Nic Starr lives in Australia where she tries to squeeze as much into her busy life as possible. Balancing the demands of a corporate career with raising a family and writing can be challenging but she wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told!

When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family–an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters–and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.

On the surface Liam has it all. A great job in Sydney, one that he loves, a degree, friends, a busy social life. Under the surface he is tired and lonely.

A month after his mother has passed he finds himself driving to see an old boyfriend, an old College friend, Joey. Joey and his partner Adam will be familiar to you if you’ve read other Rustic books. Liam wants to see them, wants to find out what makes them so happy in the town by the sea they now live in but most of all he wants to reconnect with friends, find someone he can really talk to rather than be superficial with, and find himself.

What he finds when he reaches his destination is so much more than he had ever expected, could have ever hoped for. Not only does Nic Starr explore the feelings of what would probably be considered depression, along with loss, acceptance and rediscovery but she does it with a very special gentleness and subtle touches of humour, blending everything together to give us a story that holds us, its reader, gently in its pages, just as we hold and treasure it. This one is beautiful, it will stay with me for a long time.

I really enjoyed this book. Set in Australia Liam visits his ex-friend with benefits who has settled down with the love of his life on the north coast. Liam is unsettled and doesn't like his life in Sydney. Russ is Liam's teenage friend and crush so is surprised to find him in his small town. Their HEA is entertaining and not to be missed.

Liam is the perfect example of seemingly having it all but really having nothing real at all. What is life with love, acceptance and closeness? This is a standalone romance for Liam, but it is lovely to experience him finding Russ through Joey and Adam from the previous romance. This was a quiet kind of romance that just wraps around you. So real, heartfelt and fulfilling.
