Really good book enjoyed it.
It’s part of 2 book series called Matched and Married and Markered.

won the lottery, got overwhelmed, and somehow ended up married to my emotionally constipated boss.

Winning 2.6 billion dollars was supposed to fix all my problems.
Instead, it turns me into a magnet for attention and favors.

Sweet enough to make you sigh, and clean enough to share with your grandma--no steamy scenes, no salty language, just sweet romance.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy this is my honest review

This story started abruptly to me with Lindsay's lottery win whereas Chapter 2 had a better flow that intrigued about Henry and his father and the description about Lindsay.

Arthur early opinion of "Romance implies volatility, unpredictability, emotional exposure I have no interest in navigating ever again. Partnership implies function. Mutual benefit. Clear terms and containment." (Chapter 2) Whereas Lindsay needs an environment she can read and navigate before the chaos created by her public lottery win but also used to work for Arthur and interact with his son Henry and Arthur liked how Lindsay controlled any chaos in his work life and likes her (Chapter 2)

"Just so you're clear, Mr. Dupree. What you're asking for is going to make it impossible to hide behind professionalism as a shield anymore. You're asking someone to join your life. That will require a lot of emotions and heart from them. And it will require the same from you." - Love Evelyn's caution to Arthur about his expectations.

I feel sorry for Lindsay after the wedding as she has no current purpose whereas Henry and Arthur just go about their lives (work and school) and routines leaving Lindsay in a new place and situation but nothing to fill her time.

I liked how Quinn helps Lindsay navigate her new circumstances within her parametres and Lindsay does the same for Henry.

"I've built my entire life around demonstrating care through action. Provision. Safety. Opportunity. Structure that protects him from chaos. I've given Henry everything I didn't have growing up." (Chapter 18) - Love this insight from Arthur as to how he likes his world and why.

Linsday family - mum and sister seemed like people use to Lindsay being the one to help them out of their difficulties anytime they need it then when they are no longer the focus they manipulate to get their way. Like the podcast Lindsay's mum went on, then did not take responsibility for her words or the sister instantly needing money after the lottery win.

Chapter 30 - was sad for me with Arthur's observing the school fundraiser not joining in with Henry even when he asked, just controlled and isolated, especially after he emotionally withdrawal from Lindsay and she respected his boundaries.

Lindsay's mum is a pessimist not really looking for the good in life whereas Linsday sister seems solid as safe place to land when things went pearshaped. Or what is Linsday's sisters name? as referred as "my sister" in the story

She meets my gaze. “Decide what you want. Then go get it.” - grear advice from Lindsay's sister (Chapter 37).

I am curious about Lindsay's father or Arthurs parents not mentioned.

Also why did Teresa from ERS only interact by text with Arthur asking about him and Lindsay? No text to Linsday? Get both side opinion!?

I loved Quinn and Henry both unashameably themselves adding support, fun to friend and family moments that are heartfelt. Steven is like the supportive uncle.

Wonder if Quinn will get her own story as little insights into who she is like in Chapter 41 - Billionaire's daughter! She would be an interesting love interest to one of Cam's team mates

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and wanted to write my honest, voluntary impression of it after reading it, even though I wasn’t required to do so.

Susie has written a warm romcom that is easy to identify with for everyone except the sudden wealth she receives and how it changes her life and propels her towards a life she never dreamed of.

Lindsay is a savvy assistant to a tech billionaire but her life is turned upside down when she wins a huge amount of money in the lottery!

She is a people person and has enjoyed brief moments with the CEO’s son but with her sudden wealth she tenders her resignation. However, the CEO decides he would like her as a partner to help raise his son and she agrees because of that bond she has with the boy. They get married but it’s devoid of emotion- only what each can do to make this arrangement successful.

Lindsay experiences desires that she’d like this “marriage” to be real but Arthur is aloof and unshakeable. Then his boy disappears but is quickly found but he blames Lindsay so she leaves.

However, with the help of a friend at the household as well as her personal assistant she has hired to help her navigate this new world she finds herself in things eventually smooth over after a few more setbacks and he realizes how much he really wants her in his life- even if she completely shatters his organized world with her spontaneous and chaotic lifestyle!

I really liked this book and wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book as one I know you’ll enjoy as well! Susie’s writing just captivates the reader and draws you in and before you know it you HAVE to find out how it ends!

The pages just fly by because the story is so good! It’s so easy to wonder what you yourself would do if you won such a staggering amount of money as she did by winning the lottery!

Money doesn’t buy happiness but it certainly can complicate one’s life as Lindsay finds out before others help her navigate the challenges she never had to consider before!

