Crissie is a witch hunter, but she doesn't know it yet. She's just an average teenager living with her Papa. But while she's doing homework and hanging out with her friends, witches are bleeding into reality. They invade her dreams, always searching for something. When Papa reveals the truth of her ancestry and the reason for her parents' disappearance, it's too incredible to believe. But they don't have time for belief. An ancient warlock is waking from his three hundred year spell, and if he comes into his full power again, it'll be the end of humanity. Crissie and her grandfather set off to stop the waking dead only to discover that their reality...their entire world...ends where the Hedgebane begins, and beyond that is witch country.

Fanny Teresa Crispin (aka FanTC) is a YA fantasy fiction author. Books captured her imagination at a young age when her mother used to read to her at night, but it wasn’t until her high school years that she began writing her own stories. Some 20 odd stories later, her friends convinced her to publish, so she began the long journey to putting herself in print. In 2014, she published her first novel CLOCKWORK DREAMS. Since then, she has published SIR IVAN’S TRAIN; DRAGON KING and the sequel WIZARD RING.

4.5 stars for an excellent spell wielding adventure full of dreamscapes, witches, and a lovely young lady to narrate the tale as she discovers her family's involvement in the centuries long war between witch hunters and the magical beings long since forgotten.

Received Clockwork Dreams from a Goodreads Giveaway. I thank the author for the opportunity to enjoy such a rich magical world. Above is my honest and unbiased review.

Mysterious Magical Steampunk

I enjoyed Fan TC's Clockwork Dreams. Her writing style is clean and straightforward, which is perfect for this young adult, steam-punkish tale. At first, I was a little put off by the blend of reality and dreams, how one fades into the other. Once I learned this was a recurring, key element to the story, I just went for the ride. The mysteries the main character, Crissie, must solve and overcome is what really propelled me through this story. I appreciate how this fantasy is not bogged down with elaborate descriptions. Instead, there are enough focused details to paint a picture, so the story can focus more on the mystery and action sequences. Also, I love the take on magic and especially the MC's weapon of choice. This was just the kind of light fantasy I typically enjoy reading.

I really enjoyed this creepy fantasy about dreams. Creative well told, linear story-telling. It was a mix of adventure, horror, maybe a little steam-punk, coming-of age with a dash of romance. I loved the main character so much, a young woman that learns quickly to protect herself and her world. I am very happy to recommend to anyone who loves fantasy.

I'm not much of a reader of witches but this book surprised me. I enjoyed it very much and definitely loved the dream sections. They definitely felt dream-like. I definitely want to keep my eye on this author for new books!
