Elsie Hayes’ life is shattered after the vicious murder of her husband. Intent on revenge, she spends her evenings killing creatures others only see in nightmares. A supernatural event teleports Elsie into a world filled with violence, magic and unexpected lust and love when she is thrust from widow to Fated Mate of the enigmatic vampire king. Can she lower the protective shield around her heart, giving herself to a vampire whose power is the very reason her life was changed forever?

Aaaarrgghhh!!! Another record-breaking DNF. Made it to 3%.

Picture the scene: the heroine walks into a restaurant with her sister. It was cold outside, and when she takes off her jacket, her nipples poke out and, gasp, she's wearing an unlined bra. Naturally, this is what spurs the male lead to take notice of her (although why a vampire is in a burrito joint, I have no idea). And he doesn't just notice her... HE GROANS OUT LOUD AT THE SIGHT OF HER. What even??? Oh, and he's wearing tight black leather. Duh.

An unbearable ache bloomed in her core, followed by a strange pull. She wanted to perform sexual acts with this man that were illegal in some states. A wanton sex-fiend had just awoken, wanting this strange, sensual man, and it was highly unsettling.

Why am I being subjected to this shit when the setting hasn't even been properly established? When I hardly even know anything about the characters? BUILD-UP, WHAT IS THAT?

Her eyes widened when she noticed he was hard everywhere. Wow, his leather pants left little to the imagination. One word ran across her mind...huge. She felt that desire and pull once again.

So... does he have a boner in the middle of the burrito place and he's not trying to hide it? I'm confused.

It should be noted that this guy is not described in any other way except that he has "the bluest eyes she had ever seen." Oh, jeez, excuse me while I swoon.

Zander watched the frail, human female hurry from the restaurant. Something about her was familiar, but all he could focus on was how beautiful and intriguing she was.

Bonus quote that I noticed while copying the one above: The cupid bow of her lips had thinned as she fled the establishment. The image struck him as wrong. She should always smile, and her lips would look best wrapped around his cock.

Her husband was viciously murdered by pure evil, by creatures of human nightmares and Elsie has vowed to avenge his death with the death of every night walking creature she finds. Meanwhile, another battle rages, between the demon plane and the Tehrex Realm where one Vampire King and his Dark Warriors are all that stand between fragile humans the hell spawn lurking in the shadows.

Elsie has been emotionally ravaged by the death of her husband, the police were no help and suddenly a group of powerful looking, charismatic men offer their assistance, led by the very alpha Zander. Little did Zander know he would find his fated mate in the fragile human body of a grieving widow and she would over power his every thought and action. Their physical chemistry, be it in dreams or the flesh sizzle, but her guilt and feelings of betrayal to her deceased husband are an obstacle Zander is willing to overcome, any way he can.

No doubt about it, Brenda Trim and Tami Julka can write sexual heat, in great detail. Dream Warrior combines what looks to be a fabulous storyline with an abundance of sexual encounters that seem to overpower all else. I know, I know this is erotica, but I saw a fantastic tale just screaming to be expanded on! Wonderful supporting characters bring some humor and life into this tale and ad that special spark of future tales about each of them! Zander, clearly is an alpha floored by his attraction to Elsie, and nearly drown her in gifts to help endear him to her. Elsie started off with all of my attention, but her character seemed to become shallower and less dimensional as each page turned. I completely enjoyed the unrealistic, but humorous good ole boy routine shared by the Dark Warriors as they tried originally to pass themselves off as cops.

Leave your blush at the door, forget your need for private moments, and prepare for the raw carnality of two people from different worlds when Fate says they are mates.

I received this copy from Brenda Trim and Tami Julka in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately this book did not work for me... I DNF’d this book early on due to confusion over the multiple characters being introduced with no real background or relationships established; the initial meeting of the hero and heroine was immediately sex based which I can place into the context of “Fated Mates” but it seemed bizarre, it would have worked more for me if it was a protective response rather than a sexual one; future interactions between these two continued to be strange and unfitting to the role the characters were playing (When police investigators come to your home to disclose information over your husbands murder, they do not bring food, presents, and chick flicks... nor do they kiss you on your cheek!); these moments just made the heroine seem ditzy and naive... not for me:(

After an opening with a man dying of a vampire bite - yet there is blood everywhere - we move to his distraught widow, at college and at work, trying to keep food down as her grief chokes her. I could follow all that but what I didn't get was, as soon as she comes across a strange man she looks at his groin and thinks how buff and fine he is.

