Lyrielle owns only two things: a friend named Ifan, and the courage to keep her heart open when the world strikes her.
Bound by magical contract to parents who treat her as a slave, Lyrielle has served in their inn since childhood, protected by Ifan, a eunuch with an immense heart who dreams for the two of them of a better life. The day three dragon hunters buy her to sell her across the sea, she loses Ifan, her only family, and discovers a world in which humans are nothing but merchandise.
Coll, Titorn, and Valeyrios are dragons haven’t been able to shift for three centuries, trapped in human form by a curse that haunts their entire people. Coll doesn't smile, doesn't speak of his past, and shouldn't be looking at her the way he does. Titorn is gentleness itself, the one whose smile warms the worst mornings and whose patience knows no bounds. Valeyrios is the warrior who throws her to the ground six times a day to teach her to fight, and then buys her a hairbrush without a word of explanation. Their mission is simple: sell this evalune to the army of Dragonis, where her ability to disrupt the magic of dragons will be used to contain the Dragans, a corrupted and murderous form of dragon. But nothing goes as planned.
Every night, Coll is forced to sleep against Lyrielle to maintain the bond of the contract. His dragon heat wraps around the body of the woman he refuses to desire. Lyrielle's touch brings forth on Coll's hip the first shifting scale seen since the curse. And when the time comes to sell her, none of the three hunters can bring himself to do it.
I have a soft spot for slow burns that actually burn, slow enough to build desire, deepen the tension, and make the spicy moments truly satisfying. I love love stories that are complicated, sometimes impossible, always filled with obstacles.
I love men who are tough on the outside and tender on the inside. And women who face hardships, fall, rise again, and keep moving forward until they reach what matters most to them: freedom.
I love building worlds, getting lost in them, and playing with their rules and boundaries, especially in romantasy. Creating places where readers can escape.
My writer’s heart is sensitive but resilient. I write with passion and with the desire to make readers dream.
Oh how I yearn for more of Coll and Lyrielle! They're so beautiful together. And more of my glorious Titorn please, he's so adorable!
The author really did a marvellous job at writing characters who are easy to love (and some easy to hate). Titorn and Ifan being my personal favs, they're both sweethearts.
The story was perfectly paced, neither boring nor too much at once. The calm moments permitted growth for the characters and their relationships, which helped a lot with learning to know and love them. As for the more eventful moments, they served the plot perfectly well.
Dragons? A slow burn romance? A deep trio bromance? A war? Magical contracts and mysterious powers? AND an actual good plot that makes sense? All checked!
The author did a wonderful job at creating a captivating story woven with lots of feels, mystery and a web of relationships, some complex, some the cutest I've ever seen.
It reads itself so easily and leaves you craving for more.
I can't wait to read the next book and see what will happen to the three dragons and Lyrielle. See more of her and Coll together and all of them as a team. I'll be waiting for the following part of the adventure in Dragonis!
I have no words to accurately describe how much I love this book.
Literally so good. I feel like it lit my soul on fire in the best possible way. There are SOOO many quotes that made me 🥹. The plot is so good!!! The characters are developed in such a unique individual way. I love all the different dynamics we got to see. I can’t wait for book two.
This has to be one of my favorite books I've read so far!!! It's all of my favorite things in one!! (Romance fantasy and DRAGONS) Im beyond excited for book 2
Absolutely unputdownable. I was hooked from the start and stayed up way too late reading. Lyrielle is fierce, heartfelt, and unforgettable. I’m already eager for the next book.
This story opens with a heartbreaking backstory for the FMC. She’s lived such a hard life that you can’t help but feel for her—nothing ever seems to come easy, and her luck is consistently awful. All she truly wants is to be loved and appreciated, which makes her journey even more emotional to follow. As the story unfolds, it turns into a rollercoaster of emotions. You genuinely don’t know who you want her to end up with, and that tension keeps you hooked. Every twist pulls you in deeper. I can’t wait to see where this badass character ends up. Will it be with one of the MMCs… or maybe more than one? Who knows—but I’m completely locked in and ready for the ride.
'Bound by Flame' by Ashley Miller, is a high stakes, high tension, fantasy romance you will not be able to put down.
Lyrielle has spent her 25 years in servitude, bound by a magical contract. She is no stranger to hard work, to harsh words, and to brutal punishments. As a magicless human, she is treated with hostility and little value, until the day she meets three men. No, not men... Dragons...and hunters of the Last Flame Guild. They buy out her contract for an exorbitant amount, and steal her away from all she has ever known.
