"Only in dreams had I ever experienced sunlight. The sensation of warmth came from the memories of dreamers; hence, why I knew about its heat."
Dreamweavers centres around Anima who is living in a parallel world. She is a dream harvester, which is central to the survival of the colony she inhabits. Anima wants more from life. Everything is the same; everyone looks the same, but Anima has a spirit of independence that sets her apart and puts her in danger.
This is not my typical genre, but I'm so happy I picked up this book. From the first page, I couldn't put it down and was engrossed with the story. The imagination of this author is phenomenal. CC Ravanera draws you in, providing vivid descriptions of the world she's built, so much so that you feel the emotions of the characters and can see the landscape in your mind's eye.
There are some issues with this book. The pacing of the story drags in some parts and is definitely targeted toward a YA audience. Overall, however, the positives outweigh the flaws, and the engrossing storyline, emotions evoked, imagination of the author, and world she's built deserve a Cranky 5 stars.
In another realm, beings exist who feed on the “lummus” of human dreams. Anima is a harvester, it’s her job to enter the body of dreaming human and collect their energy to bring back to the realm, but unlike her fellow dreamweavers, she feels different, like there is more to their lives than their hive –like existence. Anima wants more, and when she meets a human who can see her in his dreams, the world as she knows it becomes an entangled web that sends her reeling as her emotions come to life and she begins to truly feel what it is to be alive. When she becomes part of a “test group” for her people, she discovers she is different, changing, thinking on her own and uncertain of what is actually being harvested and the cost the humans she takes from. Anima wants to live, love and enjoy the life of a human, but is she ready for what that involves?
Dreamweavers by C.C. Ravanera is a magical journey into the world of dreams, where one harvester discovers she has powers like no one has seen, but will she be accepted or feared by her people? Is a long held prophecy that had become more myth than truth coming to fruition? Anima will come face to face with Death, himself and find he could become her best ally in the chaotic storm that is brewing both inside and all around her.
What an imagination C.C. Ravanera has as she takes one innocent heroine and tosses her headlong into a world with beings that begin to mean too much to her. Anima has spunk, an innocent curiosity and a desire to do the right thing. C.C. Ravanera brings all of her characters to life slowly, shading them carefully into three dimensional beings with distinct personalities while carefully leaving Anima’s people slightly bland and sheeplike. What a contrast to the brilliance Anima takes on! Wonderful storytelling, light reading that still delivers excitement on each page, Dreamweavers has carved out a place for itself on in the fantasy genre. I have to admit, I sing the title when I see it, go ahead, admit it, you are too, now…right?
I received this copy from C.C Ravanera in exchange for my honest review.

This was one of the most interesting and dynamic fantasy/paranormal stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. A world of dreamweavers, the part they play in our human lives, and what they have to go through to be able to do their jobs.
Our main character Anima is one of the most well thought out characters, with an absolute knowledge of what she is to do in her life, to being tasked with an honour she quickly becomes unsure of, with even more self-doubt arising at every turn. We watch Anima fight for her Realm, for her fellow dreamweavers, and for herself.
This book is a must read for anyone that loves reading of other worlds interwoven with our own.
I absolutely loved this book!!! I'm saying what it's about because I don't want to spoil it for anybody. Plus I was lucky enough to get a arc copy. When it's out. Please one click it!!! It's so worth it. If I could give it more then 5 stars I would!!! I would have to say I don't have a favorite part because I loved the whole book. Couldn't stop reading it. Hope this review helps people. And has u guys buy this book. Cause it is amazing book. And awesome writing.
This genre is not my regular but I'm so happy that I got to read it. From page one I couldn't put it down. The imagination of this author absolutely floored me. The way she writes pulls you into the story and feel the emotions and see the landscape. I will be recommending this book to all my friends and am looking forward to more great works in the future.
Anxiously awaiting the next book! This story has a very intriguing plot, & CC knows how to keep you guessing. I finished the book, & I am still pondering over some of it! There's a little bit of it all in here. Just a touch of sadness, a bit of happiness, love, & there is definitely mystery & suspense. I have a feeling CC Ravanera is going to be added to my list of top favorite authors.
