Love was the last thing that Magic had on her mind when she crossed paths with Cairo. After a failed marriage and the ultimate betrayal by her sister which led to the demise of her relationship, she is focused on raising her ex-husbands daughter, advancing her career, and getting her heart right for herself. She never expects a man like Cairo to step in and change her mind about everything she thought she wanted for her life. Cairo, a strong and successful man with a past of his own, is forced to deal with the childhood trauma of seeing his father murdered by a close relative. When a foe comes back to attempt to destroy him, he must stand in his truth of his past to protect his future. Jasmine is a woman who knows exactly what she wants, but she doesn’t want to get out of her own way in order to get it. Meeting Rico was the very thing to throw a monkey wrench in her plans of living carefree, yet when she gets pregnant, it solidifies his place in her life. What they don’t count on is his other love interest getting pregnant too. Sometimes the very thing you need is the very thing that you don’t want, and sometimes the people who should be in your corner are the very ones gunning to destroy you. The magic of love is powerful enough to make everything right, and it’s strong enough to shield you from your enemies…or is it?
I enjoyed this read. Honesty I think I enjoyed Jasmine and Rico a little bit more than Cairo and Magic. Magic went through a lot starting with her mother. She was wrong for leaving Haven on Magic's doorstep when she told her that she didn't want to raise her. Magic has a beautiful spirit though because she took that baby in and loved her like her own, not too many women could/would do that. I'm glad she finally gave in to Cairo and allowed him to show her what real love really felt like.
This book could of been great because it had an interesting plot but the author failed to tell the story so everything felt rushed. It was as if an outline was made and some bits and pieces were added but important elements were left out that could have enriched the story...it felt incomplete. This was my first read from this author so maybe I need to read some of her other books to see if they are better because this one wasn't it.
"The Magic Of Love" was a cute story, like a Lifetime movie! Magic was a chemist who made makeup for black women (YAY!). She was divorced because her weak husband had a four year affair during their six year marriage WITH HER SISTER and had a two year old daughter as a result of the affair. To make matters worse (as if), her trifling mother (who thankfully, did not raise Magic) condoned this relationship and rubbed it in Magic's face at every opportunity! They say every dog has its day (some of them have two) and there is such a thing as Karma, and let's not forget that this story has a Lifetime movie-esk feel... so sit back and enjoy!
You never disappoint me when you write these books and I love that. I was so happy that Magic would end up being with Cario though and I’m happy that she ended up pregnant and married to him. Magic went through a lot with her ex husband and sister though and her mother was definitely crazy though. I’m glad the Magic and Jasmine had a great relationship though. Rico was a mess though and I’m glad that Jasmine gave him another chance and he got it right this time. I can’t wait to see what you have coming next
This was a really good storyline. The author could have done so much with this plot. I just feel like there were a lot of unanswered questions. Mostly dealing with Magic’s mother. Like why was her dad and mom having lunch together? What was the reason for kidnapping Haven? Did she get jail time? If these questions weren’t going to be addressed, why bring it up. Also her dad was really suspect and uninvolved, considering he raised Magic as a single father. I’m glad Cairo and Magic got their HEA.
This standalone was a really great read. I loved the fact that is was about black men and women who find true loves The tact that the men own businesses and ain't out here selling drugs is great. I felt sorry for magic because her egg donor was something else and her father was wrong to keep entertaining her egg donor because best believe if you mistreat my child you don't ever have to worry about being in their life period. I don't care if you help create them that's a dub. I'm glad she let her guard down and she gave Ciaro a chance
Although the cover called me to read this story, the storyline kept me turning pages. Honor and Q were wrong on many levels, and karma was a bitter beeatch for the way they treated her sister and his wife. Then Magic met Cairo, the man she was meant to have in her life to have her happily ever after plans met. The backstory with Jasmine and Rio added the umph and the little drama. My critic: Some parts of the storyline added fluff, and others more development was needed to flesh out the content. Overall, the tale was pretty good.
