Neighbor Liar Killer

Rate this book
I heard my sister being murdered over the phone.

It was staged to look like a robbery gone wrong, but in her last moments, she was betrayed by someone she knew. Someone who had access to her home. Now her three girls are going to grow up without a mom, and I’ve lost the only person who’s ever been there for me.

And I’m going to find her killer.

Someone in my sister’s exclusive neighborhood killed her. The police are following their leads and I’m following mine. Unlike the detectives on her case, I don’t have to follow the rules. And the closer I get to discovering who the killer is, the more the danger grows, for me and everyone around me. If I don’t figure out who to trust, and fast, I’ll end up just like my sister.

I did not see this one coming. I started this book expecting the light Romantic Suspense I’ve come to know from Katie Reus, but it took a completely different turn and kept that new direction from start to finish. Sloane Gala comes with a trailer load of baggage, and determination might as well be her middle name. She’s fierce, resourceful, and a protector who doesn’t always feel the need to play by the rules. Her love for her family and her laser focus on finding her sister’s killer make her a formidable character. Though Sloane is basically a loner, she learns to lean on others, and they’re all there for her as she hunts down the culprit. I enjoyed all the secondary characters, especially the hint of a possible romance between Sloane and Detective Garcia. I definitely smell the start of a new series and look forward to more Sloane Gala books.

My thanks to the Publisher, and Author, for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

This one started out slow for me, despite a murder happening almost at the start. I felt for Sloan and what she was going through. Thought it interesting that she had the skills to find what happened to her sister and the team that she worked with. There was so much craziness going on in the neighbor hood, so many people that could have been the killer. When the killer was revealed and why, it made sense. Glad to see that they will be getting theirs and the rest of them can now go on with their lives.

Oh my gosh! This opening was absolutely chilling! I couldn’t help but put myself in Sloane’s shoes as she listened to the horror of what was happening to her sister. From that opening I immediately knew this was not my typical Katie Reus book. This was deeper, darker, and filled with a tension that steadily grew with each turn of the page.

I loved the way this author laid out the story. The rising suspicion towards everyone, with shifting clues and the feeling that no one could be trusted made this one heck of a gripping, edge of my seat read. With each turn I was second guessing who, what, and why.

I loved Sloane. She was flawed, grief stricken yet determined to find the truth. Her push forward even in the face of danger gave this story an emotional element that went beyond the mystery. This was a straight up suspense/thriller with just a touch of romance, not what I usually get from this author, but holy heck did it work! Everything is tightly focused on the investigation, the secrets, and the unraveling truth. I made this one fast, addictive read that I couldn’t put down.

Neighbor Liar Killer is an extremely different book written by Katie Reus then what she usually writes. This is a gripping thriller where the narrator decides to catch the murderer of her sister. It is raw with grief, total determination and a “no-holds-bar” attitude. The beginning is bright and good spirits but soon runs dark and edgy. What a compelling mystery to be solved with only a small dose of romance near the end. Kudos to the author for this unforgettable page-turner.

*Cette chronique est basée sur un NetGalley ARC en échange d'un avis neutre et honnête*

📖Genre & Tropes📖 : Thriller x murder plot x grumpy heroine x grief x hints of romance at the end

PS : to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

*This review is based on a NetGalley ARC in exchange for a neutral and honest review*

WARNING : Unlike the author's other books (suspense romance and paranormal romance), this book is a thriller without romance (apart from a very slight reference at the end)

A gripping and suspenseful thriller that I devoured !

I must admit that I hadn't looked at the summary or the genre of this book before reading it because Katie Reus is one of my favorite authors, so it was quite a surprise to discover a thriller with just a tiny hint of romance at the end !

Despite the fact that it's not my usual type of book, I absolutely DEVOURED this book ! The plot surrounding the murder of the heroine's sister in a rich neighborhood like Wisteria Lane was captivating, and I loved following the different stages of the investigation, which was quite twisted ! The different points of view are brilliant because you quickly suspect everyone, and I didn't see the ending coming at all !

But I also really loved the different characters, especially the heroine, who is very human and flawed, which makes her all the more interesting (a pilot working for an undercover detective agency, a recovering alcoholic, etc.).

The end with the detective at Christmas was perfect <3

In short, a thriller that I devoured in one morning and that I recommend to fans of the genre ! I hope it won't be the last thriller book by this author !

