After a series of deadly museum robberies, where cultural treasures of Viking origin are stolen, historian Dr. Nina Gould is intrigued and infuriated. She elicits help from her friend, investigative journalist Sam Cleave, to see if they can discover and expose the culprits. Nina thinks that she may have befriended one of the robbers involved, and so begins the chase to uncover the truth. However, Nina has no idea that in doing so she will discover a secret war waged by ancient societies under the very nose of the modern world.
Involving Sam in her search, the two of them find that the Order of the Black Sun is actively in pursuit of one of Norse Mythology’s greatest legends – Valhalla. Believed to be the prison of an ancient evil which could help the Nazi’s rule the world, Valhalla becomes the focal point of Lita Røderic, a nefarious Aryan villain unmatched in mind or means.
Nina and Sam become involved with The Brotherhood, an ancient order of warriors sworn to protect the secret location of Valhalla. They realize that the relic the robbers sought is a vial containing an elixir of second sight, a precious key to the location of the earthly Hall of the Slain which Nina is entrusted with. However, when Sam inadvertently drinks the elixir, giving him visions of where Valhalla lies, he is thrust into the world of The Brotherhood along with Nina. Now they are locked in a deadly race to find Odin’s Hall before the Nazi’s claim the powerful weapon within and destroy the free world to usher in the Master Race. Will Sam and Nina survive the perilous quest against the terrible Lita Røderic in her pursuit of world domination? Does Valhalla even exist? And if so, what lies inside that would bring about Ragnarok?
With the modern world in ignorant bliss, only The Brotherhood, the relentless knights of the Hammer, can save it from the dreadful fate of ultimate Nazi domination.
The Quest for Valhalla leads the reader on a roller-coaster ride in search of a legend. Packed with breathtaking suspense and nerve-shredding action, The Quest for Valhalla is a thrilling read for all fans of action, suspense, and intrigue.
A word from the author: Hello and thank you for your interest in my book. It has come to my attention that some people have been mistaking my books for those written by the famous author duo Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. This is not the case. I wish to clarify that I am not, by any means, related to Douglas Preston or Lincoln Child, Lee Child or any other author called Preston Child. I hope this clears up the confusion.
Still learning about writing and marketing books. When I'm not writing, I'm usually checking out single malts at The Black Cat, Rose St, Edinburgh. Join me :-)
Holy guacamole does this book have THE most terrible grammatical errors, improper word use and an abrupt ending that suddenly sees a character who was thrown out a fortress window to "the rocks below" in a much earlier chapter suddenly reappear with no explanation right in the last words of the story.
I really agree with an earlier reviewer in several instances. A proofreader/editor is a must for this author (this book was the worst so far), and he really does not like to wrap up a story in a proper story teller fashion. The adventure comes to a conclusion in the second to the last chapter, and the last chapter is supposed to be an epilogue, I guess, but it is far more abbreviated than most epilogues that I have read. It is like...everyone who survived was fine and just waiting for the next adventure...the end. Then, the next books always open up with some things that seem very far removed from where everyone was at the end of the previous story.
Anyway, these are all still very good and highly entertaining. I will keep reading the series. Hopefully, they get better written as they progress.
Heroes once again fight The Black Sun to avoid Raganarok
In this fourth book of the series, Nina and Sam face an evil genetically modified Nazi superhuman in an effort to avoid the classic Norse end of the world. The Black Sun searches for the hidden location of Valhalla. A secret group, known as Odin's Hammers or as the Brotherhood stands guard over Valhalla. The Brotherhood hides it's own secrets as well.
In this story, the action is constant (as it has in the previous novels), the historic references are interesting, but made in passing for the most part. It is another enjoyable good read. RECOMMENDED AS AN ENJOYABLE ADVENTURE!
In book four in this series of The Order of the Black Sun, We join Sam and Nina again. This time they are trying to protecting the serect of Valhalla. They have help in the most unusual help in a biker gang. The women are Valkyries and the men are their protectors. They are protecting a deadly vial that can destroy the world. And of course the Nazis orOrder of teh Black Sun wants it to purify the world. Preston W. Child sure can spin the yarn to pull you in and keep you there. Then when the story is over you are wanting more. I am hoping Sam and Nina gets together soon.
Excellent Excellent O love all the books in w Excellent l love all the books in this series. I have just finished the last book of this series. Excellent, all the books in this series are unbelievably good. They are all about searching for items from long abl, like treasures from Apollo to the sword used by the King of camelot. I would love to be with them or a team like them. Each of the 3 People are really awesome together.

Learn about mythology and the Norse God's with modern characters. Add a strange love or friendship or what ever and some mystery you end up with a good book. P. W. Child does all this a more. Thanks to the author for a pleasant experience.
As usual, I really enjoyed this book, as I have the series. One major flaw at the end where the author miraculously brought back a female warrior that was killed with no explanation to how it occurred.
Nana and Sam work together of who stolen Viking artifacts. They encounter different groups and brotherhoods, the history was good. As well as the adventure and action. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Adventures await in this fourth book of the Black Sun series. A few unanswered questions formed in mind and hopefully the answers will reveal themselves in the next book of the series. Interesting…
Listened to this on tape. Not one of my better ideas I thought this was poorly written. Seriously needs editing. Seriously, don’t plan to listen to anymore in this series.
Nina and Sam continue their adventures with a touch of Nordic Mysticism thrown in for added excitement. They meet some new friends and some new enemies as well. Nina comes very close to dying but is saved at the last minute. Holds your interest through the last page.
Our heroes are once again drawn into stopping the machinations of the Black Sun. This time they have to stop the Black Sun from tracking down the basis for the legend of Valhalla and the possibility of a super weapon.
I really enjoyed this book which was many parts brought to an interesting conclusion. This one was more intricately written than the previous books in this series in my opinion and shows great "author evolution".
Old Norse gods, a human genetically engineered by the Nazis, a motorcycle group guarding the way to Valhalla which is the prison to an evil that could destroy mankind, Valkyries, and our old friends Sam and Nina. Quite a ride and I enjoyed every moment.
This 4th book in the series is one of the best I have read so far! I love the combined history/challenges present in this series. However I particularly enjoy the twists of the Brotherhood! No misogyny here!
Again we are searching for Nazi superhumans but this time we found one. Sometimes the books in this series started slow but always ended grabbing the reader and dragging them into the search.
Another fantastic storyline. Immersive and fun. A novelty take on the Norse mythology and it's God's. Preston Child's power of description are amazing.
