Evil, like the shadow of approaching night, crept into the land of Egypt and spread up river to the rich kingdom of Nubia.

The descendants of the Hebrew Joseph felt the whip of slavery, and the true pharaohs vanished as a cult of perverse cruelty claimed the people's hearts. But a prophecy had decreed the birth of a savior, his fate to be tied to the Children of the Lion--the clan that bore the mark and the curse of Cain. Even now, from the distant city of Babylon, a tormented son of this secret tribe is returning to Egypt. With him will come a sword, sharp and strong enough to liberate a land.

But is the promised Deliverer nigh? Yes, the time is come when a lonely Queen will again taste desire... and a Prince will pick up a blood-forged weapon to challenge a demon king.

In Book IX, Moses has been groomed as a Prince of Egypt, to one day take over from the evil Amasis. Baliniri sends him as the head of an army to quash a rebellion in Nubia and continue his education. The mission also serves to keep Moses safe from the dangers lurking in the court at Thebes. Meanwhile, the Haibiru (the Hebrew descendents of Jacob) suffer in slavery and wait for their promised deliverer. What will happen when Moses learns of his true identity? All the way through the ninth book in this series, I have not been disappointed. The action is nonstop, but it is the characters I enjoy the most. Each generation of the Children of the Lion is filled with fascinating individuals who meet their destiny.

It works best if these books are read in sequence.

Another good book in the series. I finished book#9 a little before Thanksgiving. I'm glad I'm doing the entire series. It's like keeping track of how old friends are doing.
The conversations during sword fights are a little corny, but it'd be good for teenagers.

Moses has grown into an accomplished young man and has discovered that he has Hebrew blood.
Seth & a villain live on. The children of the lion are like Forest Gump they way they keep ending up
in historical iconic situations.

book IX of XVIII in the Children of the lion series. If you enjoy historical fiction, Peter Danielson follows the Children of the lion- the clan that bore the mark & curse of Cain. There's is a familiarity to the characters that makes it epic! Paralleling biblical history.