PS : To the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

Neighbor Liar Killer marks a noticeable shift in tone from this author’s usual romantic suspense, delivering something I’ve often found myself wishing for in her books - a stronger focus with on the suspense side. That wish is fully realised here with a story that is a full-on thriller and, while there’s a faint suggestion of a potential future romance, it feels very much like something reserved for later with the focus fixed firmly on building the tension and maintaining the momentum of the mystery. The story centres on Sloane Gala, a guarded and self-reliant protagonist whose only real emotional anchor is her sister, Cara, and her family. After a difficult upbringing with an alcoholic mother, it was Cara who raised her, making their bond unbreakable. When Sloane overhears Cara’s murder during a phone call, her shock and grief quickly harden into resolve. She’s determined to uncover the truth behind her sister’s death, no matter how dangerous it becomes.

The plot plays out like a modern twist on a classic murder mystery although instead of a locked-room scenario, the setting is an exclusive gated community, tightly controlled and populated largely by employees of an aeronautical company where Cara was a high-level employee. This creates a closed circle of suspects, neighbours who are also colleagues, creating an atmosphere thick with suspicion and unease while heightening the tension and creating motives. Sloane herself brings an interesting edge to the investigation. While she appears to be a corporate pilot, her true profession as an investigator naturally positions her to take matters into her own hands giving her both the skills and the opportunity to dig deeper. It also opens the door for meaningful character development. Initially detached and unwilling to form connections, Sloane is forced to reassess her views when her colleagues, people she had never considered friends, step up to support her in her investigation. Watching her gradually, and sometimes reluctantly, accept that assistance adds an emotional layer to her story. The dynamic between Sloane and Detective Hector Garcia brings an additional layer to the narrative. Their relationship is built around a grudging respect, even if it’s occasionally strained by her unorthodox methods which he doesn’t always approve of, but he’s got to admit gets results, and their interactions help ground the investigation.

Plot-wise, this book delivers. It’s tightly woven, with plenty of twists, misdirection, and escalating stakes. The introduction of a blackmailer and a rising body count keeps the tension high, while the suburban setting adds an unsettling contrast to the violence unfolding beneath the surface, turning an otherwise ordinary environment into something far more sinister and, as Sloane edges closer to the truth, the question isn’t just who the killer is, but what will she do when she finally uncovers their identity.

An Electrifying Ride: "Neighbor Liar Killer" Delivers on Suspense and Characters

Katie Reus's Neighbor Liar Killer is an absolute triumph in the suspense genre, delivering a gripping narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. This book is, without a doubt, a great read, masterfully blending heart-pounding suspense with a cast of unforgettable characters.

From the very first page, Reus plunges you into a world of tension and intrigue. The plot is intricately woven, featuring unexpected twists and turns that will challenge even the most seasoned thriller readers to predict the outcome. Just when you think you have it figured out, Reus pulls the rug out from under you, proving her prowess as a storyteller who knows how to keep the suspense mounting. The pervasive sense of unease and the constant question of "who can be trusted?" are brilliantly maintained throughout the narrative, making it impossible to put down.

Beyond the thrilling plot, the characters in Neighbor Liar Killer are truly a standout. 4.25stars-- NEIGHBOR LIAR KILLER by Katie Reus is a contemporary, adult, crime thriller focusing on thirty-four year old, corporate pilot and private investigator Sloane Gala in the aftermath of the murder of her beloved sister.

Told from first person perspective (Sloane) and several omniscient third person points of view, NEIGHBOR LIAR KILLER follows private investigator Sloane Gala as she begins a side investigation into the death of her sister Cara Alexander. On a flight home, while talking to her sister Cara, Sloane hears her sister’s murder, and immediately suspects someone her sister might know. With the help of her co-workers and fellow PIs Alex, Foxe, and their boss Fallon, Sloane begins a deep dive into Cara’s neighbors, all of whom live in an exclusive neighborhood that would put ‘Peyton Place’ to shame. From illicit affairs, to blackmail and addictions, Sloane uncovers a myriad of potential killers, players in a game of greed and vengeance.

The world building is complex, detailed and comprehensive as the reader is pulled into a proverbial who’s who of blackmailers, cheaters and liars, secrets and lies. As the bodies begin to amass, Sloane is targeted by more than one potential suspect.

There is a large ensemble cast of questionable secondary and supporting characters, many of whom are persons of interest in the murder investigation of Sloane’s sister- a proverbial introspection of who and why. We are introduced to Sloane’s co-workers Alex and Foxe, and their boss Fallon, as well as Sloane’s brother in law Ethan Alexander, his children Fiona, Quinn and Riley, nanny Hannah Brown, and Detective Hector Garcia. The requisite evil has many faces.

