A great novella that give us a glimpse into Dani and Shadow's life later on with a beautiful 2 year old baby boy and a little girl on the way.
Just because this is a short novella it doesn't mean that we don't get some action in true M.N. Forgy fashion. Someone is out to get revenge on the club and everyone around them...so is only a matter of time before he comes after Dani...but that doesn't mean she can't defend herself...
So to all the fans of the Devil's Dust series...this is a must read and if you haven't read this series but are into MC novels then you should definitely get started :D

How will she succumb to these new challenges? And with the rise of a new but old enemy that threatens her and Shadow and the rest of the Devil’s Dust MC, will anyone live to die another day? Or will they become a victim to the Valentine’s Massacre?

Love That Defies Us by M.N. Forgy was a sweet novella that interlaced grit and devotion. Dani and Shadow have been through the ringer in their relationship with everything that they had to overcome and in this novella, it follows up on Dani, Shadow and Zane as a family. With Shadow's VP position, Dani and him have become a little distanced and so they hope to rekindle and reconnect with one another but with a Valentine Massacre that is targeting those associated with the Devil's Dusty MC, romance may have to be put on the back burner till the killer is caught.
In this novella, M.N. Forgy was able to incorporate revenge, an eye for eye, and of course those sexy MC bikers of Devil Dusty. So if you are bigs fans of Dani and Shadow, this novella was the perfect Valentine read for this couple. And if you are a Bobby fan, then you should be happy to know that he played a big part in this novella and I can't wait for his book.

...challenge, fustrate
M.N. Forgy takes us on a journey filled with love that defies every threat.
The once fierce, passionate, flame filled relationship of Dani and Shadow has hit a low interval. With Dani adapting to motherhood, preparing for baby #2 and Shadow taking over club business in the absent of the Prez; they barely have time for each other. Will they rekindle their sultry love affair just in time for Valentine's Day? Or will the unexpected obstacles thrown their way threaten more than just their relationship?
I loved the growth of H/h but what I love the most was that M stayed true to her characters. She changed them in a way that touches your heart BUT she forces us to see the murkiness that still lurks within them. This is a fast paced novella that delivers just as much as a full length novel would. When compared to Book 1 & 2, this short story without a doubt, holds it's own. M gives the same darkness, the same grit, the same searing heat that radiates off of Dani and Shadow as she takes us on a journey consisting of swoon worthy and cringe filled moments.
Will they defeat the threats or will the unforeseen challenges destroy them?
Get ready for a bloody valentine when the darkness of Shadow and the dimness inside of Dani takes over. Throw in Bobby, Cherry, Zane and the new addition to the family and this novella is more than memorable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ only because I love Dani and Shadow.
The story line was good but confused me. The synopsis is written as if Shadow and Dani are battling to stay together. Hmmm no where in this book were they not in love, fighting or even on a verge of a breakup.
Shadow says he hasn't been around much but Dani isn't complaining and not only understanding she is as ok with it. She still ride or die for her man and the club. The drama that does occur is minimal; starts and stops fast. Seriously it's like 3 pages, which does not follow the write up for the story.
Oh well. I love them both and will still follow the series.

This novella was perfect ! I got to see how much Shadow and Dani are still in love and how happy they are with their cute toddler son Zane. They also got a cute chubby Rottweiler puppy ! It was beautiful to see them name their newborn daughter after Delilah/Babs. It was a great ending to a very intense and beautiful dark romance.

Was very nice, a good read. Thought the tension Between Shadow and Dani could have been more frayed, and their relationship strained, guess there was going to be bickering, and arguing. Was disappointed in the lack of drama between them. Still the storyline and plot was good, so enjoy!

I just have to ask, does Shadow believe in foreplay? They always get right to it, sometimes you just want more. I love how the story ended. I like how a contract killer becomes a family man.

**JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW**
I have read all 3 of the Devil’s MC books by M.N. Forgy and now this Novella, I can’t get enough of my favorite MC couple Shadow and Dani. This Novella comes out just in time for Valentine’s Day and even though it is short the author has done an amazing job with this read. M.N. Forgy does not skip out on the danger, party and steamy love scenes. It started with a bang and ended with one as well. I mean if you’ve read Shadow and Dani’s story you know just how intense these two characters are.
Shadow is now the VP for the Devils Dust MC. Things with Shadow and Dani are strained and rocky. Shadow does not feel the same intense connection they once shared. They have Zane, their 2 year old very active toddler. Dani’s pregnant with their 2 second child and his responsibility to the club keeps him away from his family. With Valentine’s Day approaching he knows that he needs to do something special for Dani. He needs to get back to where they once was.
“You look stressed.”
“Valentine’s Day”
“What do you have planned?”
“She told me I don’t have to worry about it, but I feel like I shouldn’t listen to that. I haven’t been the best husband-to-be-lately.”
Dani is engaged to the VP of the Devils Dust MC, 37 weeks pregnant and feels it. She feels huge, drained and hormonal and not sexy at all. Dani is lonely but understands Shadows role with the MC. Even after these 2 years together when she sees Shadow she still gets excited. Dani knows that Shadow grounds her. He makes her feel rational and coherent in this crazy MC life. She understands he can’t be around as much as he used to be but she misses the mornings when he was home with her and their son. Even though she is 37 weeks pregnant she wants to give something special to Shadow.
“How are you and Shadow?”
“Things have been kind of distant since he was made VP. Having Zane and also getting pregnant has put a strain on the sex.”
“Well, we will find the most drop-dead sexy lingerie and bring back that spark.”
“Where we headed?”
“Victoria’s Secret. You seriously think I am going to fit into anything they have in there?”
“It’s lingerie Dani; what did you expect? To wear a maternity bra and supportive panties?”
“Fine we will look.”
Of course this is the Devils MC so there has to be the risk of danger to the club and of course Dani. True to form the author adds in the element of danger in to this fantastic novella. In the midst of planning the perfect Valentine’s Day Surprise Shadow and the club have to deal with the Valentine’s Day Massacre and who are targeting the club. I loved how the author kept the characters of Shadow and Dani intact as in their previous novels. Shadow is still possessive and dominant with Dani and Dani gives him sass.
“I don’t want you out tonight. Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving the house?”
“I didn’t realize I need permission.”
“Where are you? The town has a curfew, for fu*ksakes!”
“I’m going home now, so calm the hell down!”
There is nothing that Shadow wouldn’t do to keep Dani, his son and the club safe. When the danger hits home Shadow realizes without Dani and Zane he wouldn’t have a life. Dani’s darkness starts to creep in and the only people that can keep her focused are Shadow, Zane and their unborn child.
“You are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. How I ever came to deserve you will remain a mystery to me. Tonight Firefly, you will be mine and your body will belong to me.”
“I’m about to….”
“Not till I say. Wait for me, and we’ll go together. Now Firefly.”
“I am the fire to his dark and tormented world.”
“I know I don’t deserve perfect, and I don’t deserve the love of the woman who is mine, my son who looks up to me like I’m his hero.”
Will Shadow and the club eliminate the threat to the club and Dani? Will Shadow and Dani be able to make this Valentine’s Day special or will responsibilities and danger take it away? Dani and Shadow’s path to their happily ever after has been paved with club business, threats, darkness, and babies, and while it definitely hasn’t been easy, it’s what makes Dani Shadow’s light/fire in his tormented world.
In The Love that Defies Us, Dani and Shadow’s story continues. It’s a few years later, and they’re settling into family life with their son, Zane, but with Shadow’s new position as VP of the club, there’s definitely a strain in their relationship because the time they get to spend together is far and few between, but that’s not something that will divide them because they’ve been through too much and defied too many odds to not be together.
In this Devil’s Dust novella, it’s Valentine’s Day, and Dani and Shadow, despite turmoil surrounding the club, want to show one another how important they are to each other and the idea of possessing the other’s body and soul is the only thing on their mind. So great to see some of my favorite fictional characters again! I’ve really missed Dani and Shadow, and witnessing their fiery chemistry. Having babies in the picture might take away some of their alone time, but it definitely doesn’t take away from the heat those two produce. So steamy!
We still see a bit of their inner struggles, but it’s clear each of them have a handle on them and dealing.
This fast paced novella will keep you engaged in the mysterious murders happening left and right.

