The Disappearing by Jeff VanOudenhove

She is so beautiful in her sadness and confusion. The reader moves into the first chapter silent but wary. A woman that sees and feels things that are beyond her control. Or are they?

Simple things like her keys, car and where is her significant other?

The questions come relentlessly just as the high building tension and fear attack the next chapters.

Thump, Thump, thump as a little boy looks at her, shy yet so knowing. The car shop attendant waves his hands in confusion.

Images are fleeting in her state of mind. Her home welcomes her, inviting with warmth and love as characters meet her past to present.

That dang door next door! Ever changing in color! A swirl of colors that meet her soulful eyes yet why do they change so much?

The words flow as the reader softly and swiftly moves into this tender yet fast paced plot of wonder and the mysterious pages flow into love YET chaos sweeps you up and into the story.

This story grips you tight, raw and so real that the emotions cling to the reader.

Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as every interaction in this book pulls you in. The twists and turns that brings the reader furiously turning each page. I loved this book. I felt excitement, sadness and happiness.

This story unfolds into magnificent depths leaving the reader breathless.

“The Disappearing” by Jeff VanOudenhove completely wrecked me in the best possible way. Wow. This one hit every emotion.
The story follows Marney as her life slowly and terrifyingly begins to unravel. She starts losing chunks of time. Memory flashes creep in without warning. Random bruises and injuries appear on her body with no explanation.
This book is intense, suspenseful, and deeply emotional. Watching Marney try to piece together what’s happening to her while everything feels unstable and unsafe was absolutely heartbreaking. She really goes through it and you feel every ounce of her confusion, fear, and desperation.
And that ending? I was completely shocked at where this story went. I didn’t see it coming, and it was absolutely perfect. The kind of twist that makes you sit there in silence after finishing, just trying to process everything.
This isn’t just a thriller, it’s an emotional experience. A masterpiece.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Emotionally damaged!! 😭😭 This book starts out as a mindf*ck! It takes you through so many different happenings that your brain has trouble keeping up. As you read, you try to start piecing it together but you can't. And then all of a sudden BAM! it hits you right smack dab in the heart!! And emotions start pouring down your face! I was literally ugly crying while at work! 😭 Jeff, I think this book is one of your best yet!!! I loved it!! I'm so proud of you! Although my heart is breaking and it's going to take me a while to get over this book, I'm ready for your next one! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Finished my first read for 2026 & I loved every minute!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book will have you questioning everything! It’s a wild ride! Not everything is as it seems! I went through so many emotions reading this, even tears.
I always say “everything happens for a reason” whether good or bad, and this story falls right in to that.

“Did you think we wouldn’t find you?”

“Run, Marney! Run!”

Brilliant

Wow. This book was gut-wrenching and beautifully written. It had me reading almost nonstop for two days because I had to know how it would end. It keeps you guessing in the beginning, has you completely stressed out in the middle in the best way, and then breaks your heart by the end. Absolutely fabulous and a definite must-read.
