Hacker's Raid

Rate this book
After a seven year exile, Justin Hacker returns to his hometown of Nogales, Arizona to try to break his younger brother out of a Mexican prison where he awaits the hangman’s noose for crimes he didn’t commit. But first, Justin must overcome certain obstacles - such as a town bully, a Mexican bandito and his gang, an Indian attack, a father who has vowed to shoot him on site should he ever return, and match wits with a maniacal prison warden who hates gringos. And if that isn’t enough, after several twists of fate, Justin leads the whole town back across the border in an attempt to rescue both, his father and uncle from the dreaded Mexican prison where they now await the hangman’s noose.

HACKER’S RAID is a fast moving page turner with non-stop action that keeps you asking, “What’s going to happen next.”

Not enough room here. Suffice to say, besides being a writer for many years - Stringer for several newspapers, my own bi-line for articles in SAG and AFTRA mags., short story writer, screenwriter, and now two books, I'm also a blue water sailor, been a carnival barker, wrestled an ape on exhibition, rode the rails as a hobo for the experience, rodeo clown, storyteller, stand-up comic, MC, electrician, power lineman, owned several companies, circus clown, over 20 years as a prof. actor; Stage, Film and Television, along with some other stuff I can't think of right now. As my good friend, Jimmy Stewart once said, It really is a Wonderful Life.

Hacker's Raid
I highly recommend Hacker's Raid by master storyteller Jared McVay to anyone who loves a good story, whether you love westerns or not. In this high adventure page-turner, Justin Hacker is a hero for all ages. He and his family go through hell to do what is right. Dimensional, lovable characters and realistic western dialogue set in the beautiful, rugged southwest help make this suspenseful action story a candidate for the BIG SCREEN.

I read this book some time ago and neglected to write a review. I just re-read the book to refresh my memory; the thrill and suspense was still there. Jared has a way of getting into the heads of his characters, which in turn, gets into mine. You feel the heat of the desert, the smell of sweat as you read about Justin Hacker and his determination to rescue his brother from a Mexican prison run by a ruthless warden. The story is one that will keep you up at night reading to find out what is about to happen. Ladies don't just buy this for the man in your life, sit down and read it yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Hacker’s Raid by fellow author and friend Jared McVay is an action-packed, energetic novel. Jared is a master storyteller and his talent comes alive on the pages of his second novel. I enjoyed the adventures of Justin Hacker in his quest to break his brother, then his father and uncle out of a notorious Mexican prison. Jared often offers buyers a packet of tissues when they buy one of his books, and you may just need one for this book too.
