She came to destroy me. Now I’ll burn the world to keep her.
She gets beneath my skin. Haunts my thoughts. Strips away my control.
And I keep going back for more.
Every glance pulls me deeper. Every touch weakens my grip. And when she looks at me with those silver eyes full of secrets and fury, I know I’m already lost.
Something dark is closing in around us.
Power is shifting. Truths are unraveling. And the woman I can’t stay away from may be the key to it all.
I should walk away before she ruins me. Before this obsession consumes us. But when she’s in my arms, nothing else matters.
Not the lies. Not the danger. Not even what’s coming.
Because once I claim something as mine, I never let it go.
And I’m beginning to realize she was always meant to be mine.

Thanks to Netgalley and DL Grant LLC for providing me with an ARC for this book!
First of all, this is book 9 of the Skye Druids series, but the first book in the series that I'm reading, which might have impacted my reading experience. However, the impact was very minimal. While there is a clear overarching story across the series, everything is explained in the book itself, which meant I was only very occasionally confused, and never about any of the big parts. That said, I would recommend reading the series in order, exactly because of that overarching story. I'm definitely planning to after reading this book!
Regarding the book itself, I very much enjoyed the writing style, which is also why I'm interested in reading the series from the start. It read quite fast and was also pleasant to read. The storyline pacing did kind of feel all over the place though - sometimes it felt like nothing was happening for a long time, then suddenly everything happened in the same few chapters. Also there was a big attitude shift in one of the characters, which felt kind of rushed, after having that same attitude for years and years. Within the bigger context in the book, it made sense, although I do feel like maybe that shift could have been slower.
Overall I did not really reach for this book, but once I was reading it, I did definitely enjoy it. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the series from the start, but that is fully on me and not on the author, which is why I'm planning on starting it from book 1! If you are looking for an urban fantasy series that has both action and romance, I would definitely suggest you give this series a shot!
The penultimate book in the Skye Druids series was a thoroughly captivating and intense read. BETWEEN TWILIGHT was a spellbinding story of revenge, magic, danger, allies and enemies, and romance. A story which had me constantly on the edge of my seat.
Finn came to Skye as a member of the Knights to help the Druids in their fight against the evil threatening the Isle and the Druids. Finn is also a Druid, a belleder who has the ability to take a person's emotions. Valia has come to Skye seeking revenge on the man she blames for destroying her family, Finn. Finn and Valia have a connection, one which is deeper than either could have expected.
Ever since his contact with The Grey Finn has been experiencing excruciating pain from the tattoos on his legs, pain so debilitating he barely hangs on to life. When his path crosses with Valia her anger toward him is volatile, he instantly reacts, a reaction he may come to regret. Valia has an ability to take away his pain, how? Finn needs the answer to that question. The tension between them is thick, so too is the chemistry. What will Valia do when she learns the truth about the incident that destroyed her family? What side will Valia choose in the battle of Skye?
Donna Grant has bee building the intensity, the suspense, the mystery, and the intrigue throughout this series, and the final battle is almost upon us. After the events of BETWEEN TWILIGHT all the pieces are finally coming together and I cannot wait for Whisky Skye to be released.
This one is a roller coaster and we’re so close to THE ultimate showdown.
It’s a slow start and Vaila wasn’t easy to feel sympathy or like given we’re only seeing how much hate she’s carrying. Then Finn’s magic is used and I had a burst where I couldn’t put the book down. The pace dips a bit off and on after that and there’s a lot of internal repetitive dialogue. Overall there’s interesting progress but I wish I knew more background or development around Vaila’s vital magic. By the end I liked her and she’s a good addition to the Scooby witchy gang.
It looks like Callum and Kirsi’s book is next and wraps up the series. I really need to see the druids from the Dragon Kings and especially MacLeod Castle play a significant role in the final battle. It would bring it full circle and be a nice bonus for the fans who’ve read all of the books to get here (over 15 years since Dark Sword?).
