Life in the Seaside resort of Walmington-on-Sea on the South Coast of England in the 1940’s during the Second World War as seen through the exploits of a band of men who got together to form the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard in response to a plea from Secretary of State for War Anthony Eden. Six new shorts stories featuring Captain Mainwaring and his platoon of men. Please enjoy.
Shows some imagination and the dialogue is very 'Dad's Army'. However it should have had an extremely thorough editing before being committed to publication. For a start the author doesn't seem to know whether he is writing a short story or a script. The grammar and spelling are appalling at times for example 'says' constantly instead of 'said', 'bye' instead of 'by' and 'site' instead of 'sight'. Could do with a lesson in geography as well, there is an Isle of Sheppey but no 'Isles of Sheppey' and while it's name is derived from Sheep I doubt a Scot would have been herding them there in the early 20th century.
