I’m a former MMA fighter and the Sgt at Arms for my club, so I’m no stranger to fights. Imagine my surprise when a 5’10” redhead with legs for days proves to be my strongest opponent yet. I have a battle on my hands just to get her to give me a chance, then an even bigger battle to protect her from her stalker. I have to put everything on the line to win this one, but losing – losing her – just isn’t an option.
I’m a narrator for romance audiobooks, but I stopped believing in happily-ever-after a long time ago. Imagine my surprise when a biker with muscles for days decides to prove me wrong. He fights to win me over, then fights even harder to keep me safe. It’s not just my heart on the line anymore. It’s my life – our life together – that’s at stake, and winning is the only option.
Author's Note: The 5th Circle Guardians aren't a hard-core, 1% club, but they do have their own code of conduct that they live by. They live hard, love harder, and know that rules, laws, and hearts are bound to be broken along the way.
This is the fourth book in the series, with each book following a different couple in the club. Although there are some underlying story arcs woven throughout the series, this is a standalone story with an HEA and no cliffhanger. There is no cheating between our hero and heroine. It is intended for mature audiences due to language, explicit scenes, violence, murder, and mentions of illegal activity. There is a flashback to an incident of child abuse/abuse of a parent.
I've been an avid reader since I was a little girl. When I was nine years old, I cried buckets after reading Bridge to Terabithia, which led to an intense love of books that rip my heart out before putting me back together again.
I can vividly remember 12-year-old me discovering my grandmother's Harlequin Romances, which I snuck out of her room to read. I also vividly remember getting caught by my mother, who had already told 12-year-old me that I was too young to read those books. I was grounded for a month, but my love of romance books was born.
Since then, I've gone on to devour books from many genres but I always come back to romances. Whether they are sweet and funny, or dark and angsty, I love them all.
Born and raised in the Midwestern US, I've been married for over thirty years, and am the mother of two incredible people. When I'm not reading or writing, you can most likely find me browsing through antique stores or eating chocolate.
1. Trick was just too smug and slimy for me. All of his leering, winking and smirking turned my stomach. 2. They crossed JD off the suspect list because he was a vet and donated to some good causes? Seriously? 3. I hated the way Trick always called Lauren “Babe” or “Darlin’” like he did with all his randoms because he didn’t bother to remember their names. And, when Lauren finally grew a spine and objected to him calling both her and one of the club bunnies “babe”, she ended up apologizing for being “bitchy”. 4. I saw the “plot twist” coming from the beginning. 5. There was never any explanation of *why* JD killed his gf “in a fit of jealous rage”. He loved her. They had a good relationship. She didn’t cheat on him or try to break up with him. He just got up one day and decided to kill her?

Trick is the Sgt at Arms for the 5th Circle Guardians. He loves his club, likes the ladies although he has no interest in anything long term and is loyal to a fault.
Lauren has relocated after her ex-fiancee played around and she needed a fresh start, being close to her Uncle who is a member of the 5th Circle is a bonus. Lauren sees Trick in a compromising position and quickly realizes the flirt is a player. She decides it is best to stay away. Trick though is interested and is quickly realizing his playboy ways is making Lauren hesitate in giving him a chance. Finding out she has a stalker though has Trick staying with Lauren to keep her safe. Can he prove he is the man for Lauren or will it be too late when the stalker gets too close?
Another entertaining read from this author. I enjoyed this story quite a bit, great chemistry and liked the suspense.
If there was ever a poster child for bro it would be this guy.
It was on the lighter side since all the bad stuff wasn’t super descriptive.
I would say for like 70% of the book trick/jase’s personality was not for me. He is such a bro. I really don’t know any other way to describe it. He lifts, eats super gym healthy, flirts and f*cks with anything that moves, and is really into winking.
I’m actually surprised how quickly Lauren came around to trick just because he was hot. Her last partner (fiancé) cheated on her behind her back repeatedly. Even with somebody, she considered a very close friend. I just don’t know how a couple months away from that situation wouldn’t lead you to be a little bit more wary of getting into bed with somebody with a pretty similar outlook on women. It’s not that I think that trick is going to cheat on her, it’s more that I didn’t understand Lauren. She willfully admits she has terrible taste in men, thankfully trick turned out to be a good guy in the end.
Lauren, an audio book narrator moves back to town to be close to her uncle Bill, AKA Viking after she discovers her fiancé has been cheating. Trick is very attracted to Lauren, even though Viking has warned she if off limits, so when a stalker becomes a problem he volunteers himself as her protection.
A great story with twists as the club work to uncover the identity of the stalker and a catch up with the rest of the 5th Circle Guardians family and their humour and banter. I’m looking forward to more of this series.
I absolutely loved Trick and Lauren. They were perfect together. I enjoyed the storyline and the interaction between all the members of the club. Trick really had to work for Lauren's attention and prove that he was nothing like her ex. The opening chapter flashback was a great way to learn how Trick knew the club as a kid. I'm never disappointed in this series!
Well, I finished the book. That's the only reason I can give it two stars. It was boring. The characters were flat, the chemistry was forced, and the villain was clear from the first few chapters.