How did I forget the shift in Beth? I’m very curious to see how her arc will play out and a scene with Bronwyn.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The end is near… Jajaja. Oh, I have been waiting so long to use those words, and now that I finally can, I have rather conflicting feelings about the whole thing. Because after nine books exploring the Skye Druids corner of Donna Grant’s magnificent Dark Universe, we have reached that point where everything seems to be converging, the pieces are falling into place, and the final battle is looming on the horizon like a particularly unwelcome guest who has nevertheless been invited to dinner.
Almost everyone has found their other half, the circle is closing, old secrets are threatening to surface, and the truth is finally preparing to step out of the shadows. All roads appear to lead to the ultimate showdown, and yet, with one final book still to come, we are not quite there. Naturally, Donna Grant would never make things that simple for us. Why give readers peace of mind when you can give them delicious anticipation instead?
For now, though, we get Finn and Vaila, and what a pleasure it is to follow their story! I shall refrain from saying anything that might spoil the surprises, because honestly, where is the fun in reading a book if someone has already robbed you of those delicious moments when everything clicks into place? Let's just say that Ms. Grant knows precisely how to keep her readers invested, emotionally involved, and perpetually hungry for the next revelation.
If you're already a Dark Universe devotee, you'll find everything that makes this series so addictive: scorching passion, intense emotions, complicated family dynamics, dangerous enemies, and enough action to ensure that sitting still is never really an option. But what I particularly love is how no story exists in isolation. These books are part of something much bigger, a sprawling, intricate tapestry in which every character, every revelation, and every seemingly insignificant detail has its place. Familiar faces keep crossing paths, old connections gain new meaning, and the overarching storyline continues to grow in ways that make the entire universe feel alive.
Now, if you're new to Donna Grant's work, I suspect Between Twilight might leave you wondering whether you accidentally walked into a family reunion where absolutely everyone knows everyone else's secrets except you. With such an extensive cast and a mythology built across numerous interconnected books, there is a lot to take in. My advice? Go back to the beginning and enjoy the ride. You have an enormous amount of wonderful reading ahead of you, and trust me, this universe has a way of getting under your skin.
And here comes the bittersweet part. I'm thrilled to have another fantastic addition to the Dark Universe, yet there's a little ache at the thought that the Skye Druids' journey is drawing to a close. After spending so much time with these characters, watching them fight, suffer, love, and find their places in a world that never makes anything easy, saying goodbye is not exactly something I'm looking forward to.
Besides, let's be honest. We may be approaching the end of this particular war, but are we absolutely certain that the end really means the end? Donna Grant has never been one to leave a mystery untouched or a reader entirely comfortable. I have questions. I have theories. I have suspicions. And I fully expect to be rewarded with answers in the final installment, preferably without having to sacrifice too much of my sanity in the process.
So here I am, caught between the excitement of what's coming and the sadness of knowing that a beloved chapter of this epic journey is nearly over. Between Twilight delivers the intensity, the emotion, and the tantalizing promise of revelations I've come to expect from this author, while setting the stage for what I sincerely hope will be an unforgettable conclusion.
Now, Donna, darling, I believe we've waited long enough. Bring on that final book. Tie up those loose ends, expose those secrets, give us the answers we deserve, and please don't think for one second that we're not going to scrutinize every last detail.
4.5stars-BETWEEN TWLIGHT is the ninth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult SKYE DRUIDS paranormal, fantasy romance series, a spin off set in the author’s numerous interconnected series. This is Druids Finn and Vaila’s story line. BETWEEN TWILIGHT should not be read as a stand alone as each successive instalment builds upon the previous stories. I also recommend reading DARK ALPHA’S COMMAND (Reaper 15) for back story and cohesion. Several characters from the author’s other series including Reaper Balladyn and Druid Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command) and Silver Dragon Ulrik and his mate Eilish appear as secondary characters.
SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier, betrayal and vengeance forced a take-over of power on the Isle of Skye but someone or something is depleting their power, and killing the Druids, not only on the Isle of Skye, but around the world including Edinburgh Scotland. With the focus on the death of the Druids on the Isle of Skye, Balladyn and Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command /Reaper 15) begin an investigation that reveals a danger targeting the Druids on the Isle of Skye.
Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Vaila and Finn, BETWEEN TWILIGHT follows Druid Vaila as she embarks on a journey of vengeance against our story line hero. Approximately twenty years earlier, Vaila’s brother was killed, and in the ensuing months both of her parents died from a broken heart, the family never having recovered or returned to the Isle of Skye. Blaming Finn for the loss of her family, Vaila, with the help of The Ancient and a Druid named Edie sets into motion a plan to destroy our story line hero, a man who is about to discover a connection to the past.
Like the earlier instalments, the world building is detailed and complex, as the story line follows several connected pathways as the Druids on the Isle of Skye continue to fight for their lives, and as such, some previous knowledge of the series is highly recommended. Once again, the story line bounces between characters, locations, circumstances, incidents and perilous threats as the Druids suffer unexpected losses, and the continuing decline of their powers. The Ancient, The Grey, and former Skye Druid Edie have targeted the Isle of Skye Druids, provoking a war to end the Druids, to regain control.
The relationship between Finn and Vaila begins as a rescue, of a sort but Vaila is ultimately trying to take down our story line hero. Memories become blurred as different versions or sightlines reveal conceptual differences , and Vaila must battle between head and heart, between vengeance and falling for a man with powers of his own. Vaila and Finn both have a target on their backs, and magic may not be able to save them both. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
There is another large ensemble cast of familiar, colorful, powerful and determined secondary and supporting characters from many of the author’s interconnected series including Fae, Reapers (Balladyn) and Rhona, Dragons (Ulrik and Eilish), and Druids and their mates, some of whom have been ‘marked’ by The Grey.
BETWEEN TWLIGHT is a story of magic and mayhem, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, obsession and madness, acceptance and friendships. The character driven premise is dramatic, comprehensive and intricate; the romance is seductive but struggles in the face of perceived betrayal; the characters are determined, desperate and magical.
As this series moves forward it continues to get increasingly more complicated but my understanding is that the next story will be the conclusion and we will see an end to this epic battle and danger. Donna Grant’s Skye Druids series began originally as a spinoff of the Reaper and the Dragon Kings series but it truly became it’s very own magic. The Skye Druids have their own dangerous history, enemies, and battles to fight, but together if they can find out who to truly trust as they become a team they can succeed finally. This latest story was one of the longest in the series and the plot was so filled with twists and flips that you could find yourself lost if you weren’t paying attention every second. Finn, one of the Knights, finally gets his story as he meets a woman that rocks his world but sparks all his red flag warnings from the very beginning. Vaila has been obsessed with Finn for decades, following around the world and determined to make him pay for a murder that changed the trajectory of her entire life and cost her entire family. She is finally ready to strike now that he has settled with all of his friends on the Isle of Skye, getting close to him and befriending him so that when she gets her revenge it will hurt him all the more. Finn knows there is something fishy about Vaila but he is so drawn to her and the more time he spends with her the more he wants her. Soon Vaila begins to question everything she knows about Finn and she has to truly confront their shared past and decide who she can trust and how she will move forward in her life. But when an even more dangerous enemy stands against both Finn and Vaila, they will have to come together along with all the other Knights and their team in order to stay alive. Finn and Vaila are falling deeper into their feelings and find that their chemistry and connection is becoming so much more than either of them ever thought I could be. Finn is the one male that thought he has no chance at finding a mate, knowing that his death was right around the corner but when he meets Vaila he begins to wonder if he might have something more to live for. I loved his cunning, strength, sweetness, and bravery, especially when he was faced with Vaila’s pain and had to help her face her true past. Vaila has spent the past two decades being led by an enemy in the guise of a savior and she never thought of questioning it, but when she finally opened her eyes it was painful to watch her come to terms with all the mistakes she’d made. I didn’t like Vaila much until about 75% through the book when she finally grew up and learned to start questioning for herself instead of just allowing others to lead her by the nose. In the end they found a way to win the battle once again, coming together and kicking some serious backside, but I imagine that if Vaila had opened her mind sooner that battle could have gone much more easily and happened so much sooner. I am looking forward to the finale story and seeing everything finally come to an ending and of course seeing who finds love in that story. Donna Grant don’t fail us now and give us all the ending we’ve been looking forward to since the beginning.