Love of a little boy and knowing she has developed feelings for his father she wasn’t suppose to have when she entered into this arranged marriage keep a tension between Lindsay and Arthur until he finally realizes how much she really means to him and his son!

I know you’ll like this book and when you finish it, why not check out Susie’s series on hockey players and the women who help some of these stars on ice find the love they didn’t know they needed!

Lindsey goes from working for a billionaire to becoming a billionaire by winning the lottery. She pays off all her debts, and gives her sister and mom some money, but other than that she has been hiding out. Lindsey never dreamed that life could be so hard when you have mega amounts of money. She highly respected, and admired Arthur the tech billionaire, to whom she was his assistant. Lindsey is a total people person who moves to the beat of her own drum: bedazzled jewels and all.

She didn’t care what people thought, she liked what she liked. CAMIcon is her jam, and she learns that Henry likes it, too. She enjoyed the brief times with Arthur’s son, Henry, but with her sudden wealth, she tendered her resignation. However, Arthur decides he would like her as a partner to help raise his son, and she agrees because of the bond she has with Henry. They get married, but it’s devoid of emotion. It's only what each can do to make their arrangement successful.

Even though Arthur figures in every variable, risk, and security measure, Lindsey is not one to be handled. You start to realize partway through that they each have feelings for one another. However, Arthur was terrified to give his heart away after losing his wife seven years ago. During that time he has, however, given Henry the bare minimum emotionally, high security, the best education, and made sure he was in extra-curricular activities to meet his higher functioning mind.

He tried hard to communicate with him, which somehow came out more like less confrontational than an interrogation or sometimes a command. In fact, when telling Henry that he and Lindsey were married he stated as if it were he who had said he had switched from coffee to tea. When Henry didn't take the union well, I believe because he was left out of the loop. After all, it had always been just he and his father, for the last seven years, then wham! He brings in a wife. Lindsey, however, that is not the point. He did notice that when Lindsey joined their household Henry was more talkative and animated. Something he never seems to be able to extract from him. With her though it’s so natural. I believe he wants to bridge the gap between the three of them, but truly doesn't know how to do it. Drastic times call for drastic measures. And all the close staff members step up to help. A great story, with a great deal of emotional growth that eventually the bond with love and respect.

Lindsay wins the lottery. No, really. 2.6 billion dollars. The first thing she does is get her money. The second thing? She quits her job. Her boss, Arthur, is a little devastated at that, especially as his son, Henry, responds to her better than he responds to Arthur.

Arthur lost his wife seven years earlier, and he’s been single ever since. He’s having trouble relating to his son, and decides on a course of action — ERS, Elite Relationship Solutions. If you’ve read the prior book in this series, you’ll know exactly what that means. If you haven’t read the prior book, don’t worry, all will be explained.

Basically, Arthur wants a partner, as he thinks he can’t give his son everything he needs. When ERS asks if he has someone in mind, he immediately tells them about Lindsay. Meanwhile, Lindsay is finding out that winning the lottery isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and people are coming out of the woodwork for a piece of her new fortune.

So, they enter into a contract and get married, with either of them free to dissolve the marriage and walk away if the situation doesn’t suit them.

Arthur really needs to get out of his head. He thinks that plans and logic and schedules will solve everything, but he doesn’t make time to truly listen to his son. That’s where Lindsay comes in. But things don’t go as either one of them expects. (Do things EVER go like they expect?)

There are some gut-reaction choices that muddy the water a bit, but don’t worry, it’ll all work out. I’m not ashamed to say that this book made me cry more than once, in a good way, of course. I felt deeply for Arthur, Lindsay, and Henry, and when they were hurting, I was hurting right along with them. This is not a complaint. This is what it’s like to feel everything, all the time, with no off-switch.

Bottom line, this is a sweet romance that definitely has situations that ring true, and the climax is everything I hoped. If you love love, love to be loved, and love to read romance, then get this book.

