Story 3.5 stars. Narration 5 stars
This was the third and final book in this series about a coven of three sisters that live on a secluded cove on an island on Lake Huron. Think Mackinaw Island as a comparison-also one of my favorite vacation places ever. There’s two series written here-the other one about three best friend witches. Both series were fun rom-coms. Now the two covens are friends despite the distance across the island from each other. They’ve all found their significant others except Perry and with this book she begins a relationship with James that we’ve seen coming throughout the books.
The book was full of ghosts, sea creatures and even a baby sea monster that hatched in a previous book. The sisters are fae water witches and were tasked with protecting the baby even before they were born. Outside factions are wanting to steal the creature. It makes for lots of action and underwater adventures.
The reasons I couldn’t give this a higher rating was one main thing. There was so many characters that show up from both series-both alive and dead-that I couldn’t keep up with who was who at times. Other characters new to the series just added to my confusion. Had I been reading rather than listening it might have been easier. As it was, I just kept listening completely in the dark at times especially during extreme action parts. So for me I couldn’t rate it higher.
Narration by Amanda Ronconi and Teddy Hamilton was exemplary as usual. An easy 5 stars for me.

GENERATION HEX is everything I love about Molly Harper's stories. The snark, the heat, the ridiculous situations that everyone knows are ridiculous but accepts as normal, the relationships - it has it all. Perry finally gets her chance in the spotlight, and I was more than ready for her to do so.
Oldest daughters unite! Perry is everything you ever read about the oldest siblings who happen to be daughters. Definitely the best of the Moonshadow Cove trilogy and I was sorry to see it end but I hope on how it ended means a new series in the future that features these characters on Starfall Point along with a cast of new ones.
Summary (spoiler free): The Seaworth's have survived another faceoff with the rival fae finfolk family the Sand Shears. But it's not over with now another group being involved in trying to infiltrate Moonshadow Manse and its cove. That just being the Red Jasper society and James just happens to still be a member of that society that should be dedicated to monitoring witches for their safety and not trying to steal their magic for their own. Peri and James have not always gotten along but James has now helped protect them against one of the Red Jasper members and is starting to have feelings for Peri and vice versa. With the threat still ongoing Peri's sisters Cora and Linney move back to the cove with their signficant others Grey and Iggy to help Peri. The Sand Shears are still after the future sea kelpies egg and won't be happy once they find out she has already hatched into an infant kelpie that they named Shortbread. Dangers are at every turn with another Red Jasper member on the island sniffing around Shadow House and wanting to investigate the warded Cove and more is revealed about James. Will all this help the two's relationship survive?

Generation Hex is the third and final tale in the Moonshadow Cove series. This time around the story focuses on eldest sister, Perry, and the Red Jasperian James. With both sisters finding love and moving outside the cove, ghost containment and young kelpie duties fall to Perry. With the Jasperian Underground and the rival Sandshear finfolk arriving on the island, Moonshadow Cove is getting harder and harder to protect.
Since the start of the series, James and Perry have shared a spark of attraction, but as their Jasperian overseer, James was a bit of a pain for the Seaworth sisters. However, in the previous book, James realized that the work the sisters do to protect the cove’s residents is worth keeping secret, and that the Underground, a rogue group of Jasperians, is a threat to the supernatural witches of Starfall Point.
The Moonshadow Cove series, which is a spinoff from the Starfall Point series, is filled with fun adventures and sweet romances. James and Perry start as enemies, but end up giving in to their mutual attraction. While there is some back and forth about whether or not they can become more than a fling (due to his job and her being a witch), there is very little conflict.
Generation Hex also wraps up the series-long story arc regarding the kelpie princess Shortbread and the rival Sandshear family in a satisfactory manner. The overall tone is light and fun, even a bit silly at times.
Narration: Other than the prologue, the story is shared via the alternating third person POVs of Perry and James. Hamilton voices James’ POVs. His voice is pleasantly deep and fitting. He adjusts for gender. Ronconi brings her usual, upbeat enthusiasm to the role of Perry. She also adjusts appropriately for gender, accent, and age. Both narrators don’t make a huge distinction between characters of the same gender, but their performances are entertaining.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed spending time in Moonshadow Cove and would love more tales from Starfall Point.

Fun as most Molly Harper titles are. This makes a nice cap for the Moonshadow Cove series. The crossover with the Starfall Point witch series was good, as was the epilogue.
The only criticism, if there has to be one, is that the title, as punny as it is... and I do love my puns, has no relation to the content of the book at all.

I lowkey wanna cry thinking that this is the last book of the series. But I gotto give it to the author, she did the sisters justice and this series is worth every second you spend with it!

