Mr. & Mrs. Taylor: A Toxic Love Story by Shae Sanders

I just finished this and I had a smile on my face. They are probably my favorite toxic book couple at this point. I think I enjoyed this book better than the first. They were still crazy for each other and then so cute in this one but crazy and toxic! The therapist couldn’t even help their behinds 🤣🤣. And the connection with the baby 🥰🥰🥰 Raya has grown so much! Which makes me think of that Tik Tok sound where she says she “finding it.” 😆🤣

Book 2 picks up after Raya and Ace are married. It’s interesting because Raya’s craziness is still up front. Ace is not only invested in it but is encouraging her. Which of course sets up more antics.

I was really enjoying the book especially the marriage counseling sessions. Then Raya has the baby and the book ends. It seemed like a let down after everything that happened in the beginning of the book and the first book.

I borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited. And while I enjoyed this book, the first book is definitely better. I would go so far as to say you don’t need to read book 2.

“I think I’m getting better at being normal.”

Crazy 1 & Crazy 2 are back at it again!

-unhinged wife & husband
-toxic marriage
-lies, coercion & manipulation
-strained family dynamics
-the ebbs & flows of friendship
-funny, reliable banter
-detailed spice
-quick reminders from what happened in book 1

You absolutely have to read book 1 before this.
Although book 2 wasn’t nearly are unhinged & chaotic as the first, it was still entertaining. The Taylor’s are not okay!

Check your trigger warnings!

Listen. It Only Received 3 ⭐️Because It Seemed Rushed To Me. I Didn’t Expect Book 2, But It’s Nothing Wrong With More Antics From Raya & Ace. Of Course More From Raya Than Ace, Because That Man Go Make Sure Raya Is Heard, Respected, Comfortable, Encouraged In Her Craziness. From The Beginning Of This Book To Me It Seems That Ace Was Walking On Eggshells In Their Marriage. In The First Book I Felt He Had Little To No Backbone. Oh But Baby Ace Surprised Me In This 1.

Raya Of Course Worked My Nerves. All Because She Just Didn’t Know How To Let Things Go. As Usual. She Rides For That Man & Vice Versa. From Her Setting Boundaries With Ace Family & Friends. She Was No Hoes Barred With Them All & Ace Doing The Same With Them. She Came Off Disrespectful At Times, But His Ppl Honestly Couldn’t Do Anything But Respect Raya Stance On Protecting Ace First & Their Union As A Whole. I Actually Loved Their Not Normal Relationship.

Ace Tries His Damnest To Allow Raya To Be Herself, But Find Other Ways To See Things Through Without Hurting Others. She Actually Did Good In This Book, Because Knowing Raya You Know She’s Unhinged. Ace Put His Foot Down(Telling Raya No & Sticking To It), Took Action On Things He Wanted(The Baby. Even Though He Went About It Terrible), Stood Up To Anybody Speaking On Raya Or Their Marriage(Putting His Sister Cam In Her Place). He Made Me Proud, He Really Did.

I Got To Really Enjoying The Book When They Start Attending Marriage Counseling. It’s One Thing Knowing What Happens Between Them Throughout The Book, But Sitting & Unpacking All Their Unhinged Behavior😮‍💨It’s A HUGE Caution Of Toxicity, But They Both Were Dead Set On Not Divorcing. They Wasn’t The Typical “Normal Married Couple” & It All Works In An Odd Way For Them.

Raya Get Pregnant Have The Baby & The Book Is Over. That Was The Most Disappointing Thing, Because It Felt All Rushed Into The Last 5 To 7 Minutes Of The Book. Wanted More, So I Would Just Consider This A Quick Update On Raya & Ace. Including A Little More Crazy Behavior.

This started off strong—good pacing, solid setup, and a couple whose chemistry worked because they matched each other’s chaos. I liked that it felt more character-driven in the beginning. But once the pregnancy storyline showed up? The momentum slowed way down for me. It started feeling like we were revisiting the same emotions over and over with no real escalation or payoff. Scenes felt like they were happening just to happen, not because the story was actually going somewhere. I kept waiting for the moment where it all clicked… and it never did. I’ll give credit where it’s due—the therapy sessions were interesting, and I liked seeing them actually confront their trust issues. But even those moments felt kind of isolated, like good scenes that didn’t fully connect to the bigger picture. And the ending? Lazy. Full stop. I loved their dynamic and how they matched each other’s crazy, but I still couldn’t connect fully.

Truly, who wants to be normal anyway?? This was so good!! I really love their crazy dramatic. At this point, I am not sure who’s crazier. This was such a full circle. I could read multiple books about them causing ruckus.
Highly recommend!!

Who wants to be normal anyway?

I love them, I love them, I love them! This is definitely an unconventional relationship to say the least, but as the saying goes, "every pot has its lid." This is a beautiful story of love, self-discovery, and healing. The path to all of that was paved with chaos and insanity, but they found their HEA.