Another captivating journey into Donna Grant's magical world!
Every time I return to the Isle of Skye through Donna Grant's books, I'm reminded of why I love this series so much. Between Twilight is another captivating addition to the Skye Druids series, filled with magic, danger, passion, and the kind of emotional intensity that makes Donna's stories so special.
This time, Finn and Vaila take center stage, and their relationship is anything but simple. With secrets, betrayal, and a desire for revenge standing between them, their journey is full of tension and complicated emotions. I particularly enjoyed the way their attraction challenges everything they believe about each other. Neither trust nor love comes easily, which makes their connection all the more fascinating.
What I especially appreciate about Donna's writing is her ability to bring together so many different elements without losing the heart of the story. The ancient magic, the mysterious atmosphere of Scotland, the ever-present danger, and the passionate romance all fit beautifully together.
And, of course, it's always a pleasure to encounter familiar characters from Donna's Dark Universe. Those connections make the stories even more enjoyable for readers who have followed her books for years.
Between Twilight offers plenty of suspense, unexpected developments, and emotional moments. The story kept me interested throughout, and I found myself once again completely immersed in the magical world Donna has created.
After so many books, Donna Grant still manages to keep her characters and stories fresh and interesting, and I think that's quite an achievement!
For everyone who enjoys paranormal romance with strong characters, ancient magic, dangerous secrets, and plenty of passion, this book is definitely worth reading.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit to the Isle of Skye!
Thank you, Donna Grant, for another fantastic adventure!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntary.
Between Twilight is yet another fun, fantastical story for the Skye Druids. As we near the end of the series new problems arise, some questions are answered, more are raised and the entire cast is back.
Finn gets his story. This enigmatic member of The Knights turns out to be a wonderfully caring man (despite a horrendous childhood) in addition to his Druid skills. Vaila has spent the last twenty years tracking Finn's every movement. She's spent all her time plotting his demise. After her family all died, she's failed to make any friends, no life goals, nothing but hate and revenge. She's had one companion of sorts. The Ancient who gives her information on Finn's whereabouts. She's always just a little too late but she's followed him closely.
Finn and Vaila are thrown together when she finally catches up with him on Skye. Vaila's plan is to get close to Finn then exact her revenge. Gaining his trust first will make her victory even sweeter so she sets about bumping into him "accidentally". Several events involving the Druids also bring the two together. Finn find himself intrigued by Vaila but very skeptical of her motives. He's also growing very protective of her. When he's in excruciating pain, she's a human balm. Her touch takes the pain.
Edie and Vaila both receive instructions from the Ancients but do not get along. Can they work together to do in the Skye Druids? The Grey is back and everyone is still trying to figure out what is really is and what it wants. The search for the last pillar, the water pillar, continues as the battle is looming closer. Everyone can feel the final showdown is near.
I won't give away all the good bits but trust me the story has all the action, suspense, and mysteries typical in the series on top of a slowly growing attraction and eventual love between Finn and Vaila. You really need to read this book. If you haven't read the entire series do it now before the next book comes out!
Between Twilight is the ninth book in Donna Grant’s Skye Druids series and tells Finn and Vaila’s story. I recommend reading the other books first to understand the important ongoing storylines.
Vaila comes to Skye seeking revenge against Finn, whom she believes killed her brother twenty years ago. His death destroyed her family, with her father dying by suicide and her mother dying of a broken heart. The “Ancient” leads her to Skye to get her revenge while also directing her to work with one of the Skye Druids’ enemies.
Finn is one of the Knights marked by “the grey.” Vaila stages a meeting and later a car accident to draw him in, knowing he’ll want to help her. Finn soon realizes that all isn’t as it seems with Vaila. We also learn about his secret ability as a bleeder when he touches her and takes on her anguish and rage.
