Calculus Cat's home life is locked in an in-tense, argumentative relationship with his TV set, which bedevils him with commercials for Skweeky Weets-the world's most asinine breakfast cere-al. His """"job"""" is no better. He is forced to run thought the streets sporting his famous grin as The Public shout abuse and throw rubbish. His world is graphic, black and white, jagged, full in, weird, speedy and loud-everything a comic should be!
I have waited so long for this to drop in price. $7 in 2021 is the least I've ever seen it so I jumped above price point and snagged it, in dicey condition, greedily.
Hunt Emerson is unquestionably my favourite classically expressive "cartoonist". His ink isn't the fine art that I ogle with my jaw on the floor- but I RELISH it just the same. He just knows how to draw what I like to see. And the content is so funny I can't stand when it's over.
You know... I could go on for an hour about the guy.
His uniquely morphing sets are truly one of a kind and his characters are VERY human- even when they are cats, and all that. His allegories are on point and he examines issues with an subtle to aggressive flair that just right for the circumstance.
But alas, I'm out of time.
Just read the guy with both attentive eyes and you'll see why he limitlessly entertains me!
This book is one of my favorite works of all time. It’s as if George Herriman and Franz Kafka teamed up and turned their talents on television. Emerson is a cartoon genius.
