The Bab, title of Ali Mohammad of Shiraz in Persia founded Babism.
Out Shiism, a 19th-century religious movement, Babism after the Bab, arose, asserted a new revelation, claimed to supersede Islamic law, and demanded extensive social reforms.
Bahaullah, a follower of the Bab, founded the Baha'i in 1863.
The Bab of the religion and two other persons centrally figure of the Bahá'í, the faith.
On 23 May 1844, the Báb announced the imminent appearance of the messenger of God, whom all the peoples of the world await. The Báb, the bearer of an independent revelation from God, declared his purpose to prepare humankind for the coming of that messenger. “The Báb” means “the gate.”
His announcement preceded swift and savage persecution at the hands of the dominant Muslim clergy. People arrested, beat, and imprisoned the Báb and finally on 9 July 1850 executed him in the public square of the city of Tabriz.
During that tumultuous period, twenty thousand followers perished in a series of massacres. Today, the shrine, the majestic building with the golden dome, set amidst beautiful gardens, overlooks the Bay of Haifa, Israel, and entombs the earthly body of the Báb.
In preparation for the bicentenial of the birth of the Bab in 2019 I decided to reread this selction from His Writings, the only one we have in book form for the moment. His Mission was to prepare the way for Him Whom God shall make manifest and that is the predominate theme of this book. One is made aware of the sovereignty of God, that "He created whatsoever He willeth by His Word of command 'Be', and it is..." It ends with the well-known prayer often recited in troubled times: " Is there any Remover of difficulties save God? Say: Praised be God! He is God! All are His servants and all abide by His bidding!"
