Louis Delfosse and David Strasser had been together for two years when they were seventeen, and were very much in love.
David has a dream of taking over the family company, but thinking his father is homophobic, he has to keep Louis quiet. David realises if he wants his dream job, he has to let Louis go, breaking both their hearts.

Years later neither have gotten over each other, even though they tried with other people, nothing compares to what they had.
Realising what a mistake he made, David tires to reconcile with Louis, but will Louis listen?

This is the first book in Mimi Rhine’s ‘Delfosse Brothers’ series. I am such a sucker for a second chance romance. This is one of the best ones I have read. They are both so lost without each other, and the pining is palpable and comes across strongly in the wonderful writing. I absolutely loved Paul and Finn and hope they get to tell their stories too.
Mimi has such a unique style of writing, which I love.
I am looking forward to Jannis and Luca’s stories.

🌿 Ivy by Mimi Rhine 🌿

“What’s so normal for others is only possible for us in the dark.”

what a sweet second chance romance this was 🥹 at times it was aggravating because of the reasoning behind their first break-up, but in the end it doesn’t even matter; love wins 🤍

Louis and David’s story starts as teenagers, showing us the last time they declare their love for each other before everything goes to shit (thanks to something David’s sister tells him in the past, causing a huge, sad misunderstanding). there’s some time jumping in the story to show what happened before they met, what led up to everything, and dealing with life after the break-up. i think my favorite time period is after the break-up, because we get to learn how they’ve had to live without each other all of these years, and how they come back together, showing that truly, they were meant to be 🤍

i can’t wait for the next two books in the series, Louis’s brothers Luca and Jannis were the best comic relief and there’s a little hint in the epilogue at what’s coming next for Jannis 🤭 and i wanna know.. WHAT happened between Finn and Paul?! 🧐

some tidbits:
🌿 second chance romance
🌿 size difference
🌿 Philipp & Adrien, AKA the best dads EVER
🌿 meddling brothers 🤭
🌿 chocolate buns & rooibos tea
🌿 the sweetest public love confession 📲
🌿 found family
🌿 handball 🤾
🌿 coming out
🌿 set in Germany 🇩🇪

Heartbreakingly beautiful 🩵

My heart 😭😭😭 what a ride!! This was a total emotional rollercoaster. Such a heartfelt and moving story. I adored both main characters, Louis and David.

Louis’s family dynamic was wonderful. I absolutely loooved his dads, and his brothers were so funny in that chaotic, stressful little-brothers way lol. I can’t wait to read more about them. On his own, his personality was so easy to like. Energetic and tough, yet incredibly thoughtful, caring, and protective, especially when it came to David.

David was the complete opposite, a bit more insecure at times, calm, and deeply in need of his father’s approval, just wanting to feel loved. Such a precious character🥹 His growth throughout the story was beautiful to see. I felt genuinely proud of him as he found his voice :')

I had never read a second-chance story before because I thought I wouldn’t be able to believe in or root for the relationship if one (or both of them) messed up too badly, cheated, lied, etc. But these two felt like the perfect match. They were so young, yet their intimate moments felt tender and real. You could feel their connection in every page. I also loved how those feelings remained just as strong and believable when they were older.

These two have a special place in my heart. I wish them all the joy and happiness ♡ I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!

Ivy is the first book in the Delfosse Brothers series by Mimi Rhine, and it was also my first book by this author.🤭

I don’t usually read a lot of second-chance romance, but this one was beautifully done. David and Louis were in love for two years when they were just 16 and 17.

Louis was raised by his two dads, so being gay was never an issue for him. For David, however, things are much more complicated. His sister was fired from their father’s company after being seen with a girl. Because David dreams of working in the company one day, and making his father proud, he’s convinced his father would never accept him if he came out.

So, he leaves Louis.💔

He leaves him heartbroken… but David is broken too.. never truly able to be himself or love who he wants to love.

Untill years later they meet again…🥹

Mimi Rhine tells a beautiful story about first love, resilience, and the idea that true love can conquer anything… if you just communicate 😅🤭

It was sweet, it was heartbreaking, and the spice added the right vibe. These two were clearly meant to be, and I’m so happy they got their HEA.🩷

I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!🤩

I’ve been soo excited for this continuation of Bluebird’s characters! This was a great second chance romance, Louis and David are so good together! Even when separated, you just want to shake them and tell them to get back together. Ivy was emotional and the meaning behind the name was so cute. One is the stone, the other is the Ivy, and without one the other would crumble.

