Adaptation requires a new kind of consumption.

Alex survived the crash, the brutal jungle, and the heart of a dungeon, but the truth her father desperately concealed—secrets that touch ancient villainy—has finally dragged her into the light. When Forgers, long-thought vanquished enemies of her friends' people, erupt through a portal to kidnap her best friend, Alex makes the only choice she can: she charges through the gate and destroys the path home.

Now stranded on a hostile new world, one where the Forgers plot a sinister takeover using mind-controlling collars and dark science, Alex must choose between exposing her terrifying power or letting her friends become another puppet in their army.

She must thread the razor-thin line between guardian and predator, freeing the bound and tracking the wicked while desperately ranking up inside a system that rewards monstrous progress.

A band of uneven allies—a star-listening Pathfinder, a hopeless Sword Dancer, and a mosquito god with alarming plans—joins her desperate fight, but the stakes become painfully personal when Earth's own darkest secrets return to haunt her. A Forger's raid exposes a horrific truth: human experiments, cloning vats, and collars that threaten to turn every loved one into an obedient tool.

If you crave the raw grit of a weak-to-strong hero battling impossible odds, where survival is measured in both upgrades and the fragments of humanity left behind, then step into That Which Devours.

Unlock your next obsession today.

This isn’t the final book of the series, and it’s not as good as the first two. Feels like 40% filler but still a decent read. A lot of background is covered, and that’s good. It seemed like the rift world was a huge left turn and we spent most of the book there.

First things first, is this the best written thing i've ever read? No. Do I know what Alex looks like or even her age? Barely. Do I care? Also no.

This series is a banger. Every 100 pages i'm having to stop to go rant to my roomie and explain my muder board of what the hell I think is happening. My roomie is now invested without even reading this.

The author is so so good at story and settings. Brilliant. Just needs a bit of work on character descriptions because I cannot for the life of me remember anything about Alex and I don't think she has been described since the first book. Pretty sure Lenna is green. Thats all I got lol

Alex is a delightful character. Despite some issues around her mother, her father has raised her right. We see her refer to things that her Dad has taught her and how this guides her.

This is important because of her class as a devourer. We learn from others how Devourers are viewed and feared. They generally appear to be solitary, aren't thought to really have any creative skills and don't help others.

Alex is the opposite of all these things.

I don't wanna go into too many details because of spoilers, but its clear Alex is being pointed at the forgers (our bad guys). Pretty sure she's being asked to eat the cancer in the system 😏

My only mino issue, please don't have Kabi be in love with Alex. Its perfectly okay for a dude to admire and wish to emulate someone wihtout it being romantic.

excellent

Loved the 1st 3 books in this series! Can’t wait to be able to read the next one. I love how the author brings to life all the personalities of the different characters in the books. Love that as a reader, I am invested into the growth of Alex, the main character.

overpowered, stomach-powered

More of the galaxy opens up, and Alex travels from a refugee camp to her own territory to a war between planets, and between the System and slavers.

Like that everything can become sapient, would it work the other way? Can devourers start sapient and go feral, turning into boss monsters?

Love how this book is progressing. Some good character and star growth without being all about the stats. The world keeps expanding and introducing more people and places. Excited to pick up the next book!