But she is not free. She is merchandise. An investment. The Dragons of Dragonis can no longer shift, and the threat of their cursed enemy is more dire than ever. Lyrielle has a rare gift that can help; therefore, she is destined to be sold to an army across the sea, to be used in a war she knows nothing about. But on their journey, she presents skills that a human should not possess, the consequences of which could mean something significant. They start to see her worth, beyond financial gain, and it has them questioning their resolve to sell her.
As the days and weeks of travel pass, walls start to come down, connections form and intensify, and Lyrielle develops an attachment that could tear her apart at journey's end. But are these threads of connection, pulling within her, simply the result of yet another binding contract, or is it something more?
Titorn, Valeyrios, and Coll, didn't intend to care for their human merchandise. This work was meant to be a simple transaction. However, they do care. They want to shield her, to help her, to understand her abilities. And Coll... he watches, he yearns, he protects... and he can no longer see beyond Lyrielle and the fundamental change she inspires within him.
When Lyrielle is suddenly sold to the army, she vows to forget the three dragons who snuck into her heart, she vows to forget Coll. But nothing will stop them from getting her back. Not even a war.
'Bound by Flame' is a fast paced and immersive journey across a visceral fantasy world. It's a dragon story with a truly unique twist that is breathing a breath of fresh air on the genre. Ashley Miller has masterfully given us characters with depth and complexity, with believable flaws and redeeming qualities. You will fall in love with the comradery of Titorn, Valeyrios, and Coll. Your skin will tingle with the tension of desire between Lyrielle and Coll. This story is engaging from the very beginning and is guaranteed to hold you captive to the very end.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Slavery/contractual servitude, slave trade system Attempted sexual abuse Battle scenes, wounding, and mention of death
SPICE: No sex scenes but PLENTY of desire, close proximity sleeping conditions, physical attraction and a couple scene of nudity. The tension is delicious.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Cannot wait to continue this story.
What a fantastic introduction into this world! It was extremely well paced, and I just couldn't stop reading as it had me hooked by the first chapter.
All the characters were very well described and loveable, even those we only knew for a short amount of time and I sincerely hope many of them return to support the main characters in the following books!
Our FMC was so well described and I found myself feeling so protrctive and proud of her progress and growth as though she was MY best friend. One of the best growths ive read and I am so excited to see her develop further and really show her gentle strength. ( I can totally understand where all those dragons were coming from protecting our sweet girl!!)
Now onto the boys and I dont even know where to begin!!! I absolutely loved the dynamic between the three and that pure loyal devotion to one another but also to how they treated Lyrielle as well, it was such a lovely experience to see such a positive platonic love develop.
Col... no words. All I can say is I NEED more Col POV in book 2 because that man YEARNS and I'm so here for it!!! The different POVs were written so well and you could hear the difference in the narrative. Id love to see more characters input in book 2 as well.
About 1.5 🌶 but I can see book 2 being sizzling and I am so so so excited to see what lies ahead for Col and Lyri!
Dark fantasy + dragons + why choose vibes + a broken heroine who refuses to stay small?? I was DONE for.
The FMC has survived the unthinkable—sold, used, forced to become whatever people needed her to be. And the way that trauma is woven into her strength?? It hits HARD. She’s not weak—she’s surviving, adapting, and slowly realizing just how powerful she really is.
And then we have Coll… 😮🔥 The way he looks at her like she’s something sacred and dangerous?? The tension?? The connection?? OBSESSED. And knowing she’s the reason dragons might shift again?? The stakes felt INSANE.
But what really got me?? THE THREE DRAGON WARRIORS.
The devotion. The obsession. The “burn the world down to get her back” energy??? Yeah… I ate that UP.
This isn’t just romance—it’s survival, power, and a bond that refuses to break even when everything is trying to tear them apart. War, magic, betrayal, and a heroine discovering she is so much more than what was done to her.
If you love: 🐉 Dragon shifters 🔥 Dark fantasy with high stakes 🖤 Broken but powerful FMCs 😈 Possessive, protective warriors ⚔️ War + magic + destiny 💫 “They’ll burn the world for her” energy
READ. THIS. BOOK.