NEIGHBOR LIAR KILLER is a fast paced, twisted and suspenseful story of murder and greed, power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships. The character driven premise is thought provoking, dramatic, edgy and gritty; the characters are desperate, determined, and tragic.

I am hoping the author has plans for a series featuring Sloane Gala and her team of private investigators.

Neighbour Liar Killer is the kind of thriller that grabs you by the collar from the first line and refuses to let go. It opens with a moment so chilling—hearing a loved one’s final breaths over the phone—that the emotional stakes are set instantly, and brutally. From there, the story becomes a taut, breath‑held descent into grief, suspicion, and the dangerous clarity that comes when you have nothing left to lose.

What makes this novel so compelling is the narrator’s voice: raw, determined, and threaded with a quiet ache that never overwhelms the pace. Her sister’s death isn’t just a mystery to solve; it’s a wound that keeps reopening as she steps into an exclusive neighbourhood full of curated smiles, guarded secrets, and people who know far more than they’re willing to admit. The tension builds beautifully as she follows her own leads—unbound by rules, unprotected by procedure—and the danger around her sharpens with every truth she uncovers.

The neighbourhood itself becomes a character: polished on the surface, rotten underneath. Every interaction feels loaded, every neighbour a potential threat, and the sense of isolation grows in a way that feels both intimate and unnerving. The author balances this psychological pressure with brisk plotting, letting revelations land at just the right moments to keep the pages turning.

By the time the story reaches its final stretch, the question isn’t just who killed her sister—it’s who can be trusted at all, and whether the truth will cost her the same price. The result is a gripping, emotionally charged thriller that blends heartbreak with relentless suspense, perfect for readers who love mysteries rooted in family bonds, buried betrayals, and the quiet, terrifying knowledge that danger can live right next door.

Sloane has her own personal baggage from her childhood and it was her sister Cara that always stood by her side and was also there for her at the most difficult time of her life and now Sloane is a pilot but what others didn’t know is that she was also a undercover investigator so when she was on the phone to her sister Cara and heard her being killed and taking her last breath Sloane falls apart in her own way then gets up dusts herself off but determined to find out who killed her sister and why even if it means that she has to work in the gray area because now her three precious nieces are without there mother and Sloane had lost her sister and best friend so regardless of what she had to or the circumstances involved she will find Cara’s killer and bring them to justice anyway that she can. Detective Garcia and Sloane have a understanding most of the time but you can definitely feel there attraction to each other but neither lets it show but as danger gets closer and closer and the more that is discovered they know that they are getting closer than ever to identify the killer. WOW WOW WOW this book will take you on the biggest rollercoaster ride of your life and you will be on the edge of your seat while holding your breath through the whole book from start to finish. This is the type of story that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it and the twists and turns along the way will have you trying to work out who the killer is only for Katie to turn you upside down. This book is so addictive and will keep your attention throughout with all the action, drama, suspense, kidnapping, murder, plots and many other situations along the way that will have you wondering who the killer is and what happened next. This book is definitely worth reading and you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to read more books by Katie Reus in the future.

I've loved this authors other romantic suspense books and series. This was a great introduction to a new world but definitely different from the previously heavier romance threads books. This is more thriller/suspense with a background potential romance!

Sloane and Cara. It's always been them against the world - or their mother as things were. Then their world expanded when Cara met Ethan and had their kids. Sloane went off the rails for a while and now she's sober and enjoying her atypical life as an undercover investigator and pilot. She never expected to have to hear her sister being murdered.

Now all that bottled up rage, trauma are surfacing and she is determined that whoever hurt her sister is going to pay. She's unrelenting, determined and still trying to be a lone wolf when she has a whole team are ready and willing to assist her - if she'd only let them!

Think of a setting like Desperate Housewives, all big houses, big wallets and even bigger secrets. Illicit affairs, blackmail, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Whilst there is plenty of action, it's the quieter, reflective moments that get to you. Sloane wrestling with her emotions and memories. Watching Ethan and the children having to accept their new lives without their wife and mother .

She may not play by the same rules as the police but she won't jeopardise letting the culprit get away with murder. She even cooperates with the lead detective, after the fact but she still passes on information. I loved the grudging respect and admiration Sloane and Hector have for each other. And that little soupcon of attraction between them - mwaaaah.