Thank you Mimi Rhine for an arc copy of Ivy! I’m super excited for the next installment of the Delfosse Brothers! I’m also super interested to find out if Paul and Finn’s relationship/friendship develops more!

I love Louis and David! It was heartbreaking watching them go through what they did but I completely understand it! I love that they started over and got to know each other and were brave stepping into their next chapter! I’m curious about the side characters Finn and Paul! Maybe we will get to know their story a little later!?

Delfosse brothers book 1

Let me start by saying Mimi’s first book Bluebird has the best epilogue I’ve ever read. So when I heard that Philipp and Adrien’s boys were going to get their own books I was so excited. Book one in the series tells the second chance romance of Louis and David—but Mimi did a bit of a spin. The first part of the book we get the beginning of their love story. How they met and all the hot and heavy lust one feels as a young person falling in love. They are sweet and innocent, and a little lost. I wanted to wrap David in cotton wool and tell him to just live and be true to himself. He broke my heart…and then he broke Louis’. The second half we get to see these two find their way back to one another. After five years apart the love is still there, they just needed to work to grow a new relationship that made sense for the men they have become. I’m so excited to read the next two boys stories and I really hope the guys besties get books as well!

When I started this book, I’m not even going to lie I was getting annoyed 😭
Because WHY were Louis and David always all over each other??? Every chapter it’s touching, kissing, breathing the same air… I said okay we get it. (Maybe my single self was jealous)

Then I paused and humbled myself.

Because first love!! Yeah, that’s actually how it is. You just want to be attached to that person like glue. No shame, no space, just vibes. So I forgave them. Small.

Then the breakup happened and I was like okay… I don’t like this, but maybe they needed space. Growth. Reflection. Healing. All those big words.

BUT THE ANGST???
Oh my God. It was a lot.

I was stressed. I was emotional. Because I could actually understand both sides. Like imagine someone just breaks up with you for no clear reason, no proper explanation… then next thing you see them kissing someone else??? I would simply pass away.

Now that “kissing” scene… let’s talk about it small.
Because David was not even THERE. Physically yes, spiritually?? Gone. The boy was functioning without functioning. So the whole thing just felt… brushed off. And honestly!! I too will brush it off. I did not see it. Moving on 😌

Aside from that though? I really, really enjoyed this book.

And Philipp and Adrien as parents??? Oh my God, I felt like a proud auntie watching from the corner 🥹, then Louis Best friend (Paul) and David's Best friend (Finn) I love friends who ride or die for their mates, I just ship the friends tho..

The siblings!! No boundaries. Zero. Zilch. Just vibes and interference 😭 but I won’t lie, it added to the chaos and I had a good time.

One thing I really liked was the progression. At the beginning, we’re being told about their sweet moments pictures, memories, all that. Then as the story goes on, we actually start experiencing those moments with them dates, interactions, everything. It felt like we were growing with them, not just hearing about it. That shift? I loved it.

And David’s fear about his dad!! That one stressed me out because choosing between the man you love and your parent is not a choice anybody should be making. But I’m so glad it didn’t turn into a full-blown disaster later. I needed that peace.

Overall, I had a TIME. I really did.

And now!!! Jannis, I’m coming for you 😌
I just know that book is going to be Hurt. As in let me prepare myself in advance.

*ARC Review* Thank you for the copy!

Intro:
This is an MM romance between David, a closeted rich boy in line to take over his father's company and Louis, a student and teammate at David's school; both of whom quickly fall for the other

Tropes/Highlights:
-MM
-Dual POV
-Open Door
-Second Chance
-Misunderstanding
-It Always Been You
-Our Spot
-HEA

Likes:
-Places significant to Louis/David
-How Louis and Paul met
-Bar scenes
-Short chapters
-Best Friends Flynn/Paul - I hope they get a book
-Louis's supportive family/nosey brothers
-Such a cute cover!

Neutrals/Criticisms
-Some of the phrasing is worded weird, but that could be a translation issue from German
-I wish there was more development with David & his father's relationship, his father didn't show up often, but was an important part of the story

Quotes
-"What's so normal for others is only possible for us in the dark"
-"I would do anything to turn back time"
-"I always had a place, always had people who would have walked through hell and back for me and still would"
-"I am the wall; David is my ivy"
-"A future without Louis never existed for me. For me, it was always him or no one"
-"Your look doesn't exactly scream 'I have a grip on my life'. More like 'homeless' or something"

This book is the first book I have read from this author and I liked the story for the most part, but it was hard for me to stay engaged. The writing style wasn't as developed as I am used to and a few parts dragged for me. I still think the story was good and their journey was meaningful. I loved how Mimi incorporated Louis's family and their personalities. I liked the dual POV and seeing the character's inner monologue and how open they are about expressing their hurt/feelings. This story has heavy emotions, deep love/longing, sassy/protective siblings, fear of the unknown, hope, healing and the courage to be brave/fight for love. Ivy is great for those looking for a book about two young men who fell fast and hard for each other, but had to pull away due to misunderstood circumstances and who eventually find their way back to each other and heal those parts of themselves.

