Ines travels to Timbur to investigate a dangerous secret and ends up under the protection of Trunk, a huge Xylan miner who can’t stand her—or journalists in general. Their mutual irritation is complicated by growing attraction, but they’re supposedly not biologically compatible. When someone tries to kill her and a med lab unexpectedly heals her, everything changes. Trunk recognises her as his mate, leaving Ines realising she didn’t just come for a story… she’s become part of it.

I really enjoyed this instalment, especially the way the connection between Ines and Trunk deepened only after her medical treatment changed everything. Their bond shifts from reluctant allies to something intense and undeniable, and it made the second half of the story more enjoyable. I loved Ines’s determination to uncover the truth, even when the investigation turned dangerous. Her stubborn drive, paired with Trunk’s fierce protectiveness, created a great balance between tension and tenderness. With plenty of danger, drama, and high‑stakes moments, this was an exciting, emotional read that kept me hooked from start to finish. This was an MF story with mature content.

Wasn't expecting the book, but it's always a pleasure to see a book in the Fever Brothers come out. This one is on Texon, aka Trunk. As one of the younger brothers left unmated, he's volunteered to chaperone Ines, a reporter who has come to write an article about the Fever Brothers and their human mates. But Ines also wants to solve the mystery surrounding their parents' death, which is a sore spot, especially for the younger brothers. The family has also been burned by reporters in the past who just want a story, even if it's not the truth. Their attraction to one another is obvious from my point of view, although there is confusion on Texon side as scent-wise, she doesn't smell like his mate. Of course, someone is still messing around with the Fever Brothers, and they aren't happy that Ines is poking around in business that's best left alone. Will they ever get closer to solving the mystery of their parents' death, or will another tragedy befall the Fever Brothers?

Another great addition to the series. And the mystery is getting closer to being solved!!! Can't wait.

Another Fever Brother gets his Human Bride 😀😍

Texon and Ines's story was really different. She is attracted to him right away, but he just wants her to do her story and leave. Then she learns about the gift that the Fever brothers all have, and that he already scented her. She asks him straight out, if he scented her. His answer makes her cold inside. No, you're not compatible. So she decides that she'll do the best that she can, do her story, and go back to her lonely apartment . She does all that she promised, but a break in into her room, makes things dangerous, and the clues have added up to make an enemy determined to stop her. Injuries being treated after an attack, has her injuries healed, along with all of the old injuries and damage done from years ago. Suddenly she's different. She smells different. Like Texon's Bride. Things are coming out, and they are getting closer to the truth behind all of their family's tragedies. A surprise at the very end, sets us up for the next book. Trish. A.

Thick as Thieves is the sixth book in the fantastic the Fever Brothers series by Michele Mills and this was such a FUN addition to the series!

Ines and Trunk are such a fabulous pairing! He's surly and grumpy and protective and suspicious and attracted though he can't quite understand why or how. She's driven and caring and intuitive and attracted and wants to do what's right and what's the best, whether that's acceptable or not.

We got another piece of the puzzle with this story, and the anticipation as my imagination whirls, trying to figure out what's happening and where it's going is nail biting! Rook and Scar's stories are going to be so good!

This story has great chemistry, shares the bounty of family and connection, is about friendship, loyalty, love, and finding where you belong. There's some light angst, some drama, and the twists and turns keep you hooked!

I loved these two finding their place, and I'm excited for what comes next!

Beyond excited to come back to Timbur - and it doesn’t disappoint as the steam and mystery are over the top in this wonderful and thrilling story!! Arriving to investigate the death of the Fever Brothers’ parents while doing an exposé on their Brides, Ines isn’t afraid to step into the danger. Not even when it threatens her life but then gives her a future beyond her dreams ❤️. Truck (Texton) is all gruff alpha with a heart of gold and while I am enthralled by the continuing mystery storyline, it’s the characters and world building that I have stolen my heart in this series. Can’t wait for Rook and Hallie’s story - can tell already that Chronus is going to be soooo good 😊.