I liked this book but Magic seriously got on my nerves. She was successful but borderline stupid. She just had moments where she was being pathetic and still allowing her ex husband to control her feelings. Like how a man sexing your sister for years, have a baby by her, and then after you divorce him, he continues to have a relationship with her, and you say you still love him ? Magic just killed me throughout the book.
I loved this live story. I felt so bad for Magic. Her mama got exactly what she deserved. I knew once I read that Jasmine was messing with Rico he was going to change his ways. I just loved the entire book. Karma definitely came around full force on Desma, Quinton and Honor even Junior. 💙💙💙💙💙⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first time reading a book by this author and it definitely didn't disappoint at all. I love the fact that Magic found her happy ending she definitely deserved it. I also the relationship between Jasmine and Magic. I will be reading more of this author work.
But I truly hate when you get a summary of the action and as it happens. Quincy and Honor were dead wrong and I would have like to be able experience the emotions that Magic went through. What happened to Desma and why did she kidnapped Haven. You walk away with more questions than answers
This was a really good read I enjoyed Magic for going above and beyond for Haven because baby that was a hard situation and I’m beyond happy that she didn’t ruin her chances with Cairo because he is definitely a real man and Jasmine and a Rico ohh man I was worried that she wasn’t ever gone forgive him lol great read
Another great story with relatable characters from Queen There was family drama, betrayal, forgiveness, brotherhood, family love. Seeing the love Magic & Cario and Rico & Jasmine unfolded was great This was an enjoyable read and you felt the magic of love as you immersed yourself in the story Happy reading!
This book goes to a lot of places. It takes you on twist after twist. It can be a bit frustrating at times, and a lot of character development happens off camera so to speak. I would and have recommended it. If you like this book check out Blissful Encounters by J. Ruffin.
This story had me in my feelings from the beginning to the end!! Honor, Q, and Desma were royal pieces of sh*t! I’m glad that love eventually conquered all!! Great, great story!!
This was my first read and I truly enjoyed this story. I Loved Magic and Jasmine’s relationship. I don’t usually like “flash backs” but the ones in this story were appropriately placed and gave what was needed to continue and enjoy the story. Great Read!
I couldn’t stop reading if i wanted to. I absolutely loved this story. Magic got the bad end of things in the beginning but I’m so glad she allowed herself to love again. 5 stars highly recommend 10/10
I throughly enjoyed this book. It was not your average thug finds love book, but it didn’t miss the drama aspect at all. This book held my attention from beginning to end. Desma should have gotten her tail best though. Great job!
I loved reading this story. I especially loved when Magic stepped up and became Heaven’s mom despite the circumstances. In the end she got what she needed from the right person.
I give so many props to Magic. She was thrown a curve ball and she hit it out of the park. Her mother I didn't like her at all. Now Jasmine was a trip I like her she let Rico know you can't play me and think I will stay. Cairo was just what Magic needed
This started off really slow. I usually don’t give books a chance if my attention is not grasped by 30%. It took 54% before it picked up a bit so I went ahead and finished it. It’s been a long time sine I read a book with no sex scenes.
I enjoyed this book from the beginning to end I’m happy Major changed her ways and her troubles with loving another man and got with Cairo they was what each other needed
I loved this book! It was interesting from beginning to end. I think it was Karma what happened to Q the way he did Magic. Glad she was able to find real love. Great Job Author
It was just okay for me. Nothing dramatic or sexy about it. Definitely not adult fiction. This is middle school literature. I was expecting more. Queen Rae writing style is not for me.
Cairo was everything Magic deserved. So glad she took a chance on love with him. Jasmine and Rico were hilarious 😂. Rico was free with that 🍆 until he realized he was about to loss her. Great story👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Cute story. showed broken dynamics, and strong dynamics would like more about them. Love the strength that Cairo possessed, and the loving heart of magic
I really enjoyed this book. I am so glad that Magic and her sister Jasmine found love. I wished Q would have given a reason as to why he did Magic like that. Great read, a must read
