Buried under tragedy on the day everything collapsed, Caleb woke years later with a body that refuses to die… and a heart that refuses to feel. He drifts through the ruins convinced he has nothing to live for. Until she proves him wrong. Catherine was once the girl he loved—and never stopped thinking about. She’s survived her own hell, but she still fights for something better. When she finds Caleb again, she doesn’t let him keep walking. She drags him to Sanctuary, one of the last havens of civilization, where people still believe life can be more than fear. And then there’s Roxy, her partner. Flirtatious. Reckless. Hedonistic. A chaos loving enforcer who treats danger like foreplay and temptation like a game. Needless to say, she’s going to give them both a hell of a time. With Devil’s Nectar resurfacing and war closing in, Caleb faces a choice he never thought he’d have Keep walking alone… Or embrace the passion, loyalty, and dangerous love growing around him. The end of the world was only the beginning.
This book was fairly average for haremlit. It deals with a few touchy subjects, which may disturb or throw off some readers.
The world has gone bonkers due to a tech apocalypse that mutates some humans, who are called "Touched". The MC was a recent high school graduate when it happened, and he was basically killed when the events started, but he doesn't actually die. He can be beheaded, burned or any other method of harm, but he regenerates at a phenomenal rate. You meet him as he gets back up from being beheaded. He's basically OP AF and that makes him a lot less interesting.
There are two LI's introduced in this book, and one of them was his h.s. girlfriend that broke up with him shortly before the world fell apart for no explained reason. I won't give away the ultimate reason why, but it's pretty dark and not a subject that should probably be tackled in haremlit. She's also Touched, as is her roommate. I didn't really like either of the LIs, so that didn't help.
I doubt I'll read a sequel of this unless I've exhausted my TBR pile.