This page-turner features romance, heat, action, danger, mystery and humour. Texon, AKA Trunk, is part of the Fever family, an amazing and close-knit group that anyone who values love and support would want to be a member of. Ines is a journalist visiting Timbur, ostensibly writing a story about the humans who mated with the Xylans, but also to investigate the murder of the brothers' parents. As Trunk keeps an eye on her, suspicion turns to attraction on both sides, although their compatibility is in question initially. Trunk is the perfect male to keep Ines safe when danger lurks. The world building is great and I love the characters in this fun series. I'm looking forward to the next two books, to get a resolution to the intriguing overarching plot.

Thick as Thieves is the sixth Fever Brothers story that follows MMC Trunk/Texon a Xylan miner on the planet Timbur.
He has been assigned the task of protecting journalist Ines who is on the mining planet to write a story about Human women finding happiness with their chosen Xylan miner.
But this little journalist is hiding secrets about all of her reasons for being on Timbur.
Loved the story which was laced with humor, intrigue, danger, family dynamics, surprises, passion, and fated mates whether they like it or not!
Great writing, wonderful characters, in an entertaining story that was another captivating Fever brothers read.

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I absolutely adore this series! The Fever Brothers are some of my all-time favorite aliens, and I’m so excited to dive into another book in this collection.

The main characters always bring a smile to my face. I really enjoyed their interactions, even though he was a bit of a grump towards her. I was pleasantly surprised by the twist that initially hinted they might not be meant to be, but in the end, they truly are. It brought me so much joy when the truth was finally uncovered. I especially loved the mystery aspect; the author does a wonderful job revealing the truth little by little, just like peeling an onion. I can hardly wait for the next book in this fantastic series!.

The Story Behind the Story

Ines is on Timbur tp.right a story about the Fever Brothers and their human mates at least that is what she told everyone to get approval for her visit but she is also there to investigate the terrible happening that have befell the Fever Brothers family. When Trunk is assigned as her guard and guide he immediately scents her and knows they at not mates but still he feels.mating instincts just not the scent. As Ines gets closer to the truth she also gets closer to Trunk even knowing they are not mates until she is injured and healed and her infertility cured with the healing, changing everything for these two and verifying their mating for Trunk but first they have to deal with the trouble after Ines in this intriguing read.

I absolutely love the Fever Brothers! Ines is a journalist who has come to Timbur to do a story on the human Brides but she also has a secret, she is also doing an investigative story on the Fever Brothers parents murders. Trunk does not trust journalists since the family has been burned by them before. What follows is an exciting, action filled story where Ines gets her story and Trunk gets his Bride. I love the chase and the claiming! I can't wait to find out who has been going after the Fever family and why. Such great characters and storyline. Michele Mills is 1-click simply because she writes stories that don't let go. I absolutely love her straight syfy romances.

Something that should not work does. but why?

Thick as Thieves is the sixth book in The Fever Brothers Book by Michele Mills. If you love some sexy alien/human romance then this series will have you swooning for the men of Xylan as they get conquered by the women they should never want. There is an overarching story-line in this series but each book can be read as a standalone, which for me has worked. This story is about Ines and Texon, aka Trunk. She is there to investigate things that have been happening and he is to guard her. They should never match but somehow they do and that is when the real fun begins.

This book has continued the back story of the murder of these brother's parents, and it just got better and better. Loved how Trunk finally got his story, and Ines is a journalist someone who is in a profession that Trunk really dislikes. The genuine family feel that I got from this book from the other brothers and their spouses made for lots of laughs and enjoyment. Like all the others in the series once you start this story you get hooked and have to finish. I cannot wait to read the next one in the series.

I loved Ines and Trunk! These two have a very rough start as they “don’t like each other” but the tension is thick between them. Trunk and Ines were sweet and steamy together and add in some drama mystery, and an HEA that will leave you wanting more of them, this book is a must read for all Syfy-romance readers! I loved that we got to know more about the deaths of the Fever parents and I can’t wait for the next 2 books to find out more.

This is another fun and engaging addition to the series and we finally get Trunk's story :) He really dislikes journalists and isn't too impressed with Ines being one... She's on planet to do interviews with the human brides but she also wants to investigate more on Trunk's parents' murder. These two had great chemistry, and I love, as they worked together, that they found a way to be together. Expect to get caught up in this action packed read that has humour, chaos, intrigue and hot romance as they journey to a fab HEA. I loved it and can't wait for the next book. Good fun!