Their relationship isn’t easy, especially since Vaila believes Finn destroyed her family. But as she gets to know him, she starts to question what she’s been told and realizes that something has been influencing her memories since she was twelve. After Finn saves her from attacks by the grey and assassins, she accepts that she’s been lied to and manipulated. Once she accepts the truth, she’s able to acknowledge her feelings for Finn and begin discovering her true power and her role with the Skye Druids.
I can’t wait to read the next—and final—book in the series, which will be Callum and Kirsi’s story. With some help from the Dragon Kings and their Druid mates, and hopefully some cameos from the Reapers and Dark Warriors, this is sure to be an epic conclusion!
INTENSE!! Just one word to describe Between the twilight. If I was watching a movie I would be covering my eyes and taking peeks through my fingers. The emotions that were stirred up while reading--intense. The desire to take a peek at the ending--intense. The desire to see into the future to see what happens next--intense. It was one of the most intense reads that I can remember experiencing.
Things have been heating up for awhile on the Isle of Skye. The Skye Druids are fighting for themselves and the world at large. They are winning the battles but will they win the war? Between Twilight brings more adversaries to the Isle. Danger is increasing with each chapter. I couldn't put the book down. I wanted, no needed, to see how things would go. Lives are in danger, especially Finn's.
Finn's life hangs in the balance. His unexplained tattoos are bringing debilitating pain. Even stranger, he keeps crossing paths with Vaila, a woman he believes to be a stranger. But is she? Her anger is so intense it causes Finn to react. It isn't good. He should have taken as a warning. It doesn't matter because he can't stay away.
Vaila has a choice to make. Will she stand with good or evil? As truths are revealed the choice will be made for her. The attacks are growing. Lives are at risk. The battle at the Fairy Pools could change everything. I couldn't wait to see if Vaila would stand with Finn or destroy him.
Between Twilight is the ninth installment of Grant’s Skye Druid series, and tells the story of Druids Finn and Vaila. Vaila has been tracking Finn for revenge for killing her family for twenty years. However, all is not what it seems. Then there’s this pesky connection between the two of them but Vaila is reluctant to let go of her hatred for Finn. Finn has his own doubts about Vaila, but he cannot deny the connection between them; both magical and physical. There are enemies to face besides each other, and ultimately, Vaila has to figure out who her true enemies are and which side of the epic battle she belongs on. This book could be read as a stand alone, as much background is given, but to truly enjoy it, knowing at least the story of Balladyn (Reapers series) and Ulrik (The Silver Dragon King) is advised. I was overjoyed to spend some time with two of my favorite characters from previous series, and love it when Grant merges her magical worlds! The romance, as in many of the books in this series, almost takes a back seat to the danger, intrigue, magic, suspense and friendships. I am very much looking forward to the last book in this series to see how it all plays out, if good will once again triumph over evil, and to witness two more beloved characters finally get their HEA (hopefully!).
Donna Grant delivers another captivating story filled with magic, danger, revenge, and unexpected romance! For over twenty years, Vaila has carried a deep hatred for Finn. Something he did in the past changed her life forever, and she has never forgiven him. Now, after all these years, she's tracked him to the Isle of Skye, determined to finally get her revenge. But as we've come to expect on Skye, fate has a way of interfering with even the best-laid plans. With the terrifying monster lurking in The Grey and other evil forces closing in, Vaila and Finn find themselves caught up in something far bigger than their troubled past. Old wounds, long-held secrets, and unexpected emotions make their journey anything but simple. What I particularly enjoyed was watching how years of anger and resentment could be challenged when the truth and unexpected circumstances come into play. Donna Grant does a wonderful job of blending the supernatural elements with the emotional struggles of her characters. Between Twilight is another wonderful addition to the Skye Druids series. With plenty of suspense, magical twists, and a romance complicated by the past, it's a story that kept me turning the pages. I'm always happy to return to the Isle of Skye, where nothing is ever quite what it seems!
