The letters were gentle. The man behind them is anything but.
Bree comes to Courage County looking for steadiness and somewhere that finally feels like home. Instead, she lands in the path of a rough-edged mountain man who gets under her skin fast. Dalton is intense, watchful, and impossible to ignore, and the more Bree tries to keep things professional, the harder it is to deny the pull between them. Then the letters start showing up, tender in all the ways her life has never been, and the loneliness she’s carried for years finally feels seen.
What starts as curiosity turns into something heavier once Bree realizes desire isn’t the only thing growing between them. Dalton wants with a force that should feel dangerous, but the deeper she gets, the more his hunger reads as devotion. As old wounds push Bree to expect disappointment, Dalton meets her with patience, care, and an intensity that makes every touch feel less like risk and more like refuge.
Bree starts out guarded and lonely, but over time she lets herself believe love can be steady and real. Dalton begins as possessive certainty and raw need, yet he grows into someone who proves tenderness can be as powerful as obsession. Together they move from instant attraction and sharp tension into a bond built on longing, heat, reassurance, and the relief of finally feeling safe with the right person.
Ultra steamy, instalove, grumpy sunshine, secret admirer, mountain man, curvy girl, protective hero, small town romance about two lonely people finding the safety, tenderness, and sense of home they’ve been denied for years. Their connection is intense from the start, but beneath the heat it’s about emotional neglect, trust after betrayal, wounded softness, obsessive devotion, and the kind of love that chooses you fully, holds you steady, and starts to heal what was broken.
The Elevator Pitch: A lonely nurse arrives in a mountain town hoping for steadiness and finds herself caught in the orbit of a gruff man whose silence hides obsession, tenderness, and a startling gift for love letters. As anonymous notes begin to reach into the parts of her that have always gone untouched, desire and trust start winding together in ways that feel both dangerous and deeply right. What unfolds is a fierce romance built on longing, protection, and the terrifying hope that being wanted this completely might finally feel like home.
It's not funny to barely meet someone and throw insults, especially undeserved ones. Talk about manners. It dampens the mood in the story for me. I liked the heroine very much, her occupation decision before her outburst, and now I like her a bit less afterward. I like the hero's teasing, positive attitude in that situation. He's unexpectedly intense, protective, observant, and swoony towards the heroine. Both seem nice and kind, with their own hardships.