Thick as Thieves Book 6 of The Fever Brothers by Michele Mills is the first book in this series I've read, and while it would be better if I would've read the series in order I found I wasn't really lost but I will go back to the beginning. The characters are well thought out and relatable, the worldbuilding fantastic and the storyline complex, action-packed with great chemistry between fated mates. Recommended.

This is the next in the Fever Brothers series, it should be read in order due to the order of events. One set events does not mean an issue but as Ines lays it all out, it is more than just a coincidence. Trunk feels something for the human reporter, Ines but she does not smell like his mate. He does not trust reporters after the family's last interaction with one but she seems to be doing her job well. Cannot wait for Rock's story.

Another Fever Brother read and it is so good!!! Ines is a free lance journalist who wants to do a story on the Fever Brothers human brides while also investigating the death of their parents. She and the family get more than what they expected. Great read, lots of interactions with couples from the previous books!.

Fever brothers do it again!!

Ines and Texon (Trunk) story is the start of the end. Understanding the progression from the Fever brothers parents death, Daxon's banishment, Heavy's memory loss. It's coming down to the wire.
Hopefully, the stories about Rook and Scar will complete this wonderful series about their parents deaths and we find out what happens to them all.
Michelle Mills is a great writer for all of the miners on Timbur.

When Ines arrives on Timbur to write a story the last thing she expects is Trunk. He's grumpy and does not trust journalists. Ines is not he just to write a fluff peace. She is there to find out what really happened to the fever brothers parents.
I enjoyed this story and the chemistry between them. I look forward to more in this series.

One Moment Changes Everything
Iona comes to Timbur to tell the Fever Brothers story. Trunk is assigned to manage her. From initial distrust, these two find alignment, but don’t match for compatibility… or do they? I loved the build up of this story - there’s the ticking timeline to Iona leaving, the action stirred up by her investigation, and the tension between Trunk and Iona. One exciting, fast-paced read!

This book is fun, sexy and is choc full of tension, but the good kind!
It’s nice to finally make grumpy Trunk smile. Plus another positive with Ines is that she is willing to fight for what she believes in. I love their chemistry, the arguments and how they catch the bad guys. Plus it doesn’t hurt that the scene is is oh so hot hot hot!
This is a story with loads of confusion and longing looks, and with great characters in Trunk and Ines.

The mystery deepens as Ines is on Timbur to write a piece about the human brides, but really wants to understand the mystery of the Fever brother’s parents death. Liked the attraction as Trunk does nothing about it, but once Ines has been healed from her ordeal things automatically change. Waiting for the last two brothers to get their own books and hopefully solve this mystery.

Trunk and Ines

Ines is an investigative reporter, supposedly doing a piece on the human wives of the Fever brothers. However Trunk is suspicious and not welcoming and neither is someone anxious to be rid of the reporter. Romance blooms in the middle of chaos. Very entertaining series.

I must be honest. I skip over the spice where possible, and some might ask, why read the books if you don't like spice? Because the characters are so compelling! And I love this universe that Michele has created; it's so fascinating. I can't wait to read Rook's story and Scar's story.

To write a fluff story on a family is why they think she’s come to visit, but really she is looking into a case that everyone says is solved. Trunk as he is known by is against both stories since they both involve his family. Slow burn, close proximity, fated mates, found family, close family (multiple family members living together) mystery. There is a little something for almost everyone.

There were a few more answers. Was getting inpatient with pace. Not crazy about unrealistic typecasting of women that are okay with always being pregnant and watching babies. Yes it is okay with some but many would not have mental, physical ability to keep healthy and treat the children and marriage well.

I absolutely love this series and I have only read two of the books. This is such an amazing story. The heat, suspense and the chemistry is off the charts. Who needs an instruction manual when all the signs are there?

Always enjoy the Fever brother’s stories. Would have liked to know a little more about Trunk though. Found this one to be a little more one sided than the others. Was very happy to see progress finally made on who is so out to get this great family. Can’t wait for the other two brothers stories especially Scar!!! Have a feeling his might be the best.
