The Billionaire Bargain #2

The Billionaire Bargain 2

Rate this book
It was a deal made in the boardroom and sealed in the bedroom.

It all seemed so simple: I pretend to be his fianceé, his company share prices stabilize, and everyone wins. It’s all just for show.

So why does he keep kissing me? And why do I let him? Grant Devlin is the bane of my existence — not the man of my dreams. But now the lines are getting blurred, and between the kissing and the champagne (and did I mention the kissing?) I’m getting way too comfortable as the future Mrs Devlin.

Something’s got to give, and it better not be my self-control…

Oh dear! What a cliffy! I can't wait to read the next one!
But first let's talk about this one..

It was really good. At first i have to admit, i thought it will be one of those filler books, i'm so happy that wasn't the case. Grant and Lacey are getting closer and their relationship expands so nicely, through romantic scenes..

But the story also evolves drastically and takes some unexpected turns.
Our power couple has to overcome among others, a bitchy godmother, a malicious video leak, a bussiness deal and spiteful people watching their every movement.

In this installment Grant was so sweet and approachable we even got a glimpse on his past, but i missed Lacey's inner cynical voice commenting on everything, that's ok though, the girl had other things to do, believe me..

As for the ending well that was so good. Of course i want those two together, but i my heart is with Lacey. She has a focused mind and a tender heart, she can't do no wrong..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- Kate is an amazing friend.
- I loved their time in the vineyard.
- Portia = Hag
- They are very hot together..
- Her paents are so cute..

ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you!

Well, they were marrying as business arrangement to save his company. She was aware of this from the begging. So why is she making a huge drama some time before the ceremony and instead of telling him she could not go ahead with the plan (because she was in love with him- rolling eyes) she left a note with a staff to give to him saying she couldn't do it and he shouldn't look for her? WHAT? This is a woman who's supposed to be a competent mature professional. Please, what a stupid action.
Beside, the only sex scene was so mechanical I skipped it after a few lines.
I am definitely not reading the same books as those highly rated reviews

First let me thank Lila Monroe for giving me and ARC of The Billionaire Bargain (part 2) in exchange for an honest review. And I am thankful she offered! I was dying to know what happened next!! There was a part in this book that I tweeted Lila to tell her I wanted to kick Grant in the nuts… but Lila said to wait he may need them later.. so I am waiting.. Bwahaha…

***small spoiler alert***

So, this novel starts off right where the other left off. The ice queen -Grant’s Godmother- was her usually pissy self as she ‘congratulated’ the couple. Then ordered Lacey to have lunch with her the next day at noon. As they left the ballroom they went straight to the car where Lacey consumes copious amounts of champagne and is dropped at home. As she drops to her bed she passes out. Waking up to a Bam Bam Bam at her front door. She had slept into the mid morning, her head of course was killing her but she had to stop the noise. (Though I think she changed her mind when she opened it to one pissed off best friend. Kate barged in and was about to blow a gasket.)

Of course the newspapers -all of them- printed it on the front page. Lacey and Grant’s faces were everywhere. What was Kate’s problem? Why had Lacey not told her about the engagement? Once Lacey explained what was going on Kate relaxed a bit. Finally as they talked Lacey remembered the old bat had invited her to lunch. Lacey made it late, but in her defense the bitch had only told her at 15 minutes until it was time to go where to meet her. She was snooty and stuck up but that was usual. Just as the old witch kicked into full gear Grant swooped in and rescued her.

Grant, trying to be a good man gave Lacey his credit card and after a bit of tousling she took it. To ‘make a point’ to him she and Kate went on a shopping spree. HA! And by the end of it she loved it. The next day Grant picked her up and drove her to his family's vineyard for an engagement party. That party turned Lacey off of a few girls as they hated on her in a nice way. Grant again swoops in and takes Lacey off to look over the property. Thanks to her new high heeled shoes she can't walk through the soft dirt. Grant gets.. well he hijacks a golf cart -by picking the lock on it- and they ride off. Their innocent ride turns into a drunk rollercoaster of riding through mud and the river. You get to see a side of Grant Devlin that you usually don’t see.. unless he is with Lacey. (my opinion)

He is laughing and joking around and they actually have a helluva time together… even up to the time where Lacey decides to drunk drive the golf cart right into a tree. Though they managed to escape the carnage before it hit. Grant lead her to a cabin -in the woods.. LOL- and a simple act of getting themselves clean turns into a night of passion. But as they wake up a call comes in and things go from great to awful. Seems a video tape of Grant and two woman from last year has surfaced. They head back into the city and take up space at ‘their’ -his- apartment and try to do some damage control. They manage to get Mr. Jennings's back on track -thanks to Lacey and her honesty, at the moment- and then the godmonster shows up.