Why is it that the things we can pour so effortlessly onto a page often feel impossible to say out loud? That quiet contradiction sits at the heart of this tender, beautifully told love story. That said, I did wish we’d gotten more of those letters to Bree. Dalton writes three that we get to see but only delivers two, and I couldn’t help wanting just a little more of that magic. Still, from the very beginning, I was completely hooked. Bree won me over the second she tumbled into Courage County. Her excitement about starting a new job at the retirement center was infectious, and her clumsy streak (complete with an unfortunate boot from an earlier mishap) added a layer of charm that made her instantly lovable. And then there’s that unforgettable first encounter: Bree rushing into the employee lounge, only to almost collide with a half-naked, utterly drool-worthy mountain of a man. Dalton. A slight miscommunication has Bree giving him a well-deserved (if slightly premature) verbal takedown. But Bree wears her heart on her sleeve when it comes to her patients, and that honesty made her feel real in the best possible way. Dalton, on the other hand, is a man of few words. Ex-military, with a hinted at case of PTSD, softened by his loyal dogs, Max and Rex. But from the moment he meets Bree, he just knows that she’s the one. It could have felt like instalove, but it doesn’t. Instead, it unfolds as a slow, deliberate burn, with Dalton circling cautiously, patiently trying to find the right way to reach her. When an overheard conversation and a burst water pipe finally give him his chance, the story really shines. That anonymous love letter was pure magic. I felt the same fluttery warmth as Bree reading it and watching her puzzle over the mystery, knowing who she HOPES it is, but not daring to trust it, added such a delicious tension. What I loved most was how her relationship with Dalton blossomed alongside the mystery of the letter. In the end, it didn’t matter who wrote it, Dalton was already the one she chose. The fact that he was the author just made it all the sweeter. This is the kind of love story that sneaks up on you—gentle, heartfelt, and deeply satisfying. By the end, you’re left with that warm, aching kind of happiness that only the best romances deliver. Bravo, Mia—this one’s a keeper. Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man is the kind of book that sneaks up on your heart. It starts with chaos, a little embarrassment, and one unforgettable first meeting… and turns into something soft, swoony, and surprisingly meaningful.
Bree is instantly relatable in the best way—accident-prone, a little flustered, and just trying to survive her first day at a new job without completely falling apart. Of course, that plan goes out the window the moment she barges into a locker room and comes face-to-face with Dalton.
Shirtless. Bearded. Completely unforgettable.
Their meet-cute is equal parts hilarious and heart-melting, and from that moment on, you can feel the spark simmering between them—even if neither of them quite knows what to do with it yet.
Dalton is where this story really shines.
He’s not a man of many words out loud… but give him a pen, and suddenly he becomes the most romantic soul imaginable. Instead of rushing or overwhelming Bree, he chooses something quieter. More thoughtful.
He writes to her.
And those letters? They’re everything.
Sweet, sincere, and just vulnerable enough to make your chest ache a little, they create this beautiful slow build of connection—even in a story that carries that delicious instalove energy. Watching Bree react, wonder, and slowly open her heart adds such a fun layer of anticipation.
What makes this story so enjoyable is the balance:
💌 playful, slightly chaotic humor 💌 a grumpy-but-soft mountain man who falls first 💌 a genuinely endearing small-town setting 💌 heartfelt moments wrapped in flirty tension 💌 and just enough spice to keep things exciting
Bree and Dalton feel real in that imperfect, slightly awkward, totally lovable way. Their connection isn’t just about attraction—it’s about being seen, appreciated, and chosen in a way that feels intentional.
And honestly? There’s something extra romantic about a man who doesn’t say much… but means everything he writes.
If you’re looking for a quick, cozy read that will make you smile, laugh, and maybe wish someone would leave you a handwritten love letter… this one absolutely delivers.
Because sometimes the loudest kind of love…
is written one letter at a time. 💌.

Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man by Mia Brody is an utterly charming addition to the Letters in Love series, serving up a delightful blend of humor, heart, and heat. From the get-go, readers are thrown into the hilarious and awkward first meeting between Bree and Dalton—a scene that instantly sets the playful tone of the novel. Bree’s first day at her new job goes off-script when she accidentally walks in on her rugged, shirtless co-worker, Dalton, and can’t seem to shake the image of the flannel-clad mountain man with a deep, rumbly voice.
One thing that makes this book special is the sweet, slow-burn romance that unfolds through a series of heartfelt love letters. Dalton, the gruff yet secretly soft-hearted lumberjack, is smitten with Bree from day one, but he suspects she’s been hurt before and takes his time winning her over. Each letter he pens is a swoon-worthy mix of vulnerability and charm, and watching Bree fall for the man behind the words is both endearing and sweet. The chemistry between them sizzles, and it’s impossible not to root for their happily ever after.
If you’re a fan of small-town rom-coms with lovable, over-the-top heroes and heroines who can hold their own, this book is a must-read. Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man is one of those romances that charms you from the very first page. Bree’s first day on the job is chaotic enough, but barging in on a shirtless mountain man with a voice like gravel and a beard that should be illegal? It’s the perfect meet‑messy moment, and the spark between them is instant.
Dalton is everything I love in a grumpy mountain hero—quiet, rough around the edges, and secretly soft in all the ways that matter. The fact that this big, broody man pours his heart into anonymous love letters is what makes him unforgettable. He falls for Bree immediately, but he’s patient with her, gentle in a way that feels earned, and determined to show her how he feels one thoughtful note at a time.
Bree is a delight. She’s funny, flustered, and trying so hard not to hope that the sweet letters showing up in her life might be from the man she can’t stop thinking about. Her reactions feel real—hopeful, nervous, and a little overwhelmed by how quickly Dalton gets under her skin.
Their chemistry is the perfect mix of sweet and steamy. The letters add this lovely emotional layer, giving the story a softness that balances Dalton’s gruffness beautifully. And when things finally move from words on a page to real‑life heat, it’s everything you want from a small‑town instalove romance.
This novella is fast, fun, and full of heart. If you love protective mountain men, curvy heroines who deserve every bit of devotion they get, and love letters that make you swoon, Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man is an absolute treat.

