Meant to Be

Rate this book
Avery had her whole life planned out at fifteen years old: become a best-selling author and build a cabin perched in the hills above her favorite place in the world, the tiny coastal town of Three Rocks, Oregon.

Cooper, on the other hand, didn’t have a single plan and definitely didn’t want to go to Oregon. A beach where the water is too cold to swim? No, thank you. But it only takes one chance meeting with a shy, gray-eyed girl to change his mind.

One week. That’s all they had. One single week that changed both their lives the way only a first love can.

Now, eleven years later, against all odds, Avery’s dream has become reality. It doesn’t exactly feel like a dream though; it feels like the hollow shell of a life she thought she wanted. The words that used to flow so freely? Gone. The boy she met at fifteen, the one that whispered promises of a future together? Nowhere to be seen.

Then, suddenly he’s there, smiling at her from across the bonfire. It doesn’t take long for both of them to feel the same gravitational pull they felt so long ago, but the years that passed sit between them, making them both cautious and unsure.

Unfortunately, Cooper’s not the only man from her past that shows up unexpectedly. As Avery’s world crumbles around her, will their teenage promises be broken once again, or will they find that after all these years, they really are meant to be?

Wesley Harper is an amateur author, semi-professional coffee drinker, and advanced overthinker. After thirty-nine-and-three-quarters years not writing books, she decided to write a book. Or two. Or five?

When not attempting to put her fictional world on paper, she enjoys being exasperated by her bad dogs and unruly teenagers, doing things to exasperate her husband, and obsessively working out in her garage gym.

Arc review- This was a very sweet, well-written romance about what happens when the love of your life from childhood comes back into town.

Dual POV first person
Young love gets a second chance
Grumpy x Sunshine (she's the grump)
Slow burn
Dual timeline writing
Community and friendship
Secrets revealed
Spice 2 chilli pepper out of 5

Our FMC is Avery, who was a successful author as a teen. With an overbearing father, she left that and became a lawyer. I loved seeing her growth and coming to realise herself and love that person.

Our MMC is Cooper, who met Avery as a 16-year-old boy and returned to the town they met 11 years later. Hes is the definition of patient and kind and just so dang sweet.

This is the first book I have read by Wesley, and I guessed that this wasn't the first in the series. I wasn't confused at all, though, and feel that this was fine to read as a standalone.
This book balanced going back in time to the MCs' minds when they were teens and back to the present, where they meet now. Beautifully written.

Another fantastic book from Wesley Harper... although this was supposed to be the final book of the series, it left me wanting the stories of more characters from the idyllic town of Three Rocks. Harper managed to weave a love story, with deep friendship, community, and still touch on more serious topics of trauma and how life can throw unexpected wrenches at you at any point.

Wonderfully written, I found myself transported to the town of Three Rocks, and wishing I had a place like that to go home to as well.

I hope this author continues to write Three Rocks stories - the depths she gives her characters and the care put into the details is something that many other authors skip over. I hope these stories make it onto the screen as I could picture every scene and character with such clarity.

"Really fucking good."

I am so excited for all the things! Closure for Harper. High school sweethearts Avery and Cooper finding their way back to each other. The found family. And even the nod to my girl Alexis Rose had me giggling.

If you love to support indie authors, give Wesley Harper's Three Rocks series a read.

An author by accident who did a brave thing one day and recommended her first book to me on a random Instagram post, is now someone I call friend. This series was truly "Meant To Be" for bothe of us. ❤️

Loved this story so much. I enjoyed Avery and Coopers story. It’s so amazing how dreams change, the people we’re with come and go. But it’s truly something special when you run into your love so many years later and that spark is still there. What are the chances? This was such a wonderful story, filled eh depth, love, and second chances. So well written. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’ll definitely be going back to read the others.

Ever since reading book 1 of this series I have wanted closure for Avery. This book was all that and more. From the dual POV to the flashbacks to Avery and Cooper’s younger days where they met, the storyline was seamless. They fit right into this small town, but even if you haven’t read the first 2 books of the series, you won’t be confused. This book can stand alone. Harper balances friendship, romance, and found family perfectly in this book.

I have been on my toes waiting for more out of Three Rocks and Wesley Harper threw it out of the park. The best one yet! The story of Avery was one we all needed to read. Love that all of the past characters are still there and the writer makes it feel like you are part of the community. I hope this isn't the last in the series.