Awesome read!!! Your taken to another realm, and you're not sure if it's heaven or hell!! Anima is a Dreamweaver, an entity that enters a human and helps them to dream. And, she is bored stiff. She has been doing the same thing day in and day out for what seems like forever. Her partner, Dmitri, is her pilot when she goes on her missions to help humans dream and to collect lummus, the light from pleasant dreams. This lummus is taken to the supervisor who adds it to the store of accumulated lummus. Then once a day everyone is given their ration. It is what the beings in this world live on. It restores their energy. Anima has heard stories of an exalted being who will one day appear and save their realm. However, this sounds incredulous, since what do they need to be saved from?
This is an incredible story of a parallel realm that will soon go to war. Who will they war against? Are these fantastic beings angels? And what is the story of Anima having a mother? death, how does Death come into play, and can he be considered a "friend'?
Incredibly imaginative! I couldn't put it down. I received this in exchange of an honest review, 5 Stars! I can't wait until the next book comes out!!
They work in pairs. One harvester (female) and one pilot (male). Together, they bring lumus back to their world. Anima is bored with her life and wants to learn more about the world. When she and her pilot, Dimitri are chosen with other teams by the elders for specific tests, Anima isn't sure what to believe. Strange things start happening to her. She's not like the other harvesters and each test by the elders reinforces the thought. It seems each test Anima's given takes her deeper and deeper into trouble, at least in her mind. Only Dimitri believes she can conquer each one. Now able to cross into the human world at will, Anima feels it's the only place she's safe. She wonders if she'll ever see her friends again.
This book brings you inside a little at a time. You don't even realize you're hooked until you close the finished book. I was swept away by a world of imagination. It held me captive by getting deeper and deeper into Anima's life. I felt her emotions and couldn't wait to see what happened next. You'll love how simple and devoted these beings are. This paranormal read is well worth the time. I suggest you keep an eye on this author, she's going to be a bestseller in no time.
I didn't find any issues.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it's a beautiful story and told with great finesse. ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~
I'm not normally a paranormal type reader. I mean, I've read Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, and similar types, but nothing quite like Dreamweavers. It's full of imagination. I loved the alternate world C.C. Ravanera created. I loved her characters; she has many, each with their own depth and dynamic, and she weaves them so well throughout the story. Anima cracks me up as she discovers herself, her abilities, and the differences between her world and the human world. Dimitri is a good friend, who stands by Anima, and sees to her safety and well-being. Zepar, I loved him. He's the Sentry Leader. And I love the way he sees Anima and how he interacts with her. How he tests her. I haven't decided if his interest is fully romantic, but there is potential for it. Then there's Azrael. He's a Death Angel. I. LOVE. HIM. I love how he doesn't hold Anima's hand. He allows her to stumble and fall, and yet he seems to do what he can to protect her as well. I'm anxious to see where C.C. takes their relationship and the rest of this story. Good Job, Anima!! This is wonderful storytelling. I loved it.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Anima is a Dreamweaver who harvested the dreams of humans, Dmitri is a pilot who opens the portal in the Realm for the harvester to enter the world to collect Lumus, energy harvested from humans in exchange for dreams. Anima began feeling different from everyone, as if her life was lacking something. Dmitri and Anima were chosen for an elite group. Causeing life for Anima get a whole lot more exciting. Harvesting became a challenge as well as enlightening. In the process she meets Azrael, who makes her question everything. With things going out of control Anima must survive in a world completely foreign to her. You will not be able to put this book down nor will you want it to end. New favorite read.
Just want to say: Hope you enjoy reading about Anima and fall in love with her as much as I have. She's a part of my life now and I am as excited as you to find out where the story will take us, for this is as much as Anima's journey as mine. She leads me into all the twists and turns of her amazing life every time I delve into her story. I wish I will do her justice.
This is not like any story I've read in several years. The world building is unique and so imaginative. The characters are ever evolving and the mystery of their lives and journey crafted in such a way that reminds me why I love paranormal reads so much. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy fantastic paranormal reads.