This is book 9 of the Skye Druids saga and we finally, get Finn’s story. Finn, who is in the Order of the Knights, was always a mystery, but reading his book was definitely, worth the wait. Wow…What a rollercoaster of a read. Vaila, is on a mission and determined to make Finn pay for the murder of her brother, which had devastating effects on her parents and changed her life forever. When she finally believes she has everything, she needs to take her revenge, she starts to second guess herself, especially, since Finn has saved her from the enemy. Meanwhile, Finn, who is developing feelings for Vaila, is getting red flags, but he continues to try to keep her safe, believing the truth will eventually reveal itself. Battles continue to be fought on Skye, but with the unimaginable evil, who will win? This book has some of everything you want to read in a PNR. Many questions are answered, but there are still questions that will hopefully, be answered in the next or final installment. Another great read by DG that I highly recommend. Although you can pick up the series from here, I strongly suggest to start at the beginning of the series, for a better understanding of the storyline and it’s characters.
Vaila lost her family over twenty years ago and has come to Skye to seek revenge for the murder of her brother. She believes Finn, a druid and member of the Knights, is responsible. She has been tracking his movements for a long time, waiting for the right moment to exact her revenge. This is the ninth book in the Skye Druid series, and I am afraid it leaves the reader with more questions than answers. Now that is good because we need a good lead-up to the series finale. We are still fighting an entity called the Grey, and Finn has tattoos that often cause him pain from his first encounter. What we learn in this book is that Vaila can alleviate that pain, but how? The Druids need a “water pillar” to win the ultimate battle; could it be Vaila? We uncover Finn’s hidden talent in this book. And don’t forget romance, chemistry, and love; this book doesn’t disappoint as these two unlikely characters find it. This book, however, is leading us to the battle of all battles: good against evil. Can’t wait to read the final book in the series as we have had hints and more bad guys show up for too long…too many questions, and they keep coming. I am ready for the answers!
Between Twilight was a spectacular story of revenge, enemies, and romance.
The war continues to build, and the Druids are getting hit from one side to the other and then you add in a person so hellbent on revenge it throws more ciaos into the mix. Valia arrived on Skye and was set to do nothing more than exact her revenge on Finn.
This story is about hatred, manipulation, lies, and finding that everything you know was so very wrong. From the first time Valia and Finn met, something was there and Finn wanted to know more. Sides must be chosen and Valia must choose. Through their adventure, not only did they turn from enemies to lovers, Valia turned out to be the one final person needed for the upcoming battle.
We get to see a little of Ulrik and Eilish and find that the tattoos on her legs and Finn’s are connected.
The final battle is almost upon us and the pieces are finally coming together and I cannot wait for the final showdown.
This was a sit on the edge of your seat and an exciting prelude to what is coming next.
Velia is used 2 revenge cause of what happened 2 her family but she was also manipulated about some things. but by who and why and for who to send all the hate and anger 2? Finn knew something was seriously wrong with her but he couldn't figure out what and why exactly. when he syphoned some anger from her it really knocked him out for a while. when he finally woke up he was really surprised about what had happened. there's sumthing going on at her house between a few enemies going there like the mist that she never heard of b4, and other enemies. when she finally realizes that she has 2 look deep inside herself about a few things it like something breaks inside and the whole truth comes out of her true nature. what will she do with her true nature now, use it for good or bad she has mins 2 decide? read and find out asap!! i keep u on ur toes and keeps u wondering what happens next. i loved it!!
Finn is a Druid and one of the Knights, who right the wrongs done to the Druids. Finn is also a bleeder, that is someone who can take someone’s emotions. He meets Vaila, who lost her family twenty some years ago and has thought of nothing but vengeance. She blames Finn for the death of her family. She has arrived on Skye to finally get her revenge against him. Finn has tattoos on his legs and when The Grey gets near, he is in so much pain that he passes out at Vaila’s. When she gets near or touches Finn, the pain lessens and goes away. When they must hide in a safe house, Vaila finally realizes her mistakes and finds out why she’s really been brought to Skye.