The Second Time Around Even Better

Call Me, Mrs. Taylor (Book 1) and Mr. Taylor and Mrs Taylor(Book 2) make up a dark romance duology that honestly surprised me in the best way.
This was my first time reading dark romance, and I didn’t expect to laugh as much as I did. Raya and Ace are both completely unhinged, which is what makes their relationship work. The author tries to frame Raya as the “crazy” one at first, but once Ace enters the picture, it’s clear he’s just as deranged as she is. He claims he doesn’t like crazy… meanwhile he loves it, marries it, and matches her energy.
Book one had several laugh out loud moments. The chaos, the dialogue, and the situations were genuinely funny. Knowing this was the author’s first time writing in this genre made it even better she did a really good job transitioning into dark romance.
By book two, Ace proves without question that he’s just as wild as his wife. Raya absolutely does not play about her husband. Anyone who disrespects him, disappoints him, or comes at him wrong will be checked immediately. And Ace? He’s just as protective, making sure Raya always feels safe.
What really stood out to me was Raya’s character development. At first, I could understand why people especially Ace’s family saw her as crazy. But once you learn her backstory, you realize she’s a woman who had to protect herself because the men in her life failed to protect her. Her aggressiveness is really self preservation, and even in her sharpest moments, there’s love underneath it.
I loved how she has this hate love relationship with everyone in Ace’s life. She doesn’t like them, but she still shows up, still protects, still loves in her own way. When she finally lets her guard down with Ace, their story turns into something genuinely beautiful.
The toxicity level was top tier.
The laughs were consistent in both books.
And the love story dark, chaotic, but real.
Raya and Ace were made for each other. I really enjoyed this series and absolutely rate it five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

I read Mr. and Mrs. Taylor because my friend texted me at an ungodly hour to tell me there was a book two to the first dark romance I ever read, and honestly that was all the convincing I needed. I loved Call Me Mrs. Taylor for how unsettling it made me feel, and I went into this expecting Raya to still be absolutely unhinged. She did not disappoint.
From the start, I was weirdly giddy reading this. Raya is still crazy, Ace knows she’s crazy, and he loves her anyway. Which is apparently my brand now. I didn’t even read the plot before downloading it. I just trusted the chaos and went along for the ride, and for the first half, I was having a great time. Two unstable people making terrible decisions together? Say less.
That said, the book did kind of fall off for me in the second half. The plot felt uneven, with some scenes that didn’t really add much to the story or the characters. It wasn’t bad, just bumpy. Character-wise, Raya grows a little by the end, but overall, both she and Ace felt very similar to who they were in book one.
Overall, I liked it. I didn’t love it. It was a solid one-time read and a decent follow-up, even if the first half carried most of the weight. If you liked book one and enjoy unhinged FMCs, you’ll probably have fun with this.

Normal to me

Where do I begin?!? You gotta love it when an author takes a risk and full embraces it. Sanders did no half stepping with this Dark Romance, and going more dark romcom in book two was perfection. She absolutely let herself enjoy writing this book. I don’t know if she let the characters have the reins or if this was all her, but either way it is stellar.

In a book climate where readers are complaining about pregnancy tropes Sanders said “watch how I do.” I could get into a full on thesis of the themes of motherhood, hormones, brain chemistry, and the social expectations places on those who give birth but I’m save that for another space.
If there are any doubts about Black romance author’s ability to write dynamic stories with multifaceted characters across sub genres, lets dead that noise right now. If you don’t like the Taylors I legit have questions, because what is there not to love about getting to see unconventional representations of Black love? So shout to Shae Sanders for being brave enough to give us a story like this. On the technical side it was well paced, freaking hilarious, emotional complex, and a true compliment to book one. I miss these crazy people already.

Crazier In Love ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Only Shae Sanders could make me fall this hard for a trauma bonded, unhinged, crazy in love couple and have me rooting for them like they are relationship goals.

Mr. & Mrs. Taylor picks up with Raya and Ace married and absolutely not calm. Ace knows his wife has a darkness in her. He married her anyway and loves her because of it. He really believes he can handle her. Watching him try is half the entertainment.

Raya is still Raya. Everyone annoys her except her husband. She is organizing her enemies in notebooks and living her best chaotic life. But when Ace outsmarts her, whew. Lessons will be taught.

Even the therapist could not save them, which had me laughing. Still, they grow in their own twisted way. They choose each other again and again, red flags and all. However, maybe Raya isn’t the only one in this relationship that needs a straight jacket.

Are they toxic? Yes.
Am I rooting for them to be together forever? Also yes.
Does that mean I need help…mind ya business!