I absolutely love this series! I enjoyed all of the Seaworth sisters books and hearing about their adventures in the cove, but this one might be my favorite. The oldest sister, Perry has always been responsible for taking care of the family, the Cove, and all of the ghosts that reside there. And in this book, she finally finds her happily ever after and feels at peace. Throw in a baby kelpie and her interesting companion and you have a magical story.

This was a bit of a disappointing ending to the Moonshadow Cove series. Clearly some people like it more than I did, but for me, there were far too many scenes featuring epic battles underwater and elsewhere, and far too little character development and interactions.
Everything did get wrapped up nicely, with the evil forces being contained for the most part, and each of the sisters in the trilogy getting their HEA. We also got to revisit the characters in the witches coven in town (who I like more than the Moonshadow group). Going into this, Perry was my least favorite of the sisters, and she remains so.

A very sweet end to a series I'm sad to see go. This series is about the seaworth sisters who are fighting to keep there home while learning about their family history.
I went with 3 stars because of the ending of the book while it was supposed to wrap up the series in a bow it left me with more questions. Then there is shortbread... kinda ruined the character for me.

I’m really sad that this series is coming to an end. It has been such a fun journey getting to know these characters, and I’ve loved following their stories. This book was every bit as enjoyable as the previous installments, with the same charm, excitement, and heart that made me fall in love with the series in the first place. I’m going to miss spending time with these characters, but I’m grateful for such a satisfying addition to the series.

A bit disappointed in this book as the last one in the series it felt the same as the first two books. We saw the main characters in the first two books and they didn't really develop much beyond surface level and after the build up in the background of the other books the romance was a let down. It was nice that we got a happy ending for the sisters and to finally have a solution/finale to the overall story, but it felt drawn out, very predictable and repetitive.

The problem with having a favourite prolific author is that you have certain expectations of their books and it’s hard to tell when you don’t enjoy a book as much as expected whether it’s because it’s not quite your style or if it genuinely isn’t as good as other books.
It’s ok I guess, although I struggled to remember the details from previous books. Will give the series another go in a couple of years and see if reading all the books together makes a difference.

I def pre-ordered this little number. I love this world and this series. Adorbs.
We continue with Perry and her sisters. This time, Perry and James take center stage. Perry has shouldered the responsibility of head of her family and protecting Starfall Island. James is an agent from the Red Jasper Society. He is tasked to watch over and "police" the witches on Starfall Island. Make sure everything is up to code, etc. Things reach a pinnacle with their enemies. It will take everything Perry, James, and their allies have to protect everything they love. And maybe, just maybe, Perry and James will look past their disagreements and see the love they have for each other.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww this can't be it. There has to be more in this world, and with our witches! This was a spin-off, and I want another spin-off. Maybe another island and/or another coven? The ending sure did give us hope that there will be more. EEEEE!

I know a 4 rating is high but I just love this cute and maybe 1.5 peppers of spice in it. I really hope there is more in the series because the epilogue leaves a tiny cliff hanger...very tiny :)

I have been eagerly gobbling up all the books that take place on this wonderful island and am so sad to see another one come to an end. This book was a long time coming - what with how Perry and James were sniping at each other from the start. While usually I don’t love the enemies to lovers trope, this one was worth it.

Instead of sneaking out or being rebellious, Perry is the one who wrangles all the other sibling, and ghosts, and now sea monsters. The wrench in this plan is James - the Red Jasper society rep that was assigned to watch over them. At first, he’s a know-it-all non-magical annoyance but he somehow worms his way into Perry’s heart. It’s obvious that these two are meant to be together, but it’s was still a wonderful ride.
James goes on a rollercoaster of his own sort, changing from the uptight guy who is trying to prove he’s worth something to his family into the guy who can talk to sea monsters and ghosts, even stepping up to defend the witches he was tasked with surveilling. This audio was narrated by two of my favorites, Amanda Ronconi and Teddy Hamilton. And Molly Harper writes the best cozy witchy romances! This series follows three sisters who live apart from their nearest island and ward their home with spells so that people can never find their way back to their island. Just like their parents and the parents before them. Their job as they knew it originally was to trap ghosts from the island to keep islanders safe and keeping the trapped ghosts in their cove. Until one day they found out their family was protecting the egg of Susan the Queen of Ness (the Loch Ness). The egg hatches and craziness ensues. In this installation the oldest sister is trying to find her place in the world. Her sisters are now both in happy relationships and they live on the island away from “home”. But the ghosts are escaping, they’re running out of ghost storage space,and people won’t stop coming for Shortie the baby Loch Ness kelpie. Not to mention she and her sisters haven’t been able to access the biggest part of their ancestral underwater city because her magic is being held back by something. AND the witch police won’t leave her family alone but at least he’s cute. And is starting to become reasonable.

