Daniel Does Amsterdam

Rate this book
While vacationing in Amsterdam, Daniel encounters some life changing experiences with bizarre twists.

On his arrival in Amsterdam Daniel meets Nicky who offers him a bed and a job as bar manager at the Cock’s Nest. Daniel’s job entails hiring staff and building the bar’s reputation as a leather bar. Daniel sets about his task with enthusiasm, using all his skills and some extra-curricular activity to persuade the best people to join his team.

Daniel, counted himself lucky to have been able to score a last minute ticket on a KLM flight to the “city of lights”. Daniel didn’t know it yet but he was about to land a job as a bartender in what was soon to be one of the most popular back room bars in the country.

“Cocks Nest” bar had been in existence for nearly thirty five years. It had gone through a series of changes and ownerships over its rocky tenure but it stayed strong and consistent as other bars opened and closed. When the current owner, Nicky Alex, first met Daniel, he was just off the train and standing in front of Amsterdam Central Station.

Lost in thought, Daniel jumped when Nicky touched his shoulder. Daniel turned about quickly, sizing up Nicky as neither panhandler or hustler. Nicky was a cute man with Justin Bieber hair and a one hundred watt smile. He was also wearing a fluffy pink sweater. Not at all Daniel’s type but he didn’t know anyone in Amsterdam and Nicky was cute, clean looking, and friendly. Daniel figured he must be Dutch because of the accent. Daniel loved accents.

“Hello, I’m Nicky. You need some help?” Nicky often cruised the huge square in front of the station, where good looking boys arrived by the hour. Unfortunately the cute ones always seemed to travel in packs. Nicky saw them as young firm and full of sperm. He watched and waited for any one of them to stray from the herd. Then he would pounce.

“Could use some direction sure.” Daniel thought, had he known where he was headed. He had heard that Amsterdam was the place to be for young free spirited boys who wanted to become men overnight.

“You’re American?” Nicky asked, even though he was pretty certain. European boys looked different, they carried themselves differently to American boys. American boys had that strut of confidence that came with being ‘from America’. Fuck yeah!

“Does it show?” Daniel knew he exuded confidence. And although he had an abundance of youth, beauty and brains he had no idea what to do with it all. He was an unopened package.

“Well if you’re interested I have a room available in my house which is near here.” In fact, Nicky had several homes. He was also the owner of a few bars and ran several escort services for boys of barely legal age. Nicky was only twenty four himself, but had already done extremely well.

“Wow that’s cool.” Daniel thought this was the coolest thing. Accommodation was always the first priority. That and a job. Daniel wondered for a moment if he would have to pay for Nicky’s generosity. He had brought his credit card with him and a few hundred dollars from his last modeling gig. The euro was flying high. This was by no means a done deal.

“We can walk, no need for the tram.” Nicky stayed close to the action. His business interests were all within a four block radius. he kept his staff on their toes by constantly ‘stopping by’ several times a day. He was a cautious man.

When they reached the first floor of Nicky’s townhouse Daniel let out a low whistle. He was impressed by the luxurious space with what appeared to be all of the latest in technology, including a huge flat-screen television.

“The master bedroom is mine of course. You are on the top floor,” Nicky explained as Daniel followed dutifully behind him. He began to worry that even if he had one closet in this house it would be out of his price range. He was going to have to pay rent somehow. He decided he would have to resort to his usual charm.

January 24, 1953, yes, an Aquarian and all that being an Aquarian implies. Born in Cleveland Ohio with a Gemini/Taurus ascendant. We moved to New York when I was seven years old, my mother, younger brother and I. We lived in all five boroughs but settled in Richmond Hill Queens. Since then I got another brother and both my parents are now deceased.

In 1987 while recovering in Europe from major foot surgery I started writing short stories. I wrote about things I knew, which at that time were the gay sex and the fetish communities of which I was, and am still a part of. I submitted and sold outright, 25 typewritten short stories to TOY and MRSM magazines which operated out of Denmark but sold throughout the world.

When I returned to the states and purchased my first word processor I re-wrote all of the stories, tweaking, updating, seriously editing those 25 stories. Then I peddled them to prominent gay magazines in the sex industry. Meanwhile back in Europe, a few of my stories had been translated into German.

Later I reworked those 25 stories by changing characters, locations, races and sexual fetishes. Again, more of those sold. Meanwhile I was becoming a better, more prolific writer exploring challenging new ideas. My philosophy is that if you take the sex out of the story, you should still have a good, entertaining tale to tell. Although every now and then ...

I let my erotica ventures rest awhile and took a different road with my writing, as I did with my life. In Amsterdam, Europe I owned and operated a gay back room leather bar. Later, once back in the states I became a personal trainer as well as an Interfaith minister, doing two years in a Manhattan Seminary. That's when I did my self help books on Meditation, Prayer, Health and Fitness under the name RD Cain.

Somewhere in there I did the essay 'black men in leather' and 'sex:in the dungeon', my free diabetes booklet guide to healthful play during sex. The last two books mentioned have garnered a lot of good will, awards and honorable mention in and outside the industry. That's enough for now, google the rest. I blush easy. Anything else you want to know on a personal note? Just ask me.