Unexpectedly brilliant! I loved it! I finished the book in one sitting. Dreamweavers is interesting, unique, the different kind of emotions and anticipation will sucked you up until the very last page. I really don't know what I'm going to write here without giving away a spoiler but believe me when I say :This is a must read!
Good book. My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book to come out to get more of this story because the story didn't end with this book! I do not like waiting!
This is not my normal genre, but I picked it up because I heard good things about it. It’s a beautiful story and creative. The author has a vivid imagination and the ability to develop likable characters, even the Angel of Death.
Anima, the main female lead, is a Dreamweaver. She harvests the dreams of humans, using the energy to sustain her people who live in the paranormal realm. Through contact with people, something begins to change in Anima. She longs for more and questions she’s never considered begin to filter into her mind.
Curiosity sets her apart and when the opportunity to join an elite team of Dreamweavers is offered, Anima grabs the chance with both hands. What occurs, however, is like the old adage: be careful what you wish for. Anima’s personal dream of wanting more and becoming more comes to fruition.
What unfolds is an unknown destiny and new knowledge that can shake the foundations of her and our human world.
This story is filled with likable characters. The author’s dry wit and humour is on display, too. Anima is one of those characters who lives long in the memory - even at times when she should have come with a hazard warning.
Some of the secondary characters in this story are my favourites and I long to know what will happen to them. Hopefully, it won’t be meeting my personal favourite: Azrael, the Angel of Death.
Speaking of Azz, he is a great inclusion into the mix. He’s mysterious, ambiguous, and has enough heat with Anima to make me smirk every time he blazed onto the page.
I have to say, this book is a bit of a slow burn. It starts slowly, revealing layers and building to climactic parts. To be fair, however, the author is building a very intricate world, which takes some explaining.
This story is vivid, creative, and unique. Recommended to all paranormal and fantasy fans, and also, to Young Adults.
It's not too often that I can say a book genuinely surprised me, but this one really did! I thought I had a semi-solid idea of where things were heading, but I was way off. I had never even considered it. And let me tell you, it was a way cool twist. Sorry about the general vagueness here, but I wouldn't dream of giving anything away, and it just needed to be said how pleasantly surprised I was with the direction the story took.
Now it must also be said that, I felt like, it took awhile to actually get into the story. It started off rather slow, just some hushed whispers of bigger things potentially happening. Lots of getting to know the Dreamweaver people and the what they do, which totally made sense and all but it wasn't initially grabbing my attention. The Dreamweavers also seemed to be kind of detached emotionally for the most part, which in turn took me longer to actually get invested in the characters. It was so crazy though because one minute I'm dragging along and then... BAM! The story just took off. So many things were happening. I was actually growing attached to these characters, especially Anima who was thawing out and coming to life. I mean all of the sudden I was 110% invested in everything. I couldn't put the book down. This was not what I was expecting at all in the very best way! The world was suddenly getting larger and more intriguing, new mysterious characters were being introduced, and everything I thought I knew was shattered, but built back up richer and more enchanting than ever. I think the author took some bold chances with certain things and it really paid off in a big way.
There didn't really appear to be a romance going on, but there were a few potentials for sure. Which I appreciated. It was nice not to be thrown into insta-love or any love triangles for once. I like that we are getting a chance to really get to know these characters before Anima is pairing up with anyone. So far I'm really digging Azrael! He's dark, mysterious, and seems to know more about what is going on and how to help Anima than anyone else. We really didn't get to see or learn too much about him in this book, but I think that will (HOPEFULLY!) change in the next book. Quite honestly I found almost all the side characters to be interesting as well. I really got the feeling that we have only grazed the surface of most of them and there will be a lot more to them in the future, which is exciting!
So I say if you're in the mood for a new urban fantasy give this one a try! Now I just need to go find out when I can get my hands on book 2!
Dreamweavers by C.C. Ravanera Purchased: Kindle - $2.99 [Gifted from Author for Review] My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars
Spoilers!