Shae delivered another dark, addictive romance and I am locked in for whatever the Taylors do next. I definitely wouldn’t mind a part 3.

book 3 me please

Listen, I don’t care where anyone says y’all can never make me hate Raya. I love my little toxic queen. Ace is just as bad. They both had some dark tendencies that they normalized, lol. They are committed to making their marriage work. I can’t believe their therapist fired them. All in all, I love reading about them as a married couple that stood ten toes behind each other. His family and friends are still very skeptical of their relationship, but at this point, Raya and Ace are really like it’s them against the world. They’re still battling with issues, or so, due to the fact that they’re afraid of what the other will do when they find certain things. There were times where Raya was making a lot sense. Lol With the ending that we got, I definitely say that we deserve a book 3 for sure.

Raya will always be a crazy gyal lmao

Ace and Raya truly deserve each other they both have issues and just accept that about each other. The fact they realized their problems and went to therapy only to get fired from therapy was hilarious.

As much as it's a dark romance I laughed alot reading it and how unhinged both of them are. No matter what Raya loves her some Ace and he loves her crazy ass right back.

I felt like she grew as a character in this book but I know the crazy is still in there somewhere and of course Ace is just along for the ride.

At least they stayed together after everything because who else gonna deal with Raya's crazy ass? lol

THIS is what we mean by a toxic love story

Shae idk what’s going on in that head of yours but it’s utter perfection. Raya is a one of a kind. So many authors put toxic in their titles and when you read the book it’s the same old copy and paste from other authors. This series ain’t that and y’all bet not try to duplicate it. Be original and think of your own story! Do it and I will call it out on Beyoncé’s internet. Ok, rant over lol. Seriously though, I loved this series and of course I’ll do the most again lol. We need to see The Taylors as parents. Oh that will be an even wilder ride. Read the book y’all! Everyone needs to experience The Taylors.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out there was a sequel and bought this book instantly. My favorite toxic couple did not disappoint and by any other means Raya & Ace would be behind bars ASAP. I was hoping Raya's antics would amp up and get more outrageous but all things considered she was actually chill. Ace on the other hand was a MESS and kinda roamed around the book uselessly. There was a trope that took me out of it and continued into the second half of the book, but I applaud the author for trying something different. The ending wasn’t satisfying to me. The dialogue was hilarious and i enjoyed the "My Best Friend's Wedding" references.

Man, whatever is wrong with Shae Sanders, I'm here for it! Okay, so although I enjoyed the 1st one more this was still a fun time!

Raya and Ace are a match made in purgatory or something like that 😆 I will say that this couple really needs to explore kink, because they need help that a doctor or pastor CANNOT provide 😂

Not sure what else to say without spoiling it, so if you liked the 1st one, gon' head and start this one.

I’m so concerned…for me

Whew Ms.Raya got on my nerve and as bad I wanted to NOT like her there were parts of me (the unhinged parts) that were thinking “she’s actually not that bad”. My girl has an outlandish way of thinking but I must say I’m with her when she’s right. Ace had me ready to fight him too but he’s the definition of “that’s my girl and ima stick beside her” LOL. This story was twisted but bomb I couldn’t stop reading if I tried.

Still Unhinged and I Love It

This is a dark romance, very toxic, very unhinged. You definitely have to read call me Mrs. Taylor first before hopping into this one. The story picks up into life after they have gotten married, and both of them are still crazy as hell basically two nut cases in the nuthouse and I love it. They definitely belong together! Shae does it again

they are back…. and chaotic

Raya and Ace are a match made in hell. They love and adore each other but, the toxicity is real. Their crazy bounces back and forth but I was happy for their update. I want another round but I’m satisfied if this is the final.

Do you know how toxic you must be to get fired by your therapist? Yeah, go read this neeoww🤣

At this point ain’t no turning back now. I’m looking forward to at least one more installment of the Taylor’s.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor

Ace and Raya are the definition of toxic love, but you can’t deny their love for each other and willingness to do anything for the other. They both have an interesting sense of humor and don’t play about the other. They truly seem to match each others crazy. It was good catching up with them and seeing how married life is treating them.

Who wants to be normal anyways?

This couple had me questioning if my wife really loves me 🤣.
These two were really made for each other. I love seeing their growth and willingness to be better and do anything for each other. Great read, glad I stumbled upon this author. Time to go down the rabbit hole.

Oh I love this nutty couple something bad!

Shae got into her bag while writing Raya and Ace. From Call Me Mrs. Taylor to this— I believe everyone should experience their journey at least once. There were so many laugh out loud and downright crazy moments on page that kept me cracking up.

Matching Energy 🤭

I laughed, gasped, stared at the page in disbelief—and then laughed again because the Taylors' antics are truly unmatched. This is not a love story for the faint of heart but it is one for the books.

My girl Raya is back!
I really enjoyed her crazy in book one!
Book 1 is still my favorite.
It was nice to see them again and be reminded that Ace is just as crazy as she is.
He made me want to fight him in this one though. He knows what he did…

Raya and Ace!

I really enjoyed this crazy couple. Shae Sanders is becoming one of my favorite authors. I love that all of her books give something different. There are so many books with an unhinged MMC but she gave us an unhinged FMC! Looking forward to her next book.