I always enjoy when authors give us a peek at a couple you’ve fallen in love with after their book ends. Short stories, popping up in other books, give me all the continuing HEAs.
In Bluebird the glorious epilogue gave a hint of what was to come as Philipp and Adrien celebrated their growing family. Now those sons get their own stories and HEA Next Gen is off to a great start with Ivy.
Oldest son Louis falls for one year older David when they’re both teenagers. Hey have two wonderful years until David breaks up with Louis and ghosts him because of something his father says. Credit to Mimi for writing this in a way that totally makes sense within the story given David is an insecure young man dealing with fears of being different, being found out, and losing his parent’s love.
Then there’s a flash forward when David has chance meeting with Louis’s brothers who give him grief for his actions, but also offer the glimmer of hope for a second chance.
In a bit of kismet, they both live in the same town. And David begins his quest to win Louis back.
It isn’t easy. Louis still feels the pain of that first heartbreak. But good lord is David persistent. They don’t diminish their feelings, giving them air. Their reunion is a series of fits and starts, which is so believable. Louis is not willing to hide this time, and David is still terrified to come out to his family. The contrast of Louis’s nurturing and accepting fathers contrasted with David’s older parents who have such high expectations for their only son really show why each reacts the way they do.
The secondary characters are fantastic: dads Adrien and Philipp, brothers Jannis and Luca, and best friends Finn and Paul (do I deduct a bit of something with these reluctant housemates?)
There’s a bittersweet resolution to David’s confronting his past and I loved how Mimi took our expectations and turned them upside down.
Please read Bluebird if you haven’t already. It will make you appreciate Philipp and Adrien’s journey to becoming chill, loving partners and parents.
I can’t wait for Jannis and Luca’s stories.

I really enjoyed this book. This is second chance over time with a hard earned HEA.

This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last! This was a really enjoyable book and I did not predict the ending! This had heart and joy and love but also had sadness and regret and anger. It was everything I hope for in a second chance friends to strangers to lovers vibe book!

David and Louis spend two years falling for each other until one day David ghosts Louis and leaves him heart broken.
David has always followed his father’s rules and done all he needs to do to eventually take over the family business. He even left the love of his life to focus on what his family deemed important. However, no matter what he does, the hole in his heart remains deep.
Louis refuses to be anything other than authentic to himself. He won’t be a secret or put back in the closet so when David shows back up in his life he’s hesitant to let him in.
David is determined to show Louis how important he is to him but one thing stands in his way, his father. The words he was told all those years ago that caused him to leave Louis the first time bounce around his brain reminding him that the path forward is much more complicated than he realizes.
David continues to show Louis everything that’s in his heart and continues to choose him even when Louis pushes back. In an ending I didn’t see coming, David makes a decision that used to seem so scary but with Louis’ love ended up being the best decision he’s ever made.

This was quite spicy! 3.5/5 🌶️

"Ivy" by Mimi Rhine is an M/M romance that focuses on second chances, setting boundaries, and learning to be an honest version of yourself.

The story follows David and Louis through getting together, breaking up, and finding each other again over several years.

Ratings:
Overall: 3/5 hearts - I don't think this book was for me. It was a little too slow to progress and a little too simple to keep my interest.

Peppers: 3/5 - There's definitely spice! But the plot is the primary focus.

Spice: 3/5 - For me, the spice wasn't the spiciest. It's perfectly good and enjoyable, but not out of this world.

Plot: 3/5
- Storyline: The story is simple and that's not necessarily a bad thing; it focuses on David and Louis' relationship and how it changes, ends, and rekindles over the years. There's no hidden villain or crazy twists and turns. Just a simple, cozy romance.
- Characters: The characters are okay. They felt one-note most of the time and I do feel like they suffered some "for the plot" moments that didn't always seem in character.
- Writing: Like most things in this book, the writing is fine. I wasn't blown away, but at the same time, I did think that story flowed well and always made sense.