“Well, Grant dear, it looks like your inability to walk without tripping and falling into someone’s cunt has come home to roost at last. I’m only impressed that you somehow managed to get your dick stuck in two at the same time.”

((Hoooooly fucking Hell… I about pissed myself at that. Thank God my bff works with me ‘cause I had to share that and we both turned red, laughed our asses off and then I went back to reading while I still laughed. That has to be the nastiest -thanks to the ‘C’ word, yet very truthful thing ever said. Kinda gives a whole new meaning to a hole in one… LMAO))

After the ice queen/godmonster’s little rant there she announces the wedding has been moved up… to one week from now. Next weekend they will be husband and wife. Lacey -after talking to Grant- decides to tell her parents what is really going on. About the whole rouse and all. They take it well. Her mother tells Lacey to follow her heart.. and that is what she does.

This series is an addiction. Even though i have yet to come down from the post-Grant high, I am already in need of more.

Lila Monroe is the Queen of The Cliff and the ending here is KILLING ME (in a good way, obvi). Book 2 gave me even more than what I was hoping for and I can only anticipate what's to come. Lacey continues to be awesome, but Grant has now transformed into an adorably vulnerable and respectable man. Well, except in certain situations where it's way more appropriate to be like a lion hunting his prey. And I more than welcome those changes. Can't have him acting like someone he's not ;)

I will now patiently wait for book 3 with puppy-dog eyes.

Holy hot Aussie Adonis! Grant Devlin, CEO and billionaire babe extraordinaire, continues to makes me swoon and my lady parts hum. Book 2 of Lila Monroe's Billionaire Bargain again sucks me in by being raw, funny, witty, entertaining, and steamy.

With an impending marriage to save the company, Lacey Newman and Grant pretend to be a couple in love...though the attraction has always been present. Somewhere lines start to blur...business mixes with pleasure...and the charade may start to get real.

"If I could just stop wanting Grant. If I could just stop wanting those strong arms around me, those soft lips on mine. If I could just stop wanting that look, when his stormy blue eyes suddenly turned soft and delighted because I had surprised him--that look, when I could almost convince myself he loved me, not just the challenges I threw his way."

Lacey has trouble separating her fake engagement from her very real and growing feelings towards her dashing and drool-worthy Devlin.

"I ached with how much I wanted to just turn to him, right then and there, and tell him how I felt. But sometimes you want things you can't let yourself have."

Though the past and stormy present, from a sex tape gone viral to a wicked monster of a godmother, are throwing a wrench in even the best plans...fake marriage or not. The question from book 1 still lurks like a dark storm cloud over Lacey: 'Are Grant's feelings real or are they like his life has been...a big fat show?' BOOM! Cliffhanger!

A good second novel by Lila Monroe! This story touched on Grant's past so we learned what helped shape him into the somewhat immature, but growing wiser, panty-melting CEO and billionaire is today. Again, I wish the book was written in alternate points of view so we could have jumped in Grant's sexy head a bit too. Please, Lila, write a story told by Grant so we can see how this sexy Aussie Adonis ticks!

***I'd like to say a MASSIVE thank you to author Lila Monroe for my ARC of this fabulous series and for keeping me entertained during the miserable weather gracing England at the moment!***

Lila Monroe definitely knows how to rock a cliff-hanger - I mean I was dying at the end of part 1 but after reading part 2 I'm positively salivating for the third book! Lila, you're bloody amazing but how could you do this to me?! *Sigh*

So at the end of book 1 Lacey faced a surprise marriage proposal from her rakish boss Grant Devlin. In part 2 of the series we re-join her right after his grand proposal and they're swiftly trying to escape the press and fans. Of course on the way out they had to be congratulated by Grant's Godmother Portia (aka Bitchy Ice Queen No.1) who makes her ill judgement towards Lacey very apparent.

Still in shock about the whole thing Lacey falls into a champagne induced sleep, not waking until the next afternoon when the events of the evening before hit her with full force. And even if they hadn't her best friend storming into her apartment and the big-ass diamond on her finger would have been a big enough clue.

Faced with the whirlwind that accompanies being engaged to the one and only Grant Devlin, Lacey's first role as his fiancé is to suck it up and have lunch with the giant bitch that is Portia. She hasn't even sat down before she starts to lay into her and bluntly tells her even though this wedding is a sham it will still be done completely how she wants and if Lacey wants to fit into her gown she better start watching what she eats! Once she's saved by Grant and they make a quick escape the reality of what she's doing really starts to set in.