Because when those warriors come for her? It’s going to be destruction in the best way possible 😏🔥
-Dual POV written in first person -3 delicious shifters with minimal spice however I imagine the next book will be 🔥🌶️ (not RH) -Fated mates(?) -Brotherhood, strong loyalty
The story follows Lyrielle as she goes from a slave at an inn to bought property of three dragon shifter hunters who wish to take her back to their guild then send her to the frontlines of war. I enjoyed the relationship between the hunters and how each of their feelings for Lyrielle blossomed in different ways. I appreciated how the shifters weren’t invincible and how the mfc didn’t go from being inexperienced to suddenly being an amazing power wielding warrior. Though I enjoyed the authors writing style and the plot, I feel like there were some scenes that should have been put on paper. For example the bath scene and some of the mfc’s training at the war camp. It would’ve been nice to witness how she connects with her new friends and how she becomes one of the best trainees at the camp.
Overall, the story was engaging and I read it in one day. I can’t wait for book two!
I really enjoyed this book. Lyrielle is the MFC and she is bound by contract to work for her parents. When three dragons meet her, the life she knew changes forever. I loved that Lyrielle becomes stronger and smarter as the book starts. I didn’t really like her at first: she tried running away about five minutes after she leaves her parents, and didn’t even make it far. I didn’t think she was clever at all. But as the story continues, she learns more and has so much character growth. I really loved her by the end of the book. I love the ambiguity behind what her power really is. I can’t wait to find out in the next book what she really can do.
I also loved her relationship between the three men. I wasn’t sure at first who the MMC would be because she had a different friendship with all of them. Each of them was special to her, and I loved who her “fated mate” turned out to be. I really think her friendships with them were my favorite part. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. Thank you Ashley Miller for the ARC. The views are entirely my own.
I love that this book starts off with enemies to lovers vibes, though the main characters always protect and take care of each other. The main character was fantastic, strong and kind despite the horrible way she grew up. The story kept a very good pace, with information presented as needed. There were so many good tidbits popped into the story that the author will surely give more information on as the story progresses. Plot wise this story was very easy to follow with not too much information being thrown at the reader at once. I'm really curious about the true history behind the dragons and how that's going to impact their future. Also hoping we see more of some of the "secondary" characters like Jase, Aelys, Ifan, and Kalel. And for more interactions with Titorn, Valeyrios, and Lyrielle. Extremely curious to see how the relationships play out between Lyrielle, Coll, Ifan, Jase, Kalel, Titorn, and Valerios. Can't wait for book 2!
I absolutely devoured this fantasy in full gremlin mode. Dragons? Immediate obsession. I was hooked from page one.
The world building pulls you straight in and refuses to let go. Everything feels vivid, intense, and just chaotic enough to keep you fully locked in.
The FMC? Iconic. She starts at rock bottom and just keeps fighting like she has something to prove to the universe. And honestly, she wins. I loved her, I rooted for her, I would absolutely make questionable decisions alongside her.
The relationships? So good. The men, the friendships, the found family vibes… it all adds to the emotional chaos in the best way.
And the mystery? The author really said “here’s a crumb, figure it out” and I ate it up every single time.
That ending had me staring at the page like I just got personally attacked. I need book two immediately because I have to know what happened next.
I really enjoyed this book. The book at first started a little slow for me. However, it picked up very quickly and I could not put it down! This book is great if you love fantasy and dragon shifters! It's told in first person with a dual POV with very little spice. I would say 0.5-1/5 level of spice. This is a slow burn novel so I'm thinking and hoping the next book with have more! 🤞🏻
This story starts off with the FMC in a very hard situation and sad back story. As the story progresses it seems like she goes from one hardship to the next. The book had my emotions on an emotional roller-coaster throughout the whole thing. I feel like there were some areas missing that I wish the author added in why some things happened the way they did. There are three dragon shifters MMC and I'm super excited to see who the FMC will end up with. I can not wait for book two!! 😊
This wasn’t your typical dragon shifter story! I didn’t realize I could like a book about dragons with not on dragon in shifted form. (But that is part of the story) the FMC has such a traumatic past and throughout you see that she just wants acceptance. I enjoyed the world the author created and the duel POV in first person. The connections with the MMCs are beginning but I can’t wait to read more about their relationships as this book series continues, maybe they are fated….However this book is building to the second where the spice and shifting seem to be developing. Excited for book 2! This book has low spice, and not really any tiggers, but always check for yourself. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This was a surprisingly enjoyable read—even without much actual dragon action. The story leans into a slow-burn pace, focusing more on character growth and relationships than spice. Lyrielle starts off a bit frustrating, but her development throughout the book really pays off, and by the end she feels much stronger and more compelling.