Oh, my heart broke for these boys. Second chance romances can always be difficult but I think this was written very well, and dealt with all of the emotions that come with that extremely well.
The book starts from when the two first meet in school, and goes through all of their firsts together, the highs and the lows. Louis and David have very different families. Louis has been adopted by two loving fathers after a tough childhood that resulted in the death of his mother. David has it all but also the pressures and expectations of that. One is happy and comfortable to come out, while one wishes to but can't.
Despite this, they have so many good times together. We do go through everything with them. Meeting, being together, breaking up, surviving, the possibility of another chance with their only love. It's a full ride of emotion that you can't help but be pulled along with them.
It was also great to read characters from the previous series who are now a little bit older and parents! Louis has two amazing and interfering brothers who I can't wait to read more about.
I cannot recommend reading this enough. If second chance romances make you hesitate, whilst there is heartache, it's also full of love, hope and family.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

This was such a beautiful mix of heartbreak and comfort. It was also my first book by this author, and wow...it really pulled me in.

Louis and David’s story starts when they’re teenagers, completely in love, and then gets torn apart in the worst way. David choosing his future over Louis? Yeah… that hurt. Especially knowing he was breaking his own heart too.

Fast forward a few years and neither of them have really moved on, no matter how much they’ve tried. The pining in this? So strong. You can feel how much they still love each other in every interaction.

This second chance romance was done so well. It’s emotional, a little messy, but also really soft and hopeful. Watching David realise what he lost and try to fix it had me completely invested.

The writing has such a unique feel to it, and it made all those emotions hit even harder.

I also loved the side characters...Paul and Finn especially and I’m really hoping we get their stories too.

Overall, this was sweet, heartbreaking, and so satisfying by the end. If you love second chance romance with lots of pining and emotional payoff, this one is definitely worth it.

OMG THIS BOOK 😭💙
I honestly don’t even know where to begin…

This story took me on a full-on emotional rollercoaster. One minute I was laughing, completely vibing while getting to know the boys… and then BAM — emotional gut punch that just lingers for the rest of the book. Like… Mimi really said feel everything and meant it 😭

The journey Louis and David go on before reaching their happy place? Yeah… that was something else. My heart didn’t stand a chance.

I already loved the world Mimi built in Bluebird and Raindrops, so getting Philipp and Adrien’s sons’ story felt extra special 🥹 And knowing their pasts — how they came from such difficult beginnings in the foster system but still found love, family, and a place to belong — just made everything hit even harder.

Louis??? I was obsessed from the first page.
He’s got this firecracker, go-getter energy that just lights up every scene 💥 Short king energy but make it unstoppable — he never lets anything stand in his way and I LOVED that about him.

And then there’s David 🥹
Our rule-following, approval-seeking, calm boy who just wants to make his dad proud. He’s steady where Louis is chaos, but put him on the handball court and suddenly he’s that guy 👀

Together???
ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC ⚡️
On the court, off the court… these two just fit. Like they were always meant to find each other. Their connection felt so natural, so easy, and so deep — even when life completely wrecked them and tried to pull them apart 💔

And can we PLEASE talk about the brothers 😂
Jannis and Luca teaming up to meddle in Louis’s life had me actually laughing out loud. The chaos. The plotting. The absolute lack of boundaries 😭 But also… the love behind it?? They just wanted Louis to be happy and would do whatever it took 🥹

This book was such a joy to read 💙
The German setting added something really special — I loved all the little details and references woven in. It made the whole story feel even more real and immersive.

You can read this as a standalone, but honestly? Read Bluebird first if you can. Getting that deeper connection to Philipp and Adrien as dads just makes everything hit even harder 🥹

This one hurt, healed, and stayed with me long after I finished 💫

Delfosse Brothers Book 1
Mimi Rhine

Louis & David

Second chances
Pining & Heartbreak
Found Family
Second first times
Coming out
Meddling adoptive brother

Oh, the tension was thick in this.

Second chances is always a favorite trope of mine. I love the angsty hurty vibes it gives, it makes the reunion all that sweeter to me.

This was good. These two have been apart for years now, still in love with each other but both carry so much pain.

The first bit of the book was their past story and the 2nd half is of them reconnecting.

I really enjoyed watching them find what they once had again. It took some time for Louis to let his guard down and trust again. And for David to be confident and go all in.

Eventually these two get their beautiful hea.

I really enjoyed this. This was my first Mimi Rhine book and will not be my last!

I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

So thankful or this arc

ARC review

This is the first book in the Delfosse Brothers series and is a second chance MM romance with Louis and David as main characters.
They fell in love as teenagers but were forced apart by family. Years later, Louis still pines for David while David remains trapped in a life of secrecy. They go into a journey together to find out their true joys and desires.
This story feels genuine and tender. Their connection is real, especially in the quieter, intimate moments. I loved the support of Louis his family. His two fathers and his brother are a true highlight. They provide a loving and warm contrast to David's cold and controlling home.
While the story is beautifully and realistic is also had some bit of a mechanical repetitive structure. The rhythm is predicable.
I do love how these boys got their HEA in the end.

