FROM JUROR TO DEFENDANT. THIS CLIENT WILL NEED MORE THAN A LAWYER TO SURVIVE.When Vera Hopkins dies on the eve of her ninetieth birthday, suspicions immediately point to her niece, Virginia. But sometimes, the truth is far more mysterious, and with the death penalty looming, the stakes have never been higher.

After agreeing to take on Virginia’s case, Ben faces more than just a standard murder trial as his own partner becomes a suspect. With Elsa caught in the crossfire and a mob boss out for revenge, will this lawyer find a way to save his world, or is this one case where the death penalty comes calling?

The Guilty Juror is a heart-pounding courtroom drama full of intrigue and deception where the stakes are life and death. Perfect for fans of John Grisham, Michael Connelly, and James Chandler.

The Guilty Juror delivers a tightly wound legal thriller that follows defense attorney Ben Carter as he takes on a case that quickly becomes more dangerous than he expects, blending courtroom strategy with a steadily rising sense of personal risk. When an elderly woman dies under suspicious circumstances and her niece becomes the prime suspect, Ben steps in to defend her, only to uncover a tangle of family secrets, shifting motives, and a will that raises more questions than answers. As the investigation deepens, the story widens beyond the courtroom, pulling in threats from organized crime and forcing Ben to balance his commitment to justice with the safety of the people he cares about. The novel moves at a brisk pace, layering twists that keep the mystery alive while grounding the tension in Ben’s moral compass and determination. It’s a plot‑driven, accessible read that leans into suspense, making it a solid pick for anyone who enjoys legal drama with a sharp edge and a protagonist who refuses to back down.

Exactly what needed

A couple of members of our Small book elaborated on what they like to read best . This exactly matched their description and since it is my turn to recommend a book this month I can easily give them this book. It reads easily, keeps your interest, has a good story and hold its mystery.

Never fails, these books in this series and others by Archer are darn good. With a mix of characters and intertwined drama, this book was hard to put down. I eagerly wait for the next book that promises to be fabulous.

Fair to Middling

Read this one if you are running low in quality reading material. Hard to follow, the predictable, the disjointed as the author tries to piece this thing together with duct tape and baling wire.