This leads in to a demonstration (with a would-be vampire fan) of how uninvolved this man is with any woman he has a quick session with, not an example to follow. He's a vampire and he and his friends are sort-of worried that a demon is muscling in on their territory. As one would. All the men are far more interested in what a woman has up her jumper than what is in her head. Not my kinda guys. There's a shapeshifter, telepathy, telekinesis and battles - the vampires are trying to protect humans. And our heroine decides to fight back against evil. That was a good moment.

I'm really not into the instalust as the widow has told us how haggard she looks and what is filling her mind, while the vampire has apparently more women willing to be of use than he needs. I would rather an author took the time to develop a friendship which resonated with the emotional depth they were trying to establish.

The writing is a bit scrappy with two sentences in a row starting with It, for instance. Formatting is odd with a blank space between each paragraph which spreads the book over many more pages. However, anyone who enjoys horror, which I largely don't, will probably like this book more than I did.
Strong violence, mature romance scenes, very strong language. Adults only then.

I downloaded an e-ARC from Instafreebie. This is an unbiased review.

I saw this cover and instantly was curious about what these two authors could bring to a genre that if honest sometimes seems a little tired. I do enjoy paranormal romance but finding a unique vampire story that pulls me in is getting much harder. This book started in a completely different manner as the heroines husband Dalton is dying but he manages to leave her a message telling her he will always love her. Flash forward about eighteen months and Elsie is a vigilante going out at night to destroy the monsters that killed her husband Dalton. Elsie is grieving and cannot come to terms with the loss of her husband but her life is about to take a huge turn when she comes face to face with what is perhaps the biggest monster out there!
Zander is the Vampire king and leads his warriors against the demons ( or skirm as they call them) who prey upon the humans. A chance meeting between Elsie and Zander arouses his suspicions that maybe she is more than just an ordinary human but he is truly shocked when he discovers that not only does she blame vampires for her husbands murder but that Elsie is in fact his Fated Mate! How can Zander convince her that his vampires are not the soulless bloodsuckers she imagines and more to the point when can he claim this woman who completes his soul? Elsie is tormented by her feelings but cannot get past her guilt . Yes Elsie is attracted to Zander but does not want to betray her late husbands memory so where does that leave them? I guess sometimes purgatory is something we create for ourselves !
This is a tough one to review for me as I liked Zander and his delicious Scottish brogue but couldn't quite believe how he acted at times. One minute all dominant and passionate but then he would stand by and allow his warriors to get close to Elsie and ok he might growl a bit but that was about it. He just felt so very different to the usual alpha male although admittedly i did like seeing his more gentle side . Elsie hmm well if frank I thought she was a bit of a tease. Yes I know she's hurting but come on she's a grown woman and well aware that yes, no, maybe, no is just not how to treat anyone let alone a guy who clearly needs her! i admired her fighting spirit though but just wasn't impressed by her leading Zander on at times. What I did like were the fun loving warriors and there's quite a lot of interaction with them which clearly sets up for them to have books of their own . Frankly they seemed a little too playful at times and I'm amazed that Zander didn't react more because these touchy feely guys were all over Elsie like a rash! Playful puppies came to mind but as a first book that's setting up a series I can forgive that and just hope to see a little more action next time and slightly less pool time!
I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review

Dream Warrior is the first book in what promises to be an awesome paranormal series called the Dark Warrior Alliance. Since I am sure you will love this book I will give you a little inside info: The books of the series can be read as a standalone. Therefore, all you ladies that avoid books because of cliffhangers, you don’t have to worry about those in this case!
For those that love everything paranormal, this is the book for you! In this reality we there is a war between the demon plane and the Tehrex Realm, home of the Dark warriors. They are the only ones that can protect humanity from the demons and, wait for it, our sexy as sin hero is the Vampire King of this realm! Zander is the epitome of alpha male/warrior, basically, he is used to boss people around and have no one ever question him. Enter a very smartass, independent and not shy at all heroine, Elsie. To be fair, both of them weren’t exactly what the other was expecting. Elsie, is a widow that turned into a hunter of supernatural creatures, she is a strong woman that would rather kill a supernatural than have the hots for him. Zander just found his destined Mate, Elsie, and is having a hard time trying to make her realize that they belong together while making sure she doesn’t put a stake in his heart.
I have to admit it was quite hilarious that such an alpha male turned into a sweet gentlemen and passionate lover just for Elsie. Also, I couldn’t help but be amused by all the smirks, smiles and chucking he did due to her temper. I guess that you prefer amusement over boredom any way, even when it can become a pain in the neck. I would have to agree on that one. I kind of understand all the doubts Elsie has when this handsome male specimen walks into her life. She is not only a widow but also a hunter, those are two points against the Vamp King. Nevertheless, the attraction is there and there is some sort of connection that runs much deeper. They can’t deny it but it is quite fun to watch them deal with it.
I want to put your mind at ease ladies and gents, this book is not all about romance. You will have a fair amount of comedy, in fact, I still re-read some parts just to have a good laugh. Some characters such as our dear Elsie will make you laugh out loud, so be aware of where you are reading and who is around, if you don’t want people to look at you as if you were crazy. Ladies, there are some handsome men in kilts for you! I am not telling you the exact chapter or you will be running to those! Ancient traditions, blood exchange, a hell of some action scenes and, of course, a passionate romance that, unlike others, doesn’t feel rushed at all. In fact, Elsie sent Zander to the friend zone for a while!