ARC REVIEW

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the author is German. I love supporting fellow Europeans, so that was a nice surprise.

This book is honestly quite beautiful.

It is divided into three parts:

✨ The innocent boys who fall in love and experience that
first love slipping away

✨ The adults who, after five years of yearning, still love each
other and David, who begins to question whether the
sacrifice was worth the loss of an all-consuming love

✨ Learning to trust and love each other again

Part one was actually my favorite. Their love and connection felt so pure and beautifully written.

Overall, this is a great second-chance romance with lovable main characters and meddling brothers whose stories I can’t wait to read next.

Louis and David's story is structured around two timelines: the sweetness of a first love and the slower, more careful rebuild of a second chance. The younger years section is done well, yet I felt like there was a lot of spice in this section when I wanted more conversation.
The reunion itself is one of the stronger elements. The author resists the urge to rush it, and watching Louis and David take the time to actually rediscover each other rather than just fall back into old patterns feels earned and realistic for the genre.
I liked Paul and Finn as well as Louis's family, I hope we see more of them.
For readers who like their second-chance romances grounded and unhurried this is a good book

This book has 2 timeline stories. Louis and David's first loveand the second chance.

It was heartbreaking watching them go through what they did. These once boys, now men, have been apart for years and are still in love with each other but both carry so much pain from the prior.

I really enjoyed seeing them find what they once had. It took some time for Louis to trust again but once he did they finally get their fairytale ending. The side characters in this book are amazing as well.

This was my first Mimi Rhine book and will not be my last! If you like Second Chance romances that have a happily ever after, this will be for you. 4/5

A very emotional and sweet second chance romance story. I loved seeing how Louis and David's story started, it was super cute and I loved them together. Their break up was heartbreaking and their reunion very nicely done. They didn't get back together immediately and I appreciated it. Their chemistry was very very good, I adored their dynamic and I was definitely rooting for them from the beginning.
I love Louis' family and I thought that all the side characters were very interesting. I want to read their stories. I particularly liked Finn, he's really intriguing.
A fantastic start to the series. I can't wait to read more.

First of all, I love Bluebird. That was Philipp and Adriens book. They are the parents of our sweet boy Louis. This book takes us to when they first met and the in and out of their relationship.

I will tell you one of the most precious thing to me about this book is the relationship Louis has with his parents. I just love all the support him and his brothers have.

David needs a hug. This poor guy just doens't know what to do about his feelings and trying to make everyone happy but himself.

This book was written well. I can not wait for the next book.

Great Job MIMI!!!!

This book was the perfect balance between heartbreak and cozy comfort. If you pick this one up, be ready for a full emotional rollercoaster — you’ll smile, laugh, tear up, and probably want to send a few characters straight to the moon.

There’s a German saying: what takes a long time will finally turn out well. And honestly, that fits this story perfectly.

And the fact that we get to see Adrian and Philipp as dads??? Hardcore swoon. This book is pure perfection to me.

This story ripped my heart out and put it back together. It starts out years ago when the MC's are teenagers and their chemistry leaps off the page. You can just tell these two are meant to be together but familial pressure and expectations force them apart. It picks up several years later when they meet again. Both are still hurting from the breakup and have never quite found "the one" again. They struggle to find their way their back through the heartbreak and it's tender and spicy at the same time. I absolutely loved the Delfosse family and I cannot wait to see what else we get in this series.

Ivy: A Second Chance MM Romance by Mimi Rhine is one of those stories that quietly wrecks you before putting you back together again. It leans fully into the emotional core of second chance romance, and it doesn’t pull its punches when it comes to pain.

Both David and Louis carry a weight that feels deeply real, years of hurt, regret, and the kind of lingering “what ifs” that never quite fade. Their individual struggles are raw in different ways David’s pain feels tightly held, almost suffocating, while Louis wears his more openly, but no less intensely. Watching them circle each other again, burdened by the past yet unable to let go, is equal parts frustrating and heartbreaking.

What makes the book stand out is how immersive their journey feels. You’re not just reading about their reconciliation, you’re inside it, feeling every hesitation, every moment of vulnerability, every tiny step forward. The emotional tension builds so naturally that you can’t help but root for them, even when it seems like they might sabotage everything all over again, and yes, it will probably make you cry.