Antecdotal thoughts while reading
I have read many of this author's prior books and have enjoyed them all. The author writes upbeat, easy, sweet novels.
Lindsay FMC
Arthur MMC
Ok, haven't read a book with this type of billionaire yet. Dream??
Lindsay, single with credit card debt and student loan payments
Arthur, workaholic, single dad
Is this book going to tie in to Susie Heart past books? Maybe by city, Firth City, only as it doesn’t appear to have hockey players, maybe not.
Lindsay provides the order Arthur needs in his life.
"I've spent my whole life being the capable one. The person who solves problems, who anticipates needs, who makes things run smoothly."
"Relationship Solutions?" Well, that's a new type of shark in the water...and left with solid advice too... nice.
Ok, now how are they going to match?
Wow Evelyn, you went straight for it!!
Is this a parallel timeline as Matched to the Football Star??? Is that the couple #1 in line???
Is couple #3 Just Pretending with the Hockey Hottie?
"I wonder if she's feeling the same strange hollowness I am - not regret, exactly, but displacement."
Arthur, more words might be needed in this situation for Henry. 🤦‍♀️
"Emotion needs boundaries. Decisions should be made from logic, not impulse. " Guess that applies to matter of Arthur's heart as well. 🫡
Lindsay, bring some sparkle into that crusty, stale mansion monstrosity. ✨️🌟
Quinn I like your spunk already. You will be a great member of Team Lindsay.
Work that dinner conversation Lindsay!!!
"She simply met him where he was. Asked questions that invited him to talk instead of questions designed to assess whether he'd done what was required." Awesome parenting right there folks!
Henry, you are a stand-up young man who stood up for a wrong he saw.
15 minutes of fame??
Oh 💩 Arthur....what crawled up your butt?
You better go get her!
Again, you are a very smart boy Henry.
"Heartbreak is allowed. Wallowing is not."

3⭐️ clean, zero spice romance, billionaire.

This was a strange book. Conceptually. I haven’t read a lottery winning story before. So that was nice to read something new, even though I just didn’t connect with the MCs or the overall plot.

Henry was my favorite character: the 10 year old son of Arthur, the MMC. I felt that his character was well written and had the exact right amount of preteen boy/child/maturity for what his life is like.

Arthur was closed off, methodical to the point of alienating everyone around him and closing off ANY emotion or feeling that couldn’t be cataloged or useful or logical.

90% of this book was inner monologue, introspection and repetitive descriptions of how logical the MCs are.

I felt no chemistry between the MCs and there was time gaps that you just had to jump to without understanding how much time had passed, random school functions that you just follow the characters to without knowing you were heading there. The only other significant event was the comi-con convention.

FMC Lindsay was flat and boring to me. Her relationship with her mother and sister were underdeveloped, but they were written (sometimes) like their opinions mattered to Lindsay - but as the reader, it seemed like she had almost no relationship with them at all. It didn’t make sense.

Where is Arthur’s family? Lindsay’s dad? Any other friends?? Lindsay is written like she is a magnet for people - that her personality creates a safe and happy environment, but she has zero friends. It’s weird. Also the whole ERS thing was odd as well.

I did not particularly enjoy this story. The writing was well edited but the story just wasn’t believable to me. Bummer.

New and Old Billionaires

MC: Lindsay and Arthur, First person dual POV 3.75/5 stars

This was a good story that flows and holds your interest all the way through. After winning a 2.6 billion dollar lottery Lindsay is overwhelmed by all the negative attention that comes with it. Arthur, a widow and single parent for 7 years, realizes that he and his son need something more in their lives.

While the story flowed and the writing is well done, this is definitely more of a tell than show romance. A majority of the book is about them working out their own insecurities which leads up to a big blowup when one incident forces them to address these insecurities. We don’t get to see them together and see the actual relationship, which is a bummer because the tension that could have been there from him liking her even when she worked for him would have been awesome. Finally, there are some details left out that make it feel like something is missing - one glaring example is that her mother and her sister have no Mae they are just sister and mother. Yet everyone else has a name, including Janet the receptionist who works for Arthur and retires in the book. I don’t know it felt like they were important enough for her to be the first people she told she won the lottery but they didn’t get names.

The second story in the ‘Matched’ stories, I spied a sneaky crossover when Arthur and Lindsay sealed the deal.

This follows along with Lindsay, when she won the lottery and startes to find out the negative side of coming into so much money.
She resigns from her job, and is approached by financial planners, old ‘friends’, family and, funnily enough, a matchmaker….
Arthur is widowed, Lindsay’s old boss, and he’s looking for a companion - it read more like a glorified nanny to me, and he indicates that he wants Lindsay…. but not love… see where it’s going?

Yep! We have a match! And the story continues….

Angst - yeah, let’s get married without telling the son he’s getting a new mother…
A damaged relationship - Lindsay and his son, Henry used to get along really well.
She’s afraid to tell her family.
He’s too scared to let anyone in.

I’m not sure where the romance comes in. I mean, Arthur seems pretty controlling, and I’m not really seeing any major interactions that would indicate any change or development of feelings. I see more interaction between Lindsay and Henry and them creating a bond. But Arthur and Lindsay… not so much.