What's it all about? For Anima and her other dreamweavers, their lives have seemed to have gotten more complicated. As the supply for Lumus becomes scarce, and the deaths of fellow dreamweavers and pilots become more evident, something needs to happen. When the Elders of the Realm take action no one knows what is in store for them, just that it will be a first. With these changes Anima starts to see changes in herself, and starts to question her way of life. Will Anima act upon these thoughts, or submit to the lifestyle that she was “born” into?
The Best Parts: I absolutely loved the plot line to the book. It was entertaining, and heart breaking all at the same time. I felt invested into this book once I fully got into it. I was barely able to put it down, and my heart ached just t as much as Anima’s did for every loss and gain she had in life. As much as there was different elements to the story, I liked that we were almost as clueless as Anima, because it allowed us to learn and feel disoriented with the character. I must say that the men in this novel we perfection. They all added to Anima, rather than making her seem like a flake. They each gave her something, even when they asked for nothing in return.
The Worst Parts: I found it a little difficult to get into the book, it seemed like there was so much time spent on explaining, that it took a little bit to actually get into the story line. I also found that Anima as a character was very dynamic, but seemed to change on a constant basis depending on who she was with. I think this changed the feel a lot for the book, but it also allowed for the reader to fully indulge in her high hormones. I also felt like there was a lot of different elements to this book that seemed to be thrown around every where, but in the end they all came together to create a great book.
Final thoughts: This book would be great for age ranges from middle school to high school. It was fun and entertaining, and definitely something new amongst the young adult books out there. Book two will definitely be on my to read list!
This gripping first book to the series has all the fantasy elements and the makings of a great series. When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure whether it was a sci-fi book or more fantasy, it also isn't clear if it is adult romance or YA thus far. The story follows the life of Anima a dreamweavers who visits the human world to collect energy from sleeping humans via their dreams. She is picked for elite training and soon learns that not everything is as it seems. She meets many characters along her rollercoaster story that has so many twists and turns you barely have chance to catch your breath. The author keeps you in the same level of confusion as the main character and I genuinely don't know the answers to many of the questions raised (I read a lot and usually have an inkling at least but nope) Well written this books submerges the reader into a completely new world with new rules and very few people you can trust. When you find out your whole life may be based on a lie where do you go to find the truth. Definitely worth a read and I can't wait till the next instalment of the story
I was immediately pulled into the world of the realm and into Anima's life. Ravanera beautifully constructed an entire world that I could not get enough of! The beautiful dream weavers, the mysterious queen, the handsome and well built sentry and the elders. Pilots and harvesters, the entire world entranced me and I found myself flipping through the pages as quickly as I could read them! There were so many twists, turns and surprises which I enjoyed, I never quite knew what was going to happen next!
I NEED THE SECOND BOOK NOW!!! If the story wasn't so magnificent I would be really ticked about the cliffhanger! Buy this book! It is fantasy, paranormal, romance, action....you name it, Dreamweavers has it! The way Ravanera emoted her characters so well is amazing! This book makes you feel right along with the characters! An amazing journey I wish had never ended Dreamweavers is a book I will be thinking about for a long time to come!
DREAMWEAVERS by C.C. Ravanera Anima is a dreamweaver and together with her partner Dimitri who is her Pilot they fulfill asignments where Anima bonds with a sleeping human and "helps" them to weave a dream from their memories and in return receive Lumus (energy) which is then returned to the Realm and used to "feed" the inhabitants of the realm. A benevolent helpful, symbiotic relationship, right?.......... or is there more afoot than meets the eye? There is not much that I can say about this book without spoiling an excellent read for you. Suffice it to say that Ms Ravanera succeeded in whisking me away into her carefully wrought world of fantasy. There are twists and turns in this book that I had not expected and I am anxiously awaiting book 2 in order to see what adventure......or should I say misadventure further awaits Anima and her watchdog Death! I rate this book at 5 stars
Anima was interesting to me, I really liked her character, "I couldn't understand the male. One minute he'd been intent on killing me, then the next he'd told me he liked me - or my new face anyway. What is up with that?" I'm really shipping Azz and her I'm really hoping in the next book something happens because I loved that boy, something sparkled in his eyes, which he quickly masked with feigned impatience. "Now darling, put them away. I know I'm marvelous, but, girls don't usually throw their clothes off in front of me. Not before a cup of coffee at least." Frowning, I looked down at myself and found I was completely naked!" I can't wait to see what book two brings hopefully some romance between Azz and Anima.