I really hope this develops into a full fledged series as I really want to see how things develop between Sloane and Hector and other burning questions like; how Alex, Rose and baby are getting on, do we see more of the enigmatic Fallon?

Neighbor Liar Killer by Katie Reus
Mystery, thriller. 1st person present tense for Sloane with other secondary character chapters in 3rd person past.
Cara Alexander is killed in her own kitchen by someone she knows, while she’s on the phone with her sister Sloane. Cara mentions something about hiding copies of files but before she can say more, the phone is dropped. Sloane calls the police, but it’s too late.
Sloane Gala is a corporate pilot but that’s just a cover for her real job which is investigating and tagging suspects with electronic trackers. Sloane knows the police are working on the case, but she can’t just sit on the sidelines in case something is missed. She’s going to find out who killed her sister with her full team helping. Her brother-in-law and nieces deserve to get closure. If that puts Sloane in the crosshairs, she’s willing.

Fast moving investigation and action as suspects are interviewed separately by Sloane and the police and they try to piece together where everyone was that afternoon. The family lives in a gated community and many of the residents work at the same company. Sloane follows up on affairs, fired employees, confidential paperwork, drinking problems, blackmail, and more. Who is lying? Who pulled the trigger?

So many suspects and layered secrets in the community. Interesting format changing from 1st to 3rd. The 3rd person chapters are short and add a different POV of the ongoing action, adding character depth and connections.

Suspenseful and gripping. Loved Sloane’s coworkers for their unquestionable support and talents.

I received an early copy of this and purchased a copy to reread and keep.

If I could give Neighbor Liar Killer 10 stars I would because I loved it that much! This was a bit of a departure for Katie Reus because Neighbor Liar Killer is a straight up suspense/thriller and it kept me glued till the final page. Sloane Gala is a pilot to all that know her except for her inner circle. She's also an undercover investigator. Sadly she's about to begin the most important case of her life, solving her sister's murder. Her beloved sister Cara was murdered while having a conversation with Sloane and she won't stop at anything to bring her sister's killer to justice. Cara and her family live in an upscale, gated Washington state community. With that type of security, Sloane suspects that the killer is a neighbor and quite possibly a friend. She plans to investigate everyone while they only assume that they're talking to a grieving sister. The police are also investigating this homicide and lead detective Hector Garcia has been made privy to Slone's background but he doesn't quite approve of her methods. So who among these wealthy residents is responsible for destroying this family? Well, I'm not going to tell so you're definitely going to need to read Neighbor Liar Killer! It was told from multiple POVs and has all the twists, intrigue, action that I look forward to in a thriller.

The first line drew me in until the very last page! A thrilling story of a woman, Sloane Gala, who was determined to find the person who murdered her sister. Cara was the one who was there for her during their time with their alcoholic and angry mother. Cara and her husband, along with their three daughters, live in a highly secure and gated community. Sloane knows it must have been someone in the neighborhood who killed her sister and intends to find the person and make them pay. Sloane is a pilot, but that is her cover for her real career working with a group of friends as investigators. The story is mostly character driven as Sloane slowly pieces together what was happening in her sister’s life. Detective Hector Garcia is assigned to the case and soon realizes that Sloane is more invested in the case than the sister of the victim. ‘She learns that the murder may have had something to do with her sister’s work situation and that Cara, concerned for her safety, had hidden evidence for her. Sloane continually puts herself into the investigation and dangerous situations to find the killer. As the killer realizes that she is getting closer, they attempt to make sure that she ends up just like her sister. An absolutely amazing mystery by one of my favorite authors…a must read! Sloane was on the phone with her sister Cara. She heard her murder. Sloane knows Cara knew the killer. But in the gated community in which Cara lived, everyone knows everyone. And everyone has secrets they're hiding.

Sloane thought of herself as a loner. She didn't get close to anyone. Except Cara who practically raised her. Cara's death hit her hard and her shields grew stronger, as she was determined to flush out the killer. So she was completely taken aback when her co-workers for investigative firm for which she worked all showed up for Cara's funeral. and knowing what Sloane was going to do, they stayed to back her up. I liked watching Sloane slowly let down her guard and start to open herself up, not just to them, but to her nieces, her brother in law and eventually, to the Hector Garcia, the police detective investigating the murder.