This is another tough one to rate. I'm not sure how it became a Top Pick due to the plot holes and leaps of logic, not to mention poor grammar which leaves the reader wondering who is the object of the narration (Identifying "he" in a crowd of males can be tough to guess and stalls reading fluidity. I suggest the authors name the person they are speaking of). The good storyline couldn't be bolstered by the interesting world building, due to plot discrepancies, and unanswered questions. Characters would do things, but the reasons were not explained (were readers supposed to guess? Did author's assume we would know? Possibly to build suspense?). The book felt unpolished and I'm at a loss to explain the other ratings. Since I'm in the minority, I suggest reading part of the sample chapters offered by most major retailers before making a purchase choice on this one.

LOVED!

It's been a while since I read PNR, and though in the beginning I wasn't really sure I'd like this one I'm happy I stayed with it because I floved!

The story is packed with action, sexiness, mystery and suspense.
We've got vampires, shifters, sorcerers, faes, demons and I'm sure many other unknowns.

I love Elsie (FMC), in many supernatural stories we come across many weak female leads. Elsie is the complete opposite even when she's got every reason to curl up into a ball and let the world fade away but, nope, she's a take-no-shet woman.
I fecking LOVE Zander. He is just *swoon* amazing and the Scottish brogue just makes him perfect.
All the supporting characters were great. Each had their own unique personality and they each shined while not stealing the spotlight from the MC's.

Like I said, the first moments of the book made me a bit unsure of the entire book, but I loved it in the end. I cannot wait to dive into book two.

Deepest fated mates connection!

I've read a lot of fated mates' stories. This one was by far the most thought-out. Such a deep way that they connected before & after mating. Loved reading Elise's transformation from human to vampire. Her entrance into the supernatural world was earth-shattering! I truly loved this passionate tale. The characters were so lovable. I felt bad for Orlando though. Hopefully, he gets his mate soon. If you love fated mates you have to read this.

Phenomenal Character Building

I am a new reader of these talented authors and I'm now wondering what took me so long to join the party. The character building is phenomenal. So much detail. The story is unhurried but not packed with extraneous filler. They took their time to allow the love story to unfold weaving their spell like the magic in the book. This is a book best read in a comfy chair, surrounded by quiet, a rainstorm would be the ideal backdrop. Outstanding storytelling, ladies. Thank you for the most excellent read.

Zander Tarakesh is the Vampire King of the Tehrex Realm and he and his Dark Warriors keep unsuspecting humans safe from the things that go bump and crash and rampaging in the night. When he comes across all-too-human Elsie Hayes he’s astounded and alarmed that she’s his Fated Mate. Elsie is a widow who lost her husband to a demon attack, but during the course of her investigation into his murder she discovers the evil in the dark. She joins a group that fights vampire, but ends up getting hurt. In rides Zander and his Dark Warriors to her rescue. But how long can they keep their true selves secret from her? And when she finds out will she attempt to rid the Earth of their vileness?

This story started out so interesting and then…ugh. It is full of repetition. I was so sick of hearing how much Elsie loved her husband and how she would never love, let alone marry, another for the rest of her life. Um, she’s in her early 20s. How dramatic of her. Then there’s Zander. Good grief. How many times did I have to read about how hard he was around her, how he loses all control, how much he wanted her but had to take it slow, or how she was his Fated Mate? All the fucking time. It was practically on every other page. *head meet wall, repeatedly* The pacing is all over the place, the writing amateurish, and the timeline is all screwed up. There’s only a smidgeon of interesting shit to recommend this, but not enough for me to continue on with the series.