An intriguing story that stays with you long after the last page
The beginning of this book is not at all where the ending finished up. It was totally unexpected and I absolutely loved it! If you are a fan of the Winchester boys, Dreamweavers is definitely for you. Anima is sweet and like-able albeit a little too naïve, but that goes towards the world building and is nicely handled. The male characters a very diverse and can I just say, Zepar and Azz, swoon! I am greatly anticipating the release of Soul Eaters, I can’t wait!
I'm terrible at writing reviews, but I had to share. I loved this book. CC Ravanera's world building is fantastic. I was sucked into the world of dreamweavers from page one. Anima, a harverster of dreams who longs for something more, finds the world is very different from the one she thought she knew. Her journey and discoveries had me on the edge of my seat one moment and chuckling the next. Anima is a strong, female protagonist who is fiercely loyal to her loved ones. I can't wait to see where her journey takes her next.
It's definitely something more! The parallel words that CC Ravanera created in Dreamweavers will definitely suck you in. I was hooked! Action packed and a wild ride... so prepare yourself! Anima is a heroine you will find yourself cheering for and well Dimitri, I loved him but I found myself head over heels for Zepar! I can't wait to see how all of this play out! Awesome debut! A Must Read! Five out of this world stars! *****
I don't usually read books in this genre, but I'm so glad I read this one! Very, very GOOD!! The characters are like my friends now and I can feel their pain and joy! I can't wait to read the next one!!
I had no idea what to expect with this book, but I am pleased with what I got. Dreamweavers is amazing! It hooked me from the beginning. I can't wait to see what happens next!
C.C Ravanera - As weird as this may sound, I would love to be in her head for just one day.
This story was so creative and different than anything I have ever read before. I LOVED Anima. The male characters were strong, courageous. DID I MENTION HOT? Yeah they were HOT! I read this book all in one day. It gained my attention right from the start. It was fast-paced. I never knew what to expect from whom. One thing about this story is that it's so unique. I mean the girl can get into our freaking dreams!! CC did a fantastic job, because I felt like I was right there seeing everything through Animas eyes.
One thing I wanted to see more of was the love-story aspect, because you know I'm a sucker for romance. I wanted to know which guy owned her heart. Maybe I'll find out in the second novel. My vote is for Zepar, I think. Maybe Azrael ;)
I love paranormal. If you're looking for something completely different, this is the read for you! I promise no matter what genre you tend to read, you'll enjoy this one!
What did I read?! It was fabulous!! CC Ravanera wove a world of awesomeness!
Anima is a dreamweaver. She inserts herself into the dreams of humans and makes their dreamscapes beautiful and real. Along with her pilot Dimitri they learn to become a new level of weaver. Anima starts to feel different than the weavers. She starts to develop new powers and attachments. My heart is attached to Michael!! Along the way her guide becomes Death himself. Together they set off on a journey of discovery.
This book had me addicted from the first word. Minor spelling issues but all in all it was an amazing world. If you love paranormal worlds this is an excellent book. Can't wait to see what Ms Ravanera has in store for other books!!!
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. This novel by C.C. Ravanera is full of surprises. The book is about a young woman,Anima, a dreamweaver or harvester of human's dreams. The author takes the reader on a journey of fantasy filled with action and intrigue. You will meet the angel of death, Azrael, and the human Michael, characters that bring the story to fulfillment. I would have given this book a 5* if it wasn't for the fact, there is a part of the book that did get a bit confusing but overall this is an amazing story, well written and great character depiction. I would highly recommend this book.