A little bit steamy. Forced proximity. Enemies to lovers. Magic. A great story. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley.
Outstanding! Vaila has been out to get revenge against Finn for twenty years for killing her brother. She has to get close to him which when she does, she finds herself torn between the hate and rage she has felt and the attraction she feels along with some doubt. Finn has his own doubts about Vaila but he also feels very drawn to her. There is a lot of evil on the Isle of Skye and it is definitely heating up. The Grey has marked Finn from his previous visit and the pain he gets from it is calmed when Vaila touches him. When the truth is revealed about what happened the night her brother was killed, both their lives are in even more danger. The mystery, suspense, romance, and friendships make this an outstanding series! Oh and a bonus is we also see Ulrik and Eilish for a little bit in this story! I love when the worlds Donna created merge.
I eagerly dove into this latest instalment of Donna Grant's Skye Druids series because the story is building and charging forward, book by book.
I appreciated the disclaimer at the beginning of the book (nod of approval to Miz Grant) because all of my emotions were raw by the time I finished the last chapter. Donna Grant writes multidimensional characters that grip you with their story. The origins of the evil in this series is just as captivating as the forces of good that come together to fight it. Donna's characters grapple with truth, the perception of truth and the internal battle that people can fight when faced with layers of misunderstanding.
I am both eager to see how the threads of this fascinating story all tie together and sad to know it's going to end soon. However, the author is sure to have another splendid tale waiting in the wings for her devoted readers!
Wow, where do I start... First let me say that I absolutely loved it. I mean I read it in one sitting, until the early morning hours. It was so worth it. Vaila came to the isle seeking vengeance. What she finds there will change her forever. Finn didn't know why she was there, but he did feel drawn to her. When things start to become clear, he realizes he would do anything to hold on to her. The war is coming to Skye and nothing can stop that. The Druids are finding out more around every corner. With that comes even more questions. Each of them has a part to play and they will also need their allies if they plan to be victorious. Though I don't want the series to end, the final book is coming. We will get all the answers we have been waiting for, will they be the ones we expected or hoped for? The wait will be difficult. Another great job Ms. Grant.
Vaila had only one thing on her mind when she arrived in Skye - revenge. However, after meeting Finn, her feelings began to change. She began to question if the feelings were really hers - or were they coming from something else? Finn suspected there was more to Vaila than she was revealing. But there was a connection between them, one Finn couldn't ignore. The evil on Skye is growing and the Skye Druids still have nothing but questions.
The evil is working to keep the Druids guessing at its next move. Finn is torn between his friends and his connection with Vaila. The suspense is high as the sense of evil grows darker and closer.
This is an intense and enthralling addition to the Skye Druids series.
Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
Finn and Vaila. She has an ulterior motive for meeting Finn; one that she has been carrying around for years. He can tell she doesn't really want to be around him, buy why? He doesn't really want a relationship right now. Things are too dangerous on Skye, but he can't seem to convince himself to stay away from Vaila. Then the gray comes after her, but why? He is drawn in right along with her but for some reason she soothes him when the tattoos grow painful. Then he sees Edie watching her house and wonders if the two are connected. He needs to concentrate on helping to find the water pillar, not trying to figure out if Vaila is friend or foe. Then he sees something that he knows is not good...
Not the end yet! The only ones left to give in to each other are Kersey and Caleb (forgive me if I spell these wrong, I listened to the audiobook). The big battle is coming.
The Druids of Skye continue to be plagued with threats from London, from Edinburgh, and from Skye itself. They have two of the three pillars needed to defend Skye. They're just missing the Water pillar. Edie and the Ancients appear to have Vaila on their side. But then there's her chemistry with Finn. And even though she's determined to kill Finn, she slowly begins to see that there is another side to this conflict on Skye. A fascinating read as we see how Vaila grows and changes. Can't wait to read the next (and final) novel in this series on the Skye Druids.
Thank you to DL Grant, LLC and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read a free ARC of Between Twilight in exchange for an honest review.