Dream Warrior by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka
The only thing I found wrong with this story was that it ended. The good news is that there is another book. This is a page turning action packed romance. It had me on the edge of my seat from the first page until the last; if I didn’t have to go to work I would not have put the book down until I finished it.
Elsie knows that evil stalks the night as her husband Dalton was killed by what she believes is a vampire. She joins a group SOVA (Survivors of vampire attack) to find and kill this terror of the night. What Elsie doesn’t know is what she is hunting is a lot worse than vampires.
After a chance encounter with the Vampire King Zander at a dinner where she was going to get dinner. She instantly fell in lust but she is still being faithful to her dead husband 18 months after his death. She was never ever going to follow through on any of the feelings or impulses she had.
Once Zander realizes where he had first seen Elsie he gets some of his warriors who are also detectives to re-open the case and to see what they can discover. Her honeysuckle fragrance is enough to drive Zander crazy with desire. He finally realizes that she is the reason he has been unable to feed since that night that he saw her on the news and she is his mate. It has been 400 years since there has been a fated mate.
Elsie is too plagued by guilt to allow this to happen without a fight. Finally she realizes that she loves Zander but will it be too late?
I received this ARC for an honest review I can honestly say I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone that likes the vampire stories.

Dream Warrior is more than just a sexy and fun read; it also has a plot and characters which will reel you in and leave you anxiously awaiting the next novel. Sexual tension throughout the novel culminates in many descriptive scenes that have the power to leave you panting, blushing, and wondering where you can sign up for your own Dream Warrior.

In addition to its many deliciously steamy scenes, Dream Warrior is also a story about letting go of the pains of the past and being open to the unknown possibilities of the future. Zander, the Vampire King and alpha male used to having his every word obeyed instantly, must be patient and tender in order to win over the heart of the woman he is fated to be with. Elsie, a heartbroken widow, secretly spends her nights hunting down the fanged creatures responsible for her husband's death, and she is unsure how to handle her attraction to this new intense and sexy male specimen.

While some aspects of the novel may exist solely in the fantasy world, Brenda Trim & Tami Julka successfully suspend readers' disbelief regarding vampires, supernatural abilities, and alternate realms. They write characters who are complicated, lonely, insecure, short-tempered, devoted, scared, brave, timid, and - lest we forget - sexy, to say the least, and readers quickly become invested in the lives and futures of the characters.

Dream Warrior is a novel that I highly recommend if you are looking for a sexy adult paranormal romance with substance. This story will keep you up at night and leave you wanting more.

Please note: Due to the graphic details of sex scenes, this novel is for recommended only for audiences ages eighteen and older.

I totally loved how this drew me in from the get-go. Don’t get me wrong – it is sad as hell, because the first couple of pages is the husband’s death scene and you can just sense the pure and unadulterated love that was between the two. Elsie has always been convinced that her husband was killed by vampires and she’s been out fighting tem. What a surprise when she realizes that not only are there other, more lethal creatures that go bump in the night, but they are the ones who attacked her husband and have attacked her. The bigger shock? The vampires are the ones who saved her… and the big kahuna himself is her Fated Mate! The biggest problem? She can’t get past feeling that she is betraying her dead husband if she allows herself to feel interest for another man. You can really feel the torment that Elsie feels to move from Widow to Fated Mate status; however I also feel that part of the conflict became beaten like a dead horse. (And I hate to say that because I have a feeling that it mirrors Brenda’s personal feelings as she got to know her second husband.) It just got to the point, however, that I wanted to tell Elsie to go to a therapist and just be realistic about not giving up on her life in her early twenties! The best part is the friendships that Elsie crafts with the warriors, and seeing how they all stand up for her and with her is so heartwarming! I can’t wait to learn more about the Tehrex Realm!

A story with a lot of high and lows. Entertaining. Well-written, interesting, with a heroine that’s anything but weak.
Although the journey into this tale begins on a sad, emotional note as our heroine’s husband passes away, things move along to a woman hell-bent on revenge. Elsie’s need for payback takes us deeper into the world of the paranormal where she fulfills her new purpose as a hunter of sorts.
Elsie’s issues with vampires is something she will have to deal with, but now on a more personal matter. Her intended mate is none other than the vampire king, which sets a new chain of events for Elsie and even Zander.
Given Elsie’s suspicions when it comes to vampires, I understand why she refused to accept Zander’s advances. I think she’s a strong lead, powerful in a way that makes her admirable. She mourns her husband, but becomes a fighter in order to cope. I like this about her.
Because I refuse to give out all the major plot points for respect of the author, I will add that I enjoyed this read very much and thought it was an easy, fulfilling read that kept me turning page after page. I love it when I pick up a new book and I’m completely engrossed within the first few pages.
Definitely looking forward to the sequel!

The book starts with the death of Elsie's husband and then you move 18 months forward in time. Elsie is still trying to come to terms with the death of her husband, to help her cope she has become part of a group SOVA killing the monsters that killed her husband.