While I wasn’t expecting to take this long with a Molly Harper book, I have to say it was only because I wasn’t really enjoying this as much in the first half of the story yet it was still enjoyable in aspects like it’s comedy, the other characters that were stars in previous books and even the crossover of characters from the last Starfall series.
For me, this was a lot slower in comparison to other books in this series and felt like it focused more on the world/conflict rather than having a more balanced story/relationship ratio. I even found myself thinking “you only have three chapters before an Epilogue, how are you gonna have a happy ending?” at points towards the end of the book.
But like other Molly Harper books I knew that it would all wrap up nicely somehow, and I have to say the end of the book and this series in general is crafted well, despite random families popping up out of nowhere to help.
The characters are all enjoyable in their own way despite my not really believing things might not play out well for the main two, Perry and James. And I’m happy I’ve seen this series through.

Molly Harper killing it again. Seriously I am a die hard Molly Harper girlie.
so back story, back in the wee old baby ages of the internet and in my early 20's I was trying to figure out how to be an author (dudes I am still trying to do this at 40, so let's just say it's a long journey). But I was following Molly Harper's agents blog. And she was promoting her firsts book.
I signed it out of the library and read it. And i was a little underwhelmed. I guess I was hoping for something that blew my socks off.
but as I get older, you know what, her agent is freaking brilliant for seeing the potential in Harper. This is now an author I go to for a fun romp, with paranormal elements. Even her contemporary books are a fun ride.
writing fun books is no easy feat. seriously. I can't believe younger me was so gosh darn judgy. that girl needs to release how impressing it is to write a fun romp that is easy to read, and creating a brand this big that people keep coming back for over and over. her agent, had a crystal ball and saw the future. Molly is a genius.

This one brings things to a close in the cove, or so it seems. Perry and James, along with her sisters and their men end up at the cove where things come to a head. The "bad" witches coming for them and what they lost, the entity that is supposed to watch over the witches coming for them too. It's interesting all that came out and how things were resolved. I especially liked that Perry found some long lost family, that will hopefully stick around, allowing them to get to know each other better. I also like how the baby sea dragon has a mind of her own and is making plans that fit her, instead of doing what her mother wants.

Another cute and enjoyable visit to Moonshadow Cove! I’ve really grown attached to this world and its cast of magical characters. This book was a fun read from start to finish, but what pushed it from a 3-star to a 4-star read for me was the BIG reveal near the end. I definitely didn’t see it coming, and it added an extra layer to the story that I really enjoyed.
I also appreciated that the book wrapped up the story nicely without ending on a cliffhanger. That said, the little hint in the epilogue has me hoping there are more adventures in Moonshadow Cove to come. I’d happily return to this world again!

This was a great conclusion to the Moonshadow Cove series (which was a GREAT continuation of the Starfall Point series), but I really hope it's not the end of this story. Molly Harper is a masterful world-builder, and this is a fantastic one. Generation Hex is the story of the eldest of three sea witches fighting a mystery big bad with her sisters while navigating a complicated relationship with their magical caseworker, as it were. Funny banter, epic battles, and a bevvy of interesting ghosts and mythical creatures made for a really epic ride.
There were a couple of intentional loose ends in the epilogue that I'm HOPING mean we'll hear more about this motley crew in the future.

I would rate this a 4.25/5 stars.
My main reasoning is because the relationship portion of this book was half baked. There was very little growth here. The author relied heavily on the first two books of this series to inform the readers. Everything sort of "falls into place" in the first hour of the book. The rest is dedicated to the larger story. If just feel like this was not her strongest book. The way the each relationship comes together is the main reason that these books are such a big lure. I was disappointed with that part in this book.

A brilliant conclusion to the Moonshadow Cove trilogy.
We finally get Peri and James, after always getting to the prologue through their POV's.
Peri and James have not always gotten along well. When the Sandshears attack Peri and James steps in to help her, she is forced to take him to the Cove to keep him safe. Peri's sister and their significant others return to help with the infant kelpie, Shortbread, and protect her from the approaching dangers.
I really enjoyed this series, it was cozy and sweet.
Best part for me was the Epilogue by Nicodemus.

Ya I’m giving this book 5 stars ⭐️ because this was a great ending to the series! Was it perfect? No.. but it felt like a warm hug. It was a simple and predictable book but full of characters we gave grown to love from this series and the other series as all the characters came together to fight the big bad.
There’s romance, friendship, family, found family, mystery and adventure. Even a few laughs!
I’m sad to see these characters go but who knows maybe they will make another spin off about the next generation! 🙌💕
