I absolutely adored Hannah and Damien (Mr. Wiggles too, can't forget the traitorous fur baby). But is it weird to say I would also totally read a story about Marco and the fiery red head? Idk I just feel like with his Mafia ties... there could be a story there too.

Synopsis: A dark, fast-paced Valentine’s romance featuring an obsessive, morally gray hero who falls first, a heroine who chooses danger over safety, and a love story that blurs the line between devotion and obsession.

Tropes:
🖤Taboo Romance
💘Open Door Spice
🖤Novella
💘Stalker/Obsessive MMC
🖤Fiesty FMC
💘Forced Proximity
🖤Run In With The Mob

Thoughts: This was such a great story, full of SO much going on and all crammed into 80 something pages. There are some fun taboo elements, but with a relatively relatable MMC who struggles with mental health issues. I was hooked from the start until the finish and the ending was chef’s kiss.

If you are looking for a slightly dark romance with stalker vibes, morally gray MMC, humor, and some spice this is the book for you. 4/5 only because it was short and I wanted more, which the author is very upfront about.

ARC Review

this was a really fun read!! it's fast paced and has whitty moments so if that's something you look for in novellas then this might be your pick!! the fmc is headstrong and does not take nonsense from ANYONE whereas the mmc is soft hearted, albeit slightly immoral (stalker tendencies) but respectful of boundaries and consent ALWAYS!!!! a sweet little read if you're looking for a palate cleanser between full novels.

Another fun novella from Lexi Davis. Damian and Hannah were great, I loved his slightly dark side. Being a hacker and just a bit of a stalker. Hannah was finally starting to get ten courage to get out there again when she is stood up, so she decided to confront her date at the restaurant. Damian comes with her on this wild ride. What will happen when Hannah finds out the truth?

The vibes of this novella are so good! I loved that it had a punchy story and a lot of chemistry between the two mains. You could really feel the tension and the story moved quickly but gave enough character depth to understand and connect to them. It does need a touch more editing and I was a little confused on a sentence or two. But for vibes it was a definite 5 star. I really loved it for a novella. Would recommend!!