Zander is the king vampire he heads a group of warriors protecting humans from Skims the monsters that would all humans. He has been hoping for a soul mate but knows he may never find her. Until he meets Elsie and his world alters forever.

I wondered at the beginning if Elsie and Zander would ever find a HEA. Elsie is determined to hold on to her vows to love her husband forever and is confused about her feelings for Zander. Zander has always though humans are weak so when he finds his fated mate is human he is hesitant. After spending time with her he vows to protect and provide for her. Their relationship is put to the test several times with guilt, Skims and demons but they get there.

I haven’t read anything by this author before but will definitely read more. Its well written dealing with delicate situations. A great read for vampire and paranormal fans.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Zander, the Vampire King, and his Dark Warriors live in the shadows of the human world protecting them from the demons and evils the humans remain unaware of. Zander must be in total control at all times to battle and lead his people. In walks Elsie, his Fated Mate and a fragile human. Elsie is fighting her own battles after the brutal murder of her husband by what she believes are vampires. She has taken it upon herself to hunt them at night and eradicate them all. Zander attempts to help her in this battle, as he is already fighting it, and convince her of the truth of the paranormal situation. Add to that, Zander and Elsie's undeniable attraction to on another and her feeling she is betraying her dead husband's memory.

A wonderful read. I found it difficult to put the book down. This is a standalone story and introduces the reader into this series. I cannot wait to get to know more of this family.

I absolutely loved reading this book. I thought it was one of the best beginning paranormal romances I have had the pleasure to read in a long time. I admit I didn't see the book going in the direction it had taken given the prologue but felt that only added to its enamor. The authors were able to keep you on your toes wondering what was going to happen next and if the romance building in the book was going to happen or not while simultaneously giving you subtle hints about possible future connections that could be next books. The only cons I had were some sentence structures and spellings of the Scottish brogue as I have seen many of the words spelled differently. Though quite possibly the authors were giving the accents uniqueness. Given the content in this book I rate this book for mature audiences only and am giving this book 5 Fangs. Elsie is nothing but a black hole of misery. After losing her husband, she only has revenge to sustain her. She has spent the last 18 months fighting back. Her sister is worried about her since she has been living on energy drinks and a little sugar. She promised her husband to love him forever and she will. She will also hunt down all vampires she can and kill them.
Zander is a vampire king. He rules and protects everyone he can. When his eyes fall on a small human his life is changed. She is his mate but she already tied herself to a dead man. He will do what he can to avenge and protect her.
A new tale of vampires, Fae, shifters, and demons. It is well paced and keeps your attention. The first in a series that sets the scene for future novels. I will look forward to the next installment.

There were a fair number of things I enjoyed about this book:
* I liked Xander - the perfect combination of alpha male, strong leader, and considerate mate.
* I liked the secondary characters, and am looking forward to reading their stories.
* I liked the world building.
* There were a couple well-written fight scenes.

I wasn't crazy about the heroine, but I liked the other women in the book, and I suspect at least her sister and Xander's sister will get their own books, and I'm looking forward to reading their stories.

Overall, it's a good start to an intriguing PNR series. If you like vampires and shifters, as well as various other supernatural beings, give this series a try.

I was given this book through a giveaway with ILVN thank you!

I am a huge fan of the BDB books and wow this so reminds me of it. I am not complaining! I loved this book, it starts so sad, experiencing a sudden lose ourselves we know pain like El was dealing with and the authors did a great job with expressing that feeling. Zander is hot! Orlando I love, and I so want him to have a HEA! I am excited to continue with this series I can tell it will not disappoint, another favorite added to my list. Thank you so much for introducing me to this world!

Just WOW! I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I have to say I was blown away by the amount of depth brought into these characters. I can't imagine what Elise has gone through and my heart was hurting with the emotion I felt from the very first page. I felt as if I was brought along the journey of Elise and Zander relationship, and I could feel the confusing feelings. I fell in love with Zander when Elise did and that just shows me how thought out and we'll this story was written. Cudos! You have gained a huge fain to these dark warriors

This was a great book. I love how the characters all seem to compliment each other. Elsie's continued waffling back and forth between her feelings for Zander versus her feelings for Dalton was driving me crazy however I understand why they were the way they were. The cliffhanger at the end was just mean lol. Now I am dying to know what is going to happen to Elsie's sister. I now must go in search of the next book. Well done Brenda Trim and Tami Julka.

This book has it all. Lots of highs and lows. It made me laugh, cry, get angry, and I wanted to shake Lady E. and tell her to wake up and get over Dalton already.
I usually don't get excited to read the next book in a series but this is an exception. Well done.
