To start this review off I would like to say that I LOVE laurenzside; but I refuse to let that skew my actual opinion on this graphic novel.

Here are some things I think that new readers should keep in mind before reading that I did not to have a more enjoyable experience than me:

-Remember that Lauren is not an experienced author
-Remember that this is a short graphic novel, not a long book so likewise, the plot might not be extremely deep nor will the characters.
-Remember that Lauren plays creepy pastas, and they will be the main part of the book.
(KEEP EXPECTATIONS LOW!!)

With all that said, if you like graphic novels, you will probably still only rate this without bias, a three. To prove my point I had my sister read it. She loves graphic novels in fact, she will only read a graphic novels; and has no idea who Lauren is. She said and I quote, “ the graphic novel was ok, it was very rushed, there was a little plot, and I feel like the cliffhanger was in the middle of the climax in a place that it shouldn’t have been, although the drawings and some of the story were really impressive. I would rate a three out of five.” so as you can see someone who loves graphic novels still didn’t think this was life-changing or even… good.

Here are my critiques. I think that we definitely should’ve seen more with the friends and the main character. I feel like the friends should of either came on the adventure and that’s what made them better friends or we should’ve just not included them at all. They truly felt so useless in this story and I have no idea why they were even there. Truly, I don’t even remember their names. This book was so short and I feel like they could’ve added more pages and just more plot. I don’t understand why we barely got to know these characters before we jumped straight into the story and then ended the story on an insane cliffhanger before the climax had even started. A good and satisfying cliffhanger comes in the middle of a climax or close to the very end so when this one came during the rising action, it was very, very disappointing to me. Granted it is very close to the climax and I feel if we had 100 more pages we could have gotten everything that I’m talking about. All I can say is that you could definitely tell that Lauren is not a writer. I feel like she should have put more thought into the actual plot and not just the characters. I also feel like she knows the character characters so well and could not write that into the story. I would love to see the next book really develop the characters and the plot. I want to know what’s happening with them and I really want to get close to them and know them personally. And until I see that I will continue to write all of these books, a two or one. (this is not hating on Lauren at all as a person or as a content creator. I very much love her, but I do think she needs to work on her writing skills. Or at least to work with a better team than she was with. She needs to take these critiques and make her second book better.)

What I liked about the book. I loved the art style so much. I really fell in love with the characters through the art and how they were portrayed. I think it’s very important that comic books can show emotion very well because the author can’t just write that emotion in as they could in a book, and I think that this comic book did that perfectly. I do love the potential in the characters and the potential in the plot. **spoilers** I loved the robot that helped her and all of the creatures in the creepy pastas. Queen bee was very interesting in the way that she was like the evil queen from Alice in Wonderland. I really like the dynamic between all of the characters and just truly when we got to see the characters of what we got to see. Which is why I really wished that I could have gotten closer and deeper into these characters personal lives. Because while reading the book, I felt like I was seeing her life from a different person’s point of view and not hers. But with all of that to say this is what made me give a two star review versus a one or zero.

But finally, I would like to say that this book wasn’t horrible. It definitely could have been much better and I was really really disappointed. However, I went into it with high expectations because Lauren promoted it so much and was so excited for it. I watched all of her content on it and as soon as it came out on, Kindle, got it. I would say if you love Lauren buy it because it does help her and that is one of the reasons I am not resenting buying it; however, I would if you can buy it on Kindle because it is cheaper and I do not think this book is worth as much as some of my upper books. But please take this all with a grain of salt because I have read some really amazing graphic novels and some really amazing books that this book was just so dissatisfying and disappointing. Thank you for reading my review!!

amazing book!

I loved it SOO much! The art style and colours amazed me! The story is very interesting and odd (but in a good way!) also made by my favourite YouTuber?? Even better! The only thing I hated was that it ended on a CLIFFHANGER… other than that, it was incredible!

Super pretty art, very interesting concepts, I like how all the different personalities shine through for the characters. Cool amount of creepiness and complexity of the world. I like the establishing and growing of relationships and am excited for the next part!