This short instalove romance had me hooked with the steam, rom-com vibes and likeable main characters of Bree and Dalton. Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man by Mia Brody is the first book in the multi-author Letters in Love series. I really loved this book. The story is well written, very entertaining, funny, sweet, smexy, and a bit quirky. It is about Bree and Dalton. She is a nurse practitioner who studied geriatric medicine because she enjoyed hanging out with seniors. She has moved to Courage County for a job at the Wildflower Retirement Community. He is an ex-Marine who moved to Courage County after he was medically discharged to be close to Bronco and some of the other men he served with. He bought a piece of land and a cabin up on the mountain where he lives with his two service dogs, Max and Rex. He also has a job as the head landscaper at the retirement community. Bree is more than a little clumsy and so things do not start off the way she had expected on her first day at the new job. In the process of everything she also mistakes Dalton for the doctor she will be working with and ends up giving him a piece of her mind. So this is going to get interesting quickly as she thinks he is "climb-him-hot" and he thinks she is "an angry little pixie". Let the fun and passion begin....along with a wonderful story which flows well and characters that you fall for.
*Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man* by Mia Brody is the first book in the multi-author series *Letters in Love*. Bree is definitely my kindred spirit; I completely relate to her accident-prone nature, especially on her first day at the retirement home, when her foot is already in a boot, forcing her to wear her extra pair of scrubs. While in the locker room, she meets Dalton, the hottest mountain man she has ever seen. She mistakenly thinks he’s the doctor, but he’s really just the groundskeeper. I empathize with Bree as she puts her foot in her mouth while Dalton stands there, falling in love with her.
After that encounter and trying to find the best way to talk to Bree, Dalton overhears that she has never received a letter before. What better way to express your feelings than by writing a love letter? So Dalton decides to write a sweet secret-admirer letter to Bree.
Bree and Dalton’s short instalove story is a fun, heartfelt read filled with plenty of spice. It is so easy to read in one sitting, making it the perfect cozy afternoon read. I can’t wait to explore the rest of the *Letters in Love * series by these amazing authors!

Bree and Dalton’s story is a sweet and spicy, he falls first romance. Bree and Dalton both work ant the Wildflower Retirement Community. Even though their first meeting is a bit awkward, Dalton is instantly smitten with Bree and knows he wants to marry her. He wants to get to know her better, but Dalton isn’t much of a talker or a people person. When he discovers Bree and the receptionist, Lauren, have written notes for the seniors they care for, he decides to write an anonymous love note to Bree and leaves it on her desk. Watching her through the window while he is working outside has become his habit of late and sees her joy at receiving the letter. It gives Dalton hope for the future and when they end up working together on a project for the seniors, he begins to woo Bree. Cue the sparks, the heat and the start of spending all their free time together.
I love it when the hero falls first, especially an alpha male like Dalton who is obsessive and possessive from the moment he meets the heroine, Bree. He may be a man of few words, but his letters are swoon worthy. I love that Bree is open to love after her very difficult relationship with her parents, that she is a tad klutzy, and that she finds joy in her work. This delightful novella has my full recommendation.
Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man gave me all the cozy, swoony, soft romance vibes. Bree and Dalton’s meet cute was adorable, and I was hooked from the start. He falls first, he falls hard, and he is all in from the moment he sees her 😮💨
Dalton is that quiet, steady, protective type, and once the secret admirer letters started?? I was done 💌 I mean… we all knew it was him, but watching Bree slowly figure it out had me like GIRL PLEASE 😂
Their backstories added so much depth. Dalton’s past broke my heart, and Bree’s trust issues made so much sense. I loved how patient he was with her, how he reassured her, and how he never made her feel like she was too much.
And the reveal?? Him keeping her letter on him?? “I’ve loved you since I first saw you”??? SIR 😭
Low angst, high swoon, and the sweetest payoff. They get married, and he’s still writing her letters in the epilogue?? I want a Dalton. Immediately.
Also, I’m already invested in Lauren and Bronco 👀
Mia Brody never misses. This was such a cute, feel-good read 💖.

Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man is an utterly charming blend of humor, heart, and heat that had me smiling the whole way through. From the awkwardly hilarious first meeting between Bree and rugged, flannel-clad Dalton to the swoon-worthy slow-burn of secret love letters, this story hits all the right notes. Bree’s holy pecs! moment with her shirtless co-worker sets a playful tone, and the way their connection unfolds — one heartfelt letter at a time — made me root for them nonstop. Dalton may be gruff on the outside, but his deep, rumbly-voiced vulnerability — especially in those handwritten declarations — was both endearing and swoon-worthy. Watching Bree, the lovable spitfire with a big heart (and delightful klutz energy), fall for the thoughtful words of her mountain man was equal parts sweet and steamy. Add in the cozy small-town setting of Courage County for laughs, sparks, and feel-good vibes, and you’ve got a rom-com that feels like a warm literary hug.

This was so sweet! I absolutely adore Mia's stories and this one is no exception. The writing is always solid and the story keeps me entertained, these characters have such great chemistry! Right away I was hooked even before they met. When they did, it was so good. I applauded her, I would have been so embarrassed!
She is there to start her new job and meets him. Sparks fly...
I loved this! Courage county is where it's at! I love this place. So ma NY cozy and warm aspects. The setting, the characters and the side characters that will eventually find their own loves. The sweetness here was enough and then we get furry friends to add until the mix. The why they are with one another is wonderful. It's steamy and I no surprise this curvy lady landed herself a great guy. They both deserved it and I am so pleased at this book. Another winner by Mia, just like I knew it would be!

Finally a curvy heroine with a big heart and the klutz gene. I could so identify with Bree! A nurse practitioner Brew just moved to Courage County to work at the local retirement home. Her first day, still wearing an ankle boot from a recent Oops she ruins her scrubs and meets a gorgeous man in the employer locker room who she thinks is a doctor. Spoiler alert: Nope. The gorgeous mountain man is the retirement home's grounds keeper, Dalton and Dalton just fell instantly in love with Bree.
Dalton is not a big talker so he thinks he will write an anonymous love letter to Brew while he figures out the best way to break the news to her...she is going yo be the mother of his babies!
This is a short, spicy, and completely satisfying read. It is one of those books you will read again and again just to fill your happiness reservoir especially when you get to the HEA. Plus, bonus scene...bless the author's heart. Highly recommend this book and the author.
Mountain Man Romance. Bree is a new nurse at a retirement home in a small mountain town. So he starts sending her letters, not expecting to be jealous when she starts getting close to other men. Will Bree and Dalton have a beautiful love story, or will their past hurts prevent them from finding each other again….

This is your different kind of love letter story. It is touching and it is inspirational to those who do not have family and to those who want a family. She now has a secret admirer and he is determined to make sure that she is felt like she matters and that he sees her. He is a retired military man who served his country but has been on the mountain and his grouchy and grumbly. She is the joy that has come into town and has changed how he wants to approach her and show that he wants to be with her. Being a secret admirer has its advantages and disadvantages. This is a good read enjoyed it very realistic situations about small towns and expressing yourself if not verbally but with the written word. Loved it!.

Dalton is absolutely swoon-worthy in this book. From his instant attraction to Bree, the hand written love notes, and the picnic to get to spend more time with Bree. I found myself sighing when reading how he was watching her through the windows while she was working. The love he has for Bree is something dreams are made of. Loved these characters and their story. The love letters Dalton wrote were so heartfelt and some were on the more private side which would make you want to fan yourself. Put this on a must read list!.

This new book by Mia Brody has all the great S's you could need in a read. It's short, sweet, steamy, and sassy! Bree thinks she's heading to Courage County to start a new job as a nurse practitioner. Dalton thinks it's just another day at his job at a retirement center. Their first interaction sets the tone for a hilarious and steamy story and it delivers. I love the way Mia writes the hunky heros in her books. They know who they love and exactly when and why. As I've always said, I wish Courage County existed in real life!.

A charming love story as Dalton falls for Bree the moment he see her, and he writes her love letters as a secret admirer. He was afraid of rushing her and scarring her off, so he watched her from a distance. Then there was an incident at the old folks home, where they both worked that allowed them both to work close together. Dalton was raised by his loving grandmother, before she passed, and he entered the military. Bree on the other hand was a child of parents that had a child, because it was expected of them. She was raised in boarding schools. She was not close with her family at all.