Shadow and Dani return in this short novella; Dani is 37 weeks pregnant with her and shadows little girl, Delilah, suffering with dizzy spells and swollen ankles, she feels herself unappealing do her hot MC fiancé, Shadow. After debating with what to get him for valentines day, she calls a lingerie shopping trip with fellow Ol' Lady, Cherry. After returning back to her apartment; chaos comenses. With she have an easy delivery or will it be taken from her before she's ready?
I loved that there was this short novella for Dani and Shadow because I LOVE their story and characters. With a few years on from when they first started the relationship, chaos follows everywhere they go. This was written in a steady pace and was just the right amount for their short novella.
I highly recommend this series!

I loved that there was this short novella for Dani and Shadow because I LOVE their story and characters. With a few years on from when they first started the relationship, chaos follows everywhere they go. This was written in a steady pace and was just the right amount for their short novella.

Dani and Shadow are just one of my favorite couples...simple as that. I love them and the dirty motorcycle club world they belong to. In this book, it's been a couple years since they met...now they have Zane, their son, and Dani is expecting again. If you're a parent, you know how children can change your relationship. I love how M.N. Forgy shows this side of them. How they both are still very attracted to each other but have a kid now and one on the way and sometimes things don't always work out the way you want them to. She brings in someone from the past to shake things up a bit and put the reader on a roller coaster ride in true Devil's Dust style. I think Shadow grew even more likable in this book for me. Seeing how he acts with Zane (and Dani), but still being the badass biker he is, whoa...swoonworthy for me. If you're a fan of the series (or MC books) this book is a must-read...hell get the whole series if you haven't read it! It's one of my favorites!

I absolutely love this series, I love Shadow and Dani. Seeing them both go through hell and still be with each other is beautiful.
You get to see all sides to both Shadow and Dani in their books and this book you see the sweeter side to Shadow, even though he struggles with it, he comes out on top. The love that Shadow has for Dani, Zane and baby Delilah melts your heart. He is a tough arse biker with a heart of gold even though he doesn't think so.
The other thing I freaking loved is Bobby. Oh Bobby, Bobby, Bobby. Love the boyish charm and the sexy biker all rolled into one. So looking forward to his book.

Probably more 2.5 stars
It was good for a novella, but the writing style isn't the kind I like.
"...lantern in my cavernous soul" - a little too melodramatic of a metaphor for me.
And the way the author uses the word "being" in sentences sounds jarring to me.
I rated the first book of the series 4 stars even though the heroine's mom being an FBI agent was completely unbelievable, but I seem to like each book in the series less than the last one - don't know if I'll read the next one.
Most people that read the series think it's awesome, so this is obviously a ME problem.

I wanted to read about Dani and Shadow again. M.N. Forgy didn't disappoint.
I loved this so much. Dani and Shadow still standing strong through it all.
She’s like an angel trying to escape from Hell, one wing black and the other white. Battling innocence with the temptation of sin.
This novella was short, sweet and straight to the point. Dani and Shadow still face some troubles , even their love was defying them!

4.stars. This was a great story, but confusing at the same time. It had me think, why Shadow is acting this way and why Dani is weird about it. But overall still a great book. Kudos

This was honestly unnecessary and 100% could have been added to the end of their book as it was simply about their daughters birth and a ridiculous 5 minute story about a dude who lost the plot after being kicked out of the MC going on a murder rampage. You're welcome.

I LOVED this novella about Shadow & Dani!
It was exciting & action-packed (thanks to a murder mystery), romantic & sexy (thanks to a super-special Valentine's Day gift), and adorable & fun (thanks to Zane, Delilah & Cherry moments).
It's definitely a must-read for fans of The Devil's Dust series.
Very much looking forward to the next book in the series, The Fear That Divides Us. Bobby & Doc deserve a beautiful happily ever after! :)