Another engaging, suspenseful novel with a bit of a twist. It's a murder mystery with a night time soap opera feel. A cast of interesting characters who all have something they're hiding. And Sloane needs to discover which one would kill to keep it hidden. The possibilities were endless and it seemed as if they could all be guilty.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story hooked me from the very beginning and I raced through it to find out how it would end. The story starts with Sloane talking on the phone to her sister, and then hearing her sister being murdered. There are a host of suspects that could be the killer and there are several different situations going on in the story that could have a connection to the murder. Sloane is a no nonsense character that will do everything in her power to find her sister's killer and to protect her sister's children. There are loan sharks, blackmailers, co-workers, neighbors and more that could have something to do with Cara's murder. This is written kind of like a police procedural where Sloane follows the leads and investigates to find out the villain and she has help from her co-workers and Garcia from the local police. I really like the character of Sloane and the story kept me interested from beginning to ending. Sloane gets her villain in the end. I normally don't read a lot of these kinds of thrillers but this one was awesome! Thank you Netgalley and KR PRess for the complimentary copy of the story.

There’s a reason Katie Reus is one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense. She consistently delivers quality stories with wonderfully heartfelt characters and engaging and sexy suspense. I know that when I pick up one of her books, I'd better have a lot of free time because I will not want to put it down, and this one was no exception. Neighbor Liar Killer is yet another winner in this author's fantastic line-up of books. It’s her first suspense book, and boy, did she keep me on the edge of my seat!

Ms. Reus did a great job keeping me invested in the story while trying to figure out the actual villain. Along the way, she introduces us to the intriguing cast of secondary characters, who add so much to the overall story.

Neighbor Liar Killer is a fast-paced story and incredibly hard to put down. Sloan, the
private investigator and pilot, immediately grabbed my attention. The
tense scene where she receives a call from her sister only to hear her
being attacked was heart-wrenching, and it set the tone perfectly for
the rest of the novel.

The chaos that follows after Sloan lands
and rushes to her sister’s home keeps you on edge. With every neighbor
holding secrets and everyone seeming like a suspect, the suspense never
lets up. Detective Garcia’s insight that there’s more to the case than
just a robbery adds an intriguing layer of complexity. Plus, the
sizzling chemistry between Sloan and Garcia adds a fun and engaging
dynamic to the storyline.

I also loved how Sloan’s work team
plays a significant role, making the story even richer and more
exciting. Overall, this was definitely a gripping and thrilling read
that I highly recommend.

Thanks for introducing me to such a fantastic book!

I love a good suspense and this addictive murder mystery is up there with the best of them. The story literally starts with a conversation between Sloane and her sister, during which Sloane hears her sister get shot. Herein starts Sloane’s personal investigation into her murder. So many suspects, all it would seem with motives, many also with alibis, who can she trust? During her investigation she ‘assists’ the detective in charge, Hector Garcia, and vice versa. Between them, along with her work colleagues, they uncover a whole host of secrets, lies and even more dead bodies. Entertaining throughout, suspenseful throughout, and highly emotional at times. Sloane’s 3 young nieces are adorable, they really did pull at my heart strings. A romantic undercurrent between Garcia and Sloane adds a little bit of light relief in the latter chapters. An entertaining whodunnit. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

This story grabs you from the first chapter. When Sloane is speaking with her sister Cara on the phone while she is in the air flying her vintage Cessna and they are talking about things like sisters do however Sloane knows something is wrong and pushes Cara to tell her what is going on, as Cara begins to open up and tell her, Sloane hears a noise that lets her know Cara is not alone anymore and then she hears gunshots, then footsteps, someone breathing then the line goes dead. Sloane and her co-workers begin looking into who killed Cara while trying not to step on the toes of the police. Cara was the only one that knew that Sloane was not just a pilot, that was a great cover for her real work as a PI, and she was not going to rest until she knew who killed her sister. As lies and emotions unfold, Sloane is trying to hold it all together while maintaining her sobriety. This is a fast paced emotional ride. You will love this story and the characters involved. Well Done!!!!

As a longtime fan of Katie Reus, I was really excited to see her take a step into the thriller/suspense genre with Neighbor Liar Killer. I always appreciate when an author tries something new, and this definitely showcases a different side of her writing.

The premise immediately hooked me. Hearing a loved one’s murder over the phone is such a chilling setup, and it pulled me into Sloane’s story right away. I also really appreciated Sloane as a main character. She felt grounded and real, and I liked that her struggles and emotions were given space instead of being glossed over. Her relationships, especially with her sister and nieces, added a strong emotional core to the story. I enjoyed how many potential suspects there were, and the way the story explored the hidden lives within an affluent neighborhood kept things interesting.