Ok I am OBSESSED with these two!!!!! I love this trope and these two delivered on the instalove and connection.
Bree is starting over in Courage County and on day 1 of her new job she finds herself in the employee breakroom with a mountain of a man who is changing his clothes. Needless to say she can't her eyes off of him, yet she has been hurt before and immediately puts her walls up.
Dalton worked hard to prove to Bree that she was his forever. He knew he has to take it slow with her. I loved the letters he wrote her and how much he cared for her. They were so cute together!!!
True instant love. Bree has just started a new job at the nursing home and Dalton is a veteran working on the grounds. The attraction is instant but the angst started from the start, with Bree mistaking Dalton from someone else. Dalton is a big teddy bear, romance running through his veins. Bree has never had a true loving family until she started to work at the home. She finds friends, family and then romance. Letters start a to arriving and Bree slowly starts to feel love. Oh these two, a dance, a picnic and a kiss changes these twos lives. This is a great romance, chemistry, steam and finding family.

Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man is just darling with a contemporary cowboy vibe. Dalton, former Marine and all alpha, had held himself apart for many years, so to watch him fall instantly for clumsy nurse Bree is such a satisfying experience. He is the perfect blend of gentleman, protector, caretaker, and filthy freak between the sheets! Bree blossoms beautifully in Courage County, learning to open her heart and trust again after being hurt badly. Her friendship with Lauren is awesome, and I adored how the county came together in the end to support Bree and Dalton’s HEA. Loved it!

This is such a great book! It starts with a major case of mistaken identity and a giant face-plant on the first day of a new job. Poor Bree! Despite all this, Bree finally feels like she is in a place where she can make her home. Dalton has lived in Courage County since his discharge from the military. The first time he sees Bree, he knows without a doubt she's the perfect woman for him. (Even though she thinks he's someone else.) This is a fantastic book with plenty of spice. I'm looking forward to the next book to find out what happens next!

This book is a part of the Letters in Love series and focuses on Dalton and Bree. Bree is a new nurse practitioner at the nursing home in Courage County. She absolutely loves the work she does and the importance of it to her. On her first day of work, she has a run in with Dalton that has her wishing for more. Dalton took one look at Bree and knew that she was the one for him. He was still adjusting to civilian life so he didn’t directly approach her. He instead wrote her letters from the heart and then went after his woman. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Letters from a Lonely Mountain Man by Mia Brody is such a cute, quick read—like the kind you finish in one cozy sitting.
It’s got a grumpy, quiet mountain man + sweet, slightly chaotic heroine setup, but the twist is the love letters, which honestly carry the whole vibe. Dalton is that classic “looks intimidating but is actually soft for her” type, and the way he falls first (and hard) is kind of adorable. The letters add this extra layer of sweetness that makes it feel more romantic than just your typical insta-love story.

📚✨ Letter From a Lonely Mountain Man by Mia Brody ⭐️ 2.5/5 | 🌶️ 1/5
This was a cute novella with an easy romance vibe, but it moved so fast that I kept getting pulled out of the story. Bree and Dalton are instantly into each other, which could’ve worked as instalust, but it escalated into love so quickly that it never really had time to develop or feel grounded.
There were also a few consistency issues that distracted me. Overall, it was enjoyable in a light, cozy way, but more polish and pacing would’ve made a big difference.
Reading mood: distracted, mildly amused, and wishing it had more breathing room
I was fortunate to get an advanced copy of this wonderful book. Mia scores again with her charming Courage Country characters. The characters in this book are charming and well developed and the FMC and alpha military hero flow beautiful together throughout the pages. While the main characters are beautifully written the side characters, some which are in her previous books and some in upcoming books, are engaging and enchanting. The plot is well developed and engulfs you into their world. Mia has yet another sweet, sassy, short and sexy hit with this book!! Tigerlillytn
This book is part of a collaboration series called Letters in Love with authors Evie Rose, Nichole Rose, and Loni Ree. The initial meeting between Bree and Dalton is amusing. Bree is the Nurse Practitioner and a little bit of a klutz which leads to some embarrassing moments. Dalton falls hard and fast writing a secret admirer letter to Bree. Love the banter between Dalton and his buddies. Great main and side characters. Enjoyable read.
