Did the audiobook and knocked this out on release today. Absolute blast and everything you would expect. I’ve had a parasocial friendship with these guys for as long as I’ve known my wife. It’s a weird feeling, to feel so close to people who you’ve never interacted with other than listening to their podcast for 6 hours a week but I love it. 10x award winning listener and counting
Forgot it was out and bought it at the airport. Finished it by the time I got home. Fantastic telling of Pardon My Take’s story. Was laughing out loud on my flights. Got a little emotional towards the end. If you like the crew, you’ll love it.
Entertaining read and a fun trip down memory lane as a Pardon My Take listener. I was genuinely crying laughing reliving the Buddha Ben tornado segment.
For me, the guest chapters were a little hit or miss. I definitely enjoyed some more than others, and overall there were probably a few too many. The book was at its best when it was the true core Pardon My Take/Barstool guys telling old stories, giving behind-the-scenes context, and reminiscing about ridiculous moments from over the years.
PMT has a special place in my heart. From 2016-2018 I listened to every episode while walking my dog who’s no longer with me. All the bits they recalled in the book bring me back to the old neighborhood and enjoying that routine we had.
From a book perspective I have to believe all the typos and errors were on purpose because it was funny. The guest sections were great, especially the Coach O’s pep talk!
Big Cat and PFT’s chemistry work much better on a Pod than in a book but still worth the read if you’re a fan.
Been listening to the show for almost 10 years now, 6 hours a week, every single week and haven''t missed an episode. So i already knew i was going to love this book. After spending damn near a decade listening to Big Cat and PFT talk about their lives, opinions, and experiences this book further strengthened my parasocial relationship with them. It feels really lame to say that, but that is one of the things that is most unique about the show. This book was a beautiful trip down memory lane not only of the show, but my own life.
I love Pardon My Take and will never stop listening
Look, I know people are only picking this book up looking for entertainment. And it gets that job done as expected. But still, there was weirdly enough editing mistakes (and not in the usual haha illiterate Barstool type of way) that I have to take half a point off. 4.5/5
I see Jerry was credited but I didn’t hear him at all.
I did think it was so cool that they actually got to get JJ Watt, Richie Incognito, Joe Buck, Coach O, Charles Barkley, Florio, SVP, Russillo, and Blake Griffin to read their own entries though!
The book is perfection. The fact that spelling errors and typos are throughout the book and not just in Zac’s chapters is gold. This is a book for not book guys, and it delivers