Thank you to Netgalley and Katie Reus for an Arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This story delivers a murder mystery that will have the readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end.
Sloane, a pilot , is close to her sister Cara. Especially, since Cara basically brought her up. While having a phone conversation with Cara, Sloane hears over the phone as Cara first acknowledges the person visiting and then murder her.
Determined to do her own investigation, Sloane does her own digging doing things the detective assigned to the murder, Hector Garcia, can’t go.
In doing so, is she also putting herself at the crosshairs of the murderer?
Above all, who wanted Cara dead and why?
From the first page to the last the suspense is intense , as are the twists and turns of the story.
Will Sloane survive it all to find the truth?
Another winner by this talented author. Here is to hoping we’ll get more of Sloane and Hector in the near future.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I r eceived an ARC of this book from KR Press via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. This was a pretty solid thrilled. I enjoyed the character of Sloane as well as her colleagues. It's a unique presmise to be investigators disguised as pilots. They are definitely strong women!

I always enjoy tales of the uber-rich and their gated communities. These folks, for the most part, seemed more realistic and down-to-earth than many millionaire characters in other books I have read.

I also enjoyed Sloane's relationship with her sister and nieces. I would have liked a little more backstory on Sloane and Cara's childhood.

The author does a good job making everyone a suspect. I didn't guess who the culprit actually was.

This is a pretty quick read. I could see Sloane and her colleagues becoming stars of a series.

Katie Reus enthralls audiences in Neighbor Liar Killer.

I was completely immersed in this chilling suspense that starts right from the beginning!

Sloane is a pilot on a flightpath when her sister Cara calls. They’re talking and then someone comes into Cara’s house. Cara acknowledges this person. Cara knows this person. And then she is murdered while on the phone with Sloane! The terror, the grief, the disbelief, the anger, the hurt! Who would do this? Who would murder her beloved sister in broad daylight?

OMG! This book was SO good! I could not put it down! There was so much going on. The story was meticulously layered in mystery, suspense, angst, subterfuge, and soul-gripping grief.

Neighbor Liar Killer is perfect for any mystery reader. I highly recommend it!

Neighbour Liar Killer😳

Wow, what a great story! The opening when Sloane is on the phone to her sister gave me Eye for an Eye vibes initially, with a point of differentiation between these two…especially as you can imagine what the other person who is listening to what’s happening and the panic and absolute helplessness of the situation😢

Suffice to say, I had no idea who the killer was until it was revealed…and I usually always have an idea way before the end! The characters in this story even though new, felt like we’d been friends for years, the camaraderie between them was so easy to read and the storyline developed really well too🙌

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️‍🩹

I volunteered to read and leave a review through Net Galley of Neighbor Liar Killer . Wow this story took off from the start and didn't slow down till the end . Sloane works for an investigation firm , but her cover story is she's a corporate pilot while talking to her sister Cara over the phone she hears her being murdered . Sloane sets out to find her sisters killer and her co workers step in to help . There's so many twists and turns . The main characters are unique and quirky . The intrigue and suspense were off the charts it definitely kept me enthralled .
This story is well written and it kept me guessing to the conclusion of the story . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

A new direction from Katie, Neighbor Liar Killer was a winning read from start to finish. Sloane Gala was the absolute best heroine, a force to be reckoned with. Sloane was a fierce and resourceful protector who didn’t necessarily need to play by the rules. Her vulnerability only added to her appeal, and it certainly didn’t stop Sloane from getting the answers she needed to find her sister’s killer. All the secondary characters were so well developed that the story flowed seamlessly from one chapter to the next. The whisper of a potential romance between Sloane and Detective Garcia was an added teaser. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review her work.

This story started off strong and didn't let up once! Sloane is on the phone with her sister and has the horrible misfortune of hearing her sister get murdered. She then sets off on a mission to figure out who was responsible for the death of her sister. There are no shortage of people it could be and they are all at least somewhat suspicious.

The author does a great job of keeping the tension building throughout the book and it moves quickly enough that your attention doesn't waver. I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store!

I just loved this story! Unlike other books I have read from this author, the focus here is the suspense with just a hint of a romantic subplot. I was totally gripped by the mystery and did not see the actual villain coming. There was lots of action and surprises to keep things exciting. I really liked all of the characters and really connected with Sloane. I also appreciated the chapters from other characters' POVs - this sometimes distracts me, but this didn't feel overwhelming at all but provided some helpful context to the story. Plus the ending with Sloane and Hector was very cute. I just adored this book and can't wait for another one!