Lavish engagement parties, jealous supermodel-lookalikes and a shit storm at work have now become her norm - those are things she can deal with. But her feelings? They were never part of the agreement. The plan was simple; be engaged for month, get married and divorce in the most civil, boring way possible. At no point was she meant to start to actually like, let alone fall in love, with her boss.

Having grown up dreaming of her perfect wedding to a man who loves her as much as she loves him, can Lacey go through with a wedding that is nothing more than a sham? Can she marry a man that sees her as nothing more than another PR stunt but she may have just fallen for?

The Billionaire Bargain Part 2 is a continuation of Grant and Lacey's story and is again quite a short read (I finished it in about an hour) but despite it's length I'm still begging for more! I still love Lacey as a character though I felt her sense of humour didn't shine through as much as it did in part 1 which was a shame. Nevertheless hers and Grant's banter is still entertaining and as always their chemistry is great!

Once again their is a cliff-hanger and I for one can't wait to read what happens next! A series which just keeps on getting better, I'm now not-so-patiently waiting to find out whether Lacey will follow her heart...

The story picks-up right where it left off, Grant Devlin has proposed to Lacey and she had accepted. Lacey is overwhelmed by well wishers and unfortunately has to deal with Grant's godmother Portia. Portia is Lacey's arch nemesis. She disapproves of Lacey because she's not from an upper class family.

Lacey doesn't even comprehend how she ended up engaged. In Grant style, he explains it's her idea. In Lacey fashion she response "In what crazy alternate universe was this my idea? Did you just beam in from the alternate universe where up is down ad Spock has a goatee and I have absolutely terrible ideas?"

The next day Lacey meets with Portia to discuss the wedding plans. Lacey tells Portia the truth about the arrangement. Portia acts as she had already know. "Given your entire lack of looks, skills, or suitable connections it as completely obvious that your nuptials were the final ingredient in some harebrained business deal cooked up by Grant in a last-ditch attempt to save the company from his own irresponsibility." Luckily, Grant shows up and whisks Lacey away to only reveal that he has had her belonging packed and moved to his place. Lacey is not happy with the move so she takes it out on the credit card she received from Grant.

On the way to their engagement party, Grant opens up about fears. He had offers to buy his families company. He choose not to sell because they had planned to break up the company and people would have lost their jobs. "Something in me knew that no matter how afraid I was, I couldn't let myself walk away."

After they escape their engagement party the run off and enjoy themselves. Although Lacey has to constantly remind herself that this is a business arrangement, she does admit to herself that she's falling for Grant. After hiding away from the world, news of a you tube video comes crashing in. Grant owns up to his mistake, but it's Portia who feels that quicker action is needed. The ending is a nail biting cliff hanger.

Lacey is discovering the real Grant. She's falling for him and it seems he has fallen for her. Although Portia seems to be the wicked witch of the west, I wonder if she has other motives. Lacey truly wants the best for Grant and believes in him. It's up to Grant to believe in himself. The cliff hanger hurt! I can't wait for the next book.

**Received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review**

The story between Lacey and Grant continues. They are forced to a marriage of convenience and all so Mr. Devlin can acquire Mr. Jennings' company. He needs to prove that he can handle and take care of the company and show that he's serious. The only way he can do that is by marrying someone to show that he's become a responsible man.

He was used to gambling, having women galore and just not giving a sh*t about anything. I'm surprised he even has a company still!! But Lacey is there to set him straight. She is the one who forces him to attend charity events so he can show these important people that he cares about the company(ies).

Things are starting to look up for Grant and he thinks that Mr. Jennings' is going to agree with the terms of the company and passing it over to Grant. But then something afloats out there that can jeopardize the deal and now Grant is afraid of what's going to happen. If it weren't for Lacey, he sure as heck wouldn't be acquiring anything!

It seems like Grant and Lacey are starting to spend quite a lot of time together and attending functions together as a couple. They need people to see that they are serious about each other. If everyone only knew! Lacey is starting to develop feelings for Grant but she doesn't think she's the type of woman that he goes for and never in a million years take seriously. It's all just a business deal any way, or is it?

Loved that Lacey was a strong and independent woman. She didn't take crap from no one especially not from Grant or his godmother. She knows how to hide her emotions and not show her weakness. Grant is starting to grow on me and I think he and Lacey make a wonderful pair.

I hope it works for them in the end. But this cliffhanger was much more infuriating than the first installment's (argh!)

I hope Ms. Monroe doesn't leave us hanging for too long. This series gets better and better.