Lindsay and Arthur a couple that you grow to love.

Lindsay works for Arthur who is a Billionaire that likes control, everything in its place, for things to make sense and for nothing to shake it up. Which is what Lindsay does. She is chaos that likes bedazzling everything if she could and large see from space bags. And she has a soft spot for Henry,,Arthur’s son.
Their life is steady until Lindsay wins the lottery so she quits. Which freaks Arthur out, and Lindsay is overwhelmed and her life is no longer hers.

The two end up with a company, for different reasons, to help navigate changes and relationships. It Arthur is looking to date, he wants her. So they get married.

Lindsay is a free spirit that’s smart and funny but doesn’t feel like she belongs in Arthur’s world of the rich..
I didn’t like Arthur at first, he comes across as very stiff, controlled almost robotic. His carefully maintained world is changing and it starts to freak him out. And he needs to decide if Lindsay is worth all the changes that are happening. He does slowly loosen up and starts to seem more human but it takes awhile.

When Lindsay wins the lottery and becomes an instant billionaire, she quits her job and struggles how to cope. With advice from a reputable firm (ERS-Elite Relationship Solutions) that makes matches for a variety of reasons, Lindsay is matched to Arthur Durran, her ex-boss. A marriage of convenience follows. Arthur's son Henry warms to her, but Arthur doesn't seem to know how to do anything but business.

The topic is riveting as we get to understand pitfalls of wealth-especially instant wealth. I especially liked the gentle guidance of the various hired people who steered the couple towards better decisions and a better relationship. The growth of the main characters felt natural, not forced. A gentle romance encompassed in emotions, changes, refusing to change, and honest expectations and feelings. It held my attention and left me feeling glad I read this book!

This was such a cute story and I really enjoyed reading it. It made me giggle and swoon at the same time. It didn’t follow the typical path that marriage of convenience books do and I loved that. The relationship between Lindsay and Arthur may start out stiff and business but Henry, Arthur’s son, warms to her immediately. It’s so endearing to see him accept her into their lives. The development of Lindsay and Arthur’s relationship took such a natural and genuine progression that you couldn’t help but want them to get the love and support they deserve. It was such an honest romance. These two are matched so well and are protected, helping them to navigate their new lives with a sense of stability they both craved. There’s twists and turns but everything comes together in the end, and will leave you feeling like things are right in the world.

This one was a miss for me and I didn’t even finish it.
I actually tried to give this author another chance because I love the potential of the premise like the other book, but it ended up being the same experience and the same rating for me.
There’s no chemistry, no depth, and feels cold. Lindsay and Arthur never connect in a way that feels real or believable, and it honestly feels like I’m missing something while reading.
It feels like parts of the story are missing like we skip over the moments that are supposed to build their relationship so everything comes across rushed and surface-level. I get it’s supposed to be arranged through a management company but it seems off.
I kept waiting for it to click, but it never did, and I ended up DNFing. It had so much potential, but just completely fell flat for me.

You'd be thinking if only I won the lottery all my problems would be over!
Unfortunately that's not the case for Lyndsey she is lost in the struggle to just be.
Then there's Arthur who since the death of his wife Catherine seven years ago has set up boundaries that cushion him from interaction to the detriment of his young son Henry.
Enter ERS (Elite Relationship Solutions) with a plan.
Marriage, it's suppose to be a partnership, a solution for both Arthur and Lyndsey but it's not that cut and dried as both must learn to adapt.
Lovely story that had me rooting not only for the couple but young Henry too.

What happens when a world with structure, order, and boundaries is overtaken by variables, emotions, and the natural course of being a family? A marriage arrangement with necessary changes comes the hard way; some warmth sneaks in until the escalation of emotions, broken rules, and uncertainty make it easier to leave than to stay and try.
Unexpected, shouldn't-laugh-at, sight at the end; come to senses, owning feelings, complete family in the end.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a fun read with a lot of heart and plenty of twists. I can’t even imagine winning such a lot of money! The characters are vividly drawn and I love their character development. My favourite quote is: “Life isn’t something you build alone.”

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Uptight billionaire versus glittery lottery winner. Two mismatched people that actually compensate for one another. A young boy at the heart of the story. Engaging tale of personal growth. Thanks to the author for providing a copy. My review is voluntary.

Arthur was the employer; Lindsay was the employee. Things radically change, and Lindsay no longer has to work for anyone. Now, Arthur and Lindsay's relationship is complicated in all sorts of ways. Sweet romance with ten year old Henry a main character in it all.