The dynamic between her and the three men is a highlight, with each relationship feeling unique and meaningful. While I wish there were more detailed scenes and emotional connection moments, the foundation is strong and clearly building toward something bigger. Overall, an engaging start to what feels like it could become a really solid series.
Bound by Flame by Ashley Miller was such an entertaining and easy read. If you enjoy dragon shifters, fantasy mixed with romantasy, and a good enemies-to-lovers dynamic, this book is definitely worth picking up.
The story flows well, the characters are easy to like, and the chemistry between the main characters keeps things interesting from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the balance between fantasy adventure and romance — it never felt too heavy, but still kept me invested in the world and the relationship development.
Overall, this was a fun, addictive read that kept me turning the pages, and I’m already looking forward to reading the sequel.
This book will suck you in and it is a page turner! I love the slow burn relationship between Coll and Lyri. She goes from being sold and thought of as just a possession to being loved and adored by 3 dragons who would die for her. It shows you that family isn’t always who you are born into but who you choose to surround yourself with. She is finally able to grow and find herself and in the process has found her fated mate and brothers along the way. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

She was sold like property… but she might be the one thing they can’t let go. 🔥
Cursed dragons. A girl who breaks their magic. And a bond that was never supposed to feel like this…
I love it the slow burn is slow Burning....at first i did not like Coll he was giving hot and cold but now i'm hook i love him and the FMC Lyrielle love her growth the way she see life can't wait for book 2 !!
This book is captivating and well written. You can imagine everything easier because of how descriptive the author is. She pulls you into the book and her world.
It is a slow burn and I’m excited to see how that romance develops in book 2!
It is technically a dragon book but we don’t see any dragon forms in this book.

At the very beginning I wasn't sure this book would be for me. I was wrong! It was refreshing to read a story a little different surrounding dragon shifters. I enjoyed the way the story progressed and the cliffhanger along with the characters. Look forward to seeing what happens next
I love and adore dragons, shifters and fantastic world building and this book delivered on all of the above. Lyri has had such a tough life and my heart broke for her multiple times even though I knew in my heart that everything has a way of eventually working out for the good and the bad.
I can’t wait to see where Lyri and Coll’s story takes us next
oh wow. this book was so good. from the first chapter, I knew this was gong to be good. I was so invested. I loved the twists and turns. I was glued to my seat while I devoured this one. the world building was amazing. the description, the characters, so good. i couldn't enough of this. this checked all my boxes. amazing story. this is an absolute must read
Loved this story! It started a little slow but I appreciate it for the world building and background it gives! The story was amazing and watching the FMC grow and transform was truly wonderful! It had everything I loved in a romantasy! Slow burn, magic, dragons, and mmcs that will quickly become some of your favorite people!
What a great journey this book takes you on! Lyrielle’s relationship with her 3 dragons are all varied and I like that it isn’t insta love, the bonds take time to develop. I couldn’t put this book down and devoured it in less than a day. Can’t wait for book number 2.
I absolutely loved this dragon romantasy. The world building is so good you can imagine yourself standing right alongside the characters. Ive fallen in love with each of the main characters, they each bring something different to the story. I can’t wait for book 2.
I received a copy of this book from the author and have chosen to leave my review.
I loved this book! I need so much more of Coll and Lyri! I love the way the author hints at the heat between the MMC and FMC without jumping right into it. A true slow burn that leaves you wanting more and more. I cannot wait for book two Claimed in Fire and to see how Coll and Lyri’s story develops. I would recommend this to anyone who loves dragon and a slow burn romance worth burning for.
The book starts off by giving us an idea of the type of life that Lyri has, bound by magic to work for her parents. A girl with no magic makes has three dragons interested in her. This book is heartbreaking, made up family, sacrifice, and love. The book ends with a cliffhanger that gives us an idea of what or who is to come.
I loved it. Such wonderful character and world development. I really feel attached to the characters. There were some minor grammatical things that I noticed but nothing that messed with the plot. I’m so eager to read book two.
Loved this book! The Loyalty of friends whom become more like family! The story line was interesting with a deep history that hasn't been fully brought to light. Cant wait to find out where this story goes