Wow! This book takes off right where the other one left off. Author Lila Monroe packed this book with some of the funniest lines I have read, while making me swoon at Mr. Devlin. I love the humor she sprinkles throughout this book.

Lacey is one of those lead characters you just love. She is funny, real, and has a way of wiggling her way into everyone’s heart. Lacey just needs to realize she is the total package. Grant is lucky to have her. This girl does everything for Grant without even thinking about it.
You cannot help but feel for Lacey when the lines get crossed between what she thinks is a business deal to falling in love with Grant. She may think that Grant only wants her for his business deal but I think it is more than that.

Grant is still the sexy arrogant smart mouth we loved in book one. Only now he is realizing that Lacey is something special. He gives her something that means the word to him and I am not sure Lacey realizes it yet. Grant has found his balance with Lacey. She brings out his fun side without any expectations. He knows Lacey will back him up no matter what.

The engagement party scene was my favorite scene in the book. Lacey was feeling down and Grant whisks her off to show her why he loved the vineyard. They connected on levels I do not think either one was expecting.
“Breathe, Lacey.” Grant took my hands, his thumbs rubbing gently over my skin in soothing circles. “We’ll get through this. Look at me.”

Let’s just say the ending of this book left me needing more like yesterday. I need to know what happens next now!

Oh, Grant! This Aussie billionaire, reformed man-whore, attentive and kind man had me all out of sorts…

Here’s where I would normally give you a little spiel on what the book is all about, but I think I’ll just leave this quote here instead….because it made me laugh, and because it sums up how I feel about the playful, adorable, sexy Grant Devlin.

“Dammit, no one had a rakish grin in real life! Rakish grins were for sexy pirates and dashing seventeenth century French spies with ruffled shirts! I refused to melt for an attribute real people weren’t even supposed to have.”

Ha! Thank god he’s not real and can have that rakish grin, which, by the way, in my mind is totally aimed at me, and I could safely melt for him if I wanted to. Which I most definitely did. Hmm, maybe I should talk about The Billionaire Bargain, Part Two instead of the titular billionaire, huh?

I LOVED it! It was everything the first one was, and a little bit more. It had slap-someone-hard moments, it had laugh-out-loud moments, it had whoops-there-go-my-panties moments and it had that f—king ending; an ending that had me cursing Lila Monroe and the Gods for not having the next book ready for me to read immediately. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Lacey and Grant, because their chemistry and connection is intense and incredible and, damn it, after two installments in this serial, I am in desperate need of a HEA, once and for all! ~ Beth, 5 stars

Oh my! Lila has done it again!

This installment picks up where volume one ends. The relationship between Lacey and Grant is growing more complicated with each passing minute. The more time Lacey spends with Grant, the more she gets to know the real Grant Devlin. The problem with that is Lacey is falling for him, but this was only supposed to be a business deal. Their chemistry is undeniable and when they finally take it to the next level, it's scorching! This complicates matters even more for Lacey, and in the end she makes a shocking decision. I expected the cliffhanger, but this one still left me speechless.

I loved Grant after book one and book two only solidifies it. The way he treats Lacey is endearing. Lacey proves she's stronger than people give her credit for. People look down at Lacey because of her curves, but the way Grant sees her is beautiful. Lila's gives Lacey depth while other authors leave their heroines lacking. Her writing is amazing and this story has it all... brilliant story line, handsome hero, strong heroine, humorous, drama, love and oh so sexy.

This was a brilliant second book in this series and I can't wait for book 3.

I don’t think I’ve ever read such an enjoyable book. Ms Monroe has truly captivated me with her witty writing, her sexy writing and such great characters to emerge me into their lives.

I love Lacey’s outward views and her inner thoughts. I cannot think of a female lead that I’ve become so enamoured with so easily.

And Grant….omg he is the boy about town! Totally charming, totally juvenile, totally hilarious! I love how he is trying to be Mr Responsible yet his past keeps coming back to drag him back into teenage mode.

I love how there is huge comedic moments in this book couple with a shit load of sexy time, and a shit load of shit from the villain of the story, namely Portia. Acid tongued with the wittiest of one liners make for an interesting read.

I’m glad I have book 3 already because I would die waiting to find out the conclusion to this story and I am enjoying this trilogy so much. Definitely one of the most refreshing books I have read for a long time. Ms Monroe’s style of writing is easy to read, easy to get involved with and is a must read.