Between Twilight (Skye Druids Book 9) by Donna Grant is the next book in the exciting saga of the Sky Druids with vengeance leading the way. Finn is a Druid Knight, who now has another Druid, Vaila, blaming him for the deaths of her family so she has come seeking revenge. However, the story is more convoluted than that. Vaila learns a hard lesson that she should not believe everyone or everything you heard, not even what she thought is an Ancient speaking. A powerful force is at work to twist truth into lies for its own agenda to destroy. This hate-to-love story Finn and Vaila finding truth and love. Finn is an exceptional character, mature, wise and patient. The overall theme continues but Finn and Vaila’s story is complete.
Thanks to Donna Grant for giving me an ARC of Between Twilight in exchange for my honest review.
I appreciate the declaimer that was added in the beginning of the book. If you're sensitive to the mentioning of child loss than I would say this book may not be for you.
Between Twilight is the latest paranormal romance title by Donna Grant that follows the characters from the Skye Druids series. This is book #9 in the series.
Strange things keeps happening on the isle of Skye, things that are affecting the Druids. It's hard to keep track of who's a friend or foe especially when the person is a newcomer to the island. Old familiar faces are brought back, along with new enemies and challenges.
This is the ninth book in the Skye Druids series and it did not disappoint. The story is an incredibly intense, fast-paced ride packed with magic, betrayal, and deep secrets that kept me reading late into the night. The chemistry between the characters was one for the ages. I especially loved the thrilling cameos from beloved characters across her interconnected universe, including the Reapers and the Silver Dragon Ulrik. I am always in awe on how Ms. Grant continues to write exceptional stories weaving in characters from her previous books but at the same time ensuring those who have not read her books can still enjoy the book as a stand alone. An absolute must-read and a well-deserved 5 stars!
Love this series by Donna Grant and picture what I hope is an epic conclusion. The enemy to lovers seemed rushed in this one, actually the whole story felt rushed. Hate him, now love him and want to save the Isle even though just a few weeks ago I wanted him destroyed. Some of the main characters were barely present but I kinda knew where this battle is heading for a bit so I’m totally invested in how it all plays out. So even though I thought the story was rushed I still really enjoyed reading it and look forward to the next book. It’s one I hope the characters appear in her other books as I really like them.
I enjoyed this book. Vaila's hate for Finn and the details were sometimes repetitive. As always this series continues to escalate and now that the crew has found the 3rd elemental, I can't wait to see what happens next. I did wish to know what happened with Edie, cuz I really don't like her much. I'm sure this amazing author will tie this series up neatly. Finn is still a source of curiosity for me. This story reveals his past, but not where he fits into the story and what's happening at present. And I love that! We also get a short glimpse of Ulrick and Eisha, but the questions still linger. Between Twilight is a good story, but leaves me with more questions than answers.
Engrossing! This next book in Donna Grant’s Skye Druids series is a very intense read. Dealing with our two main characters Finn and Vaila who are both Druids, the story follows the previous book by building on the evil that has creeped onto Skye. Each character is fully developed, with explanations of the motivation driving them. Once I started reading, I found that I didn’t want to stop. Having read all of Donna’s previous books I followed the story easily, so a new reader may have some challenges with characters from earlier books/series. Donna Grant writes these current series as part of a huge interconnected universe. I can recommend all of Ms. Grant’s books, but this one is an exceptional read: compelling characters, intricate plot line, mystery, and a developing romance between two opposing characters—this book has it all. Kudos to our author for providing such a satisfying book. 5 well deserved Stars! I was given an ARC by the author and this is my honest opinion.
This latest in the Skye Druids era was a bit different than prior books. the MFC, Valia, has a personal vengeance against Finn. However, what she sees when she meets Finn doesn't match up with the years of anger and hatred she has been carrying around. All of this when the Skye Druids are approaching a pinnacle in the way with the "Ancients" (who really aren't), the Grey, and finding the water pillar. This race against time made this book a page turner. Conclusion was well written. 4 out of 5 stars.