I liked this book too, I enjoy Grant and Lacey together, I hate how his god mother Portia speaks to Lacey, and then at the graduation party the group of girls he just dropped her with were so rude, I loved when he caught how Jacinda spoke to her and stood up for her in the last book, why can't that happen to all of these other snobs. I think at times Lacey is unreasonable about not taking any money when it would help her so much. I loved them having fun and spending time together at their engagement party but away from the others. Then they end up at the cabin and it was beautiful, sexy, and hot. I loved when he said "You mean more to me than I could ever say in words, so I thought I might try showing you" and what he gave her was perfect, this said to me that he was falling in love with her but she continued to think they were just having fun, that there was no way he could have feelings for her even though her feelings for him were growing. Then another bump in the road happened, another thing from his past, but they come through it together only to have Lacey make a decision that will change everything.

Ugh.. And it doesn't even conclude with this book.

So now Lacey's stuck, having been proposed to in public by Grant, she feels forced to say yes. Despite her thinking he's an ass, she's so attracted to him that deep down she wants to marry him.

They get quite close in the book and there's some unexpected dirty talk which I would have liked more if it didn't seem slightly out of character for Lacey, given how she's portrayed.

For all the "talking" they supposedly do (which we don't get to read about at all), it doesn't occur to her that she's becoming at least friends with him? And what's he revealing about himself during these "talks"?? It makes it difficult to get to know the characters when we don't know more than the broad and shallow brushstrokes
the author chooses to give.

He's clearly affectionate and he likes her, but clearly I'm missing something. I wish the author gave us more.

ARC REVIEW

This story just keeps getting better. I am loving it! The addition of Lacey's hippie parents was brilliant. They are effing hilarious! They had me laughing so hard. Of course there is more of the evil godmother, who it seems to me has not one nice word in her vocabulary. Adds a nice touch of drama to the story. Grant opens up a little more in this installment and we get to see a little more of his serious side.

Grant is keeping Lacey in a state of confusion. He keeps throwing things at her that she is not prepared to deal with. She agrees to a one month fake engagement so he can close his business deal. When scandal hits, his godmother Portia the Ice Queen immediately moves the wedding up. Her one month engagement now is only a week and its now The Day. Can she really go through with this?

A solid 4 stars, keep up the good work girl!!!

The jerk has evolved into prince charming.I really had a love/want-to-hate-you relationship with Grant, but he redeemed himself with this book.

Love the chemistry between Lacey and Grant, I really hoping for an epic HEA for these two and so glad the funny factor continues in this book although a little less but enough to make laugh out loud with Lacey.Great plot twists and even better sexy scenes, thanks Lila you said it was gonna be more steamier it truly was!!!

And that ending!!! My heart is breaking for Lacey, get writing Lila I cant wait to see what happens <3

Things heat up between Lacey Newman and Grant Devlin as their so-called engagement hits the media.

An engagement on paper so Grant can seal a deal that the media eats up to save his company. It is supposed to be temporary but then another scandal strikes to make things turn ugly again.

Lacey finds herself getting caught up in the engagement despite herself and letting him seduce her along the way. Things become blurred with kisses and moving in with him for appearance sakes and getting used to thinking herself as his actual fiancée.

Can she be falling for him despite knowing it is all an illusion and he is only just her boss?

So book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. And if you think I'm going to tell you, think again!

Lacey finds herself in a situation she's not sure she agreed too. But she figures she'll roll with it. After all, she has a job to do, right? Except she needs to figure out how to keep the sexy as sin Mr. Devlin at arms length and he is very intent on being much closer.

This book is also filled with great banter between Grant and Lacey, and also you sense underlying emotion on Grants part and some angst on Lacey's. But the two seem to grow closer and the chemistry is definitely stronger.

This book also ends on a cliffhanger, and it's a WHOPPER! Way bigger than the first one!

I. AM. IN. LOVE...with these characters. Grant and Lacey pull so many emotions from me. From laughing out loud to tearing up at this woman's strength. Always keeping hold of her pride while dealing with all of the awful, superficial idiots thrown her way. Grant is sexy and fun and hard not to swoon over. I just want to yell, "OPEN YOUR EYES LACEY!" at my kindle. I will be pulling for them til the very end. Bring on book 3!

Nice book 2!
I'm pissed how Lacey acted by the end...they did all those efforts to save the company and convince Jenners...but in the last moment she comes up with this. She failed him... I understand the feelings but maybe talking to him about those feelings would have been better than the way she chose.
I really enjoyed it though...jumping to book 3!!

I really like this friendship... well it's sorta more than friendship too... that Grant and Lacey's have built up. They make a great team and now Lacey seems to be having doubts about it. Can't wait to read what happens next.

I think I read something similar to the plot of this one. It does not matter. This book was amazing. How come she never sees how Grant acts toward her? Come on. And the cliffhanger. I can't wait to start the third book.
